I’m quickly setting up the August thread (ok seriously I know someone says this every month but HOW is it August already?!) - MN has been a bit iffy today, and I got rather distracted this evening which I fear may be a portent of my hosting skills this month. Thank you to the lovely ED for steering us through July despite much to manage at home 💐

Anyway - do join in as we loosely follow the Flylady system, in order to gradually sort our houses out. The key word here is GRADUALLY. There is no turning the house upside down and banishing chaos overnight, there is slow and steady. You are never behind. Miss a day? Week? Decade? No worries, jump back in, it’ll all come round again.

Morning! Out all day yesterday, so no flying achieved at all. Today, I'm really hoping for a quiet day before dinner - DS2 and GF are coming round.

Sing. Also bleary eyed as DD (who’d climbed in with us) woke at 2am announcing her PJs were wet. Thankfully she’d been lying on her side on top of the duvet so there was only a tiny wet patch on that, and we have two on our bed anyway. It wa s almost 5 before I got back to sleep though.

Zoo . If I lived in your area I’d take you to the shops no problem and egg ‘d’p’s house Hope you find a lovely dress and the shopping goes ok.

for flea bomb Honey. Wanting perfectionism put me off sorting our place out for ages. Once I got over the idea that I had to do everything at once and just concentrated on a corner, a drawer, a shelf at a time it got done.

We had a nice lunch out yesterday, followed by a trip to the funfair (should have remortgaged the house beforehand ) and also a damp walk to the park later on. I am quite chuffed with my YesTaDas:
⭐️ reclaimed kitchen
⭐️ decluttered shoe unit and drawers for hats etc in hallway.
⭐️ pulled out said units and cleaned underneath.
⭐️ decluttered basket of crap at bottom of stairs
⭐️ cleared ridiculous hot spot that had taken over the dining table. Wiped it down and made it look pretty with some flowers.
⭐️ LOL done and clean stuff put away
⭐️ went sofa diving and found an impressive number of socks belonging to DD and DH, and millions of my own hair clips.
⭐️ carried up various toys that had migrated downstairs
⭐️ made a list of what we need to buy for the baby

The house is still not perfect but with a bit more sorting and tidying today and a deep clean through the week (I have two days off) we should be ok for the party. Also have the ironing to do, meal planning and will probably need to go shopping too.

Well the weighted blanket did not work for DD1. Too claustrophobic. I still may get a smaller one for DS to try (I could still use it sometimes, my one is really insanely heavy 🤣)

Dog is still itching but I haven’t seen a flea so I am hoping it’s just skin irritation and I’m going to give him an antihistamine and put some lavender oil on the area he’s chewing at to make him leave it alone.

Phew, 7 questions typed up today (I’d already written notes the other night). So that’s 22 done in total, and only 5 left to go. I’d forgotten DH is out today (working) so I’m glad I got that much done, and for now I’ll try and get other stuff done so I can get back upstairs to the PC when he’s home. Really want to finish it today.

Prior to that I did another lol. I meant to only put it in the machine for later as still had stuff drying but went onto autopilot. I also put more into the charity bag.

-Take the charity bag to a drop off bin in the village
-If ds ever wakes up get him to bring down plates and rotate dw.
-put away more of the piles of clean laundry
-vacuum landing and bathroom

Today has been a struggle. I missed a dose of medicine yesterday and i felt it. I am also struggling with my joints atm. Which is a problem as today is a joint taxing kinda day in terms of the to do list

But it is now time to stop procrastinating and actually get dressed and get on with the physically hard stuffs and laundry sot there is clothes for work tomo.

honey thank you for the kind thought - i am torn between wanting an off-grid farmstead and wanting a modern kitchen with large garden setup. Thankfully dreaming is free So i have lots of huge contradictory dreams which keep me sane when i am swearing at things. I am rediculous but i totally embrace that

Paid lil zoo exhorbitant choice of shoes and skirt

Lunch was can stewsteak,can carrotsand pasta.dd2 had Quorn pieces from freezer with her pasta and veg.not amazing,but edible and had protein,veg,carbs etc so I calling that a win(plus lob all in one pan to cook and didn't take long)
Was wild windy and lashing rain when ate,do felt comfortingly good!
Lil zoo went beach with dd1 and fiance and doggo as doggis birthday.21/2 hrs drive nearest beach,they stayed less 2hours,half if which eat picnic in car as was wet windy and chilly.couple photos I got on snap made me bit sad,but try not to get in even worse frame mind

Chance play games tog on hold as D's and dad are gaming tog online...
Dd2 chilling in her room,expecting a walk in a bit,so I don't want my hot shower til after that and can put on snuggly clothes

Added bonus I swept living room floor,bag up rubbish/overflowing bins and dd2 doing recycling to bin outside later as collections tom
DS is doing litter trays later as fed up warning him not throw kitchen roll (too many towels in litter tray and OCD got fed up ending up throw away towels reeking cat wee/soiled)in litter trays

Hills I see no contradiction at all between an off-grid farmstead and a modern massive kitchen. I am definitely buying a Georgian rectory, complete with servants bells etc but also totally wired for sound and wifi without compromising the period nature of the property, when I win the lottery. It will be set on several acres of land behind an FGW (fucking great wall) but still be convenient for all the things I need to do and buy 😂.

Anyway. Enough of that!

After my tea and bacon sandwich, I went back to bed and slept til 1! I was obviously more tired that I thought. Since then, FIL has been on the phone shouting that DH is trying to get him sectioned (he's not), DS2 has called in for his speakers, amp and XBox (got to have the absolute basics in your new life!) and I have picked the first blackberries from the garden. I was expecting just a few to sprinkle in crumble, but I've got nearly 2 pints!

To do:
🎺 Take clean washing upstairs and sort out
🎷 Get another LOL on
🎺 Make crumble topping
🎷 Get lamb joint in the oven
🎺 Make 6 individual crumbles, to deal with Fruity Foibles
🎷 Have a little rest so I have enough energy for my Big Sleep tonight!

Had a productive afternoon once I’d watched a bit of telly on my phone. Started the detail edging in the bathroom with small bits of masking tape and a very thin paintbrush, still got a way to go. Delegated a few tasks to the smaller Caglets (DD1 not back yet), tidied up a bit and ran the DW. Even got to play piano for a bit - DS has been so lovely with his little sister today keeping her entertained while I get stuff done.

DH is home now and they’re all playing a game, so:

I'm ready for that to be over and the dust to be all the way gone.
