Welcome fledglings to May’s Flylady thread – many, many thanks to ED for her expert guidance through April 2021.

All are welcome and especially Newbies. Don’t be shy in making yourselves known because we are a friendly bunch.
We follow Flylady’s system for house and sanity maintenance which is based around 5 room zones spread over the month. There is a weekly quick home clean in the midst of more thorough zone cleaning. I am an aging fledgling who really should be more proactive about following the plan but to be frank I enjoy the natter and good company more than I enjoy cleaning. Every day I will be checking in and giving the ‘flight plan’ for the day with links to the Flylady site. You can join Flylady on her site for email updates but she does like to send a lot out, just so you know!
The most importantist thing to know is that you are NEVER behind – just do what you can when you can. Many of us post ta da lists as we cross items off our [never-ending] to do lists.
You may find the following acronyms along the way (adapted below from ED’s useful list from April)
LOL = load of laundry
S&S = swish and swipe, a quick daily clean of the toilet and sink
PO3 = power of 3. When motivation is on the low side or you’re overwhelmed just pick 3 things at a time and do them
DNLMS = did not lose my shit
Ned = our mythical mate who helps with the laundry
Pointy stick —-> = for when a fledgling needs a motivational prod
The naughty corner = a relaxing haven where we hang out when motivation is low or when life becomes overwhelming. Usually enticing food is left there with squishy cushions.
KCC – (Keep calm corner) these are little stories, photos, memes, off-topic questions, just to keep us all distracted from the general tedium of lockdown life. Feel free to chip in.

Ah shame about the job Dancing but you did really well to get your CV sorted and an interview. Hope you’re very proud of yourself.

Mc definitely don’t worry about the baby groups. We only went to one basic group and I don’t think DD got anything from it, it was purely the sanity of speaking to other adults that kept me going. They aren’t interested in playing with others at that age. There was lots of snatching toys .

Nursery-wise we had 3 settling in sessions I think, and had a few tears but nothing too bad. DD was slightly younger (9-10 months). It was amazing how quickly we all fell into the routine. It worked out well for us as I hadn’t realised I had to use up a proportion of my accrued annual leave quickly, so had planned for settling in sessions for my return to work date, but actually had an extra few weeks off so I had some time to myself(!) plus DD was able to do slightly shorter days and we stretched out the settling in a bit more.

Zoo and Sing you’ve put me to shame with your fab lists. You’ve both motivated me to do some organising though I’m sure it’ll pass

No ta Das to report here. DH seems to have been replaced by an imposter as he’s been keeping the house really tidy while I’ve been at work! DD has got wind from a nursery friend that soft play is open so we have a slot booked there. They do quite nice food though so there’s a silver lining. Should really get dressed...

Morning! Feeling less achy today and DH has declared this a Day Of Getting Things Done, so I'm dressed and eating Healthful Breakfast prior to going back up a ladder.

I woke up feeling a lot better this morning so continued with the bathroom clean. Had a lovely breakfast with my friend - sat talking for 3 hours - then carried on a bit after but I’m achy again now so trying to rest instead of doing all the things I can see really need doing 🧐

It’s terribly apparent right now that despite a lot of progress over the last year, my house still has way too much clutter and is really disorganised

I have paused for a cake break and can report:
❤️ Clean washing taken upstairs and upended on our bed. Twice.
🧡 Hot wash as WM was whingeing for it, now LOL of shirts etc
💛 DW rotated
💚 Bathroom stuff all emptied out of DS1's room and either put away or disposed of
💙 DS1's room hoovered
💜 Old Trofast from bathroom upended onto trofast in DS1's room to create quick-and-dirty 4x3 box shelves
🤎 All my work stuff moved out of the living room to DS1's room
🖤 All tip stuff put into car
❤️ All extra tiles etc put in garage or car to go back to DIY shop
🧡 My lovely escritoire put into garage as it cannot function as a desk 😢, it's too warped
💛 DH's magic tangle of cables in the living room sorted and tidied
💚 Downstairs cloakroom unclogged, cleaned to within an inch of its life and re-opened for use
💙 Bookshelf removed from living room to temporary point under stairs
💜 DH dispatched to tip and DIY shops

I have had a slice if orange cake and am about to have some more painkillers and finish the wallpapering before tea. DH assures me he will be hoovering the living room and moving furniture round when he gets back. We shall see.

My head is much better Willow. I've sorted my closet but not done the ensuite. Tomorrow is a new zone

Well,any chance peace this afternoon shattered by very irritable lil zoo who only slept couple hours at DD house.snapping and snarling at all I escape for z slow walk in the rain over nature reserve with dd2 before I lost my temper(patience isn't great at mo as so tired)

Aw don’t apologise mrs it sounds like a really rough week. Just getting by is ok. Febreze and TD is a clever trick! I know what you mean about these special days etc - just feels like more demands sometimes and in a stressful time it is one of those things that tips me over into overwhelm.

I’ve done some more tidying and cleaning. Now slobbing on the sofa in front of Eurovision but not really paying attention. Need to vacuum still although only a quick once over round the table as we will do it properly tomorrow morning.

mrstidy not to worry at all - just do the barest. Do you have one going to secondary? My ds is nervous about moving up in August.

Sorry, I have missed lots of chat, I will read back through later. Currently in bed with a cat and a blanket that I'm trying to crochet, while DH and DD watch Eurovision downstairs (I can't bear it and have threatened to tear up the tv licence if we win).
