Calling all fledglings, newbies and lurkers to the September FlyLady thread! Join us as we try to sometimes rather loosely follow FlyLady’s routines to steer us gradually towards clean and tidy homes and organised lives, with lots of nattering and support along the way.

The more the merrier, so please feel welcome to join. I’ll post daily links to try to keep us on track, and I’ll explain the system as we go if we have any newbies. If there’s anything you’re not sure about please ask. The website is here but be wary of signing up to the emails. There are lots.

Thanks to our lovely Sing for keeping us flapping through August, you did a grand job.

The naughty corner is fully stocked for anyone needing a little respite. I am already keeping it warm for everyone today and I’m not even sorry

Remember, you are never behind, just jump in where you are. Let’s do this Fledglings!

Morning again, so much going on for you all. I'm better again today, sitting in a chair and wearing my own pants so things are definitely improving 🤣. Doctors have suggested the next thing is a plan from haematology for anti coagulants and once that's stable I can go home!!

Fiddle sorry you reached the end of your tether with your Dad (my FIL is similarly tedious) and you got such an early start! Hope you got more sleep.

Ed I just love your new floor. Whole kitchen looks ace.

Zoo what a morning! Perhaps invest in an inflatable mallet for bopping people without harm?

Everything else has fallen out of my head again. 🍒👋 to everyone 😘

Red thank you for lovely flowers.
Yup hope DP and you are managing ok around his Mum's illness.

SingToTheSky · 16/09/2021 12:01

SingToTheSky · 16/09/2021 14:09

Cagletini seemed to enjoy nursery. Did some drawing apparently (I’d already guessed this from the amount of pen on her 🤣) and she did keep her pyjama trousers on all morning 🙄

About to crack on with my online course for a bit, but wanted to share a snippet of DS’ scout badge work. He has to write a little about various health related things. My favourite bit is this, about alcohol: “it also decreases your reaction time meaning you could bump into a tree making you fall down a cliff into a cactus truck going to Mexico”

🤷‍♀️

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/09/2021 14:22

singGrin
Yup good list.yay for working radiators BEFORE it's cold!

SingToTheSky · 16/09/2021 15:17

Right, really should get some other stuff done before I shut down for the day. I’m feeling a bit thrown - got an email inviting me to an interview. I assumed I’d not got one, so obviously I’m pleased, but I’m feeling all wibbly! I have a week to prepare. Also want to make more of an effort on the zoom background rather than shoving everything onto the bed like I do for tutoring 🤣 the desk is at the end of and perpendicular to the bed, with the Kallax full of games behind it. But other random crap tends to gather including some major BRCs.

po3.3
❗️Move a few selling things into the cupboard and add the details to the notebook I’ve listed info in
❗️Tidy board game shelves a bit including the ones that were played the other day
❗️Sort a paperwork bag into actual paperwork that needs sorting, and informal stuff

SingToTheSky · 16/09/2021 16:18

Ugh. I have managed a small amount of paperwork sorting but felt overwhelmed and my head hurts so I’m stopping. DS has finished his work for the day and the shelves look a bit tidier so that’s something.

po3.4
❗️Put the categories of stuff I’ve sorted into folders or envelopes, so they don’t get mixed up again (and I’ll put the small amount of recycling out)
❗️Painkillers and something to eat. I may even have a second brew!
❗️Do today’s symptom survey from the GP - feel a bit guilty as I forgot yesterday’s

Mc3209 · 16/09/2021 16:36

Sing well done on the interview! I haven't been on Zoom for a while, but on Teams you can just blur the background, perhaps this will take a bit of stress out for you?

Ta das:
🌟Hoovered
🌟Rubbish out
🌟Mirrors cleaned
🌟Dusted
🌟Antibac to surfaces
🌟Blitzed bathroom
🌟LOL
🌟Several rotations of DW
🌟Iced a birthday cake
🌟Decorated with balloons etc.

Now I am ready to collapse. But I have a meeting coming up.

HillsBesideTheSea · 16/09/2021 19:07

Yay for own pants and a plan of escape Willow

Bat shit crazy day. tea thrown into over for the people, I am about to jump in bath, grab a clean respectable set of clothes, find a map and head out to do things that dont involve eating tea Hmm

is it bedtime yet?

Dancingtomusic · 17/09/2021 03:27

Hills- did you go out into the hills with your map? Hope you got some sleep.

