Welcome fledglings to May’s Flylady thread – many, many thanks to ED for her expert guidance through April 2021.

All are welcome and especially Newbies. Don’t be shy in making yourselves known because we are a friendly bunch.
We follow Flylady’s system for house and sanity maintenance which is based around 5 room zones spread over the month. There is a weekly quick home clean in the midst of more thorough zone cleaning. I am an aging fledgling who really should be more proactive about following the plan but to be frank I enjoy the natter and good company more than I enjoy cleaning. Every day I will be checking in and giving the ‘flight plan’ for the day with links to the Flylady site. You can join Flylady on her site for email updates but she does like to send a lot out, just so you know!
The most importantist thing to know is that you are NEVER behind – just do what you can when you can. Many of us post ta da lists as we cross items off our [never-ending] to do lists.
You may find the following acronyms along the way (adapted below from ED’s useful list from April)
LOL = load of laundry
S&S = swish and swipe, a quick daily clean of the toilet and sink
PO3 = power of 3. When motivation is on the low side or you’re overwhelmed just pick 3 things at a time and do them
DNLMS = did not lose my shit
Ned = our mythical mate who helps with the laundry
Pointy stick —-> = for when a fledgling needs a motivational prod
The naughty corner = a relaxing haven where we hang out when motivation is low or when life becomes overwhelming. Usually enticing food is left there with squishy cushions.
KCC – (Keep calm corner) these are little stories, photos, memes, off-topic questions, just to keep us all distracted from the general tedium of lockdown life. Feel free to chip in.

Thanks lovelies 🥰 I feel a bit better having written a load of random snippets in my phone about what experience and skills I could mention, and why I’d be interested etc. And I’ve printed the job/person specs for both roles to go through with a highlighter later. I think I’ve accepted this morning is a write off as the adrenaline surge has rendered me useless 🤣

Finally getting DS to get on with some English and we will settle down to watch the documentary once DH takes Cagletini for her jabs

Redsquirrel5 · 26/05/2021 10:32

sing good for you. If nothing else it will give you experience in going through the process for future opportunities.

Zoo teenagers can be quite cruel with words. Girls more so.

Dancing well done on using your calm voice so had when you want to shout “Get out of bed” or *Will you get dressed” for the umpteenth time.
Do come and post. You were so helpful to me.

MrsTidy great that you are able to start earlier. Half an hour can make so much difference. I found using a timer helps too I just don’t use it enough and then get side tracked.

Hope well done you I am still in the boudoir but Sing has spurred me on to making little dents and I decluttered a box and a basket. Further decluttering needed for the box as I found three files of phonics and English in it.

I am doing less because I am playing in the greenhouse. We went out to four places on Monday and felt utterly exhausted. I would have done that and gone to work all day. Nursery, Chemist, B&Q and Another place like Dobbies where the prices have really jumped up and we came away with one small unusual mint for £2:50. Went to the Range yesterday and came home with three more pots for tomatoes, two Tomato growbags and a lovely clematis! No pea gravel which is what we have been for Monday and Tuesday. DH doesn't want to go back to place we bought it but has driven more miles avoiding it and going elsewhere.
I am staying in to do Boudoir and Mt. Ironmore. Then I can go in the garden and plant the clematis. Tie two others up and tackle a new job somewhere.

Not done anything today so far. Can’t believe it’s only 1pm.

HillsBesideTheSea · 26/05/2021 20:20

Zoo is there a pattern with bunged up prior to period? I seem to vaguely remember similar timings last month? being a girl really does come with such perks Hmm

halfhope · 26/05/2021 20:42

'Progesterone causes the thickening of the uterine walls just before you ovulate, which may lead to constipation several days before you start menstruating. Progesterone also causes food to move more slowly through your intestines, causing you to feel backed up.'

