Welcome fledglings to May’s Flylady thread – many, many thanks to ED for her expert guidance through April 2021.

All are welcome and especially Newbies. Don’t be shy in making yourselves known because we are a friendly bunch.
We follow Flylady’s system for house and sanity maintenance which is based around 5 room zones spread over the month. There is a weekly quick home clean in the midst of more thorough zone cleaning. I am an aging fledgling who really should be more proactive about following the plan but to be frank I enjoy the natter and good company more than I enjoy cleaning. Every day I will be checking in and giving the ‘flight plan’ for the day with links to the Flylady site. You can join Flylady on her site for email updates but she does like to send a lot out, just so you know!
The most importantist thing to know is that you are NEVER behind – just do what you can when you can. Many of us post ta da lists as we cross items off our [never-ending] to do lists.
You may find the following acronyms along the way (adapted below from ED’s useful list from April)
LOL = load of laundry
S&S = swish and swipe, a quick daily clean of the toilet and sink
PO3 = power of 3. When motivation is on the low side or you’re overwhelmed just pick 3 things at a time and do them
DNLMS = did not lose my shit
Ned = our mythical mate who helps with the laundry
Pointy stick —-> = for when a fledgling needs a motivational prod
The naughty corner = a relaxing haven where we hang out when motivation is low or when life becomes overwhelming. Usually enticing food is left there with squishy cushions.
KCC – (Keep calm corner) these are little stories, photos, memes, off-topic questions, just to keep us all distracted from the general tedium of lockdown life. Feel free to chip in.

Well I can see there have been more early risers than usual on the thread - ED how exciting about the kitchen ordering. I shall be drawing on the hive mind of the thread if we ever get to renovate our kitchen. Foxes wishing you energy today. Mrstidyhouse you are an inspiration indeed. I always feel I can achieve more when I've got things sorted around the house. sing I am having procrastination day before anti procrastination day tomorrow - well done on the power of 3 and for naughty corner provision. Red - those ruddy phone calls are the bane of my life. If on landline I have to run to find hearing aids first, only to discover it's some cold call.

Hills - hope all well. Ditto everyone else. SC hope all good with family and he of the long face...

Red - we're going back to the showroom on Sat to make a final decision on colour. DH thinks we should go bigger but I really can't justify the expense / loss of counter space.

Dancingtomusic · 04/05/2021 12:27

Call callers are very annoying.

I had a tiny tipple yesterday, whisky- black cherry flavour. It was lovely.🍹

my mind is slightly all over the place.
🍹Convinced kids to have school meal today to save on money and for me to to not have to prep lunchboxes.
🍹Got kids late to school again as Dd wouldnt wake up.
🍹Dashed to Aldi for bread and bit.
🍹Dark lol on
🍹Walked back up to school with forgotton water bottles.
🍹Tea and toast.
🍹Make tiny attemps to sort kitchen.
🍹More tiny attemps to slightly declutter sitting room of phonics card and pencil crayrons- looks like an explosive device gone off in sitting room floor. Do i have carpet? 🤷‍♀️
🍹Check my email every hour and tell myself to cook dinner now...to prevent stress later.
Maybe i should sit and watch tv until I regain my motivation...as its gone.🙈😆

🍒👋 everyone.🍹leaving black cherry flavour whisky in the corner.

dancing I often thought my living room floor was missing, presumed buried under piles of toys/crafts/belongings.its not forever and as long as it's not neck breakingly bad I just swept a path thru the middle on bad days and let them carry on!(disclaimer at this point I had 31/2 year old,2 year old that could only just walk/was very behind on milestones/had poor muscle tone and we had multiple appointments for physio/speech etc going on,lil zoo came along and I was not even firefighting for a while after her c sect!but we all survived and I can look back on it now as funny it a slatternish way,and as such make no judgements of others houses!Grin>

Rang camhs,as expected no major help whatsoever.apparently dd2 may take anything from 2-4 weeks to recover equilibrium, meanwhile encourage diaphragm breathing, model calm behaviour and provide sensory supportoh well!

Chase up oven repair man.doors finally being looked at this afternoon!
3LOL done, fold dry and put away
Made D's lunch
Put chips, veggie sausages in mini oven.added asparagus and peppers after a bit.ready soon😋
Not much else really as very tired..Blush

Pm plan
Quick tidy overflowing bin/make sure kitchens not a craphole prior to repair man coming
Walk lil zoo home from school later
Menu plan/write shop list dd1 for tesco tonight

SingToTheSky · 04/05/2021 13:06

Aaaaargh how is it 1pm already?! I have achieved so little. Am definitely in procrastination mode. Even deciding my next power of three is proving tricky today Hmm

Right. FFS Sing get on with it.

