Anyone need a tidying buddy today?

Hi! Is anyone else looking for a tidying buddy? I think I would really appreciate some company while I work through unpacking and tidying away our house! We have just moved and its a terrible tip.... I am on my own with my DC and so its just me who has to get on with the tidying. Im not very well at the mo so a bit low in energy... so I think I need to give myself some boosting motivation. SOO... if you don't mind I will make a start and plod on. Anyone fancy joining me and we can cheer each other on?

Tomorrow I'm on to present wrapping.

Pulled out quite a lot from the front of the understairs cupboard that had been dumped there since schools went back. Found some brexit-stash items that'll expire soon, and put them in the kitchen cupboard. Reduced the contents of three stacking tubs into one, which saves a lot of space.

Got right down into the back of the cupboard where it's about two feet high, worked my way back to the door, and now it's easy to see all the way along and down. There are two melon boxes that have become dumping-spots, and three miscellaneous tubs. It should be easy to unpack all these over the next few days and put things where they belong.

@petal2019 how's your unpacking going?

I’m plodding along.

Yesterday I did the utility room. Tidied surfaces and wiped down, took everything off the floor. The dog sleeps in there so her beds - yes two, mats etc. Vacuumed about four times as there was so much hair. Washed the floor and washed the floor mats.

Also dusted and vacuumed the living room.

Today so far I’ve put a wash on, emptied the dishwasher and cleaned the kitchen counters.

About to vacuum kitchen/diner/sitting area and hallway.

I need to finish my Chrismas cards too. Going out this afternoon so could post them if I get them done.

Also planning on dusting and vacuuming a bedroom and changing the bedding.

Understairs cupboard - Reduced the contents of two melon boxes into one. Then came across similar items in my bureau, and these will get moved to understairs cupboard asap.

Obviously, s massive declutter is in order for next year. But what a difference to know that I won't need to search the entire house for lost and misplaced stuff.

Yesterday was a complete write off for me for many reasons, but I'm back on it today!
Plan is to declutter dd room whilst she's at school so won't notice and take out all the clothes that don't fit her. As she's the youngest I don't need to keep any so will donate or just throw out. I keep the nice bits with the intention of selling on Vinted and splitting the money between both girls.

My dc are already developing my tendencies of keeping things as 'I might need that sometime' I realise now it is basically hoarding!

Just want to say well done everyone. @petal2019 Thx for starting this thread. It’s motivating me. I’m getting bit by bit done, a little each day.

Almost completed my tasks posted 3 days ago. I got into cleaning other things not on my list. I’ve done a few loads of washing (so much laundry ), vacuumed, mopped kitchen floor, cleared and organised clutter on the kitchen table, wiped/disinfected kitchen table and chairs, drank some beers and covered and decorated the six pack box to make an art/stationery caddy, organised art’n’craft supplies (used my new caddy), and sorted 1 kitchen cupboard.

For the rest of today:

Bake cake with dd because I promised I would when kitchen was clean.

Continue to sort clutter, shelves, desk.

Vacuum lounge room.

Christmas shopping and Christmas cards tomorrow.

Yesterday was a bit slower in the tidying department. One small cardboard box emptied out and contents now in the correct place.

Box thrown out to avoid the temptation of just dumping things in there instead of spending less than a minute putting them away.

Two bureau drawers cleared of miscellaneous decorating items eg window film, glues, craft knives, with other similar in understairs cupboard which locks and is safer.

The bureau is in my kitchen corner, for reciipe books and gardening magazines. I can get the gardening magazines in there now.

Setting my jobs for the day...

Start eldest dd's room, go through wardrobe and move out smaller things.
Deep clean family bathroom.
Clear dinning room table.
Write and send Xmas cards.
Wrap teacher gifts for tomorrow.

I’m doing bits but not enough I don’t think! Still lots to do.

Today - Costco shop with DH, vacuumed, cleaned 3 of the shelves in the fridge, dusted a bedroom and the landing, tidied DS’s bedroom - well started anyway - he’s bloody 20! Did a load of laundry and have a towel wash on now.

