February Flying for Fledglings, No More CHAOS here

ExpletiveDelighted · 30/01/2020 17:14

Welcome to February! This is a friendly ongoing thread where we follow (n some cases, very loosely) the Flylady method for sorting out our homes and lives!

Newbies are always welcome here! It’s a long running thread so please don’t worry if we appear cliquey. There’s a lot of chatter and support for all sorts of things, alongside the housework stuff.

Every day I will post a link to the Flylady launch pad, which is where you can access the information for that day - babysteps, missions, daily focus etc. But if you’re confused about anything, please ask!

Check out the website too - but we suggest not signing up for the millions of emails.

The great thing about Flylady is that you jump in where you are. Everything you do is progress. Don’t worry about not “keeping up”. Any achievement, however small, means progress.

More info to follow.

Great list We3kings! Enjoy your evening!

And that's fantastic about your dd1 Toostressy bravo to her!!! 🏆. Hope she feels better soon!

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 01/02/2020 14:57

Well done to your daughter toostressy.

I love a fish finger sandwich.

LaneBoy · 01/02/2020 16:07

Ooh yes I want to know how the fish went too. I had salmon at the pub yesterday, it wasn’t great but I’ve been craving hollandaise since foxes mentioned it! And we hardly ever have fish at home.

I really want to start cooking more of what I want to eat, especially for lunch when the Caglets sort themselves out anyway. Why should I miss out on stuff just because they’re fussy.

I do love a fish finger sandwich too! Why do I always think of it when I have no lettuce. Seeded bread, mayo on one slice ketchup on the other, lettuce and cucumber.

So great about ballet exam stressy congratulations to your DD! ⭐️

Achieved nothing today. Wasn’t asleep until gone 4 although I did sleep till after 9. Feeling sick and headachey again. (No, definitely no more thread babies from me so don’t go suggesting that as a cause! :o)

Need to somehow find the energy to help DD with homework later as she’s dancing all morning tomorrow (nothing exciting this time stressy just once a month workshops in various disciplines working towards the show in April - she does ballet there weekly, but the workshops are urban (DS does this too), contemporary, jazz and Classical Greek!). Sundays are tricky - DH takes his osteo tablet then and it makes him feel sick all day, and into Monday. We really need to start trying to get more organised for the week ahead, before Sunday evening arrives.

I love writing at night too sc - last night I was journaling for a ridiculously long time, and it included a summary of January and my hopes for February - think I might do that every month. It was quite nice that even though I’ve been really low the last couple of weeks, I could see we have achieved some big changes.

Well, shit. While I was writing the above, Cagletini woke up from her nap in the buggy and promptly threw up everywhere. Marvellous.

Jobs for the afternoon:
Email therapist to cancel the session I only booked the other day
Try not to panic about being sick 😳

Bowerbird5 · 01/02/2020 17:17

That should reach🤗

BF DH Yes. Liked the lemon sole, plaice, bass and bream. Doesn’t like prawns. Enjoyed the meze and BF absolutely loved it. I said to her we should do it more often. When DH was away I used to go up to hers on a Sunday when all the family was there and I am missing seeing the kids.
I said to DH we should have them more often. It was easy because we bought a lot of the stuff from M&S. It wasn’t that expensive because we got loads of bargains as of course fish needs a quick turn over. The meze things were half price and there is enough left for tonight for DH and I. I was relaxed because I wasn’t worrying about the cooking. Just popped them in the Everhot and had two ovens on so plenty of room. DH treated us to a bottle of Barola as it was £15 instead of £25 we soon polished that off.
Well the boudoir doesn’t look all that tidy but the drawers are tidy. Still need to find places for the other stuff.

Bowerbird5 · 01/02/2020 17:23

Oh no. Perhaps that is why you are feeling sick and headachy.

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 01/02/2020 18:01

Hope your DD is feeling better soon lane.

Well we decided not to go out. Going to stay in start a new series on Netflix, have a takeaway and enjoy the peace and quiet instead.

LaneBoy · 01/02/2020 18:16

She just puked again sigh

I haven’t completed my objective of not panicking yet.

What series are you going to watch? I just finished Sex Education this morning - cried a lot as well as laughed!!! Got a couple of things to finish on All4 from last year (the accident and the virtues) next.

Lovely about the fish dinner. Yes I’m wondering if I have the bug too but I’ve had sicky headaches for a few weeks so I’m not sure. In which case I could still catch it.

Really worrying about having to miss the courses on Tuesday/Wednesday too - I won’t get a telling off or anything but I hate missing things like that, it really puts me on the back foot (is that the right phrase?!). Although the parenting course people said they can visit and help people catch up if necessary.

Aaaaaaaargh. Off to run a bath for the toddler. She hates baths.

