So this is my thread. I'm circling the drain, descending into CHAOS and this is my kickback. And I'm dragging you lucky people along for the ride 😁.

This is FlyLady. It's a system for sorting your shit out. It works, but only if you do it. It doesn't work so good if you only think about doing it. So get off your butts and clean some shite, people! 🧹🧴🧽🧼

We're fighting CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) 🧑‍🤝‍🧑🚫. You can't clean clutter so you've got to declutter 🗑️, which isn't as daunting as it sounds 🦧 because it's only 15 minutes a day. Your house didn't get skanked up overnight 🏚️ 🦠 so it's not getting de-skanked overnight either 🏠. We won't judge how skanky your house is because we are too are skank-sisters 🧟💩🦟, but trying our hardest to become blessed Queens 👸🤴 of our domestic realms, with varying success please don't sue me if you prefer to identify as a unicorn 🦄 or whatever, you're still welcome. With FlyLady as our inspiration 🧚. Be kind to yourselves and do whatever you can. Baby steps 🐾(FlyLady has those on her website), follow them.

There's probably a whole bunch of stuff I was supposed to tell you but haven't. Apologies. 🍒👋 (Cherry waves, for anyone who can't see emojis) is a corruption of cheery waves, long before my time, and it's stuck - were not insanely flinging fruit at you, promise.

Today's foray into the FlyLady archives was the subject of skating through life, doing the bare minimum to get by and ultimately making life harder for yourself because what helps us right now isn't necessarily what's best long term. FlyLady says don't skip the BabySteps because those are the foundation for making the system work. If you try to build something with shaky foundations it'll all come crashing down around you. Guilty as charged! She says guilt manifests in many ways including weight gain, relationship problems, low self esteem, insomnia etc so we owe it to ourselves to establish solid foundations on which to build our lives. The BabyStep focus this month is on drinking enough water and I'm pretty good at that already. Decluttering and getting enough sleep are my worst ones so I'll be making more effort this month to focus on those

Welcome back @GreenWillowAndFairyLights ! I drop off here all the time 🥂 but I always come back and try again !

Thanks @DitzyDaffodils , DP is a good man, we've been together 21 years but I don't think he realises how sensitive I am about home comments , I used to be so houseproud to the point of ironing socks and underwear so they would sit nice in the drawers 🤦‍♀️😂 but 'having it all' just isn't working , I love my job and I love my family but this whole running the home thing just runs chaotically and it really causes me a lot of anxiety and stress ! I don't think it bothers him in the same way so he doesn't get it if that makes sense ?

Last night I didn't do anything else , I had run out of steam ! A takeaway and snuggles on the sofa with dd2 instead! I've had a decent nights sleep so hopefully a little more energetic today !

Take Dd2 to gymnastics, it's a 3 hour session today so whilst she's there, I'm going to pop to the opticians and pick up some more lenses , declutter some more emails ( I have about 42k 😱, I've been unsubscribing from them and deleting them as a group , aiming to unsubscribe and delete 2k each gym session and by the end of June I should be at a normal level of emails 🤪😂) and update my diary

I won't get home until about 4/430ish it'll be straight into the evening routine of tea and catch up on the days chores !

Love this thread, I can keep up with it, it helps me see what I've achieved since joining, and gives me a place to witter on about nothing in particular 😉
TaDas, just keeping up with my daily bits and bobs, if it's a 5 minute job just do it. All the 5 minutes add up and keeps everything ticking along.
Now the weather has warmed up again my huge ToDo will be pulling everything out of my tack room, get everything organised, then finally empty everything horse related out of my dining room. I think it will take me the best part of a week!
Then will be the dining room's turn to be gutted, and that's my whole house decluttered.

Well done on the whole house decluttering @CherryogDog ! You are at the finishing line now - amazing!

✅ went outside , decluttered a few bits that had been stashed in a car (sounds very strange but we have a car on the back garden that DP can't bring himself to get rid of yet because he drove all 3 kids home from hospital in it, the kids play in it and he shows the kid's different bits of the engine etc , however , we had shoved a few things in there doing a quick dash tidy before we had visitors come to stay then actually forgot they were in there 😂😂) I threw away a printer and a runner for the bed ?? I have no idea why they got put in the car ?? 😂😂 honestly we were in a desperate whirlwind a few years back, I think I may find even more strange things in the decluttering process . So funny !! There are a few more bits in there but I'm only doing a bit at a time.
✅ asked ds to go through his shoes and football boots , threw a couple of pairs and put a pair in the charity bag
✅dd2 tidied away her toys 🙌🏻🙌🏻
✅ very quick tidy downstairs

A lovely afternoon adapted so we could enjoy the weather , I'm looking forward to tomorrow! No solid plans , just go with the flow and prepping for the week ahead - maybe even find some more treasures in the beloved car or one of the sheds 😂

This week's pamper mission is to relax, just that, no instructions only the suggestion from FlyLady of giving yourself a scalp massage because it helps your hair grow.

