Following Flylady into September - Fledglings starting a new term

Welcome to the September Flylady Thread where we follow the Flylady routines for running our homes and lives. Links to the relevant parts of the Flylady site are posted each morning (most of the time - see naughty corner below). The Fledgling threads are long running, some have been posting for years some are new, all are welcome. Just jump in and ask if you don’t understand anything. The chat is an important part of the thread too, housework is not the be all and end all, we like to pass the time amongst friends while we get our houses in order.

This is not a strict thread but a gentle way of following the guidelines on the Flylady website without having to sign up the emails, which can become a bit overwhelming. Do as much or as litle as you can, there is no judgement here.

If you are new to the system start with the baby steps. These are designed to get you into a routine so you know longer think about doing the chores they are just habit. Set time, set day - do the thing. We do recognise that this is not a good system for quick decluttering and many of us in the past have combined this system with other systems for getting the heavy duty sorting out and cleaning out done. We don't judge.

Babysteps and household focus zones start again on the 1st of every month hence a new thread at the start of each month to keep things orderly. That is one of the great things about Flylady, you can jump in whenever because everything comes back round again soon. You are never behind.

Lastly we have a naughty corner - if you are struggling in any way this is a spot to join in the chat snuggled into comfy cushions with some nice drinks and nibbles until you feel ready to Fly again. So even if you have not lifted a finger around the house you can stay and chat. The thread leader may be found there from time to time putting the kettle on and plumping up the cushions.

Welcome to September.

This link www.flylady.net/c/lp.php is the Flylady launchpad. All the different parts of the system can be found here.

This is the Flighplan - the do do list which updates daily www.flylady.net/c/fp.php?tzm=-60

Babysteps are here www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/31-beginner-babysteps/

There are actually some good ornament sock patterns out there which will take you through the process of knitting the sock technique wise. Just consider the fact it can be more fiddly with the tinier number of stitches. But go for it, it is a very good way to start.

Ds is covid negative. I am so tired I burnt pasta at lunch. Ds is cooking pasta for tea, so i will still get the past but no risk of burning again.

<sidles in from naughty corner>
I almost have normal<for me>skin on my hands now think scaly dragon to anyone else.
I need to ensure this Never Happens Again as was beyond painful for 3days of oozing blisters and thank heavens for epaderm and soapfree soap is the best I can say of the experience!

Chez zoo has gone to the dogs in my unflying
phase ,which was a disaster when disorganised council repairs sent workmen a day late for different job and he nearly broke neck on detritus on landing when ventured upstairs to check cracked walls....
He was a plasterer but actually fix drop, now running it's been wait that long, hot tap in kitchen.downside he decided my friendly chat was a semi green light and was try chat me up a bit, despite me lathering it thicker than thick I have a partner of 20 years and 3zoolets together (he doesn't need to know it's definitely more off than on these days!haha) he then said was sad wouldn't be allocated the plastering job so he could come back and sat in his van outside 45 minutes "eating lunch".(l locked door and was very antsy til he drove off)

Zoolets are all spinning on wild tangents - D's is hopefully starting school on Tuesday with transport team poked extensively for a start date achieved over past few days.dd2 is on verge full breakdown, spending two hours last night sobbing uncontrollable heaving sobs.camhs are aware she's at crisis point and said two weeks ago med review imminent..lil zoo hasn't been in school two days with acute gut pain/constipation agsin.but won't take meds or eat properly on school days and will only drink at nightie on school days too<sighs at merry go round of be there again>

Today i walk dd2 to town to return and acquire library books(our local one got axed in big council cutback as covid bit)and grab a few cleaning essentials.she saw and a quired a Halloween blankie as she's obsessed with Halloween/autumn and it's been washed and dry on airer by fire ahead of this evening to wrap herself up in

Tomorrow is a Big Birthday for me and a suprise bouquet turned up from some friends today that made me cry as never been spoilt like that before.they really sneaked that on me and everytime I glance over at the beautiful blooms my vision goes all blurry<old age thing I guess🤣>

Hills I will look at the sock link when I get a minute.always fancied knitting some of my own!thank you

Apologies lack personals my brain is away with the fairies in the land of fog today!<sends cheery wingflaps to all>

Ta-da's:

🍭 Cleaned out the washing machine filter again
🍭 Unpacked delivery and put away
🍭 Tidied bedroom
🍭 Cleared out hand bag
🍭 Life admin
🍭 Went to pharmacy for prescription

The sock talk is like reading a foreign language. I vote you make a Christmas stocking for the ornamental one or some tiny decs 🧦 for the tree 🌲 Willow

Happy birthday 🎉🎂 for tomorrow Zoo glad your hands are better even if they are still lizard like 🦎

It's very dark and wet today and I've had to put the heating on tonight 😩

pompomsontheceiling · 30/09/2022 19:20

@Stilllivinginazoo I love the word detritus!

@DitzyBluebells it's so cold here but we are resisting the heating. I wonder what's more expensive: driving round in a warm car or putting the central heating on at home.

DitzyBluebells · 30/09/2022 19:39

Pompoms the car is more expensive dont ask how I know . Have you got blankets and hot water bottles and cozy cardigans etc? Scarves make a lot of difference too, if you tuck the ends inside your jumper's neck they don't get in the way. A draft excluder for the living room door helps stop cold air blowing in underneath it.

Endless waiting tonight for a parcel that's 1 1/2hrs late so far.

WeegieGranny · 30/09/2022 20:11

Keeping my head above water this week, just and no more. LG had total meltdown here at home after the PSE class where they were told to write down something sad and how they could have made it better. Then she was not allowed to use her toilet pass to leave the classroom until she finished the task. She did everything she was told to then raged at us for two solid hours in the evening. I will be emailing this weekend.

EspeciallyDivided · 30/09/2022 21:10

Evening all,

@Stilllivinginazoo the flowers are perfect for today’s mission Flowers. Happy birthday for tomorrow!

@HillsBesideTheSea - totally understand re thread, hope things pick up for you a bit soon

@WeegieGranny that is shocking, poor LG. Hope the school will be suitably contrite and not try anything like that again.

@GreenWillowAndCatkins great list and yes please to thread leading.

@pompomseverywhere I love that word too

@DitzyBluebells agree about scarves, I keep a thin, neutral coloured one in my desk at work for chilly days and it makes a huge difference.

Tada!

🍏Got up and took in Ocado order (don’t usually use them but they sent me a £15 voucher). Put away shopping.
🍎Took DD to station, got head chewed off for trying to make conversation in car
🍏Swept kitchen floor
🍎Breakfast
🍏Zoom yoga class
🍎Went out with friend for dog walk
🍏Home, lunch

<drum roll> - I anti-procrastinated, decluttered, erranded and cleaned out my handbag all in one afternoon. Popped to town and took am Ikea bag of stuff to the charity shop, went to bank to close an old account with a few £ in it (had been procrastinating for months, not helpe by the bank now having v. short opening hours). Erranded by dropping fabric off to upholsterer who is making a new seat cushion for a chair for me.

So that’s me for the month. Over to you @GreenWillowAndCatkins Flowers

I'm confused as usual. I've just been on the launch pad and seen it was living room zone and entrance/front porch zone. But in the instructions they only relate to the living room.
