StillUpholding · 29/08/2021 15:23

Calling all fledglings, newbies and lurkers to the September FlyLady thread! Join us as we try to sometimes rather loosely follow FlyLady’s routines to steer us gradually towards clean and tidy homes and organised lives, with lots of nattering and support along the way.

The more the merrier, so please feel welcome to join. I’ll post daily links to try to keep us on track, and I’ll explain the system as we go if we have any newbies. If there’s anything you’re not sure about please ask. The website is here but be wary of signing up to the emails. There are lots.

Thanks to our lovely Sing for keeping us flapping through August, you did a grand job.

The naughty corner is fully stocked for anyone needing a little respite. I am already keeping it warm for everyone today and I’m not even sorry

Remember, you are never behind, just jump in where you are. Let’s do this Fledglings!

She clearly didn’t work if she thinks Monday is a good day for a whole house clean

TheHoneyBadger · 20/09/2021 07:53

Good luck to little man zoo today 💪🏼

HillsBesideTheSea · 20/09/2021 08:07

Yes Zoo I am feeling the tree digging today.

Feel like death. Everything hurt including my nose and ears.

Only 2 more weeks of work. No idea what next. but can't wait to escape this job/role/organisation... I have already mentally moved on. Hoping I can escape with no in work overtime, even if i might have to bring home stuff this week.

MrsTidyHouse · 20/09/2021 08:13

The tea and sandwich helped yesterday evening. LG has been invited out for the afternoon, which will enable me to tackle my ToDo list. Normally I leave at 2.30 for the school pick-up, and having a straight run at the afternoon without interruption is an unaccustomed luxury :-))

Tidy fridge, freezer, for morning's delivery.

Tame the laundry monster. At the very least into piles for tomorrow
Move tv out of my bedroom. Now replaced by my iPad.

SingToTheSky · 20/09/2021 08:14

Morning lovelies.

Hope today goes well zoo don’t blame you for being unable to sleep!

Argh MrsT that’s so frustrating about the online learning stuff. I have to admit while I see the benefits of it I also see enough disadvantages to prefer good old fashioned pen and paper for maths 😁

I am really not wanting to be awake. My injecment arm is surprisingly painful 😣 so on top of the general achiness I’ve had since last week (especially legs) I very much have that Monday morning feeling. Ugh.

Today I need to get my next correspondence tutoring task sheet done - really should’ve done that yesterday! But it won’t take long to refine one of the ideas I’ve had. Also taking DS to the next town over to meet his chemistry tutor.

SingToTheSky · 20/09/2021 08:21

po3.1
❗️Meds/paracetamol, breakfast and water
❗️Book dance for the week
❗️Curl up and watch an episode of something while I try to wake up

SingToTheSky · 20/09/2021 09:19

Caught up now.
@Castlelough welcome back! As hazel said please don’t worry about catching up, everyone is free to use the thread as and when and how they need! 💖
Hazel love the house pics!

Water drank, meds taken, I only ate DD1’s leftover breakfast as I’m not that hungry. Dance booked and comedy watched. Ugh, I feel Properly Shit tbh. Glad I got DS’ weekly plan done last night including finding some specific worksheets. He’s got some new research work to do as well this week, it’ll be interesting to see how he copes with that.

po3.2
❗️Print previous correspondence work off and make notes for feedback (wake DS when I go up to get printing)
❗️Quick Kallax tidy in living room before it gets worse
❗️Check charity shop games (one to use ASAP, the others are for when Cagletini’s a bit older)

TheHoneyBadger · 20/09/2021 09:28

Po3
Have a bath
Check weather and dress accordingly
Attempt to use an eyebrow stamp without looking like a clown

SingToTheSky · 20/09/2021 11:01

WTF is an eyebrow stamp?!

po3.3
❗️Make sure DS does more work before we go
❗️Make and send next English task
❗️Shower and get dressed

Redsquirrel5 · 20/09/2021 11:05

MrsTidy I forgotten how old your children are?

If it is Maths the text books don’t normally follow on anyway. You could chose a topic and work on that all week. Measurement is usually covered over a couple of weeks and introduces lots of practical work. Make sure they start at 0 not the end of a ruler or tape measure. Metric but aware that it used to be Imperial and what those are.
Liquid and weight are far more exciting when baking. Greater understanding too especially if this is a weaker subject.
Times tables are very important still forwards, mixed and division.
Hope that helps. I was Primary though but it doesn’t hurt to re visit as sometimes there are gaps or lack of understanding.

Willow so glad you are home. Pity I don’t live near you I would come and help you. Get them to step up as you will tire easily.