Fits in very nicely with today being renew your spirit day. Take some me-time, because you can't pour from an empty cup.

Cherry this is a good thread, it's the only one I try to keep up with. Ah "having it all"...the lie we were sold as children, that it could be achieved with nothing more than hard work and dedication. The positive-mindset rebranding of "doing it all", with a side order of guilt, because if you haven't achieved it then it's surely your own fault for not trying hard enough 🤬. Sure, it works - for a short while until you burn out. I like FlyLady's focus on losing the perfectionism, that helps. Hopefully FlyLady will help you get back to a level where you can feel relaxed and happy in your home again

Morning everyone!

I realise I'm posting a lot but you won't hear much from me from tomorrow as I'll be back to work 😝 It helps to jot it down somewhere that is safe and understanding, I tend to focus on whats been done rather than what I haven't if that makes sense ? It helps to refocus my mindset - so thank you for reading my posts ❤️❤️

I'm up early this morning (woke up about 5ish to a light bedroom and the birds singing - pleasant but would've been happy with another hour or so of sleep 😴) I've enjoyed a coffee in peace and I'm going to make the most of everyone still being asleep by getting tomorrow's clothes ready! I may even have time to spend my 15 mins on the kitchen which I'm looking forward to - I have a cupboard that is driving me crazy !! Hopefully all my jobs will be done and I can enjoy the day in the garden with my family ❤️

@DitzyDaffodils my emails are now 39.6k 😂 they'll be gone by the end of June ! Luckily I am much more organised with my work emails !!

I have had a huge blitz on old email the last couple of years @Searchingforsunnydays - in a way they aren't doing any harm and I do keep quite a lot as its surprising how often I search one out for info. But it feels good to get rid. I reckon I get about 40 a day over several accounts (not including work) so they mount up quickly. At work I keep at least half of them for future reference.

I've been awake for about an hour but am in bed reading. The birds are chirping and the sun is out, I like Sunday mornings because there is very little traffic noise.

House is still a building site but it is starting to look a lot better. Decorators are back tomorrow, then the electrician to do the second fix of lights and sockets, then just the flooring to go, unfortunately that has been delayed a bit so we might be stuck with all our stuff out of place for a while yet.

I think I can remember your email clear out @EvenmoreDisorganised - they do build up very quickly ! I have unsubscribed from quite a few so hopefully the daily email count will lessen quite a bit . Enjoy your relaxing Sunday morning - What book are you reading ?

Morning everyone 👋 😊

I got woken up from a really deep sleep in the middle of the night, totally disorientated, by a sound like a sink overflowing.
For some bizarre reason I thought we had a burglar like in Home Alone. I was too scared to get out of bed but kept bellowing "what are you doing". Until my poor DP answered "I'm being sick" 😅😅
I'm a bit emetaphobic, (despite working in the NHS for 15 years) and had to cover my head with a pillow so I couldn't hear or smell anything 😅 🙃.
No sympathy from me lol.
So I'm a bit wrecked today, and a day of self care is just what need.
A gentle potter doing my daily routines and maybe sort my linen cupboard which has been on my ToDo list for ages.

I cleared a few hundred, and unsubscribed to nearly everything.
Also loads of old texts and FB messages.
Makes me think I'm doing something when I'm sat down 😉

Thay gives me hope for the future Sunny. DD1 was allergic to sleep for the first 2 years of her life, and would still happily go without it now at 6, although she’s starting to sleep in a little later.

I’ve started June with most of the house fairly tidy don’t look in the dining room but all in need of a scrub . It’s still proving impossible to get much done with 18 month DD2 on the go but I’m channelling fly lady and her anti-perfectionism and trying to remember every little bit helps.

Today I need to iron work clothes, and also hoover everywhere and spruce up the kitchen and bathroom as MIL is having DD2 here tomorrow. The dining room definitely needs work too as it has yet again become DD1’s craft room, complete with scattering of paper scraps, pen lids and sequins on the floor and the addition of lumps of glitter glue and half finished art littering the table.

I have about 20k E-mails, down from about 30k after random bouts of deleting some. That, I am both horrified and impressed.

@Searchingforsunnydays I have a Times subscription on my phone so I was reading that. Bookwise I am mainly doing audio books at the moment, currently listening to An Honest Man by Ben Fergusson about an 18 year old boy and his friends living in West Berlin in 1989 in the build-up to the fall of East Germany, really enjoying it.

I have got up and gone to the allotment leaving everyone else asleep, the benefits of having teenagers.

Just incase anyone disbelieves haha!