Still to do - finish Christmas cards, fold a load of laundry.

Tomorrow - I need to go shopping for some presents and some more cards and stamps in the morning. Afternoon will be cleaning bathrooms. And vacuuming upstairs.

Yesterday I took photos of some toys, etc, to ask whether other family members might like them. Then boxed them up again and put the box away.

This morning I emptied a large box of books and put them on a shelf. Some of them right at the front so that I can read them when I find time.

Threw the box out into the garden.

It was easier to tidy the kitchen this weekend after last week's efforts.

Got several scattered things off the living-room floor into their tub and the tub into the understairs cupboard. After about a month

Next is another melon box on the same floor where I'been chucking stuff when I walk by. Then the stuff on the card table. After that, just keeping my head above water while Christmas takes over.

Today I need to:

• Tidy DS1 room (I do it everyday to keep on top of it, he is severe SN so can't do it himself)
• Put away clean laundry
• Do another load of laundry

At some point I would like to declutter my wardrobe.

I'm very grateful DH is tidying/cleaning the kitchen this morning

I’m back on it today.

So far I’ve done dishwasher. It’s back on for a quick wash with the dish drainer in it.

Have a load of laundry on.
Have vacuumed most of downstairs.
Walked the dog and posted some cards.

Still to do:
Cobweb clearing upstairs
Change a bed and vacuum upstairs
Mop bathroom floors
Load dishwasher
Clean kitchen surfaces

Living room and hall for me today - I'm going to tackle the minging shoes rack so wish me luck

Then everyone's doing a bedroom blitz tomorrow.

Emptied out the melon box of random bits and then got things back where they belong.

Card table and top of record cabinet next. Then with any luck I can fold up the card table and use the top of the cabinet instead . Itt's about a ten-minute job and I'm doing it right now.

My bedroom has begun to look like something off Hoarders. That's my job today.
Strip bed (wash, dry)
Put all clean washing away
Sort all dirty washing (wash, dry)
Clean and dust
3 boxes of random crap to be sorted - tip/charity/sell

I’m finding this thread helps me focus on what I want to get done in the day.

Yesterday’s jobs moved around a bit. I needed to be downstairs while a workman was here so cleaned the cooker instead of mopping bathroom floors.

So today’s jobs:

Wash bedding from yesterday’s bed change - it’s on right now.
Dishwasher/kitchen/downstairs vacuum - everyday jobs really
Change DS’s bed, dust and vacuum his room once he clears out all the rubbish
Upstairs cobwebs - did downstairs yesterday
Finish vacuuming landing - did as far as a pile of empty boxes yesterday so will move them and finish
Put two baskets of laundry away
Fold a load of laundry

And mop bathroom floors!

So glad I found this thread! Sat in bed with a coffee contemplating where to start! I am working weds/Thurs/Fri so today is the day! There is a small part of me that is whispering 'yes but there is still weds/Thurs/Fri' but so far I am able to ignore .

So what I have done - cleaned the fish out and hoovered the house from top to bottom, cleaned and tidied the boys bedroom. What I need to do is - write Christmas cards (get them out of the way) (very late to this party!), washing, clean and mop kitchen and bathroom (urgh), wrap my brother and family's presents, bath the old stinker (dog).

Where to start????

I started a thread in cleaning, or two, gave up...then suddenly today I realised the past is gone and a whole bunch of sentimental stuff went in the bin. It's a start.

Paperwork sort tomorrow.

To tick off some of my list from my last post:

Bake cake with dd because I promised I would when kitchen was clean. No I still have not done that I did clean the kitchen though

Continue to sort clutter, shelves, desk. The shelves and desk are clean but I threw all the clutter into boxes and hid them in another room. I had people coming for afternoon tea and was taking too long to clean so this was the quickest way.

Vacuum lounge room. Yes

Christmas shopping and Christmas cards tomorrow. Yes

3 out of 4 bedrooms done. We've made decent progress on DD's but still more to do tomorrow.

Also for tomorrow:

• marzipan the Christmas cake
• write shopping list
• finish wrapping
• tip run
