February Flying for Fledglings, No More CHAOS here

ExpletiveDelighted · 30/01/2020 17:14

Welcome to February! This is a friendly ongoing thread where we follow (n some cases, very loosely) the Flylady method for sorting out our homes and lives!

Newbies are always welcome here! It’s a long running thread so please don’t worry if we appear cliquey. There’s a lot of chatter and support for all sorts of things, alongside the housework stuff.

Every day I will post a link to the Flylady launch pad, which is where you can access the information for that day - babysteps, missions, daily focus etc. But if you’re confused about anything, please ask!

Check out the website too - but we suggest not signing up for the millions of emails.

The great thing about Flylady is that you jump in where you are. Everything you do is progress. Don’t worry about not “keeping up”. Any achievement, however small, means progress.

More info to follow.

Lane, our clean laundry piles are so bad that I have temporarily suspended washing anymore stuff until I have put some away tonight Grin.

Have had a day where I feel I achieved hardly anything. Objectively I know I did but it was all pretty invisible iyswim?

Ta da:-
Bare minimum home bleugh - did the best I could with time available
Saw vets to discuss treatment plan for cat - she is fine and all very reassuring and standard stuff (she has an overactive thyroid) but he wanted to talk me through the options

Mortgage due to renewal soon so had to hunt out paperwork and make enquires

Sorted out kids’ activities

Sewed one Brownie badge (had hoped to do three).

Did as much as I could to deal with a work issue.

So I did get stuff done and lots of it was important and an absolutely sensible use of time.

However, tea was a terrible frozen pizza and I still have laundry everywhere and I have no decluttering done today and not prepped anything for tomorrow.

But I have Prosecco Grin.

Don’t want to be unnecessarily political but WineBrewGin for anyone finding today a difficult day. SC Flowers.

TooStressyTooMessy · 31/01/2020 21:38

Lane, I am a total dance mum (I try to keep it in check IRL) and love hearing about others having busy dancing weekends Smile.

THAT90sBITCH · 31/01/2020 21:55

I have washed EIGHT loads of laundry today!

Anything clean and dry is put away. In the morning i need to do whites and bedding.

Trying to decide if i should hit the books before bed or am i too tired to absorb anything?

13 days until next essay is due and i need to read 4 chapters plus do relevant activities before i write it!

TooStressyTooMessy · 31/01/2020 22:13

That ShockStar. Could you compromise and do thirty minutes before bed or even fifteen? I have to say I would give up and go to bed.

THAT90sBITCH · 31/01/2020 22:35

I decided on bed. Hopefully get couple of hours before the baby wants feeding!

TooStressyTooMessy · 31/01/2020 22:36

Don’t blame you!

THAT90sBITCH · 31/01/2020 23:13

Obviously dc5 did not get the memo Sad

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 31/01/2020 23:28

Feeling you on the essays that. I have a couple due in soon. I'm sat trying to get one done now but I'm not really getting very far. Might just sack it off for tonight and try again tomorrow.

ChicCroissant · 01/02/2020 00:00

I may have caught up on the washing up for a millisecond, until someone eats. The amount of plastic lunch boxes we are using at the moment seems out of proportion for two people!

Antibiotics are not too bad, I do get a wave of nausea that lasts an hour or two but then it wears off. As it's only a 3 day course, I'm half-way through now.

I'm off to bed now, quite tired for once! Normally I'm a night owl and can lie in bed reading or playing games on my tablet!

Subtractingcalories · 01/02/2020 01:29

Thank you so much Toostressy that means a lot Flowers It has been a very difficult few days. We were with good friends tonight which helped. Hope the treatment plan helps your cat and she starts to feel brighter in herself soon.

Hope your DD is feeling better KTCluck

Hope the abs work Chic

That sounds promising about the school Zoo

Love acrostics Lane!

Good luck with the course work We3kings and That!

It feels quite spring like here this morning. DS has just gone off on his paper round leaving the front door wide open, the cats are toddling in and out, the birds are chirping and the fresh air is nice.

Some good lists yesterday. I started a post on the laptop last night (on phone now) and I guess forgot to press post as it hasn't appeared. I managed a short to do list and then had a self indulgent day of coffee, yoga class and lunch with friends.

Hello! I lost you all! Just marking place, be back later.

KTCluck · 01/02/2020 08:23

That sounds lovely Expletive.

8 loads! Impressive That!

