Hi! Is anyone else looking for a tidying buddy? I think I would really appreciate some company while I work through unpacking and tidying away our house! We have just moved and its a terrible tip.... I am on my own with my DC and so its just me who has to get on with the tidying. Im not very well at the mo so a bit low in energy... so I think I need to give myself some boosting motivation. SOO... if you don't mind I will make a start and plod on. Anyone fancy joining me and we can cheer each other on?

Go on, I’ll join.

I need to walk the dog then when I get back I need to sort through all the boxes of decorations and put back what needs to go into the garage.

Then I need to hoover the (very tinselly) stairs and landing!

CrumpledCrumpet · 10/12/2021 10:56

Yep!

Job today is cleaning and tidying basically the whole house.

petal2019 · 10/12/2021 11:01

Oh great! Im so glad Im not alone! Right well... I think its a room by room attempt with me. So if you dont find it too mind numbing I will report in as I go along. Im on hour 1/5. See what I can get done. Im going to start in the kitchen. Let me know how you are getting on. @CrumpledCrumpet it sounds like you are similarly ambitious to me...where are you starting!!
@NoSquirrels Im envious of your order!! sounds organised!! Good luck. So... hob first!

Kitchen first here! Will report in!

Mogloveseggs · 10/12/2021 11:18

Oh yes me please
Kitchen, Downstairs and my room needs doing plus a general sweep round the bathrooms.
I've nearly finished the kitchen and I've put a wash load on.

LefttoherownDevizes · 10/12/2021 11:20

Yes, I bought the organised mum app today as I'm literally on the verge of breakdown due to state of house, working full time (in said house) and kids breaking up from Tuesday

petal2019 · 10/12/2021 11:21

Ah that is fun! Glad you are all here! Well, Ive done one side of the kitchen... now face the sink! yuk

OP posts:
petal2019 · 10/12/2021 11:25

oh goodness @LefttoherownDevizes... I feel your stress.... well... if its any comfort I doubt your house can be NEARLY as bad as mine!! Everything (nearly)is in crates in the sitting room!!! I dont know what we can do... except start in one corner and work through. Let me know how you are doing... dont have a nervous breakdown about it..... if you dont I won't either! My mum always says cleaning like poverty is always with us... so praps it is an insurmountable.... endless forth bridge....that just has to be tackled from one side to the other. Anyway... onward with my sink!

petal2019 · 10/12/2021 11:26

but I might look at organised mum.. that sounds marvellous!

Please can I join!

Main job today is putting laundry away 😩. Also need to fit a food shop in around DD (5 months).

Currently drinking coffee must get a move on 😳

Moomarre · 10/12/2021 11:38

Me please.

I have little pockets of clutter all over that need tidying

I need to wrap some Christmas presents so I can get rid of a pile of boxes.

Write Christmas cards to get rid of that pile

Hoover everywhere

Put away laundry/ hang up wet laundry

Decorate a cake

All with a two year old in tow.

petal2019 · 10/12/2021 11:40

@Moomarre that sounds very organised... good luck with it!
@bubblebath62636 Please do... of course all welcome and appreciated.

Well, I’ve walked the dog and hung out some towels as it’s a blowy, sunny, brisk day.

But then as I was outside I thought I’d better investigate the slow-draining toilet by lifting a manhole cover and that was unpleasant and has added a more urgent job to the list…
So, not much progress on tinsel & decorations!

Scarby9 · 10/12/2021 13:18

I do!
But I'm going to leeave the mess and go shopping instead (which is reason number 27 why my house looks like it does).

Moomarre · 10/12/2021 16:36

I have little pockets of clutter all over that need tidying - communal areas mostly done

I need to wrap some Christmas presents so I can get rid of a pile of boxes. -wrapped nearly all but still seem to have a pile of boxes Blush

Write Christmas cards to get rid of that pile -nope

Hoover everywhere - very quick non edge hoovering done

Put away laundry/ hang up wet laundry - done

Decorate a cake - dc took over this so done (very badly)

Now onto

Clear up from cake decorating
Dinner prep

I've finally vacuumed all my summer clothes away, DH cleared the landing of all the random clothes the DCs had dumped and then cleared the three laundry baskets off the floor. I finally folded and put away all my clothes, I'd been putting it off for ages and the room looks a million times better. Then I hoovered Shock

Thank you for this thread, it's really helped

Mogloveseggs · 10/12/2021 18:45

Kitchen and downstairs done. Rest will be over the weekend now

petal2019 · 11/12/2021 05:51

You are all doing so well! I ended up having a (separate) crisis and was unable to continue. So onward and upward today. So if anyone is onto it today... I would join them definitely.

I'm here! My house is a complete shit tip. I had my booster and DP has a tooth abcess so we have both been slouching around with matted hair doing sweet FA for the past 4 days and the place is a disaster. Hes normally the tidier/cleaner here and him being out of action really shows 🙈

I'm going to start on the hour, luckily it's a small house...

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 11/12/2021 06:14

I’m with you! ‘D’H is emptying the contents of the loft into the living room to sort through 23 years of crap that he’s shoved up there 😳😡
You honestly wouldn’t believe the rubbish that he’s dragged down here.
It has to be done by Monday evening, the carpet’s going to be utterly filthy and there’s f all I can do until he’s finished.
Luckily Christmas is cancelled here, for many reasons, so at least we are having visitors! From Tuesday I will have the house to myself and DDog, I will give everything a thorough clean while he’s away for 5 days and try to get my equilibrium resettled!
Meanwhile I will declutter the bedrooms in preparation for the house going on the market in 2 weeks 👏

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 11/12/2021 06:15

NOT having visitors!!

LefttoherownDevizes · 11/12/2021 06:18

Oh sorry to hear that @petal2019. Hope today is a better day!

@Valeriane sympathies, I'm just starting with another tooth abscess too and am due booster on Wednesday (first two wet AZ) let me know how you are feeling.

It's the youngest DCs birthday today (13, patent if 3 teenagers, I can't even . . ) so busy day, am going to sorry through the hall and retire all the bags somewhere else so the two blue IKEA bags of shoes can be put away si we can sit in the back room.

Sort through the kitchen cupboards so I know what did we have and what I need to order for the holidays (boring things like stock, ketchup) .

Might see if DH can tackle cupboard under the stairs as need to take a meter reading anyway and then the hoover will be more accessible so might actually use it!

Finally, scoop up and sort through all the paperwork and magazines everywhere.

Anyone know anywhere that takes donations of magazines? I signed up to Tatler and Vogue
for their 6 editions for a £1 and don't read them!

TOMM is good, she allocates 30 mins a day for cleaning and does daily playlists of that length with good pop/rock music to help you along

Valeriane · 11/12/2021 06:29

@LefttoherownDevizes
Oh no, sympathies back at you for the abcess! Third jab of Pfizer and no headaches like the first two, but a shivery dazed flu like feeling and a hugely sore arm and armpit (?!). Post the mags in your local FB group, they're bound to be snatched up.

Music is a great idea, I like to challenge myself to complete a task (eg empty and fill dishwasher) before song ends.

DP pissing me off slightly as he has been groaning on the sofa for past 3 days, I'd like him to move to bedroom so I can use the living room too and not have to tip toe around! Might try and "gently force" him back to the bedroom today.
