Spring cleaning for sloths

I need to deep clean my place if anyone wants to join me. The thread will just consist of people saying what they intend to do and letting us know when it's done at a leisurely pace.

Have stalled too.
How can you all spring clean when it's so lovely outside? I have been taking long walks and meeting friends.
Today am going to attempt taking a bag of clothes to the charity shop but likely won't.

I'm glad you're enjoying the weather, sounds like you're having a lovely time.

I have got out the mop and bucket and am planning to do the bathroom floor.

Today I cleaned the kitchen and bathroom floors. I also cleaned the outside of the kitchen and bathroom cupboards.

Tomorrow I'm going to do pictures.

I know what you mean, this weather is lovely and I feel like I have more energy, just not for cleaning!!
Today I have done a load of laundry, put clean away, took my daughter to her hospital appt, had lunch out with her, then did a quick top up shop and went for a swim. Still haven't cleaned up after cooking dinner. Have no idea how people fit in cleaning around everything else. I guess it is low priority for me but it really shouldn't be as it gets me down. Working tomorrow so let's hope I can get something done at weekend.

You are making progress! I really need to do my floors, maybe Saturday....

I'm slowly getting there. Good luck with the floors.

Today I'm doing the pictures and using a magic sponge to clean marks on paintwork.

I've already cleaned 4 pictures and having a break. Lovely weather here today.

Maitri108 · 08/03/2025 10:47

Yesterday I took marks off the walls, cleaned the pictures and even cleaned the inside of the front door.

Today I'm going to tackle the cobwebs.

I did quite a bit over the weekend. I dusted the corners, cleaned the cutlery drawer and the tiles in the kitchen. I also decluttered some cupboards.

I'm going to do the kitchen extractor fan next.

That's all so good. I am never motivated enough to keep up the momentum like this so you are doing great. I didn't do anything much apart from the bare minimum of laundry and tidying of ktchen. Am stuck in procrastination mode this morning. Making yet another list to see if it helps me get stuff done later.

You'll get there. I know how it feels to be overwhelmed. I find that once I get going it snowballs. I'm just chipping away at it.

I struggle to keep on top of it! I can do washing, dishwasher, general tidy and hoover when I can but it's everything else. I try and give main bathroom a clean most days but it's a quick clean not a deep one that it needs, have a second bathroom that is hard to keep on top of!

I'm no expert but instead of doing a whole room, just do one thing. Eg today I'll dust the skirting boards. I'll wipe down the outside of the cupboards. That kind of thing.

Any recommendations for cleaning the oven racks?

Wire wool, water and fairy liquid. Wear rubber gloves or it will destroy your nails.
I like a clean house but am a bit of a sloth.
My top tips are fluffy duster (either flash or Pledge) for surfaces and skirting boards and cobwebs.
Squeegy for cleaning windows inside and out, after sponging with fairy liquid and hot water.
Silicone or rubber brush for cleaning stair carpet or rugs especially if you have pets.

Yesterday I cleaned the freezer.

I haven't done the extractor but am going to sloth out and have a break.

You definitely deserve a sloth break!
The bathroom is bothering me. Going to try to set a timer for 15mins tomorrow and see how much deep cleaning I can get done in there.
I keep seeing people suggesting timers, music, podcasts etc. I am going to try some of these ideas to see if I can find an approach that works for my very easily bored brain.

Am exactly the same! Can manage to do basics like laundry, cooking, tidying and quick cleans. My house is actually quite tidy most of the time but I never seem to have energy/motivation to do deep cleans or spring cleaning. I get bored so easily.

I'm knackered! I haven't started on the bedroom because I'm having work done in there, so I've still got that to do.

I've had a sloth break and am looking to organise my tree and Christmas decorations. I've bought a bauble box so will go through them all and sort them out.

Podcasts are great when you want to forget what you're doing. Good luck with the bathroom.

Hi again, I left the thread for a bit as well...life happens.

But today I have been on it, hoovered and dusted rooms downstairs plus stairs, cleaned downstairs loo, got more cleaning done in kitchen plus bedding washed and changed. Tomorrow I plan to focus on upstairs bedrooms and the dreaded bathroom.

I just need to maintain this so I have more time to do a few more deep cleaning tasks. Feeling much better that I have done something. It actually didn't take too long as there is much less clutter.

Decluttering is definitely the solution if you are a sloth!! X

Maitri108 · 18/03/2025 14:15

@Stuffocation You're doing amazingly. I've also been busy. I've washed the mattress protector and have arranged for the duvet to be laundered. I've got a new valance so am finally sorting out the bed.

Today I got the mattress protector back on. Mammoth task as it fits right over the mattress and has to be zipped up.

Sounds like a work out! Have been at work today but yesterday I did the upstairs bedrooms as planned and deep cleaned most of the bathroom including the floor which desperately needed it! Just need to do a few more bits in there especially the shower screen (most hated job).
The house is looking much better.
Going to continue kitchen tasks tomorrow if time, cupboard fronts are grim.
Hope you all are having a good week x

I'm glad you can see an improvement, it's so satisfying. You're making great sloth strides.
