Whatever your speed or method, whether it’s a few shelves, a couple of boxes or entire attics, rooms, or garages, come here and share both your successes and your struggles. There’s support and commiserations, and lots of good ideas.

So, the knitting patterns have gone and I have met one of my neighbours for the first time. She doesn't take up any space, so that's a win.

Also, and this is a biggie, I have shredded my divorce file, after 29 years! I kept it just in case I had to show DDs what their F was really like, but (a) they have figured it out for themselves now and (b) he delivered his bitterest insults by fax and they have all faded so much as to be illegible.

I feel so much lighter. That one definitely sparked joy.

One set of false lashes used up.
One body lotion used up.
One pair of slightly too small joggers donated.
One candle used up and remains binned.
Total is 4246

outs

2 pairs of trousers
A learning game
A long sleeved top

Total outs 117

You are all doing amazing!

I haven't done anything in over a week, had a cold that has lingered and coupled with a migraine that would just not shift resulted in it really knocking me for 6. Normally I can carry on but, I have just felt soooo lethargic!

Dh has also been off of work for a few days so I haven't really been able to crack on when a little energy has returned.

Having new broadband fitted today 🥳 and I am volunteering this afternoon. No decluttering today but will aim for some this weekend and hopefully business as usual on Monday!

Keep up the great work!

stealthninjamum · 16/01/2026 14:15

I’m largely maintaining so not much is really leaving.

Outs since I last posted include
a used up pen
a top
a dress
a meat thermometer that never seemed to work
old birthday cake candles
and another box of chocolates from Xmas going to a food bank

Total is now 25
I’ll be delighted if I can manage 1 a day this year

Everyday decluttering
i am largely on top of this but I’ve just shredded Xmas cards and recent junk mail
im enjoying a Jo Malone candle that was a gift as I sit here. I started it before Xmas and it’s a real treat to light it when I’m doing admin. It lasts for ages, I can see why people buy them now
skincare. I’m still using up Xmas gifts from Xmas 2024 - little lip gloss things and moisturisers

digital declutter
I have forced myself to do 15 minute bursts at the laptop deleting emails. I deleted 500
that go back to 2024.

This evening I will be filing all emails from 2025 / 2026 and will make a list of admin that result from them.

How useable the shoes are? Sorry.

I’ve taken old shoes to Schuh @Touchwood2654 and they’ve accepted them in any condition, even really battered ones with the sole coming loose!

It's very hard to decluter when there are essential things to do as well. I have got a few jobs I can not put off and all elements of housework have gone in the bin right now

I have the same problem ☹️ DH and I were both ill after Christmas and last Sunday was the first day that I felt fully recovered, but I spent most of the day doing housework and catching up on laundry - no chance of getting other things done like putting away the Xmas presents, never mind decluttering! Hoping to get something done this weekend.

Can you only use one £5 per new shoes purchased? I want to get ds18 some Dr Martins fir school so they last for uni

Yes I have had a DLA form to complete, a EHCP annual review, my daughters private EP report to comment on. Then to top it off a developer is trying to claim my drive which is on my title deeds.

However the universe has broken about six things which was zero effort decluttering.

Some white Stuff leather bags have fallen into my shopping bag. Long term plan to only have long lasting leather handbags so some will go ( she lied).

Stealth my sister gifts me Jo Malone. 😍

Hangers x 4
Flower pot smashed
Total out 186
Total in = 14

Zireael · 16/01/2026 19:42

I have been clothes shopping today as I have decluttered almost five stone of body fat since April last year, and none of my old clothes are even vaguely passable to wear.
Which means tomorrow I am going through my wardrobe again for another load of Vinted uploads

orangetriangle · 16/01/2026 19:51

I absolutely 💯 need to start de cluttering it's crazy in here so much so we can't even put the xmas decs back in loft as there is no room trouble is by the time I have worked all week from home and done all the ordinary housework washing ironing etc it seems like a mammoth task but I need to pick one box or cupboard and start
hate all the stuff hanging around though but has to get worse before it gets better I guess!

orangetriangle · 16/01/2026 19:53

I was also ill all over xmas before Xmas and new year which doesn't help I have way too much stuff I only have a three bedroom small bungalow and one bedroom is occupied by my adult son!

orangetriangle · 16/01/2026 20:01

I have managed to bin some old bras and get rid of 2 bags of charity shop stuff just before Xmas I have bought one of these wrapping paper and labels and trimming box things so decluttered 3 bags of bits into that also got a box for all the tree ornaments though it hasn't made it back to the loft yet got numerous amounts of cardboard sitting in the garden waiting to go to the tip oh and an old metal shower caddy!
it's never ending grrrr

LivingDeadGirlUK · 16/01/2026 20:14

Really busy week at work and I've not really managed to do any decluttering, just about managed to keep the house reasonably tidy...

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 16/01/2026 22:28

Out - disney princess dress

Realfastfoodie · 16/01/2026 23:21

Well… I managed a bit more “tidying up” and shoved about 30 bits in the bins (of which I think 12 were proper “outs” rather than just stuff for the bins if you see what I mean. And another 10-15 little bits I put on one side to donate (which I won’t count until they leave). This kind of clutter is really the worst part of our house clutter…. Thousands of little bits of stuff that just takes up our space.

2026 year to date - 165

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 17/01/2026 07:41

Morning all - sold a pair of Hotter boots on Vinted yesterday. Only paid a tenner & they went for £25 so pretty chuffed. I need to do a bit of trying on today then possibly more photographing & posting. There’s a few size 14s in my wardrobe & I doubt I will ever get back to that size but I’m finding it hard to let go, especially the dresses which used to look fab!

Yes, it’s only one £5 voucher per purchase.

NorthernDancer · 17/01/2026 09:41

Today's out - a pack of beeswax wraps that I never really got to grips with.

Today's revelation - a lot of the stuff that DH complains about is actually his and appearances are that he has no interest in clearing it out himself.

NorthernDancer · 17/01/2026 16:09

Now getting to grips with the bottom of the dresser where things have just been crammed in for years. I have just jettisoned one tub of Polyfilla and a bottle of wood glue, both of which had gone completely solid, accompanied by two bottles bags that were too scrunched up to be used again. They've gone in the recycling.

Realfastfoodie · 17/01/2026 16:29

Went through a box from store, which has been sitting on the side. So far lots of things returned to their home, and 5 things for the bin (little bits rather than big ones but it all helps). I’ve put several things in my big charity pile though, so that’s another 3
when they finally go. Also working on using up some kids craft kits and birthday present craft type items. Some of these are better than others but all of them will give me space back in a drawer 😅 my kids don’t know they Are helping me declutter 😅

Vinorosso74 · 17/01/2026 18:04

Today has been general cleaning and tidying so a few papers out. I also took the blister pack recycling to Superdrug.
I spent about 15 minutes sorting some things to go for charity, Vinted etc. I'm away for 3 days this week to see my parents so will deal with it once I'm back.

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 18/01/2026 01:54

Out - one small backpack with broken magnetic clasp. Tool to fix would cost more than the bag. Tempting for a few minutes, but I have other bags and horrible procrastination.

Enjoying the neat shelves and I keep tidying as I go along.

Iceisnice · 18/01/2026 08:38

Yesterday I managed to shred all the outstanding paperwork (a bin bags worth 😬) and cleared a small and double kitchen cupboard (wall ones so my nose doesn't block when I bend down 😆) and apart from a handful of things the stuff was binned/recycled. It was approx 1/2 a laundry basket worth of just general gubbins!

Plans for today are more work on the kitchen.... feeling better so should hopefully be able to tackle the bottom cupboards. Hope you all have a productive day!