TooStressyTooMessy · 01/02/2020 19:00

Oh no, hope for no more sick Lane. Thanks for dance info Grin.

Great news on fish meal Bower Smile.

I absolutely love telly, especially after kids I love having that way to escape by watching something amazing. Also since I have less time to watch telly I really appreciate it now rather then just feeling I am wasting time doing it.

Currently watching a variety of things...

Love Jed Mercurio so rewatching Bodies on iPlayer (spellbindingly good but wouldn’t recommend unless you like your medical dramas very dark).
Spinning Out on Netflix (current favourite show - love dance / skating / gymnastics shows as can live vicariously through them Grin).
Next on list is Better Things.
Then possibly some of er as All4 is showing it.
Have also found a new show on CBBC called Perfect Landings - love a good kids’ show Grin.
Also debating rewatching some of Buffy
Want to watch His Dark Materials on BBC
If I ever watch all of that I might watch the Expanse as have seen a few episodes then stopped.

You all perhaps had no interest in that but thought I’d share!

Had best stop rambling now!

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 01/02/2020 19:05

A few people have recommended sex education it's on my watch list. We've gone with the stranger. It's only 8 episodes so going to try and stay up to watch them all.

TooStressyTooMessy · 01/02/2020 19:05

Ooooh I also want to watch The Stranger! Is it by the same person who did Safe?

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/02/2020 19:10

Poor cagletini.hopw she feels better soon lane joys nursery I expect!on positive from fret perspective a little one be I'll may be something you have had exposure to and have immunity

Antibiotics- can't remember who on what?!clarithrmycin is a bugger for nausea and disgusting tastes in mouthdrink plenty water, chew gum if you get the taste and eat something small and bland, even a rich tea biscuit, every two hours.ALL ANTIBIOTICS SHOULD BE ACCOMPANY BY A ROUTINE DAILY BIO NATURAL YOGURT.no one wants/needs thrush adding into the mix,and the yogurt helps rebuild gut bacteria destroyed by anti bs
SC crap times.sendung huge hugs.im not getting political, but some things just shouldn't happen....
Stressy hope poorly bunny better soon,Starfor super stressy mini dancer

Started day IBS,followed by drag self to D's first volunteer session at nature reserve.he loved planting Poppy seeds, did little weeding and then had whale of a time re chipping (replacing mulching wood chips with fresh batch raked over the top)the little paths off the community barn space.a small team(4)the Scottish lady who took us under her wing was very chatty and really good with him giving simple instruction, showing him clearly and giving loads praise!meet again Sunday 16th when hoping plant some trees to create a mini orchard!
Despite feeling bit ropey/tired as had very little sleep with back/bowel pain I agreed to go on dummy run trip to school we hoping to name on D's EHCP.its just over an hour away, and rev is taking us Monday afternoon it's a huge ask for him.and I get anxious travelling too so I wanted to at least feel we were prepared as possible.weather was glorious and the countryside to reach it was extra beautiful, stunning almost valleys of the patchwork countryside on both sides of the road.few freshly ploughed adding the comforting smell fresh dug earthwe passed a castle and the school was a stately home in its previous life with sweeping driveway at front and acres countryside behind incl it's own carp lake,as show in brochure.we only date sneak thru open gates to curve in driveway to see front of school
Grab late lunch/early tea ingredients on way home from local shopsI had bit toast ,a banana and few plain crisps
Done one load wash
Need sort two loads towels and mountain other wash piles at some point next few days...

THAT90sBITCH · 01/02/2020 19:16

I have been rewatching Waterloo Road. It is amusing me greatly seeing current tv actors like 10 years ago! Most recent - Tim from Corrie WITH HAIR!

LaneBoy · 01/02/2020 19:38

Yes that’s the one, I watched Safe last year and the stranger I think will be first up when I’ve finished the other two things (2 episodes each)

I love Netflix etc, but until recently had basically stopped trying to watch anything for a few months, as I couldn’t focus in the evenings. Same with reading. Trying to get back into the habit now.

She’s thrown up 5 times now 😭😭😭 she’s just dozing off on me (I’m feeding her - don’t normally in the day but even if she doesn’t keep it down apparently it’s absorbed so quickly that it will at least give her something)

TooStressyTooMessy · 01/02/2020 19:43

Oh no! Good luck tonight Lane Flowers

LaneBoy · 01/02/2020 21:27

Thanks. DH and I are setting up camp downstairs I think. Going to be a long night! Hoping the others don’t catch it.

I just realised two other things I want to watch - dead water fell (David tennant) and that White farm thingy on itv. I love short drama/crime series like that generally.

Also realised DH and I never finished the alienist which was one of the first things we watched on Netflix when we got it a year ago! Oops.