Hazel lovely photos.

Castlelough we fall off sometimes and just jump in again as there is a lot of chat to catch up on even if you miss a day or two!🤣

DS trial run fingers crossed. Zoo?

Redsquirrel5 · 20/09/2021 11:09

WIll come back iPad being weird. Have ABC text split in two either side and smaller keyboard and not typed the rest of that conversation. Weird or have I pressed something I shouldn’t. It just comes back each time as it was like it yesterday.

Mc3209 · 20/09/2021 11:12

Sing apparently it's a thing. Saves you drawing them on yourself free hand. Never used one but I am aware of their existence.

I recently found out that such a thing as vajacial exists... Like, why? Why would anyone need that (for £50).

Mc3209 · 20/09/2021 11:14

Castlelough I am in permanent "fallen off the thread" state right now.

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 20/09/2021 11:38

Oof. Am in a small heap.

Am meant to be keeping moving but also recovering physically and I'm not sure I've got the balance right. Very irritated to find my brain is as slow as the rest of me and words keep coming out in the wrong order.

Ta da:
❤️ Took 7.30 meds
🧡 Took 8am meds, got up, had breakfast
💛 Put dark wash on. Forgot powder measurement.
💚 Reloaded DW after DS3 emptied it. Wiped kitchen.
💙 Had a wash, got dressed as man was coming to replace blown units in upstairs windows
💜 Swapped washing over. Got powder right this time.
🤎 Ward rang about discharge letter
🖤 Wrote anniversary cards for this week
❤️ Anti-coagulation team rang about meds
🧡 Tried to plan diary / work. Brain won't go
💛 Asked DH to hang out washing as I can't get down the steps with a basket and raising my arms above my head pushes up my heart rate.

DD has unfortunately bounced out of school because she forgot to take her Lisdex (ADHD med) this morning and has got her eating wrong. Really hoping application of tablet and some noodles will get her back in 😬.

I think I need a nap.

SingToTheSky · 20/09/2021 12:08

Well you learn something new every day!

A nap sounds like a good plan willow :) for future meds mishaps could DD keep one capsule in her school bag? Pre covid (when I actually had to leave the house early on some days 🤣) I had a spare child-proof pill bottle with a couple of spares, just in case I left the house and suddenly thought “oh SHIIIIT” 🤣

Feeling sick today so currently nibbling pretzel sticks. DS is watching Disney theories on YouTube 🤔 having done more work while I was upstairs.

po3.4
❗️Finish getting ready to go (bag etc)
❗️Go through chemistry quiz with DS
❗️Leave at 11.30ish

Dancingtomusic · 20/09/2021 13:44

Sing - hope pretzel sticks helps you.
Willow- glad you are home 🏠
Zoo- hope you ds has a lovely day.
Hazel- love all the photos!
Red- hello lovely
Hills- ouch!

Been for a emergency food shop.
Spent another morning looking for trousers for dd that she can bend her legs and sit on the floor in class- to anyone that designs trousers for primary aged girls- yes skinny fit legs look lovely- but the material needs to be stretch so they can move!
Arghhhh! Have ordered sizes 6yrs, 7, 8 and 9 in plus fit (my dd is aged 5) and hoping for the love of god something fits!
What is worse is 2 years ago my dad bought navy blue girls trousers in the sale - the label says 6 years old. The in the store- current 6 years old navy trousers do not fit- i couldnt even get the zip to do up. 🤷‍♀️

Sorry, absolutely minimal flying here.
If anyone came to visit. They would start crying.

Big hello and cups of tea ☕☕☕from me to everyone i have missed.

SingToTheSky · 20/09/2021 16:30

Am home. Shattered. Headachey. But the tutor meeting went really well, DS is looking forward to starting his lessons next week!

po3.5
❗️Ring doctors to ask about flu jabs and blood tests and smear test
❗️Eat something
❗️Relax

TheHoneyBadger · 20/09/2021 18:13

Also home and shattered. Trying to build up steam to put a lol on and get a sausage casserole started.

Want to know how Zoo’s ds got on?!

Willow don’t overdo it ☝️

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 20/09/2021 19:32

Trying not to overdo it, but DH is reaching tipping point. He forgot to pick up DD's meds from Boots until 10 mins after they closed, so it will have to be done at 8.30am tomorrow and she can be late for school. We proved today that school is impossible without them (sensory overload. She left the classroom rather than hear someone typing).

