Fledglings are Flying into April, there's no fooling us.......

Welcome fledglings old and new, to April's Flylady thread!

For any newbies who have stumbled across us, we are following Flylady’s housework system which is based around routines and short bursts of activity to try to keep our houses and lives in order. (Sometimes we follow it more loosely than others). Feel free to join us, the more the merrier! We post our ‘ta da’ lists for motivation (no matter how long or short), and enjoy some random chatter along the way.

The link to Flylady’s ‘flying lessons’ is here Flying Lessons. Have a read, and if you have any questions, just ask. You can sign up for emails but be warned there are lots so most of us rapidly unsubscribed.

I’ll be posting links daily to keep us all on track. Jump in wherever you are, remember you are never behind.

This is a long running thread and we’ve developed some lingo along the way:
LOL = load of laundry
S&S = swish and swipe, a quick daily clean of the toilet and sink
PO3 = power of 3. When motivation is on the low side or you’re overwhelmed just pick 3 things at a time and do them
DNLMS = did not lose my shit
Ned = our mythical mate who helps with the laundry (hasn’t paid a visit to me for a while)
Pointy stick —-> = for when a fledgling needs a motivational prod (we can be gentle if required)
The naughty corner = a relaxing haven where we hang out when motivation is low, we are on strike, or we need a rest and some TLC

KCC - we don't do so many of these now, but these are little stories, photos, memes, off-topic questions, just to keep us all distracted from the general tedium of lockdown life. Feel free to chip in.

Thanks to Up for guiding us gently through March Flowers.

And off we go into April.

I love reading about lovely family time everyone is having 😊
Sing glad the talk went well, and you enjoyed fun time with Caglets.
ED impressed with your running.
Ships day in the garden sounds fab! I hope your hay-fever gets better.
That that would be another shovel from me..
Waders cake looks gorgeous! And all the other cooking sounds delicious.
Zoo I am glad you got some sleep. Your list is impressive as always.

Not much flying here at all.
I stripped/remade the beds, and DH was in charge of food and cleaning the counters/rotating DW.

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/04/2021 22:12

that I feel at this stage in pregnancy and with SPD in previous you need a hit (wo)man/friendly helper armed with shovel

Waders I've never had simnel cake,is it really basically Xmas cake with marzipan added into it?.🤣at drivel cake!

I got a lovely hot shower
Defrosted legs
Face scrub(used on flaky hands to)
Deep conditioned my hair

All after another hour walk with dd2 who was highly anxious..hoping as weather takes a turn and gets colder again she's not as keen to tramp over fields too much!!it was nice in the sunshine tho
Washed my sofa blankies and they're tumble drier warm and fresh
Dd2 presented me pile she "needs for tomorrow as going out for a walk with dad"
They're about to go in the drier....

Morning

MrsTidyHouse · 05/04/2021 06:57

Thank you. I think Friday was a blip combined with exhaustion and excitement.

I managed some garden tidy yesterday listening to early morning service before it became too cold to stay out any longer. Had my first online retail therapy with DS on the phone guiding me through the process. It was quite exciting!

Considering having a designated Room of Doom, so that the many messy corners can be cleared into one place. Trying to decide between the back room which gets no sun and already has all the bagged up clothes for donation, and the front room which has non-clothes clutter and should look lovely, except there's a stonking great hole in the ceiling. It gets full sun all day long. Think I'll move the stuff into the back room. That way, it's easier to move into the shed/garage/car/bin when the time comes.

This holiday, I'm focussing on getting more of DS's stuff round to his flat. Emailing him photos of what he's left behind, as neither of us can remember what he decided a year ago despite all my boxing and labelling over the summer.

We were forecast cloud/rain/sleet this morning, instead the sun is shining brightly and although it's only 7° its really warm in the sunshine. Very chilly in the shade though.

