Calling all fledglings, newbies and lurkers to the September FlyLady thread! Join us as we try to sometimes rather loosely follow FlyLady’s routines to steer us gradually towards clean and tidy homes and organised lives, with lots of nattering and support along the way.

The more the merrier, so please feel welcome to join. I’ll post daily links to try to keep us on track, and I’ll explain the system as we go if we have any newbies. If there’s anything you’re not sure about please ask. The website is here but be wary of signing up to the emails. There are lots.

Thanks to our lovely Sing for keeping us flapping through August, you did a grand job.

The naughty corner is fully stocked for anyone needing a little respite. I am already keeping it warm for everyone today and I’m not even sorry

Remember, you are never behind, just jump in where you are. Let’s do this Fledglings!

Thank you Up for my Exemption From Flying pass. I am now in a bit of the hospital where the signal is better,.but my typing jas.not improved!

Very pleased to report fragmin seems to be doing its thing and I'm getting better. There are strong suggestions I might even be allowed home on Friday.

Very tired and brain feels stiff,.so can't do other personals. 🍒👋 to everyone,.hope.you are all doing well.

HillsBesideTheSea · 15/09/2021 19:13

Glad you are getting sorted willow

Finished work 2 and half hours late today, and worked through lunch. Some days are just like that!

People are cooking for themselves and i just need to figure out what I want - i am thinking i might make a doughnut run...

So tired, and have had a thumping stress migraine most of this week already. Not a happy bunny.

Sing glad you are ok. Relief for you that no one seriously ill. Take it easy though.
Hope That fits in very neatly.

Ed what did you put behind your hottie? We have tiles but there have been some fantastic ones shown recently. I check in every few days I love looking at peoples ideas and some kitchens worthy of glossy kitchen mags. People also seem to fit into two camps very minimalist and like it has just arrived and messy serious cooks who don’t give a hoot and treat it like a workhorse. Oh and the dogs ( and cats) lolling in front of them. There will be lots of turkey talk soon.

So I got stuck in and cleaned the basin, toilet and back of it ( she is right it does get mucky and dusty) then did the shower doors and the tray also the drain🤮actually it wasn’t too bad as I did it on Saturday.

Then removed stuff near sink and drying thingy and washed, dried and polished worktop.

Walked dog4 1/2 miles he was very good and learning to leave the horse, dog and sheep poo alone. Meet a horse who leant over the wall and made him very excited.😆

Redsquirrel5 · 15/09/2021 20:10

Oh that didn’t work it was a bouquet before I should have previewed.

SingToTheSky · 15/09/2021 20:43

Going to try ringing dad again, they were probably out for the day. And:

po3.5
❗️Type out timetable for DD1 to keep in her bag (they gave it in an app this year… not a printable or copyable format)
❗️Go through various printouts and recycle stuff
❗️Finish the chapter I’m reading (and possibly the book as there’s only one chapter after)

DoesHePlayTheFiddle · 15/09/2021 21:42

Not the day I'd expected!
Began well - rubbish out, sacks numbered for collection.
Washed, dressed, at dad's by 8 with stuff for overnight already in the car.
Did some bedmaking, putting washing on for dad.
Went to the supermarket for dad.
When i got back he gave me £20 'for petrol' and told me he'd me by made a deal with his neighbour. Too much backstory to explain but that was the last straw. Exit Fiddle, perhaps for now, perhaps for good.
Two and a half hours' drive to dd's house, couple of hours babysitting, drove back. My choice not to stay, I can have an early start at home tomorrow, this way.

TheHoneyBadger · 15/09/2021 21:52

Willow Hope you're ok! Keep updating.

I'm sorry I haven't caught up with the thread - spent a lot of time with ds, got some jobs done and took the dog for a decent walk last night in the end. Today has been work and exercise and nothing else really.

