Welcome fledglings to May’s Flylady thread – many, many thanks to ED for her expert guidance through April 2021.

All are welcome and especially Newbies. Don’t be shy in making yourselves known because we are a friendly bunch.
We follow Flylady’s system for house and sanity maintenance which is based around 5 room zones spread over the month. There is a weekly quick home clean in the midst of more thorough zone cleaning. I am an aging fledgling who really should be more proactive about following the plan but to be frank I enjoy the natter and good company more than I enjoy cleaning. Every day I will be checking in and giving the ‘flight plan’ for the day with links to the Flylady site. You can join Flylady on her site for email updates but she does like to send a lot out, just so you know!
The most importantist thing to know is that you are NEVER behind – just do what you can when you can. Many of us post ta da lists as we cross items off our [never-ending] to do lists.
You may find the following acronyms along the way (adapted below from ED’s useful list from April)
LOL = load of laundry
S&S = swish and swipe, a quick daily clean of the toilet and sink
PO3 = power of 3. When motivation is on the low side or you’re overwhelmed just pick 3 things at a time and do them
DNLMS = did not lose my shit
Ned = our mythical mate who helps with the laundry
Pointy stick —-> = for when a fledgling needs a motivational prod
The naughty corner = a relaxing haven where we hang out when motivation is low or when life becomes overwhelming. Usually enticing food is left there with squishy cushions.
KCC – (Keep calm corner) these are little stories, photos, memes, off-topic questions, just to keep us all distracted from the general tedium of lockdown life. Feel free to chip in.

Urgh. Very thoughtful with the cattle prod there zoo, I like your thinking.

Sorry about the fighting and lack of sleep. I have woken up with post-vaccine fug - nowhere near as bad as last time, but definitely still aware of my entire skeleton. Quiet day today I think. Maybe my brain will work, even if my body doesn't.

Or perhaps I should just have more Brew before I launch myself into the day, just to be sure 🤷.

Dancingtomusic · 21/05/2021 08:58

zoo - hope the weather stays dry for you today.

half- I honestly have had the brain fog....very badly this week.
I went to empty my kids water bottle....i was near the sink...and managed to empty it all over the floor instead...😂

Willow- its a good idea to take it easy today after the jab.

Its been nearly a week since my jab, this time its barely affected me at all. Just had a tiny sore bump at jab site and I had a nap on the day of the jab. I feel lots better this time.

I have forgotton to send the kids to school with water bottles...got to go back...🤦‍♀️

halfhope · 21/05/2021 09:10

Grin in the post jab naughty corner section you need to stay at least 15 mins for monitoring and pampering Grin

Looks like we are all easing our way into Friday. AWFUL weather here. Lots of things not to look forward to today - work cockup to sort, phone dr appointment this afternoon, zone cleaning still not done, can't really get out for a walk unless I'm prepared to dry off and change clothes afterwards, swimming class this afternoon. I think I might have a glass of vino if I get through today as it's Friday and wretched.

today

babystep21

I am dressed up in work clothes armour and makeup warpaint in a vain (in every sense) effort to tackle today.

Post jab section for me too. Currently curled up under my duvet with a heater pointed at me, I’m freezing! Need painkillers too, did we find a manager for the naughty corner pharmacy yet? Maybe Ned would like a break from the ironing and could take over? We can pay in chocolate.

I wanted to get on with Project Bathroom Clean today but at least this morning it’s not happening. Maybe I’ll feel better later.

halfhope · 21/05/2021 10:39

You are officially ordered off Project Bathroom Clean and onto Project Self Care (Advanced) Sing. I'd leave Ned ironing and pay yourself in chocolate.

I am doing stomping and saying fut here as someone in work who has shirked work that I needed them to do and was their job anyway (they are very, very busy apparently) has now emailed me chasing completion of work that I am in the middle of juggling as trying to sort work mess up elsewhere. To be fair it is my job but it's a process...

It is very wet here and ds has announced today that his wellies no longer fit and haven't for a while (thanks for the lead in there love)

And it is proper raining here

halfhope · 21/05/2021 11:47

OP posts:
SingToTheSky · 21/05/2021 11:59

Well done that! Progress is progress! Do you have the +/-10% rule for the word count?

