I’m quickly setting up the August thread (ok seriously I know someone says this every month but HOW is it August already?!) - MN has been a bit iffy today, and I got rather distracted this evening which I fear may be a portent of my hosting skills this month. Thank you to the lovely ED for steering us through July despite much to manage at home 💐

Anyway - do join in as we loosely follow the Flylady system, in order to gradually sort our houses out. The key word here is GRADUALLY. There is no turning the house upside down and banishing chaos overnight, there is slow and steady. You are never behind. Miss a day? Week? Decade? No worries, jump back in, it’ll all come round again.

Foxes I put a pic of the bugs on a lovely group chat and it turns out they are the aptly named “whitefly”! So I now know how to deal with it.

I had a rubbish night - awake for ages with tummy ache/nausea and then horrible dreams too. Gah. Have had painkillers and dry cereal but then came back to bed to watch comedy on my phone. Need to try and decide what to get done over the weekend while also resting enough to prevent burnout. From experience I know that stopping completely will make things worse so I’ll stick to small achievable tasks!

Woohoo it’s the weekend!

That means no missions. It’s our final day in zone 2, the kitchen, so it’s a good day to get any last bits of decluttering and cleaning done in there (but remember - it WILL come round again so don’t worry if you can’t fit it in!)

Willow TBH we have managed before. We’ve also managed a while without a proper bed. While I was pregnant with Cagletini in fact. 😳

I do struggle though as my go-to when resting is just to curl up on the sofa, and for some reason furniture changes are something my autistic brain really struggles with, like when we swapped table and chairs with someone I felt like my living room wasn’t mine anymore (although TBF they did smell smoky which probably contributed). But anyway we will manage somehow, we do have some spare mattresses (Caglets have those Ikea beds that pull out to make doubles so there are two stacked on each other) and I think when we get the sofa (and the old piano 😭) collected for the tip, it would be sensible to keep the cushions for now to pile up. I did consider asking around if anyone has a spare small couch or armchair we could borrow but I’d be so paranoid about damaging it.

I like the beanbag idea though, thank you! We don’t have any but maybe we could get a couple to use in the living room for now, but then when the sofa arrives they could go into DD1’s room for when she has friends round (DS’ room is too small to add stuff) so it wouldn’t be a waste. Now… where does one buy beanbags?!

Once we’ve finished the bathroom I want to obviously get started on the living room but I really don’t think we will manage to actually paint until Cagletini is back at nursery (we don’t have another big room downstairs so everything is in the living room, it’s not like we can just shut the door on it and use a dining room or whatever if that makes sense) but I’m trying to think of what else we could get done in advance - I’m thinking sanding the woodwork and radiators and possibly painting them at night since that can be done in small goes. Replacing curtain rail etc. And we still have lots of decluttering and moving around to do - I absolutely have to crack on with the selling of books/games so the smaller Kallax can move upstairs.

Anyway must stop waffling and do stuff.

No idea. I made ds one with foam pieces rather than the bean bag pellets because i knew he would try to burst the thing by jumping on it. You did have to fluff it up periodically though.

If we followed a lunar/menstrual calendar instead of solar (male) there would be 13 ‘moonths’

I track my cycle using a lunar calendar as it is more accurate. I find my sleep and mood is affected by the lunar phases also so for me I always make sure that i have a lunar calendar and will refer to it more than an Georgian (normal) calendar.

There aren't really any well dressings this year and it makes me sad. I understand why but it is a tradition I have enjoyed for years. I hope that they are back next year (assuming safe to do so) and they are not retired as too much fuss and old fashioned.

I am procrastinating.

1 load of washing on line (and it has just started raining HARD),

started clearing persons bed
Did ring people and suggested a detour on the way home would be a good idea
some sorting of clean washing
watered plants (garden and indoor)
repeatedly check for when a parcel is due to arrive
start working through the random crap in the main bathroom that has been used as storage cos luxury of working other bathroom and it needed fixing
find tools for removing old sealent
pass a postman delivered parcel to teen who has given permission for hoovering despite him being asleep
take some pain killers for headache, iron for that, and some bone broth.