Meeting nephew for lunch tomorrow as he's been left alone with the rest of the household at uni or overseas and it's my job to make sure he doesn't spend the whole month in his pyjamas. Will mean a long walk there and back so that's exercise taken care of. Will look and see flight plan etc in the morning and try to get some fluttering if not flying done.

Don't understand what happened with Dad Fiddle but hope you're ok.

Mc3209 · 15/09/2021 21:54

Willow how did I miss that you are actually admitted to hospital! I thought it was just a check up you had today. Get well soon!
Hope I like that wee table! Very handy.
Fiddle how frustrating. Put your feet up and try to have a calm relaxing evening.

Well, our cleaner is off sick, so I will need to buckle up for the next week or two.
Made a cake for DH's birthday tomorrow, a carrot cake. It nearly turned into a disaster, but I salvaged it. Will ice it and make it pretty tomorrow. Also will need to whizz around the house to get it into some sort of order.

EssentiallyDisorganised · 15/09/2021 22:43

Red - we haven't done the wall behind yet, waiting for the tiler to give us a date. We have gone for an eyecatching floor so we are having white metro tiles with mid-grey grout which matches the speckles in the worktop. When the whole thing is done I will put some photos on the group but in the meantime

I am absolutely loving cooking with if, although we have had the hotplate off most of the time as it makes the kitchen too hot. We also indulged in a boiling water tap which was top of DH's wishlist and I love that too. Keeping the toaster though, it's an old fashioned Dualit one and it is easier and makes crisper toast.

Redsquirrel5 · 16/09/2021 00:41

ED That is looking great. Love your worktop. I have. Kept my toaster but the kettle was done anyway so I bought a Le Crueset one.

Dancing the box meal was Chermoula Spiced Salmon & Tabbouleh salad.

Ingredients 10g Chermoula Spice 1 dessertspoon Olive Oil, salt, mix and put on to salmon...it was a bit hot and lost the salmon flavour I would put less on next time.

1 veggiestock cube

1 garlic Clove
1 Tomato
1 lemon
20g Parsley
20g Mint
2 Spring Onions
140g Bulgur Wheat

Add bulgur wheat to a pan. Dissolve stock cube in 250 ml of boiling water add to bulgur wheat, simmer gently over low heat for 10-15 min or until soft.
Drain off excess water, fluff with fork. Cover set aside.
Salmon in for 8-10 mins at 180C
Dice tomato, finely chop spring onions. Pick mint and parsley leaves off stalk and finely chop leaves.
Peel and crush garlic and grate the zest of 1/2 lemon.
Add all chopped ingredients to bulgur wheat. Squeeze in juice from half a lemon, add 3-4 dessert spoons of olive oil and stir. Season.
Place onto plates serve salmon on top drizzle with oil.

Chef ‘s Tip. Add diced cucumber to Tabbouleh Salad serve yoghurt mint dip.

I hadn’t read the bit about the olive oil at the end good without.
I didn’t use all the herbs about two stalks of each.

Dancingtomusic · 16/09/2021 05:05

Red- Thank you for this recipe! Its so tasty. I love anything with bulgar wheat. I will hv to look up chermoulda spice- i hvnt got that.

Ed- wow your floor tiles are beautiful!

Half- thank you - I love the hall table! Its from Apple crates?! I was going to order the wall shoes rack. I love your hall table!

Morning.

Really like your floor tiles Ed

I was going to write a po3 to try and get moving but I’ve zero oompf. Will have to be baby steps.

-make coffee
-write a list of what needs doing 🙈👀

DoesHePlayTheFiddle · 16/09/2021 07:12

Thank you, Mc - I went straight to bed. Bliss. Thank you for the flowers, Still.

I wanted an early start - I got one. 2.45.

Tada'd:
Emptying unused overnight bags
Emptying and tidying my everyday bag
Folding and putting away lots of left over carrier bags. Might donate a lot of those, soon.
A little tidying of bedrooms 1 and 2.
Some weird little jobs like... folding some larger tissues and putting them in a clear plastic zip wallet so they wouldn't get scruffy and end up unused - then spraying perfume on them before zipping, so they'll be a joy to open. I'm not sure who I am now, but I'm certainly not the woman I was a year ago. Shock
Now feeling tired and going back to bed!

