Spring cleaning for sloths

I need to deep clean my place if anyone wants to join me. The thread will just consist of people saying what they intend to do and letting us know when it's done at a leisurely pace.

I cleaned :
downstairs loo including the storage shelves (DS bristle hair !)
and windows when it was less sunny and they had less risk of going streaky

Bought a new bedding set for DS so he would'nt cook ( cotton)
Vacuumed ( I have a Shark vacuum which equally impresses and horrifies me with what it picks up )

To Do List:

outside bins -sluice with some disinfectant
Weed the OSP ( DH can do this )
Charity shop drop off
Take DD dress to get it adjusted
Wrap DD birthday presents

I'm decorating so my cleaning is on hold. The place is a mess.

I've organised a charity collection for the end of the month.

I’m very late to this thread - hope it’s ok to join. I want to clean my kitchen properly from top to bottom, but probably very slowly.

List to start off with:
skirting boards
baseboards
windowsill
plate and cup cupboard (inside)
shelf near cooker
shelves near door
top cutlery drawer
dust inside radiator

(edited for phone typos)

@BlueberryFlapjack Welcome and slow is good.

How do you dust inside the radiator?

Thanks @Maitri108 :)

I’m not 100% sure, but I ordered a special duster online, and if I can remember where I put it I’ll let you know! (I guess not every radiator has theses stupid holes along the top that let dust in, so yours might not need dusting.)

Thanks. I usually hoover the grids over the top of the radiator.

Checking in. I have the hairdresser coming today. My reason to deep clean the playroom by 3.30. It's been a while.

Why is my house dirty again!?!?!?!

I literally cleaned it a few weeks ago and now the windows need cleaned AGAIN. How often are people supposed to clean their windows do you think?

Probably weekly which is just lunacy. I'm outraged.

Dogaredabomb · 25/06/2025 10:11

I had a friend visit yesterday who said 'have you not unpacked yet?' I had unpacked, it just doesn't look like it 😂

Maitri108 · 25/06/2025 11:12

My decorating is finished. I now need to put everything back. Then I have to clear two rooms for a carpet fitting. 😓

I do inside once a month and outside every few months.

@Maitri108 decorating and clearing for carpets - the ultimate reset. Big job but I always find the reality is easier than the anticipation.

@Dogaredabomb more often since we got a cat! Still not often enough I suspect, I do tend to notice the difference when I do it.

We have a window cleaner once a month (outside) .
I notice the inside windows more in summer , you can see the streaks more Blush
I do the whole net curtains and wash inside , wipe the seals etc every now and then. Probably not as often as I should .

Large bag of clothes to recycling bank (not charity shop worthy )

Enjoying reading the thread from the beginning but thought I'd save most of it to dip into for inspiration from day to day, coz I need to make a start! The place is pretty tidy on the surface BUT the cupboards tell a VERY different story, and I feel like I don't want to start decluttering those until I've done a decent clean. Then once the cleaning and decluttering are done (if I ever get there...) I want to do a deeper clean (eg. dusty walls, radiators, skirting boards etc). I keep on top of the bathroom from week to week, and the kitchen is generally tidy from day to day (although it always takes me weeks to get round to the floor and bits that need dusting 🙄) but I need to make a start on the other rooms. Hoping to manage the living room and one bedroom today, including hoovering which I struggle with coz of my dodgy back!

Thanks for the encouragement @Maitri108 , just read your most recent posts and it looks like you've been decorating. Wowzers! 😲 You are officially not a sloth, I know that much!