po3.2
1️⃣order a second hand computer (I have luckily been given a grant from the job centre as we don’t have any computer currently!)
2️⃣fold the too-small clothes DD1 handed me last night and add them and a stray board book to the charity bag
3️⃣hide with YouTube for a bit to restore equilibrium

halfhope · 04/05/2021 13:10

I have to say, having lived in Ireland for 36 years and now Scotland for 13, I have not encountered whisk(e)y in that particular flavour Dancing Grin but as it's wet and alcoholic I would be willing to give it a try Grin

OP posts:
SingToTheSky · 04/05/2021 13:52

Right that’s done.

po3.3
1️⃣fill in a chart for training tomorrow and email it
2️⃣LOL
3️⃣type up DS’ club list while he reads it out to me, format and print

Redsquirrel5 · 04/05/2021 13:54

Apologies for predicted text I should read it first.

Ironing all done bar two things on radiator that I have just seen. Sheets took ages. Clothing all washed and ironed ok I admit some has been in the ironing basket for two weeks! All done so can chose and pack.

Washed up breakfast things.
Wiped worktop.
Soaked tea pot.

Washed up lunch things.
Wiped worktop.
Put some things away from hot spot.

Need to wash the floors still but going to town to move some money and collect my prescriptions.

Hope I haven’t either. Cherry brandy in the cupboard but whisky is straight here.

I had a ? For the Corner but now I have forgotten it😫🤭

Right better go and tidy self up( put a bra on, remove jammie pants) then go to town. This time tomorrow I will be ‘nearly there’ in Bonny Scotland.

SingToTheSky · 04/05/2021 15:16

List done. Power of three definitely helping today.

po3.4

2️⃣clear top of trofast units on landing and clean surface (some stash and dashing required but that’s ok for now)
3️⃣have something to eat and a sit down watching something

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/05/2021 17:05

Repairman came.has taken away glass oven door, amazed it didn't shatter when fell off.he thinks he can fix it-basically glue fell off,and he has the special heatproof stuff in stock,so has taken it away to mend.hopefully back by end of the week(one man business, loves animalsand very reasonably priced)
Had email from.camhs offering a check in on 12 may(next week)
Watched episode dd2 current fave show
Collected lil zoo
Slip and jar back/hip feels off.lil zoo walked on taking video of self on phone leaving me limping behind.didnt bother look back.i passed her end of the alleyway as she had phone in tree taking selfies.i childishly walked on as we were only few minutes from home then,in built up area, and she never attempt hold any conversation at all....
Decided to have some wine gums on my return as felt quite sorry for myself.i will probably pay for that later/tom..

Need sort list for dd1 shop trip to Tesco shortly

Redsquirrel5 · 04/05/2021 17:06

Back from town. Well city because the weather was so awful I told DH the city would do as prescription sent there. Not all in ...AGAIN! However when I said I wouldn’t be home as going to see my sister as very ill she gave me four boxes of Covid tests. Brilliant. I found some more capsules so rang them to say.

Thanks Hope but we have hail and some roads partially flooded ! Will be packing a vest and fleece maybe a jumper. Rainproof jacket. Boots , wellies? 😭 I’m going to the beach tomorrow😩

We’re supposed to be having salad tonight. I bought some stuff to make a vegan salad in DDs magazine subscription she sent us for Christmas.

shipsngiggles · 04/05/2021 17:29

Hi guys, sorry I dropped off. I changed my name back (sort of, but the old one was taken because this is a new account) as I like a boaty theme😂. I had an allergic reaction to my deodorant and my armpits have come out in a rash, it’s so sore, I can barely move my arms. DD thinks it’s hilarious😂. I hope everyone had a nice bank holiday, the weather was rubbish here so we just visited DM and stayed inside (she’s in our bubble), I’m hoping the weather improves soon.

Thank you hope the light was DH’s doing,it’s lovely on the evenings.

mc I did manage the sleep thank you! I feel a lot better now.

up we try and eat outside as much as possible, hopefully the weather gets better soon and we can do it more often.

tidy well done on getting so much done! You’re doing brilliant!

zoo your grandzoolets would be very lucky to have you as a nan!. My little ones are really lucky as they have lots of grandparents and great grandparents and they love getting mucky with them!.

I’m sorry to hear you still aren’t feeling well sing!

foxes sorry about the lack of sleep!

Very exciting ED! But I completely understand the apprehension!

I hope I’ve managed to catch up! It’s stopped raining here now, but so muddy. I think I might take DD for a walk, I’m tired so hopefully it can wake me up a bit.

halfhope · 04/05/2021 18:03

I've just done endless laundry today and rotated DW. Tired as if I've been digging potatoes all day.

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/05/2021 20:21

Ironically potatoes have been the source of all problems here

Can you keep all the potatoes MC?