TooStressyTooMessy · 01/02/2020 21:36

Oooh I also want to watch Deadwater Fell. Needless to say I never manage to watch everything on my watchlist!

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 01/02/2020 22:27

Ooh yeh dead water fell looks good.

I've been watching the White House farm that's good too.

LaneBoy · 01/02/2020 22:35

Poor baby is really rough.

My issue is I have loads of things on my list but when I get a chance to watch something I just put on friends/BBT etc for the millionth time as then I can faff about on my phone Hmm

Really want to use that less and actually focus on watching something new!

TooStressyTooMessy · 01/02/2020 22:43

I never seem to feel I ‘deserve’ to just sit and properly watch telly. As there is always stuff I should be doing. Not sure if that makes sense? Like tonight. Was done by 10 and I like to go to bed at 11. So I was going to sit any watch Spinning Out for one glorious hour. But then I thought ‘I have all these Brownie badges to sew on, I should do that’. So I put something still good but not as good and sewed for half an hour instead in front of that. So I have been productive and still semi relaxing (I fully appreciate I could be sat with a puking toddler - poor thing Lane- but actually I really dislike sewing so it was at cost to my own relaxation.

No idea if that makes sense to anyone else or not Grin?

ExpletiveDelighted · 01/02/2020 22:59

Poor baby, hope she makes a speedy recovery Lane.

Stressy - I struggle to watch telly at all, partly because like you I always feel like I should be doing something else and partly because now the DCs are older they stay up as late as I do, we have made a family policy of not making them go to their rooms after a certain time like some of our friends do as we like everyone being around but it means a lot of compromise and distraction around TV watching. I've been watching White House Farm though and got sucked into all sorts of podcasts and reading about it through the MN thread. I'm old enough to remember it all being in the news quite clearly. Managed to watch ep3 earlier with DH and DS quizzing me.

Zoo - the school sounds lovely, hope the visit on Monday goes well.

So Tada!
Washing done
Bit of tidying
Swish and swipe
Took DS and friend to big town, met a friend for coffee then brought DS and friend back. Whatsapp chat with another friend who has had a very difficult few days.
An hour at the allotment
My parents came over for an hour
Dinner
Did a house insurance quote - hate these, so many questions, makes me worry I'll get it all wrong and invalidate insurance.
Slump on sofa, watched TV, crochet, FB. Worry. I've managed to keep on top of anxiety this winter so far but a few things have thrown me a bit this week (several friends having serious illnesses/bereavements to contend with).

ChicCroissant · 01/02/2020 23:08

Seems to be a bug going around the thread, hope all affected improve very soon Flowers

I've only got one more antibiotic to take, it's a 3 day course. But I should get myself some Yakult or similar, zoo is right about the effects of the antibiotics.

Hope the child-free time went well, Willow Grin Congrats on the merit for your DD Stressy, she's done really well!

LaneBoy · 02/02/2020 05:46

Ah I’m glad the Abx are nearly done chic I’m lucky I have never had thrush from them as I’ve had to have them quite often since the ME first kicked off in 2012.

I am channeling that and sitting up watching bacon face :o Cagletini dozed off so early yesterday that she’s now wide awake, despite waking up several times to be a bit sick overnight.

Haven’t heard anything from the big two so assuming they’re ok so far - they’re able to deal with the practical side themselves but they would definitely seek us out for reassurance if they were feeling sick.

Very few plans for the day.

LaneBoy · 02/02/2020 05:52

Expletive sorry about the anxiety. Your friends are lucky to have you Thanks but please look after yourself.

And yes total sense stressy I feel like any sort of relaxation time really needs to be properly carved out. Trying to get better at doing that while also using said time as an incentive to actually get shit done first. I don’t find this as simple as you might think Hmm

Stilllivinginazoo · 02/02/2020 06:17

lane I was taught at breast feeding group training if older bf child wants fed when poorly run with it as you are in close proximity anytjing you are exposed to will bring any immunity you have into the milk
Hope she's broken the back of it now and it's something everyone else has already had and won't be effected by

EDplease pace yourself, winter affects so many with combo darker days and illness it's important make sure you are caring for yourself enough.i ramp up this time of year with anxiety/depression if I'm not very mindful the abyss beckonsFlowersI'm lay here listening to the birds and that cheers me as it reminds me spring and lighter mornings aren't far away now

LaneBoy · 02/02/2020 06:27

Indeed zoo I’m glad I’ve not stopped yet as it made it so much easier as well.

She’s not thrown up for maybe 2 hours now so hoping she’s through the worst

(Sorry for the running commentary BTW! I’m not trying to be James Joyce :o but it makes me super anxious and that makes me chatty Blush)