Wellies - hurrah to 'own pant wearing!!' Hospital paper pants are not something to be desired.

Sing- weldone on getting an interview! Will you be cracking out the interview clothes?

Mc- did you say birthday balloons?

HazelNuttyElf · 17/09/2021 05:12

hope I love your entryway table 😍
ED your kitchen is gorgeous and will look amazing when you are finished with it
wellies sorry to hear you are in the hospital, hopefully you'll be home soon, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's nice and clean for you with strict orders for your family to not let you do so much
mc whose birthday is it?
Sing I hope you're feeling better

Is been a few days since I've been able to post on here.
Just a few ta das, not as much as I'd hoped for;

🌻 Bulk shopping done
🌻 Bedding washed
🌻 Bathrooms bleached
🌻 DW rotated nightly
🌻 Clothes out for next day, done nightly
🌻 Washed Jeep
🌻 More planning/ calming down family after meltdown by ILs (and probably arguing) trying not to let MIL be stressed out while we plan a nice weekend getaway
🌻 General tidy outside

I don't remember what I posted last. I worked on Saturday at my 2nd job, helped DH clean gutters.
We got the pool down Sunday. I worked my main job Monday (10hrs), then went to my 2nd job for almost 4 more hours. Tuesday I was off, but MIL needed to go bulk shopping, i spent the day with her.
The rest of the week I have been working every day. I have been able to get some things done throughout the house, but not as much as I was hoping. I'm ready for the weekend 😩

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/09/2021 06:46

Unfortunately not. I was in a town 4 motorways away, but did manage to rehome a box of grown out of training kit and see an old friend.

Less than 6hrs sleep though so going to feel it. Need to make sure people are up and have not overslept...

StillUpholding · 17/09/2021 06:53

Morning everyone. Just popped on to post links before I head to work, and realised I did not appear at all yesterday. I’m sorry, I’m a terrible thread leader Blush.

Minimal ta Das to report here, just about stayed on top of the laundry and dishes (my new DW is amazing and I’ve realised the last one must have been dodgy for a while). I managed all my to do list on Wednesday too.

Hope you’re all looking forward to the weekend. It’s back to date night again. I’m not being abandoned this week, but we actually have a meal booked for tomorrow just the two of us in a fancy restaurant that has been rearranged since Christmas! It’s also the day to sort your car and purse. Last day in zone 3 and the mission is to mop the floor, plus more decluttering in the stash and dash spot. Here’s the launchpad

I’ll be back tonight fledglings 👋

Mc3209 · 17/09/2021 08:20

Morning all! It was DH's birthday yesterday. I think he enjoyed it 😊
I'm still in bed, but probably should get up.

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/09/2021 08:45

How the hell is it quarter to 9 already?!?!

I need to find work clothes and leave. Can we chalk today up as done and not have a do over already? is it the weekend yet?

SingToTheSky · 17/09/2021 08:46

Morning all!
Up you’re doing a grand job of thread leading don’t worry!
Hazel sorry about the tense time with ILs

Busy day ahead. Got jobcentre at 1.30 and I had an email from the mental health liaison person about DS, they’re phoning in the next half hour to get the last information for his proper CAMHS referral (I mean they’ve had all this info before… but what do I know 🙄). DS doesn’t have a huge amount of work to get through but is back to parkour and scouts this afternoon. I also need to sew his scout badges - so much for getting them done early! At least I bought the new shirt ages ago and located all the badges. I actually dreamed last night that I found more, and I was relieved but also gutted as it meant more sewing 🤣😳

po3.1
❗️Try and vaguely wake up with some maths/telly while waiting for the phone call. Drink some water to hopefully shift headache.
❗️Message DH with top up shopping list and check if we need more cash for tomorrow’s dance fees.
❗️Put laundry away

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/09/2021 08:46

Happy birthday for yesterday mrmc

Today is the great demould and declutter understairs....

TheHoneyBadger · 17/09/2021 08:53

Still in bed here too. Worn out reading about Elf's week.

Bit hungover and bleurgh. Not working till 11.30 thankfully and then it's the weekend. I need to stop drinking. Definitely gotten in the habit of drinking too much over lockdowns etc and haven't stopped. Must.Do.Better.