DD is still grumpy this morning but her temperature has gone so hopefully on the mend. However DH is unwell and not keeping quiet about it He’s supposed to be out all day for his birthday but is now unsure whether he’s going or not. I suspect he’ll spend the next 2 hours moping round saying he’s not going and getting under my feet, rather than looking after DD while I do the homeblessing as planned, then decide he’s going anyway, dash to get ready and want an outfit ironed instantly Hmm

No real plans for today which is nice for a change.

Ta Da:
LOL on
DW going. Sink filled and some items washed. Still a few bits to wash (I’m really slacking with the shiny sink at the minute Blush)

To do:
Downstairs dusting, hoovering and floor cleaning
Hoover under sofas and under cushions as per missions
Wipe benches
Clean washing away
Ironing
S & S
Start thinking about packing for work trip away on Wednesday. Two nights in a hotel plus 2 x 4 hours on a train. Alone. Bliss Grin

THAT90sBITCH · 01/02/2020 09:32

Lane thanks regarding not sleeping. When DH was away I used to bake or clean some of the house but I can’t do much as too noisy. I might have had a couple of glasses of wine tonight so hopefully I will sleep.
Had BF and her DH , lovely night. Meze, lots of fish from M&S bargains to tempt non fish eating DH. Lemon tart, berries, cheesecake.

I seem to have written that last night but it didn’t post. I have slept all night from 1am.
Still need to finish boudoir. I did some yesterday but then had to go out.

Tinselette1940 · 01/02/2020 10:42

I'm glad you did get some sleep Bower. Also glad KT's daughter is better. My temp went up slightly yesterday but is down today. I am taking it easy and resting.

Watching Star Trek Deep Space 9 with D's.

Subtractingcalories · 01/02/2020 12:14

Bower Before DD was born (and sometimes afterwards) I used to love cleaning and organising at night. (I quite like writing at night nowadays if I can't sleep.)
I used to love the feeling of quiet and being undisturbed and having total focus and it was great getting up in the morning and pretending that the house fairy had visited Grin. Sadly can't do it anymore as the dogs hear me and think I'm a burglar!

Bowerbird5 · 01/02/2020 12:57

Ha Ha I would like an house elf. Perhaps we could start a new trend SC. Instead of elf on the shelf the rest of the year we could have the House Elf that comes in and does little jobs while the mum isn't looking. It may be away with the awkward teenagers too. Grin
I think there was one in our kitchen last night.I thought DH was still in bed but came down to find incense on, music on and the kitchen all tidy.Dishwasher on and just wiping worktops. He must have enjoyed the night too.

KTC glad you're daughter is a bit better.

Right throwing myself into the B* Boudoir.

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 01/02/2020 13:13

A house elf sounds great! Went to bed early last night to avoid political unpleasantness and feel thoroughly refreshed today for a day out with my friend and a good sleep.

In about an hour, the stars are aligning (probably for the only time this decade) and all the children will be out for 4 hours, simultaneously. I am unreasonably excited and have no idea what to do with myself, although I may spend some of it lying on the study floor whispering "I can't hear anything" in delighted tones.

I am definitely not cleaning!

Waves to Foxes and to everyone else

I have finally got through all of the extra bedding, towels, tea towels, table cloths etc that we used over Christmas and couldn't work out why the laundry room looks so empty ... it turns out that most of our dirty clothes are on the boudoir floor Blush so Bower I am with you in spirit as that is the next task here too ... urgghhh... . I'll get the pointy stick if you promise to administer it at regular intervals Grin

Did your bf's husband like the fish btw? Have you converted him?

TooStressyTooMessy · 01/02/2020 14:08

Hello all Smile. Great to hear of peaceful quiet child free times for people Grin.

DD1 is not feeling well (cold and cough) so quiet day today. She wouldn’t have been able to swim anyway and thought getting her to hang around a pool while I encourage a reluctant DD2 into her lesson would be foolish so we skipped swimming lessons. DD2 went to her dance class as I could pretty much drop and run (DH working today) and now we are back. Both having some screen time and I am doing fish finger sandwiches for lunch. Hoping DH will be back in a bit to help out. Not sure what tea will be, think I might just get some chilli out of the freezer. We have burgers as an option but don’t think DD1 has much of an appetite so they might be for tomorrow now.

Ta da:-
I have tried to catch up on laundry and things are not quite as bad as they were with that Confused. Also I unintentionally organised a box of spare dance and school wear as needed to get out some tights for DD2 so thought I may as well do it quickly.

Also I’m very exciting news... got results for DD1’s ballet exam and passed with a merit SmileStar. Yay.

Had better go and make these sandwiches!

Cherry waves to everyone.

Also love house elf idea Smile.