I'm about to go rescue the laundry on the line so i can rinse and spin it and hang it out to dry inside. Ah well i tried.

And by hang it out i mean throw it over the tops of doors to dry. The load dries pretty quickly thankfully

Managed to get quite a bit of ds uniform in Tesco today! A bit of a weight off my mind, it was very good value too.

I found the door painting surprisingly difficult 🤔 I think in the living room we will do the woodwork first.

Working on my assignment again, it would be great if I could finish it this weekend. I don’t especially have to, but I really want to just move on now! And although I still feel rubbish today at least it’s something that I can do without moving much.

DD1 has been lying on the mattress on the living room floor all day :( still feeling rubbish although she’s breathing more easily now.

Typed a long post on my phone this morning and it was swallowed AGAIN. MN really isn't fit for purpose on a phone be that browser or app.

-Cleaned cupboard doors
-Cleaned baseboards
-Cleaned that icky couple of inches where baseboards meet kitchen floor and mopping wouldn't be enough to dislodge
-Cleaned electric convection/built in type hob
Cleaned surfaces
-Moved around microwave, toaster etc trying to make a more sensible kitchen
-Talked to love of my life ex who I left nearly 20 years ago and now lives in Sydney for over an hour on the phone whilst cleaning kitchen
-Chased orders that should have been delivered and haven't been or turned up and were shite and need refunds successfully - ish
-Went to deliver some books and the bowl my dad brought blackcurrants to me in to my parents house with ds and visited for a while in the garden
-Talked ds into making us crappy noodles for dinner which he is doing now

I almost feel I was flying today

lol I accidentally took my antidepressant medicine twice yesterday - I take it in the morning and I have all my pills in boxes with am and pm slots. Last night I got out the box for the next day and just as a reflex took the morning pills and only a while after realised what I'd done.

Shame I can't do it more often because I've actually been pretty productive today

I am currently playing hunt the recipe book and flying by the seat of my pants on a pie recipe that requires precise... Not good.

Dad's taking D's and lil zoo to rendalsham forest tom.he refused to do increasingly lengthens trips for dd2 to get better at car travel post covid so she can't do it,and tbh neither can I face it or leave her behind...it's best part 3hrs away.hes very unpleasant when travelling unfamiliar places as has to "get it right" and has unrealistic expectations of family outings.even hint of a squabble or whine it was a fail and he gets very arsey.i CBA with it anymore,it's like fun gets sucked out as he adds thing after thing to itenary to "make most of it as we don't get to do stuff" .he sees no pleasure in picnics in local parks or familiar country parks etc.i look at DD and see the guilt and sadness of being excluded

Door looks fairly decent thank you! I’m quite chuffed with it. I think there are a few bits I’ll need to go over rather than needing a second coat. It was difficult to see what I’d done, being white paint on a white door 🤣 so I missed the odd bit. But for a first time using gloss wood paint I’m fairly pleased.

Was going to do another power of three but Cagletini wants to look at the Egypt book again 🤩 who am I to say no?

zoo it's awful being the one left out, I know that feeling all too well 😔 it is horrible that he won't take the time to help DD2 cope better with long car rides. I'm sure she would have loved to go to the forest too. I also love your shoes, sad I can't wear heels anymore (although I do try sometimes and my ankles quickly remind me why I don't wear them)

Doors are in, he's just getting the frame in and going to have to seal everything. DH should be home soon so that he can figure out the electrical wiring that needs to be rerouted. Before and after pictures attached.

I have done 1 LOL of towels and put the washer on to do a self clean. I cleaned out the trap at the bottom and made a mess because I missed a step 🤦‍♀️
I have gone through some clothes and have them ready to donate.
I am sitting here, wanting to rearrange my living room again. DH will not be happy as everything is so heavy so I have to have his help. The thing is, the furniture we have in here is so big, there's not many options for layout.

discuss plans for tea for the people (i have leftovers and the teen will sort himself)
be delighted with plants that people brought home to make the lounge look pretty
spend 15mins tidying in my room
Swear because the bed is still covered in stuff and i am very tired
Assemble pies
move laundry baskets
clean bed

And that is the end of my energy. I haz the tiredz and i need the sleepz