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/09/2021 09:36

honey don't be too hard on yourself
Lots have developed coping strategies and most are not the healthiest.a pandemic is a thankfully rare event that pushes us to the limit of what we know and so long as we acknowledge it was a tough time,we did X,y,z TO SURVIVE and then try and pick back up threads of before I see no harm doneFlowers

Redsquirrel5 · 17/09/2021 09:48

Morning everyone,

Willow great to hear from you and that you have better internet connection now. It will stop you getting bored.

🤣Sing 🤣 that is hilarious.

Hazel Monday was a long day for you try an snatch an hour for yourself today.i

MC is it DH’s birthday?

Hills 🍩☕️🥐🌲🏕🌲time out.

Well yesterday was an ok day.

Bathroom - I dusted the shelves. They weren’t too bad.
Cleaned kitchen worktop.
Swept floor.
Put out recycling.
Put away a couple of items.
Cleared hot spot on table.
Made bed
DidLOL x2

Took Ddog for a 3 mile walk. He got excited when he saw me. He was very well behaved and sat when I told him and learnt to stay the length of the lead. Walked to heel most of the time and only pulled a little bit.

Had one wrap for lunch.
Made Moussaka for DH for him to pop in oven and 🥬 cabbage for him to do.

Weather beautiful, sunny day.

Went over to friend’s house she had forgotten and fallen asleep so went to pub for tea. Then went to Garden Club. Lots of details about what they were trying to book. Detail about a lady who fell and is in hospital so flowers are being sent from us all.

Question and answer time. I got my question answered.
Tea and two kinds of cake.
Arrived home at 10:20pm
Back to find DH cooking his tea! He had been to pub and saw friend of ours who now lives in Canada. She used to be BF next door neighbour and they have always stayed in touch so I get updates and sometimes see her when she is back. Not sure if I will see her today. I have appointment the afternoon.
DH ate his tea and declared it delicious. I was a bit cross as I had spent a while in the afternoon making it so he could just pop it in about 6:30pm. Men!

YupIHave · 17/09/2021 10:37

I'm having a relatively lazy day today as I just can't be arsed. House is

Ta-da
Installed new antivirus software on PC
School run

To-do
Pick up package
Order stuff for DS he needs for his photography
Spend the rest of the time reading a book, drinking coffee and chilling on the sofa with a hot water bottle

YupIHave · 17/09/2021 10:38

House is tidy enough for today.

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 17/09/2021 17:18

Bloody gaslighty doctor types.

Goal posts moved repeatedly this morning.
⚽ Cannula removed at 4pm yesterday... and reinstated at 5.30am this morning. 🤷
⚽ Different doctor says must see physio. Nurse then cancels as "inappropriate"
⚽ Doctor asks for evidence of mobility; I point out I can't use crutches with bloody cannula and attached to machine that goes bing! Everyone shuffles feet in an embarrassed fashion.
⚽ Cannula removed again and allowed to trot round ward on 4 legs, so to speak, and GO TO THE LOO ON MY OWN! 🥳
⚽ DH turned up with Emergency GF biscuits (hosp can't do GF food at all. My breakfast options have been ordinary toast, cereal or a banana, to which I am allergic 🤦) and asked Pointed Questions.
⚽ Have moved from high dependency Cardiac Care to General Female Medical ward. GFM don't seem to know why I'm here, and I am in the extra bit of ward created from the old waiting room. The loo is a portakabin.

Next moves unclear, but I am holding onto the achievement of Own Pants and trotting round the bed on my crutches at every available opportunity!

SingToTheSky · 17/09/2021 17:25

Sorry things are so frustrating willow 💐

Had a busy day so far, finally made my mind up about going to a home ed meet up in the big park, and got the taxi there instead of to my job centre appt. We had a little time there before I had to walk round. Had my appt (while DS stayed at the park with friends and their parents), then walked back. Other friend took DS to parkour with them from there instead so we didn’t have to rush home 💖 and I then went back to first friend’s for a bit. Got to hold five mice and two geckos 😁🥰. Just got back and have had my second shower of the day and changed into jammies (there was a mouse pee incident 🤣)

po3.2 (I think?)
❗️Chill with something to eat and drink for a while. Felt horribly dizzy earlier and headache keeps reappearing.
❗️LOL
❗️Start sewing the damn scout badges!

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 17/09/2021 17:34

Sing it's a bit late but have you thought of WonderWeb for scout badges? It's an iron on hemming material that heat-bonds both sides.

Sorry, brain has finally kicked in.