So, I am doing stuff but with help:
💖 Lunch. Don't have my appetite back yet and chicken salad was less than special
🧡 Coffee. Makes me feel sick 😢
💛 Spoke to DM - not going to be able to visit the churchyard tomorrow for DDad's birthday - too far and too complicated on crutches
💚 1 hr rest on sofa
💙 Receive Tesco order with DS3 and get him to help me put it away
💜 Email clients to tell them I'm closed for two weeks
🤎 Help DS3 with maths hwk for an hour
🖤 Serve dinner that DH put in oven - mine was lovely (GF vegetable lasagne) but turns out to be shipped from the US, which I cannot possibly justify 🤬
💖 Empty DW while DH walks dog and DS3 brings in washing, as DD has gone to bed to feel ill
🧡 Clean kitchen surfaces, put food away, reload DW, put milk bottles and cool bag out, rinse recycling
💛 Prep breakfasts for next 3 days for me
💚 Refill coffee pot with water for DH and tea tin with teabags for me

I have actually reached my limit now. That's it for tonight. Nothing else. I may need a carry upstairs.

halfhope · 20/09/2021 23:26

I have so fallen off the thread I'm in a little dinghy bobbing behind the rest of you. I have sorted out old clothes that are threadbare and the wrong colour so they are going to the charity shop.with Ds's old jumpers that no longer got him. I cleaned the oven and am about to use wire wool on the shelves. ( Wish me luck). I have not done the home blessing so I'm flouncing off to the naughty corner 😁

HillsBesideTheSea · 20/09/2021 23:46

Hope you have done far more then me! Stop putting yourself down!

My ta da
work
nap
feed the people
take a walk

People gonna have to stop being so hard on themselves else i might be force to find a rant... And I am in a very ranty mood atm cos i still need a break away! So please don't give me an excuse. I have too many opinions to be expresssing them!

halfhope · 20/09/2021 23:57

everybody fed, nobody dead - the Mumsnet Gold Standard Hills 🌟🏆

Redsquirrel5 · 21/09/2021 00:25

MyTaDaList isn’t great or long. Willow that sounds way too much when you have just come out of hospital.

Ta da
Stripped bed
Sheets in wash.
S&S in bathroom.
Vacuum sitting room.
Dust sitting room. Window sill, table, ornaments, dolls house, clock. Desk.
Hang washing out

Kitchen
Wipe worktops.
Wipe Everhot
Wash few things
Later ...fill DW
Make plum chutney
Went to hang more washing out.
Tea was left over roast dinner
Made bed, got in!

HazelNuttyElf · 21/09/2021 04:44

Sing I'm glad to hear the tutor session went well. Relaxing is always a good to do to have on your list.
mc I don't even want to know what is involved in a vajacial! Good to see you on the thread
dancing I'm noticing a lot of changes in sizes lately compared to some of my older clothes. No wonder the US is the fastest country, when a size 12 is what used to be a size 16 🤦‍♀️ weird that is the other way round for your DD though
honey sausage casserole sounds good, what do you put in yours?

willow I think you deserve ALL the yummy lasagne you can eat! I'm very sad for you that coffee makes you sick 😭 that is a very sad thing indeed. DH really does need to do a lot more, I'm sure he has a phone with a calendar, he needs to set reminders or make lists, whatever works for him, but he really does need to let you rest and heal. If he doesn't, I think you should go to a hotel with room service! That might be a little extreme and costly, but you know what I mean. Although, if you're anything like me, you're probably being stubborn and trying to do it all yourself anyway.

So other than cooking dinner (broccoli cheddar soup) and cleaning up the kitchen I haven't done any flying. I did work all day though (10 hrs). DS did 1 LOL and rotated the DW, I filled it back up after making dinner and it's half way through right now.
I guess I did make a few phone calls today, paid the dentist, asked about rotating and balancing the wheels on my jeep, will take it tomorrow. Had called to tell the property management company that I'll be taking an extra dog one night earlier than expected to the house we're renting for the weekend, and discovered I wasn't billed for any of the dogs, $230 later, everyone's paid for 😭
So I did anti-procrastination a couple of days early, but tomorrow (Tuesday) I'll do the weekly bleugh. I had DH check and air up the tyres on the jeep, one was low, he didn't believe me. It was only 14psi, the others were at 30psi! He put them all up to 38psi so we should be good for our long travels on Thursday.
I'm starting to stress a bit, there's a lot to do still to be ready to go on Thursday, not sure I'll be on here much tomorrow as I need to get ahead.

🍒👋 to everyone

HazelNuttyElf · 21/09/2021 04:55

Lots of cross posts - sorry!

hope no one gets left behind remember, sounds like you've been busy anyway
Red good ta da list there
hills sounds like you need a hotel room with room service as well!
