Calling all fledglings, newbies and lurkers to the September FlyLady thread! Join us as we try to sometimes rather loosely follow FlyLady’s routines to steer us gradually towards clean and tidy homes and organised lives, with lots of nattering and support along the way.

The more the merrier, so please feel welcome to join. I’ll post daily links to try to keep us on track, and I’ll explain the system as we go if we have any newbies. If there’s anything you’re not sure about please ask. The website is here but be wary of signing up to the emails. There are lots.

Thanks to our lovely Sing for keeping us flapping through August, you did a grand job.

The naughty corner is fully stocked for anyone needing a little respite. I am already keeping it warm for everyone today and I’m not even sorry

Remember, you are never behind, just jump in where you are. Let’s do this Fledglings!

Elf I did not resist takeaway - we had chinese on Friday night. Your wardrobe looks very organised - I seem to have doordrobes. May try to tackle those later.

Managed some laundry yesterday, just need to do whites and lights today and get the reaccumulated piles of clean clothes in kitchen actually put away and work out what I have to wear this week.

I went for a walk and a drink with a friend then came home and slept all evening then woke up and took the dog out and went to sleep again till this morning.

Po3
-lol on and fold clothes on drier and add to piles
-start putting piles away
-hang out whites so I know ds has shirts and pe tops ready.

Will endeavour to tidy kitchen too as I do those things. Minimal flying here since going back to work and there is no progress with the corner of the living room (desk and side table) that never did get decluttered when I did the rest of downstairs. More of a volcano than just a 'hot spot'.

No idea where we are in zones at the minute?

Impressed by your dd's lack of procrastination on her physics Sing

TheHoneyBadger · 19/09/2021 11:34

Missed that there was another page - so glad you're home Willow - will they keep an eye on you to make sure the clots aren't doing anything sinister?

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 19/09/2021 14:09

Hi Honey, I am on heavy duty blood thinners to help the clots break up until 23rd; then 3 months of less heavy duty thinners to ensure it doesn't happen again. Possibly thinners for life, depending on how things look after that. And a review by cardiology-in-the-community too. I am being well looked after.

StillUpholding · 19/09/2021 14:11

We are in the last day of zone 3 today Honey, heading into zone 4 (bedroom) tomorrow.

Super organised wardrobe Hazel. I aspire to something similar when we sort a new one in the upcoming Great Upstair Reshuffle

So glad you’re home and on the mend Willow. It’s hard to strike a happy medium between resting and moving. Let’s hope DH and the DC manage to keep some of the routine going.

DH and I had a lovely night yesterday. Plus I woke up to a nice tidy house after yesterday’s efforts for the MIL. All washing is done so just uniform ironing and food planning/prep to sort later. Spirit is feeling renewed after a relaxing morning. Currently sat covered in pink glitter ‘make up’ courtesy of DD. I might not look good but I did enjoy lying with my eyes closed while she applied it Grin

Have been trying to catch up with posts but still have about 13 pages to get through! Sorry to hear so many people are unwell.
Trying to get myself ready to fly again tomorrow....

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/09/2021 15:01

Glad you are home willow

I had a choice between inside stuff and outside stuff. So i chose to dig up a tree.
About to get changed and pop into work for half hour.

feeling rough after a long week and a very very long day road trip yesterday. So the plan is to try to relax later. We shall see.

MrsTidyHouse · 19/09/2021 16:16

I haven't read posts for a few days now. I'm sitting here in tears because H has caused one fuck-up after another, and either can't or won't understand how damaging this is for my physical and mental health. My eating disorder is running riot, and I'm putting out fires everywhere.

LOs are fine. They are mostly out with friends and/or extended family. LG took some of her favourite stuff up to her bedroom yesterday. This is a biiig step forward for her, carving out her own space and giving it her own personality. She also is starting to manage her own time and realise that if she sorts herself out then I don't need to nag. Which is nice for all of us :-))

I'm going to make a huge pot of tea and a sandwich. Then have a quiet think.

StillUpholding · 19/09/2021 16:21

FlowersBrewCake Mrs Tidy. Hope you feel better after some quiet time. Like you said, LOs are fine, it’s ok to slow down and look after yourself.

💐 tidy
willow yay to being home 🎉 although DH really does need to step up a lot more so you're not back in the hospital
hills you made digging up a tree sound easy! I hope you're able to get some rest in.
castle we won't be offended if you're unable to catch up with the thread. Sometimes you just have to jump back in
Up it's so nice to start out with a clean & tidy house. I love it when my house is like that, but it never lasts because I live with other people 🤣
Sing I hope you feel better soon

Ha! My wardrobe was a mess before, we'll see how long it stays like that.
I did realise I hadn't attached the pic as I planned, so here it is, along with some of my autumn decorations.

I have no ta das for today yet, other than 2 cups of coffee. I do need to go grocery shopping (have to make a list first) and cook DH his eggs for the week.
I want to get a list started for later in the week, when we're going away for a few days. Maybe a couple of lists; one for things to pack, another for things I want/ need to get done before leaving.
I know I have wrapping to do and baking to do as well.
I'm still currently sitting on the couch in my Pajamas, it's almost 11:30am!
I guess I should start being productive 🤔

SingToTheSky · 19/09/2021 19:54

Ah tidy I’m sorry things have been rough :( it’s horrible when one thing sets off another and everything feels like it’s going wrong at once!

