Welcome fledglings to May’s Flylady thread – many, many thanks to ED for her expert guidance through April 2021.

All are welcome and especially Newbies. Don’t be shy in making yourselves known because we are a friendly bunch.
We follow Flylady’s system for house and sanity maintenance which is based around 5 room zones spread over the month. There is a weekly quick home clean in the midst of more thorough zone cleaning. I am an aging fledgling who really should be more proactive about following the plan but to be frank I enjoy the natter and good company more than I enjoy cleaning. Every day I will be checking in and giving the ‘flight plan’ for the day with links to the Flylady site. You can join Flylady on her site for email updates but she does like to send a lot out, just so you know!
The most importantist thing to know is that you are NEVER behind – just do what you can when you can. Many of us post ta da lists as we cross items off our [never-ending] to do lists.
You may find the following acronyms along the way (adapted below from ED’s useful list from April)
LOL = load of laundry
S&S = swish and swipe, a quick daily clean of the toilet and sink
PO3 = power of 3. When motivation is on the low side or you’re overwhelmed just pick 3 things at a time and do them
DNLMS = did not lose my shit
Ned = our mythical mate who helps with the laundry
Pointy stick —-> = for when a fledgling needs a motivational prod
The naughty corner = a relaxing haven where we hang out when motivation is low or when life becomes overwhelming. Usually enticing food is left there with squishy cushions.
KCC – (Keep calm corner) these are little stories, photos, memes, off-topic questions, just to keep us all distracted from the general tedium of lockdown life. Feel free to chip in.

Morning. I used to get "bowel difficulties" around my period in my teens too, zoo. It's crap being a woman sometimes.

Hazel new house difficulties are understandable if tedious, but I'd be properly furious about the vape. Luckily, all my teens have inherited their father's instant-nausea response to tobacco / nicotine (DH's early experiments with smoking as a student led to pretty immediate vomitting). Hope you can find a way that sticks to "encourage" her not to do it.

Mc lots achieved there! Sometimes dump and run is all that can be managed.

Hills sorry you were awake so early, hope you got some more rest. It's finally brightened up here and when I went outside to stop WillowHound yarping at pigeons at 7am it was quite pleasant and sunny.

Red hope you are enjoying playing in the greenhouse, it sounds lovely.

Hope where do I sign up for an ice bar and my own personal igloo? Apparently this is the wettest May for decades (possibly a century) but that can't be true. That was May 2007 when most of Gloucestershire was underwater and we had the roof off 🤦.

Sing hope Cagletini is not suffering for her injecments and your hips are recovering.

ED I assume DH turned up eventually? Teens can be so foul sometimes, sorry one of yours made you cry too.

Right. Just off to paint the bathroom ceiling again, prior to blind fitting mid-afternoon!

Second window alcove coat of paint done. Think I will crack on with the rest of it, while I am unwashed and paint spattered and DS3 is in lessons til 10.

DH turned up just as I was falling asleep. He didn't come up, must have fallen asleep on the sofa because he came up at about 5am, woke me up and then I didn't get back to sleep. Words have been had .

I managed to fall back asleep at 5am and then slept through my alarm. So I am going to be late for college. Should be there in 10 mins and it is a 20min plus drive. And there is this social convention of clothes?

It will be fine, tutor knows mornings are a struggle atm stupid Chronic illnesses.

Morning all. Not got up yet other than for meds (which I took late so I’m not even with it mentally yet 😳🤣). Hips still not too happy. Anxious about the potential job application. Not remotely prepared for DS’ appt on zoom later. Gah.

Sorry, can't keep up at all, it was rhubarb loaf cake zoo it's very nice!

I'm exhausted, had my covid jab a few days ago and my smear test yesterday so I feel a bit poked and prodded and sore.

But the sun is finally properly shining 🌞

I really will try and catch up properly later, got to get back to work now.

Yay my supervisor has emailed and said the manager will arrange to speak to me tomorrow! I took the opportunity to mention that I realised I meet more of the criteria than I originally thought, and her reply was that I probably don’t give myself enough credit :o so that’s a good sign. :)

In other good news I finally did the green eggs and ham read through with DS and he really surprised me with his expressiveness (and he even pointed out where I could do better :o) - we will swap roles tomorrow and do the maths work based on it too. Only got a few chapters of Northern Lights left too, I need to catch up and prep a couple of activities over half term for him.

In worse news DH’s phone has given up the ghost 😭🤦🏽‍♀️

Hooray, good news about the supervisor chat, Sing. Less good about the phone.

Pleased to report the first bathroom ceiling coat is finished and I am only slightly completely covered in paint.

willow I had forgotten, I did see the pictures of your bathroom - I love it! The wallpaper is gorgeous, as well as the tiles.

zoo I had also seen the picture of your flower arrangement and I love that too 😍 very nicely done.

ED I'll help dig the hole under the patio for your 'd'h. How inconsiderate of him! So was he at the pub?

Sing that sounds very good re supervisor conversation. I'm sure your conversation will go well with the manager. I hope it isn't too much to replace/ repair the phone.

hills clearly you needed the sleep, I'm glad your tutor understands your situation.

foxes rhubarb loaf sounds so good! I'm trying to grow some right now, my previous neighbour have me some clippings of hers (lemon rhubarb - that I didn't even know existed!) But it doesn't seem to be doing very well with the move at all 😔

I must get better at actually typing what I think when I read the thread, instead of assuming you are all mind readers 🥴

Anyway, another day at work today, I should be just at home tonight, hopefully I can get to bed early, as these late nights are killing me.
I will clean my desk while I'm at work, but that doesn't usually take me very long.