Thank you for the order to rest hope I may have brought my duvet down to the sofa. Sicky headache has set in now which I had last time. Bah.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 21/05/2021 12:01

Its 5% for this module sing so i can get away with 2850 words

Dancingtomusic · 21/05/2021 13:27

That great start!

Sing- stay on sofa with duvet- drink lots of water. The nurse told me that.

half' warpaint and armour does help! Goodluck.

willow- hope you are not doing too much.

zoo - hope you are not getting soaked.

Its windy and raining here but I do love the rain.

Ta das...I actually have done something...
Lol on
Dw loaded and on

Emptied under stairs shoes holder...shoes where living on the floor instead.

Took 2 bags and bag of shoes to recycling.
Took armful of cardboard to recycling.

Now have put all muddy wellies in a huge clear plastic bag and put into big step under the stairs.
Hallway looks better now recycling junk has gone.

Sitting down for a bit. Mind abit woolly again.

halfhope · 21/05/2021 13:33

Dancing is right about the water sing - husband found water stopped/helped the headache.

Hi sorry I got caught up with things.

Sing I have the middle one of first three...Haw..... and middle of second three Peace Lily they are easy to look after but that seems expensive. M&S have them for less I think. Spider plants are very easy too and you can often get them at school sales they grow quite quickly. I have DDs and a few more. I have repotted them all this spring into a large pot with house plant compost. Light and water and a feed during summer.
Huge list!

Zoo I hope he gave you a lift he is so selfish as he lets you walk an hour and a half each way.

That great start. Sometimes the starting is the hardest bit.

Redsquirrel5 · 21/05/2021 15:14

So we have been out to buy some plants for the greenhouse ( and a few sneaked in for the garden too) and because of the delay planting seeds we have bought some young plants. Tomatoes, peas, French beans, an aubergine, a pepper, some seed potatoes for 1st crop and some maincrop too. Broad beans which we normally grow and about 8 Strawberry plants. Potted some up and some will go out into the raised bed.

I haven’t done much in the house as we have been out shopping or in the garden. I have decluttering some RBC though and hope to continue at the weekend. Have two baskets for the charity shops.

Dancingtomusic · 21/05/2021 19:08

Red- your plant shopping sounds dreamy to me! I cant grow a thing but I would love too.

I have decluttered kitchen as much as i can.
Shined my sink!

Put some things away. Kitchen dining room lots abit better.
Lots more to do.
Sofa of doom has stuff spilled onto floor.

Definately pms helping me do this cleaning kick...

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/05/2021 21:18

Thank fuck it is Friday!!!!

The troublesome one is performance choring. It is exhausting. I have offered a gold star but the are a little old so might require super glue. Apparently this was deemed passable. no idea. I thought everyone liked a sticker?

God help anyone that pisses me off this weekend. There is a work situation that keeps rumbling on... It is tedious and annoying and going to require out of work brain power. And. I. don't. want. to! It has already had 3 hours of my friday evening...

But the people have been fed. I am about to grab a bath and then i think there is a nice glass of rum with my name on it... Although tbh i think tonight i would rather a nice glass of whiskey. But not got any of that and tbh may well be too lazy to wonder downstairs to grab the rum. Everything I need now is upstairs so essentially i can hermit and the people can look after themselves.

halfhope · 21/05/2021 21:49

Got through today - Friday officially ending!

Has anyone got a shark hand vac? They look fun. Who am i? 🦈

SingToTheSky · 21/05/2021 22:24

ta da
💉booked dancing for DD1
💉ordered tesco
💉helped DS prepare some templates for Scouts activity
💉updated both work coaches
💉bath/stories/bed with Cagletini
💉bit of tidying in bathroom while Cagletini in bath (whatever I could grab while sitting next to the bath - neither standing up nor bending down to pick stuff up is my fave activity right now)
💉put DS’ bleached t-shirt (scouts activity) on to wash

Most of the day I was in bed.

Hoping to feel better tomorrow to meet friend for breakfast at the local. Then with any luck I can do more tidying. Going to attempt an early night now.

Zoo I know DS likes cacti, has he ever tried growing succulents from the kits you can get? I’m tempted.
