Whatever your speed or method, whether it’s a few shelves, a couple of boxes or entire attics, rooms, or garages, come here and share both your successes and your struggles. There’s support and commiserations, and lots of good ideas.

🤣🤣

Slippers and an outgrown sweatshirt.
Total is 4254

Going to see if I can find some more later.

You see “swea-Et-shirt” has the same “5 gold rings” sound to it as “un-Der-wear”.

I’m sorry, I might have lost the plot. Too little sleep 🫠

well done @IndianSummer78 - I absolutely admire your consistency!

Minimal decluttering here! Cleaned through 1 small drawer since I last posted. That's it! Some stuff sold on vinted though

Bin / recycling: instruction manual, emery board, birthday banner
Vinted/sold locally: necklace, bracelet, jumper

Total: 215

Evening folks -a few more items to go on Vinted (brand new paperback which retails close to £20, Past Times bangle, Joules dress BNWT, Llama leggings new without tags, brand new Popsy clothing wine velvet shirt, Joe Brown floral dress & what used to be one of my favourite wrap dresses from Y by Yemi. Oh & a Cath Kidston polka dot umbrella). Couldn’t resist a visit to the charity shop but will hopefully do well selling some of the things I found ( a gorgeous lined Coast evening skirt, a black lace Monsoon dress, Hotter shoes & a gorgeous super shiny pair of Clarks Artisan boots. Wish they were my size! A few bits from my wardrobe went into the charity bag, including Temu leggings & a long sleeved cotton dress neither of which have been worn.

RubySparrow · 23/01/2026 19:39

Re Vinted I received my total sales this year. Nearly £500, which means I have wasted over £2000!!
Selling £20 hardbacks for £1.50 and £9.99 paperbacks for a £1 sometimes less if they buy two!
It has made me complain about products not worth the money and sending clothes etc back if they aren’t good!

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 23/01/2026 21:01

Teenager brought down a tub of artwork for me to get all sentimental over and choose my favourite pieces before it goes in the bin.

realfastfoodie if I was better at decluttering I'd have found enough to make the whole song for you 😂 but I'm not.

One jumper
Two trousers
One dress
One t-shirt
One battered box

Also putting a striking pair of black & gold leggings on Vinted - they’re a sort of chain design.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 24/01/2026 07:21

Just read a tip by Dilly Carter ( from the Stacy Solomon programme “Sort Your Life Out”). You divide a notepad into 3 columns ( likes, dislikes & what you want to change) then go right through your house, starting at the front door. It’s called a space audit.

GreenSageBlueTopaz · 24/01/2026 08:05

I haven't done any really since last weekend. Hopefully do some more tomorrow. But am also decorating at the moment so we'll see how it goes.

Last weekend I actually managed to get stuck into some decluttering, which was really satisfying. I emptied out the bottom of our wardrobe, hoovered it out, then went though everything before putting anything back in. I keep my shoes on one side, and I got rid of a pair of pool slides, a pair of old trainers (in a box) and two empty shoe boxes that I’d just left in there, and was able to put my summer shoes away in their shoe boxes. It looks very organised now.

The other side is used to store various things including the box with the advent calendars and other 1 December decorations. Most of it went back in there (suitcases etc) but I went through the bag of clothes I had listed on Vinted and decided to take four items off Vinted as they hadn’t sold, and were only on for a few £ at most. Also put a blazer that I don’t wear straight in the charity bag.

But the big news is that DH took four of the bags of previously sorted and counted items to a charity shop near us during the week as he was WFH, so I’ve finally got things out of the house! I pointed out that I felt that I was unsupported in my decluttered efforts, to which he did the usual ‘You only need to ask me to help’. To be fair, if I ask he will do things - I’d like him to notice and offer before I have to ask, but that might be a step too far 😀

Happyhettie · 24/01/2026 10:52

Going back to work has messed with my new found “I need to get this sorted NOW!” but this is from the last couple of weeks.

