Whatever your speed or method, whether it’s a few shelves, a couple of boxes or entire attics, rooms, or garages, come here and share both your successes and your struggles. There’s support and commiserations, and lots of good ideas.

Donated a bag of uniform to the second-hand unform stall and posted some stuff on Olio. It's been a while since I put anything on there so not sure what it's like at the moment or whether things are going quickly. It's decent stuff so I have put it for sale, but ultimately I just want it gone so will drop it to free or take to charity if there's no interest.

One face mask used up
One jumper with too shirt sleeves donated

@ProfessorIDareSay lol! It's exactly like that! I will remember shaving a Yak now. I'm always shaving a Yak.

IncessantNameChanger · 10/12/2025 19:05

Gosh I threw out so much today. I didn't count everything as my friend was helping me. Not sure what I should put that down as for counting? Two bin bags of stuff and a packing box of paperwork? What do you all think? My friend was absolutely amazing. She did what would have taken me weeks in a few hours

CheesePlantFeet · 11/12/2025 12:14

Hello to this brand-new shiny thread, thanks for starting it @TidyClutterIsStillClutter

@IncessantNameChanger fantastic you had such a productive day! You need to do a guestimation. Were you good at guessing how many sweets were in the jar to win the teddy at the school fair?!
I would say 50 items per bin bag plus a few 100 papers. Please tell me if I win the teddy (I'll declutter it and add it to my total 🤣)

Charity shop: 3x jumpers
Bin / recycling: OOD vitamin C serum, rusty baking tray
Vinted/sold locally: book

Total 2002

CheesePlantFeet · 11/12/2025 12:15

Gah I name changed and didn't name change back for this thread. Ah well

Vinorosso74 · 11/12/2025 13:31

@IncessantNameChanger that sounds a very productive day.
I dropped the bag to the charity shop yesterday. There is more of DD's stuff she no longer wears, all in a big bag, but I need to go through that.
I have posted all my parcels so they're also out.

IndianSummer78 · 11/12/2025 17:40

One scratchy jumper and one hoodie that just doesn't get worn.
Total is 4197

Currently experiencing courier stress because they stupidly went to the wrong address. Now I have to wait in tomorrow as well. All because they're lazy about entering the address into their satnav correctly, then claim they can't find the correct address, after they've taken the parcel to the wrong address. All they have to do is enter it properly and it takes you straight here!

If you report it MN will sort you out

IncessantNameChanger · 11/12/2025 19:18

I guess it was about 50 magazines/ boxes / paper stuff and about 50 bits of tat.

Sold a bundle of dd clothes today. She won't have much left soon. I like to have things "just in case" so she has no black dress. No smart dresses now. But that's OK. If I need one, we can buy another on Vinted within the week. I do worry about everything she threw out last weekend but I'm going to go through it. Anything 9-10 and under won't fit in a few months anyway. The rest I'm going to get her to re check. Best not to overthink it maybe?

RealFastFoodie · 11/12/2025 22:55

Sorry, I lost the new thread.

Decluttering not going much at all, I will keep doing little bits, but I’m not going to make my total! I’m at 1676 and unless I start counting individual sheets of paper I can’t see it happening!

CheesePlantFeet · 11/12/2025 23:18

@IncessantNameChanger thanks! I'm me again!

LR47 · 12/12/2025 10:46

I gave away a toy so up to 1209.

I really can’t find anything else to get rid of, even in the utility room and shed so I think I am done for 2025.

This thread has been amazing for keeping a record of it all, the positivity and support and I feel like I’ve had a proper cleanse! Life is so, so much easier without so much ‘stuff’ and when things are removed as soon as they’re not needed any more.

Thank you everyone @TidyClutterIsStillClutter @CheesePlantFeet
@IncessantNameChanger
@IndianSummer78

and everyone else who’s been here for the long haul. Merry (clean and tidy) Christmas!

TOTAL outs for 2025: 1209

IndianSummer78 · 12/12/2025 16:06

Wow LR47 that's amazing 🤩

From the laundry -
One long sleeved tee that is too long
One jumper with weird sleeves
One pair of cow print joggers that aren't needed
One pair of really bobbly socks
One face serum used up
Total is 4202

I'd like to declutter my neighbour, who is a massive PITA.

I'm feeling the same. Put thanks to dd who has thrown out everything I might just scrap in. Maybe we need to count toilet paper sheets?