I’m so sorry I realised I totally forgot to give you some links - back shortly!

SingToTheSky · 19/09/2021 20:00

www.math-aids.com/ was a favourite of mine for a long time. It’s US based so the wording can sometimes be a bit different but it’s really useful as all the sheets are randomly generated. Many are customisable eg for fractions you can select only the easier denominators etc.

SingToTheSky · 19/09/2021 20:05

www.twinkl.co.uk/resources/keystage3-ks3

I’m not sure how much is available without a subscription but the Beyond stuff here is great. They have sheets just for practice but also topic walkthroughs so if there’s something LG is unsure of it would be useful! (I think there is also the option to subscribe just to this section as well, if that helps).

SingToTheSky · 19/09/2021 20:13

mathsmadeeasy.co.uk/ks3-revision/

I’ve only used bits from GCSE/A level from this site but that was decent and they seem to have a decent range for ks3 as well.

SingToTheSky · 19/09/2021 20:18

corbettmathsprimary.com/5-a-day/

There is also Corbett Maths which I only discovered thanks to DD1’s school! But I quite like it. I’m not sure how good it is for LG’s age but there are the 5-a-day primary which might be good for revising stuff? (Sorry I’m not sure how it aligns to Scottish curriculum!)

Anyway hope these help a bit if you want to set them a bit of work to get on with - happy to suggest other things or can send you topic homework sheets I’ve made for my pupils too if they’d help (obviously that requires email though so totally understand if you’d rather not) :)

TheHoneyBadger · 19/09/2021 20:54

Hmm I'm at that awkward stage where it's too soon to put the heating on but washing isn't drying properly on the stand. Have been having to gradually fold, hang out more, etc all day as yesterdays wash still wasn't fully dry and today's wash needed drying. I don't have hanging space outside. May have to go over to doing very small loads once a day

TheHoneyBadger · 19/09/2021 21:35

Forgot to say glad they're taking care of you Willow and that you'll have follow up in community. Scary stuff!

SingToTheSky · 19/09/2021 23:37

It has been a long day. I have done some stuff I needed to.

I have not done all the stuff I needed to.

HazelNuttyElf · 20/09/2021 00:42

Well I did a whole lot of nothing today. After lunch I didn't feel good. I slept on the couch on and off for about 3-4 hrs. I'm awake now, just after 5:30pm. I still have grocery shopping to do, dishes to wash and rotate, eggs to cook and I don't want to do any of it 🤦‍♀️
We lost power in the house earlier today, a big storm came in. It was off for about 25 minutes. While it was off I got dressed and got ready for the day with makeup and hair done. But nothing else was accomplished.
I think I might actually see if DH or DD will go shopping for me and I'll just make the eggs as they don't take long 🤔

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/09/2021 03:59

hazelhope you feel better.nice decorations💖
Hills will you feel the tree digging up today?
Tidythings can grind us down lovely.im sorry it's been crappy.hope sandwich and tea helpedFlowers
Willowpace yourself and do not forget to delegate!glad you are home
Honeyhave you space for another airer/radiator airers?
Sing we love pink panther too

Insomnia strikes plus mind whirring for D's school visit today

HazelNuttyElf · 20/09/2021 04:47

Thank you zoo I'm feeling a lot better now, I don't think I've had enough water this weekend and way too many margaritas last night.
I was able to make DH his eggs, rotate the DW and handwash dishes. I wiped out the microwave and wiped all the countertops down. Only took me about an hour to do all of that, I'll only have a few minutes of sitting before I go take a shower and get ready for bed. I'll get my clothes out for the morning as well.
I did manage to get DH and DD to go grocery shopping for me so snuck in a sneaky episode of dead files while they were gone 🤫

zoo I hope you were able to get more sleep, although I know how you and sleep get along. Good luck to DS today, I'm sure he'll be fine

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/09/2021 05:32

Nope,no more sleep for me.foing to get up now
Night hazel

StillUpholding · 20/09/2021 05:56

Time for me to get up too. Urgh.

Good luck to Boy Zoo today. Hope it goes well. Try and enjoy your alone time Zoo.

Well done on doing some of your list (and delegating!) when you didn’t feel like it Hazel.

Also struggled to get my washing dried yesterday Honey, despite the dehumidifier. Heating seems to have kicked in this morning, and it’s very dark.

Into zone 4 today. Mission is to bin anything than needs binning from the boudoir, and of course the home bleurgh seems to have come round again.

launchpad is here

Have a great day everyone. I got everything organised clothes and food wise last night but left the kitchen half sorted so better go and do that.

Sing many thanks for the maths links. The Corbett resource looks particularly relevant atm. We've being using Hit the Button at home this year, and I was wanting something that gave me an idea of how to progress. It's tricky to know how to support learning when there are no textbooks or jotters, and last year's online learning has been blocked by the school disabling all the passcodes.