Morning (most likely afternoon by the time I’ve wrote this) it’s freezing here!. I’ve put the fire on and I don’t normally do that, we had a sprinkling of snow this morning, DD loved it!. DH has taken DD out for the day, and I’ve got DS at home. I’m hoping to spend this day having a bit of a spring clean and planning activities for the next few months as things are opening up now. I’m hoping to book some swimming places, DS has never been and I want to get him used to water.

sing yep, we have a Wendy house and a shed on our mooring that’s just ours, but we’re very lucky to have that. I’m glad your chat about screen time went well!.

waders that cake looks amazing!!

mc thank you! I feel much better today😊

zoo I’m glad you managed to do some pampering!

dancing I’m glad your Easter was lovely! I sang it at school, but forgot about it until you mentioned it! I’ve had a google but can’t find the name!

tidy I hope you manage to find a room of doom!

Mc3209 · 05/04/2021 15:11

Snow in April. How depressing.

Ta das:
💥Dusted
💥Antibac surfaces in living room, hallway, and stairs
💥LOLx2
💥Hoovered downstairs

Little one fell asleep on a boob.. Waiting for him to finish his business, then will go have lunch myself.

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/04/2021 16:10

Our blizzard broke into brilliant sunshine.nice if you can find a sheltered sunny spot.artic if the wind can get at you!!

Bedrooms very lightly glided over
Lay on sofa for a bit pm between more laundry loads...

SingToTheSky · 05/04/2021 16:17

We had a brief flurry here. Dug out some outgrown books and had a nice doorstep chat with a friend who collected them (and brought one of those big colour in play house thingies they didn’t need!). Have written a to do list for the week because despite having done a whole load of admin stuff recently I seem to have ended up with even more?! Aaaaall the forms

EventuallyDistracted · 05/04/2021 19:19

Well, I forgot to post links this morning, apologies for that, Bank Holiday means out of routine.

Anyway, this week's zone is the kitchen and today we were supposed to get the cobwebs and dust bunnies from the ops pf cupboards etc. I did not do that.

The morning sunshine turned into a dull lunchtime with a couple of snow flurries but it then came out sunny (and chilly again), we went for a family walk round RHS Wisley, which was nice, lots of blossom and daffodils.

I think today's Star of the day for Flying goes to Zoo for a humungous list.

Doorstep chats are lovely Sing - I have indulged in quite a lot of those this last year.

Ships - good idea to start swimming, it's great for little ones (not quite so great once they are a teenage club swimmer with 6am training, but still).

MrsT - not remembering things decided a year ago is quite a familiar situation to many of us I think. I think I'd go with back room for RofD too.

Well, tada!

A short list from me.
Very short

Lovely 💕 to catch up on everyone’s news and Easter celebrations 🐥🐰

Bbbbrrr! Very cold here but lulled into a false sense of security by the brilliantly sunny day and summer blue sky! Sis sent DH a photo of Oz blue sky so he sent one back!

Celebrations have changed but we always did an Easter hunt and Easter bunny left an egg. Our family never exchanged eggs to anyone else so just family eggs.

Church services: I always go to Mass on Thursday evening (much shorter service), Friday afternoon at 3pm( shorter service), usually go on a Witness Walk of about four/ five miles and prayers said at a ✝️ and then the bus takes us back unless you are desperate to walk.
Easter Sunday service at 11 and Father gives eggs to everyone. Usually we have tea, coffee and hot cross buns.

Back later tea out.

shipsandgiggles · 05/04/2021 21:01

Hiya had a super busy day today, gave the boat a big clean inside and out. I also managed to get a few bits of work done for my course. I’ve also meal planned for the next week and sent DH out to get what we needed.

I love when they fall asleep on the boob mc, DD was nursing yesterday and we both ended up falling asleep😂.

I love doorstep chats sing, we’ve had a few lately with people walking along the towpath!

ED your walk sounds lovely! I’ve had a look but most of the swimming lessons are all booked, so I might just take him swimming first to get used to it and then when the lessons are free again get some. DD loved swimming before everything shut down and I do want to make sure they’re strong swimming when living on a boat😂

red lovely to hear about your Easter traditions! I wish we had more but we aren’t big Easter celebrators!