I have an early meeting so have to run. Hope your morning gets better zoo. Busy week here work wise and have not got any flying done.

SingToTheSky · 16/09/2021 08:16

Morning lovely people 🥰

Been awake since about 6.30 but not got up yet. Had a cup of tea with my meds, DH is getting Cagletini ready for her first day back at nursery now. She’s insisted on putting her pyjama bottoms back on under her leggings 🙄🤔

I can feel it’s going to be a lazy morning for me, I am so sleepy! And AF still heavy so I am not rushing to make the most of my first day not isolating.

DD1 went off to school nervously. Hope she will be ok.

po3.1
❗️Finish the maths I was doing last night
❗️Finish the chapter of the kindle book I’m reading (I finished the other book last night, which may have contributed to my sleepiness today!)
❗️Attempt to get DS started on home ed work

YupIHave · 16/09/2021 09:30

Willow Flowers hope you are okay and your recovery is speedy. And you sing - hope your AF eases up soon. Fingers crossed to DD1 that she has a good day and DD2 has a fun time in Nursery.

Fiddle sorry to hear things took a downturn with your dad.

zoo nightmare morning, without any sleep too. Hopefully, you'll be able to nap in the afternoon?

ED beautiful range and floor.

red I had to look up charmoula as I had no idea what it was. It turned out I do know what it actually is, just not the name.

ta-da
Walked DS into school - 40 min exercise achieved
LoL in wm

To-do
Have bath
Hang out washing
Wait for callback from DS school on ongoing issue
Wait for callback from work re: work hours going forward due to caring duties for DP
Wait for plumber to arrive to fit new radiator in bathroom
Clean bathroom
Pick up parcel from click and collect
Set Boosty off downstairs
Tidy up living room
Put away work bag and lunch bag stuff
Declutter hand bag
Wash up breakfast stuff
Book MOT (eek completely forgot about this)
I'm sure there's more but that's enough to be getting on with.

Redsquirrel5 · 16/09/2021 09:52

ED meant to say love the floor tiles too and of course your Everhot that goes without saying. The whole room is going to be gorgeous and well worth the wait. Glad you are enjoying cooking on it. Have you tried pancakes yet? Great on Bacoglide stuff. Slow cooked anything is wonderful.

Dancing bulgur wheat isn’t something I have used much and was part of the reason for getting it. It was £7:50 in the mark down. The Chermoula was a bit too hot for my liking as it overrode the salmon and was very hot. DH had put the box out so I hadn’t read what was in it but chilli will have been for sure. It was very easy to do and you have a card to keep so will repeat. It was from Booths.

Zoo certainly a Pontypridd morning for you. Repeat ...try not to strangle her 8x
Sing sounds like she wants a pj day at nursery.🤣

Fiddle That was too early a start. Hope today is better than yesterday. Sorry things are fraught with your dad. Does he have dementia?

Honey well that is a plan.🥐☕️ Now I want a croissant🙄

Hope🏃🏽‍♀️🍒👋

Plan- Pof 3
Remove stuff from shelves, dust, put back.
Wash floor
Change and was towels.

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/09/2021 10:04

redGrin
Well she end up nicking bottle my water that was in fridge.didnt make lunch,so hope at least grabbed couple of snacks of she's going to be hangry later...

Redsquirrel5 · 16/09/2021 10:11

Yup it came as a mixed spice. I have found a recipe wit paprika instead of chilli so I will try making it. It keeps in the fridge for 5Days. I didn’t know what it was either partly why I bought the box. I like the sound of the other recipes when I googled most didn’t have chilli.

Zoo cheeky mare. I hope she feels hungry as it will teach her a lesson. Hope your day goes better. Put a nap on your list. I had one yesterday.