Recycling:

  • 4 magazines (finally read)
  • Empty toilet duck
  • Empty anti bacterial spray bottle
  • 30 toilet roll insides
  • 2 catalogues

Bin:

  • light timer switch that doesn’t work
  • 4 pens that don’t work
  • A broken Christmas ornament 😢
  • 2 pairs of holey trainer socks
  • An awful Christmas decoration that’s so badly made it just needs binning rather than me looking at it in the box every year
  • A used up candle
  • Half used hair mousse that makes my hair sticky
  • 2 old bobbly sheets that are really uncomfy
  • 2 old half used compact foundations which have gone hard
  • 1 pair of sock with holes in
  • 4 cracked kitchen drawer dividers
  • 5 Paper plates which are water marked
  • 2 lavender drawer pouches which have lost their smell

Clothes bank
Nice quality but haven’t used for the 4 years

  • 2 sheets
  • 1 duvet cover
  • 2 pillow cases

Taken in to work:

  • Brand new exfoliating mit
  • 4 books
  • 1 book returned to a friend (we swap books every couple of months) I am not accepting any more until I have read the books I already have. This goes against all my principles as a book lover when someone recommends a book… so I’m proud of myself!

Total so far in 2026: 271

IncessantNameChanger · 24/01/2026 17:06

I'm stalling a bit but I have had such a busy two weeks. I really intend to get my act together next week. I had a bag of shoes in the car which has finally gone in the clothing bin. They was past their best so pointless trying to donate them.

In pj me x2, long gray cardi, sweater, 2 pairs jeggings, 3 handbags, one new sewing bag

Out hanger
OOD food / vitamins count as 1
Dd fake uggs

Total out 189
Total in = 24

CheesePlantFeet · 24/01/2026 17:21

Tackled a small mountain of paperwork today. Got rid of 4x instruction manuals, and shredded a stack of papers

Total 220

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 24/01/2026 19:27

Getting that bank task completed the other day has pushed me on to do more of the same. Sorted, tidied, filed foday. Googled whatever I didn’t understand. I know what I need to get done next. Expect to complete a phone banking task tomorrow.

That reminds me I need to recycle instructions manuals! I have a special box in the cupboard. I haven’t even got the items anymore!
Sold another item on Vinted. So item and another box. My supply of recycled boxes is almost a divorce from DH.

DecemberGloom · 24/01/2026 21:53

My Vinted sales have totally dried up. I’m testing a few items on eBay instead to see if any takers.

Nothing decluttered today, but all my body lotions now in one place so I’m working through one bottle at a time.

Zireael · 24/01/2026 22:05

We decluttered DS’s complete iCandy travel system today; took it to Barnardos and they were thrilled with it. I felt a little sad to part with it but it had to be done!

IndianSummer78 · 25/01/2026 04:38

Worn out underwear binned.

Realfastfoodie · 25/01/2026 10:24

Hopefully posting vinted sales today. And do a big sort of toys and Lego, so they are more sorted and less cluttered

GreenSageBlueTopaz · 25/01/2026 11:18

Dropping off four bags of children's clothes to a nephew today. Be glad to get the extra space. So almost cleared DSs room now to add to DDs room.
I'll try and put some things on marketplace tomorrow. I want to do some book bundles of children's fiction, not sure if they sell but worth a go.

I decluttered a massive amount of clothes yesterday. Stuff I've been keeping in case I fit into it again - not a massive weight gain but enough that lots of things haven't fit me for a couple of years. I kept them to inspire me to lose weight... well it didn't! I realised they were quite literally weighing me down. I got a bit hung up on how much money I'd wasted (although lots purchased on vinted) and considered trying to sell them but I know myself and once I've made the decision I just need them gone or I just start thinking "oh I'll just keep this one in case blah blah" At an estimate I would say 150 items of clothing easily. I rang my fave charity shop to check if I drive there right now they would want them (sometimes its the wrong time of day) they said yes so in the car they went and they ARE GONE!!! I feel so so relieved I hadn't realise what a burden it was to keep them, store them, agonise over keeping them. I'm left with the stuff that fits and that I wear. I will do a run through of those ones too perhaps next weekend to see if there are any that even though they fit I'm not reaching for. Anyway I hope this inspires anyone in the same boat!

DecemberGloom · 25/01/2026 13:47

One old perfume bottle (my favourite and very expensive Tiffany and Co edp) gone. I loved it but it has gone a funny colour in the lid so no pretty enough to keep.

Two Vinted parcels posted.

This is amazing and very inspirational! Well done!

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 25/01/2026 16:05

Within minutes of posting, I sold a Cath Kidston brolly on Vinted. Will take it to the locker in a bit.

Vinorosso74 · 25/01/2026 17:19

A few small bits out today: finished a couple of free samples of body lotion and a moisturiser, a lipstick which had gone off and some ancient stickers.
I need time on my own to list some items on Vinted and to see if some books are worth selling on one of those book resale places. DP gets in the way if he's home!
Usual drop off of soft plastic recycling too.
