Calling all fledglings, newbies and lurkers to the September FlyLady thread! Join us as we try to sometimes rather loosely follow FlyLady’s routines to steer us gradually towards clean and tidy homes and organised lives, with lots of nattering and support along the way.

The more the merrier, so please feel welcome to join. I’ll post daily links to try to keep us on track, and I’ll explain the system as we go if we have any newbies. If there’s anything you’re not sure about please ask. The website is here but be wary of signing up to the emails. There are lots.

Thanks to our lovely Sing for keeping us flapping through August, you did a grand job.

The naughty corner is fully stocked for anyone needing a little respite. I am already keeping it warm for everyone today and I’m not even sorry

Remember, you are never behind, just jump in where you are. Let’s do this Fledglings!

Fiddlesticks Hills - the last thing you need is an allergic reaction to a member of the nightshade family.

Cold snacky dinner is the way to go if you have the stuff.

halfhope · 02/09/2021 16:20

Cereal - Mother's Best Culinary Friend.

HillsBesideTheSea · 02/09/2021 16:37

Actually it is not as bad as having to resort to cereal. But it does require thought. Ds moved the microwave and that works so def cooker, but with a working microwave I can feed people without accidentally killing one of them with their allergies either (3 anaphylatics for different things in this house - ergo the food prep and batch cooking to help with the multiple different meals each tea)

I am also grateful that as I do a lot of long distance driving in all sorts of weather and road, i have a number of options that can be made with the addition of hot water. So we are actually reasonably well prepared. But i am running on about 4hrs sleep so everything is a mountain rather than a mole hill today.

yay for Y12 zoo!

You did promise us a pic of you in your dress...

I've had a nice time being unable to do housework as in someone else's (well-kept) house. Decluttered the dishwasher tablets to MiL (ours broke in 2019 and wasn't replaced).

It was decidedly cooler than had been promised so I ended up wearing two tshirts at once and my denim jacket as a cardigan. S2 was Actively Cold on Friday which we were all a bit astounded by until we remembered he'd had his second jab just before leaving the day before...

Managed a barbecue without actually getting rained on. Sat outside eating takeaway pizzas when strictly speaking it was raining (BiLiL is rather more cautious than we are Grin). H trimmed a bay and a laurel, boys removed a concrete lump.

My forlorn hope that the epic floods might have been last gasp has turned out to be unfounded (ffs it only finished a fortnight ago).

Haven't heard from the job since they said thanks for the application. Given that the interviews were supposed to be "the end of August" I have to assume I haven't got through. Bit miffed. Trying not to cling to the idea that they've all been off with the plague (because their jobs site hasn't updated my account to say I haven't got it) because that way madness lies.

H has a photo of his newly-discovered great-grandfather's war grave. Must check to see if it includes a legible birth date, then I can eliminate some of the possibles. (He joined up in about 1908 so won't have the WW1 recruiting papers, and was probably in India for the 1911 census.)

Have deleted some emails.

TaDa
made a fish pie (it was going to be slow-cooked hearts but I forgot to take them out of the freezer. Decided that as mash-hating piscosceptic S2 is out I would seize the opportunity)
errrrm... that's it

YupIHave · 02/09/2021 19:11

Just popping in. Have had quick skim through posts.

I hate washing my hair too. Clipping my nails, brushing my teeth. Having a shower. Self care. Ugh. I only wash my hair once a week and even less when on holiday. Eek

Ta-da
Didn't fall asleep at work (sleeping so badly at the moment)

To-do

Go for a walk.

YupIHave · 02/09/2021 19:13

Zoo, you look lovely in your dress. I love that colour. Your daughter looks beautiful.

SingToTheSky · 02/09/2021 20:15

po3.5
❗️Get Cagletini to sleep
❗️Stash bathroom trolley somewhere (not the bathroom, I’m hoping we no longer need it there)
❗️Dinner (late but oh well)

SingToTheSky · 02/09/2021 22:36

Took a while to get Cagletini to sleep, as she wasn’t tired and wanted to be a doctor. The triceratops needed injecments, obv. Managed to find space in the dryer cupboard for the trolley though, for now at least.

po3.6
❗️Room rescue (with Caglets)
❗️Pack bag for tutoring tomorrow
❗️Piano as I got interrupted earlier and I need my Clementi fix

ExtremelyDisorganised · 02/09/2021 22:47

Willow - we're going for white metro tiles with a mid-grey grout, like this photo.

Dancing - hope DF's operation has gone well, he's had a long wait IIRC.

Zoo - lovely photo, also great news about DD2 and school.

Nice that we have a few more thread babies on the way Smile.

I did a bit more kitchen sorting after work today, then cooked dinner, went to aqua fit, ate dinner and did another half hour or so of tidying. I have lost track of zones but the boudoir is top of the list for tomorrow (day off work) as it is a pit. Determined to do the handbag/car Friday task as well. Plus paperwork/phonecalls. Coffee will be needed.

Up- sorry for the crossed post up thread! Dont worry,i forgot to do much in there last week before school too.
I am drowning in uniform prep. Went searching for black p.e jogging bottoms aged 9-10.....none left.

Thanks everyone for you kind wishes. Ddad has come out of the operation ok at 4pm and was shocked they sent him home. But glad he is in a way. Its a routine hernia repair job, key hole surgery. My dad said his throat and right side of his head hurt. But otherwise fine. I have told superbro to set a alarm on his phone for when dad needs his painkilkers so he get them on time. I think dad is not allowed visitors for the next 7 days so i will be whatapp video calling him. I was so worried my brain blocked it all out.

Zoo- I am loving seeing all the wedding photographs. The picture of you and your daughter is lovely-I love the pink colour of your dress!

Welcome all the newbies and returners. So excited about all the thread babies.

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/09/2021 06:23

TheHoneyBadger · 03/09/2021 06:36

Hi just dropping in for a quick flop in the naughty corner. INSET day 1 yesterday after 4 hours sleep, day 2 today on under 4 hours sleep. I did manage a nap late afternoon yesterday before getting on with more work. Today I have a training webinar to attend after work so realistically it's going to be the weekend before any flying gets done.

Lovely pic zoo and lovely tiles and grouting choice ED

Yup I can relate to not falling asleep at work being a tada! No chance of that yesterday as building work is not finished so lots of concrete drilling and heavy machinery noise and training session speakers shouting into mic to be heard. With that and my first time back under strip lighting I had a banging headache. So did two of my colleagues and luckily one of them had brought ibuprofen which we all took during the break. I think the banging headache is what actually kept me awake though.

I'm using this meditation app daily for 2 weeks now and using sleep meditations at night but sleep not improving. The only thing I can think is I increased my antidepressant dose recently and maybe it's that? Sleep problems have been going on longer than that but definitely more extreme since. May try going back to old dose.

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/09/2021 07:54

TheHoneyBadger · 03/09/2021 08:20

Bless you Zoo - I'm at the point of trying to cling onto other causes rather than just think it's just age and nothing to be done (already on hrt patches).

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/09/2021 08:34

honey I'm desperately try claw some sleep back.summer 2019 in was averaging 3 hours a night, sometimes just an hour despite be super physically active etc.i can get to sleep in less than 2minutesit's STAYING asleep that's my trouble!I average 4-6 in broken chunks now (plus if get chance a 20 minute nap in the day just to help keep my eyes open )thru strict routines.i just want to feel awake and alert sometimes rather than trudging thru treacle day in day out with very little mental clarity!
