Action Stations for August! Fledglings Flap Frantically and Swish’n’Swipe through Summer

Welcome one and all!

I’m quickly setting up the August thread (ok seriously I know someone says this every month but HOW is it August already?!) - MN has been a bit iffy today, and I got rather distracted this evening which I fear may be a portent of my hosting skills this month. Thank you to the lovely ED for steering us through July despite much to manage at home 💐

Anyway - do join in as we loosely follow the Flylady system, in order to gradually sort our houses out. The key word here is GRADUALLY. There is no turning the house upside down and banishing chaos overnight, there is slow and steady. You are never behind. Miss a day? Week? Decade? No worries, jump back in, it’ll all come round again.

Blanch broad beans (I harvested loads a couple of nights ago, depodded them last night and forgot to do them)
Talk to DH about ongoing kitchen work and how much stuff we've still got in other places to find homes for / what we should chuck out.

Last night DS and I tackled a mammoth pile of clean laundry that we have been procrastinating over for about a fortnight, it hardly took any time at all to sort and put away, it was nice to have the space clear again. Why do we build up these tasks as insurmountable when really, they can be done if you just get on with it.

I think i must average 3 loads of laundry a day. There is always dirty and clean stuff hanging around here.

Good luck with gcse results. Kind of wish mine were coming in an email. How do i hide my dispointment on the phone if its only a 3 (or less!) 😑

In other news i have recieved my DipHE certificate 😎 so i do have a brain in there somewhere

🌻had a proper early night instead of faffing about on my phone, was asleep by about 10.30 I think!

Very busy day today - volunteer call at 10, friend bringing toddler over for a quick play before we go to lunch, job centre appt, then my last tutor session of the week! I used to be someone who could only manage maybe two things a day tops. I’ll be shattered tonight I expect 🤣 but anyway I need to get stuff done this morning.

No details on DD's results yet, but the Sixth Form they want to go to has confirmed their place, so we conclude they jumped the hurdle. Phew!

Good news Willow, phew. Well done on the diploma too That.

Balls, never mind. DD misunderstood the "please send us your results" email, and the Pearson Edexcel website has fallen over. Back to twitching.

Mad here yesterday.his nibbs appeared and helped do the Aldi/farmfood shop so freezers full and fridge

Dd1 us pretty much going into lockdown from this weekend terrified of pick up covid and scuppering it all

In response to what's happening with lil zoo during honeymoon/thereafter.who knows?dd1 is non confrontational and nothings arranged yet.the children's first support workers going Friday at 1 to push these arrangements etc

Chazza shop with dd2(saw couple bits last time were dropping off she wants for back to 6th form)
Chase up 6th form/children first as to whether she can redo year 12 and sort out her worries and start thinking strategy to help with that
Sort council.....

DDs friend from Uni is dropping in. Just realised I have no biscuits or cake if they want a coffee. Might quickly make piklets( pancakes)

Ds has left the building. Apparently he will be back to sleep because he didn't get to bed until 5am... Apparently i am fussing too much because I broke ranks and gave him a hug. Nope, over tired and over caffienated. May the odds be in your favour kiddo never under estimate the power of a grin of pure mischief in the face of eye rolling from a teen Crap ton today but i would like to know if he got his 6th form place. That is all. Anything else is a bonus. But not having to scramble to sort sept out would be really really nice.

Annoyingly wrote long post yesterday morning thanking people and explaining things and it literally just disappeared so got the huff with the internet and finished another book instead.

I’ve pretty much eradicated the piles of clean laundry in the kitchen by gradually putting away and so far so good with fleas.

Managed to organise a hair rescue appointment with lovely mobile hairdresser who between her having babies and Covid I haven’t seen in years and apparently the hedge trimming and collapsed raised bed removing guy is coming this morning. I need to move bikes and all sorts so he can properly get at hedges next.

Also ordered meds and bought things I need for September. So house still a tip but other things feel sort of organised.

Congrats on HEDip That and good luck to everyone waiting on GCSEs.

I’m feeling a bit less fragile and wondering whether setting into hrt is possibly a bit of a rollercoaster. Mid hot flush currently so not convinced this dose is enough.
