Welcome fledglings old and new, to April's Flylady thread!

For any newbies who have stumbled across us, we are following Flylady’s housework system which is based around routines and short bursts of activity to try to keep our houses and lives in order. (Sometimes we follow it more loosely than others). Feel free to join us, the more the merrier! We post our ‘ta da’ lists for motivation (no matter how long or short), and enjoy some random chatter along the way.

The link to Flylady’s ‘flying lessons’ is here Flying Lessons. Have a read, and if you have any questions, just ask. You can sign up for emails but be warned there are lots so most of us rapidly unsubscribed.

I’ll be posting links daily to keep us all on track. Jump in wherever you are, remember you are never behind.

This is a long running thread and we’ve developed some lingo along the way:
LOL = load of laundry
S&S = swish and swipe, a quick daily clean of the toilet and sink
PO3 = power of 3. When motivation is on the low side or you’re overwhelmed just pick 3 things at a time and do them
DNLMS = did not lose my shit
Ned = our mythical mate who helps with the laundry (hasn’t paid a visit to me for a while)
Pointy stick —-> = for when a fledgling needs a motivational prod (we can be gentle if required)
The naughty corner = a relaxing haven where we hang out when motivation is low, we are on strike, or we need a rest and some TLC

KCC - we don't do so many of these now, but these are little stories, photos, memes, off-topic questions, just to keep us all distracted from the general tedium of lockdown life. Feel free to chip in.

Thanks to Up for guiding us gently through March Flowers.

And off we go into April.

Hazel sending calming thoughts - I hate being at the mercy of other people doing as they should too.

Sing one of mine was always sick with a mucosy cough too can't currently remember who glad she's feeling better.

ED thanks for piloting us safely through April while everything opens up again. Well done to your DS on his exam, hope his success bolsters his self-belief a bit.

Dancing hope the distraction works. Is the new Emma any good? I have a real problem with Miranda Hart (I just don't find her funny, her type of comedy makes me want to turn myself inside out) and I'm afraid she'll spoil it for me as Miss Bates.

Ta da:
❤️ Walked into town for birthday cake and a balloon, accidentally fell into the bookshop and bought myself a new book
🧡 Made a birthday table for Mum outside
💛 Birthday coffee and cake and cheese and crackers. I think Mum really enjoyed it.
💚 The electrician put our two new bathroom lights in
💙 DD did her last exam
💜 Made a decision on bathroom window coverings with DH (Roman blinds - slate grey fir our bathroom, creamy-oatmealish for the family bathroom)
🤎 Decided my day was my own and sat down for a bit
🖤 Made spicy chicken with pittas and salad veg and tzatziki for tea
❤️ Had a couple of lovely glasses of fizz
🧡 Now listening to DH explaining again to FIL that the Lido are not being personally vindictive by applying lockdown rules and requiring people to book, turn up, swim, go home. And no, he can't just turn up and wander about socialising like it's his own personal gentleman's club.

Oh god, we've reached "you can't argue with a virus, Dad".

I think I'll have another drink. Happy Bank Holiday!

foxes and mc sorry for my crossed post earlier!

Waders and Sing - I have been watching old version of Emma that had Gywnith paltro (sp?) I dont actually like it....but the landscapes are beautiful in it.

I really, really love Sense and Sensibility starring Emma Thompson (she wrote screen play) and played the part of Elinor Dashwood, beautifully! Such superb humble and graceful depiction of Elinor- sublime. Love Alan Rickman. All the Dashwood family! Landscapes oh!
The Director - Ang lee created a visual masterpiece with little hints and quirks of them living and breathing characters. Or small objects in the scene that they have a wash or do help prepare a meal or feel cold! Sorry, I have escaped into a happy place, a book/movie.
I love the end wedding scene, the children dancing down the streets with sticks wrapped in colourful ribbons - do you think that is how they would have been? It reminded me of the beautiful maypoles with all the lovely ribbons.

I have missed the new Emma. I dont know if it could live up to Sense and Sensibility. I will have a look tomorrow and see.

Hiya, I hope you’re all doing well. We had a chippy dinner tonight at my DMs. My anxiety’s been quite bad today, so DH and I are settling down to watch some tv. We’re going swimming tomorrow, and hopefully to a farm on Sunday. I think a couple of our friends might be visiting this weekend too, so quite a packed few days. The anxiety has messed up my stomach so I think I’ll probably be off to bed soon.

ED we love it here, it’s so interesting!. Well done your DS!! And I’m glad your DD is liking her new hair!

Well done on getting so much packed hazel, you sound very busy!

Aww poor Cagletini sing! I hope she feels a bit better soon!.

waders DD loves the mud too bless her😂, my step dad grows lots of fruit and veg and she loves helping out and getting mucky at his allotment. Happy birthday to your DM!!

foxes I hope you enjoyed your day off!

Good luck with the call dancing, it’s good you have a few days to prepare!!

Good list mc! I love a film day, I definitely think they’re needed quite a lot!. Aww bless him! DD had lovely fluffy hair as a baby, she resembled a chicken too😂

Brilliant list zoo!!

Happy belated birthday to your DD up!

Minimal flying today! Too tired and anxious. DH can do some tomorrow.

Also thought I’d post some pics of the DC’s room, so we have 2 bunks with storage underneath and then the rest of the cabin is storage and a desk space. I must say DH was very clever when he designed it.

That’s really clever furniture round! Sorry your anxiety has been bad 💐

I’ve had quite a good day really - some nice calm activities with Cagletini, managed to get DS doing some home ed despite the messed up day (and he really surprised me with his English work), and kept up with housework.

Do not under any circumstance go anywhere near ikea this weekend. Carpark was so fucking bonkers, I got parked and changed my mind and left. No way there could have been social distancing going on inside. Fucking madness. Complete and utter!

Dancingtomusic · 01/05/2021 01:17

Hills- i definately wont go there, oh no thats silly. Danm i might need a large kids desk.
Thats annoying that you had to drive away. I would have too if I saw too many people.

Round- i love the design of the bunkbed and the storage underneath it! I esp love, love the steps to get up! No wonder your little girl loves to sleep up there!
Sorry to hear you are feeling anxious. Hope your stomach settles soon. The swimming and farm sounds like a lovely idea! I must check if farms are open near us! My kids have missed it so much.

Dancingtomusic · 01/05/2021 01:26

Waders- happy birthday to your Dm. It sounds lovely you did a birthday table outside with fizz. The chicken, pitta and tzatziki sounds yum.

'accidentally fell into the bookshop and bought myself a new book.' - i love this! As I also enjoy a good book and think its a wonderful treat to get one! Does the bookshop have chairs to sit on while looking at books to buy?

Dancingtomusic · 01/05/2021 01:43

Mc- your dinner sounds lovely! How did you make it?

Up-
💖🍰🎂Happy Birthday to your Dd!🎂🍰💝 I hope she had a wonderful day.

Foxes- pick up time comes around soo fast! How are you feeling about your new work hours? I hope you get a chance to bake cake this weekend!

Hazel- Goodluck with all the packing and hope they get the report out soon. It must be so fustrating!

Red- if you dont want to go, can I take your place please? 😊

Ed- thank you for the lovely thread leading of April. I loved the funny title.