Basically Progesterone slows things down and Prostaglandins during period speed things up ·

I seemed to have fallen off the thread! Oops 😬
Things have been a little hectic here, between emergency plumber call out (kitchen sink backed up), water softener installation and helping SIL with picking up home diy supplies with the pickup. Then to make it even better for us I discovered DD has purchased ANOTHER vape! I found one about a month ago, she pulled out a 2nd one. We grounded her, told her we lost all trust in her and that she had to earn it back. I found a charge on her account at a vape shop almost 2 weeks ago 🤬😡🤬😡🤬 to say I'm fuming mad is definitely an understatement, I was shaking from being so mad earlier. They just changed the law here that you have to be 21 to vape/ buy an e-cigarette, she's only 17, so she's clearly having someone buy it for her.

Anyway, so much has happened on this thread!
zoo I'm shocked lil zoo has parenting criticism and think you do the best you can with everything that's thrown at you.
🍒👋 to everyone

HazelNuttyElf · 26/05/2021 22:23

Oh I wanted to say go for it Sing just like others have said, if you don't get the job, at least you gain some experience with interviews and get you out there again. You never know they may have another position open up and they think of you 🤞

halfhope · 26/05/2021 22:26

I'd be annoyed too Hazelnutty 😡😡😡

This is dump and run. I shall catch up with personals tomorrow.

Ta das:
💥Living room sorted: Dusted, tidied, books rearranged, surfaces wiped with antibac incl light switches and remote controls.
💥Bathroom blitzed
💥Kitchen blitzed
💥Carpet rubber brushed
💥Hoovered
💥Bedroom sorted: dusted and antibac to surfaces including light switches

SingToTheSky · 26/05/2021 22:51

Oh no hazel I’d be gutted too! Especially with the law breaking of course, but I hear vapes while not having the tar etc are still not exactly safe long term 😭

I’m in bed with a hot water bottle on my hips. My lazy morning did me good and I then felt desperate to continue decluttering! So I made good progress on some BRCs - I went through the same ones again but much more carefully, and threw/rehomed virtually everything (even if some things are still technically mixed, for example I have a box for random game pieces that will need to be sorted, but it’s still a vast improvement that they’re all together and not in random places!). But I am now stiff and sore from sitting cross legged for too long Hmm last time I checked I swear I was only 34 Hmm

But anyway. More progress made even if I didn’t do the bits I hoped to today (DH was ill in bed so I couldn’t do the upstairs stuff).

ta da
🔸got Cagletini ready for nursery
🔶phoned nursery
🔸messaged about job roles!
🔶printed job specs and wrote some notes about relevant skills etc for potential chat with manager
🔸arranged piano lesson for after half term!
🔶arranged to tutor my friend’s DS in maths twice a week!
🔸much more in depth BRC-diving
🔶a little reorganisation of various toys, games and puzzles

EversoDelighted · 26/05/2021 23:06

Dump and run from me too

Busy day at work, DH chased the builder for dates for the kitchen, builder needs to delay and gave us a draft quote. I said "we'll go through that this evening" after dinner and DH promptly said he was going for a walk (I had been for a run before dinner so fair enough). Thought I'd make a start by myself, two hours of paperwork, online research and emails later I have gone to bed and he's still not back probably at the pub with his mate.

Hazel - I'd be furious too.

Dancing . sorry things are getting a bit much.

Zoo - I'm sorry about DD and her harsh words. Mine had me in tears this morning too.

Sing - well done for enquiring about the jobs

MrsT - glad the new timings are working to your advantage

Hills - someone posted a video of a toddler swearing the other day but I can't remember where and when I googled it (F word) I got some completely unmentionable results. It was very funny though.

Stilllivinginazoo · 27/05/2021 03:46

Nicelist *MC"
HazelI'd. Not be impressed either
Hills/hope seems to be a family thing we all do.i think for her we shall continue the daily ground flax see that helps!

HillsBesideTheSea · 27/05/2021 04:31

Morning.

I just like patterns and have a stupid memory Hmm hopefully the flax does its job for her.

I am awake. I have absolutely no idea why i am awake but the cars look frozen over. Sad
I have a fresh hot water bottle. Though i am in two minds as to whether i want to try to go back to sleep or if i want to just get up and function.