Ten things of dds on Vinted. Total is now 1728 so I still think I might make it! I'm going to be better next year. Do a big clear out at the end of January. To get ahead. Unfortunately although things are much better I still have so much to go

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 13/12/2025 07:45

Few more bits added to the now overflowing charity shop bags - really must do a drop off! I included an M & S snowglobe which plays Jinglebells. I still like it but it hasn’t got enough water in it.

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 13/12/2025 10:51

out - nine ancient bath toys, relegated to sandpit/garden.

Well done @LR47and thanks for all the encouragement along the way!

I’m not done yet, but I do think it will be slow progress. I’m definitely in “using up, don’t buy more” mode. No new wrapping paper this year which strangely makes me worried, but I need to just accept I will use up all the Xmas stuff

RealFastFoodie · 13/12/2025 12:06

Oops I’ve just realised I’ve had a name change fail… see you in my normal name on the next thread 😅

IncessantNameChanger · 13/12/2025 14:07

rreport it, and Mn will change it for you. I change my name all the time on here. Some one quoted where I live once! No idea how they new that as I'm careful about how much I share!

stealthninjamum · 13/12/2025 14:14

@TidyClutterIsStillClutter thank you for the new thread. Sometimes I go through my posts in a thread and love seeing my progress.

I have put a few books in my charity shop bag. I also took some diy waste to the dump. It had been in the car for about two months! I have about 7 or 8 bags of stuff still in the garage that needs to go.

About a year ago someone on one of these threads mentioned replacing Tupperware with Pyrex / glass equivalents. I have started doing that. I have a ridiculous amount of Tupperware and lots of it has become orange. It really can’t be healthy. I probably have about 40 so my plan is to buy about 10
pyrex equivalents and get rid of the rest of them apart from maybe 5 for packed lunches or do to take food home in. I currently have 2 Pyrex storage containers and have asked for more for Christmas.

Todayisanewbeginning · 13/12/2025 17:10

This thread is so inspiring! I hope you don’t mind me joining in?

Today, although not feeling well, I have put out the rubbish and sorted out the recycling that’s been building up.

I’ve also put the gardening tools into the garage - they have been all over the house since the summer. Quite a small thing, but I now have some space, so I’m feeling pleased 😌

IncessantNameChanger · 13/12/2025 22:30

Welcome Todayisanewbegining

CheesePlantFeet · 14/12/2025 13:38

Well done @LR47 that's amazing work! Thank you for your encouragement along the way ❤️ And Merry Christmas to you too
Hello @Todayisanewbeginningyou're very welcome here😊

Amongst other general decluttering over the last couple of days, I roped DH into finally clearing through the bureau. It's been his work related dumping ground since lockdown. We got rid of so much, gave it a good clean and now the drawers all close and you can open the front without stuff falling all over. We also found a missing power bank and the code for DDs bike lock🤣

Outs:
Charity shop: tote bag, book, apple merch, 3 badges, pack of photo paper, pretty note paper, collagen, 2x packs of labels, pack of dividers

Bin / recycling: holey sock, 3x Sim trays, 4x boxes of OOD COVID tests, test tube holder, embroidery kit left overs, 12x run out pens,4 oversized novelty paperclips, pencil sharpener, wool,8 crafting pipettes, 2x glow sticks,2x pencil, shoelaces, OOD medicine, whiteboard markers, collection of uselessly small zip lock bags, collection of stickers, hair bobble, 2x lanyard, posh fountain pen presentation box, ribbon, collection of envelopes that no longer stick, collection of papers with random 'important' notes and numbers, work branded coaster, book, set square, pair of ear buds, hair dye I'm never going to use,2 useful boxes, 3 old notes pads

Vinted/sold locally: jumper, 2xbook

Total 😁😁😁🎉🥳😁2079😁🥳🎉😁😁😁

There is still more work to be done. I haven't touched the loft yet. Mine and DH's clothes are an ongoing battle. I have cupboards full of sentimental or 'useful' stuff - books, china, knicknacks, novelty mugs, multiple filling cabinets of 'important' paperwork going back 30 years...

But if you walked into the house today, everything has a home, there's barely any surface clutter and it looks very tidy.

Who knows if I'll find 2026 to get rid of next year, but I'll stick around and have a go 😁
