February Flying for Fledglings, No More CHAOS here

Welcome to February! This is a friendly ongoing thread where we follow (n some cases, very loosely) the Flylady method for sorting out our homes and lives!

Newbies are always welcome here! It’s a long running thread so please don’t worry if we appear cliquey. There’s a lot of chatter and support for all sorts of things, alongside the housework stuff.

Every day I will post a link to the Flylady launch pad, which is where you can access the information for that day - babysteps, missions, daily focus etc. But if you’re confused about anything, please ask!

Check out the website too - but we suggest not signing up for the millions of emails.

The great thing about Flylady is that you jump in where you are. Everything you do is progress. Don’t worry about not “keeping up”. Any achievement, however small, means progress.

More info to follow.

Excuse crappy camera qualityBlush

KTCluck · 28/02/2020 17:23

No idea about the lump zoo but looks sore! Did it just appear from nowhere?

Good idea about the doll, DD has one with long hair. I’m going to have a try at the plaiting tonight on her. It looks like I have the right method but was starting off wrong, and just need a bit of practice. At least I can put a hair bobble unlike poor lefty DH who just can’t get his head round it at all. He’s been having a try on me but hasn’t got it cracked yet Grin

Ya da:
✅ downstairs dusted
✅ downstairs and stairs hoovered
✅ Floors mopped
✅ Sofas pulled out, hoovered and mopped underneath, and got all dust bunnies as instructed by Flylady Halo
✅ tv, window and mirror cleaned
✅ storage box decluttered. Lid now fits on
✅ dining table wiped
✅ benches and hob cleaned
✅ LOL
✅ ironing pile halved
✅ hall tidied
✅ hair done
✅ appointment made with friend
✅ paid for garden waste bin
✅ lasagne prepped for tea
✅ little case retrieved and upstairs with first few items in - this is one of the areas where decluttering has really helped. Previously it would be such an ordeal to dig the case out from under the bed or wherever and empty crap from inside. It would weigh on my mind for days before going away anywhere and I’d procrastinate over it. Today it literally took me 20 seconds to get it from the cupboard and carry it upstairs, and it was already empty. Feels like an adulting win instead of my usual fails Grin

Quick cuppa and MN before I head to pick up DD, then we have a couple of hours to ourselves as DH is out for a few drinks from work.

To do:

  • Hang up clothes I’ve ironed
  • finish packing
  • do nails and pluck eyebrows tonight
KTCluck · 28/02/2020 17:26

Sorry your feeling overwhelmed Lane. That’s a good ta da list though. Poor DS. It’s easy done. Enjoy a relaxing night.

LaneBoy · 28/02/2020 17:29

KT well done on the case - love little wins like that, they mean so much!

Zoo no idea unless it’s one of those random lumps I get on my hands if I write too long. But the extreme fatigue/joint pain makes me think blood tests for inflammatory markers would be a good plan. 💐

ExpletiveDelighted · 28/02/2020 20:56

Checking in early tonight.

Tada!

DW rebooted
1 x LOL
Weekly food shop put away and fridge rearranged
Dinner cooked
S&S
Bleached mildew on DD's window
Ran vac round
Yoga class
Booked cars into garage (I do garage stuff for both our cars as the one we use is right by my work).
Booked cinema for weekend (Emma)
Paypalled friend for something
Checked bank accounts, credit cards
Took DD to swimming
Sorted some photos on laptop - seems to take forever but enjoyable
Put shoes away on new shoe rack - the old one wasn't big enough so there were always shoes on the hallf floor, it looks much nicer now.
Rolled eyes at DH - leftover lino, carpet, shoes, hammer, screwdriver STILL not put away.

Zoo - I'm not sure about your finger but would suggest getting it looked at. Glad you got a bit of rest this afternoon.

Lane - sorry to hear you feeling so whacked. My DS left his key at home today and locked himself out, had to walk up to the sports centre in the rain to get mine, these things are easily done.

KT - good list, you've reminded me I need to do my nails, both sets are too long, chipped polish etc.

I'm not going to post links for tomorrow as it's Saturday, but remember everyone - Family Fun Day.

Good lists there, KT and Expletive. Lane, sorry you're exhausted and overwhelmed. You've achieved a great deal and are holding everyone else up too. Any chance DH can take over for the evening and you can get an early night? Zoo, I suspect all your troubles might be connected - that lump on your finger looks like an infection in the joint my DM had. She felt fluey and had joint pain all over until she got anti-bs for it. Best get it looked at, I think.

Not many Ta Das today, but some
☑️ DS3 finished Goblet of Fire and watched the film
☑️ I went out for coffee with friends and left DH to hold the fort!
☑️ Quick Tesco shop for stuff that isn't available at Lidl
☑️ Did some more writing
☑️ Remembered to take off make up and moisturize (self care win!)
☑️ Fought off Idiot Hound who believes moisturizer of any kind is A Treat For Puppies To Lick!

Realised I've felt aimless and a bit off today because I forgot my AD this morning. Going to bed now instead!

Morning all Brew

Hope lack of morning posts means some posters (especially you zoo) are having a nice lie in!

Busy week here. Parents evenings, preschool boosters, job interview Shock housework especially laundry has taken a back seat. As has uni work 😣 need to do something about that

Ta da

Dryer on

ExpletiveDelighted · 29/02/2020 08:00

Morning all, I've just despatched DS on his paper round (I help him label and sort the papers into his bag). Now on the sofa with a cuppa pondering today's to do list and the fact that the latest CV case is quite close to home.

That - job interview? Have you heard back?

THAT90sBITCH · 29/02/2020 08:05

No, should do next week expletive It was really nice and i would love it. Also spoke with current employer about what they would like me to return doing. Not overjoyed with that but if needs be i will do it til i find something else!

ExpletiveDelighted · 29/02/2020 08:07

Morning all!

Just diving in quickly to say "helloooooooo" to everyone. Guest-free today so enjoying a very relaxed morning! (Not thinking about the mess that awaits at wreck1 tomorrow evening and we are just going to enjoy the weekend and chill out completely. Thankfully, have done enough cooking over past few days so we don't have to do any more for a couple of days! )

And thanks again everyone for seeing me through the low moments of this week; your support really helped! Flowers BrewCake.

We are instigating a ban on Easter vists and hopefully this won't be too difficult to achieve with Corona travel restrictions etc.

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend!

LaneBoy · 29/02/2020 08:23

Awww well done thatbaby! 😍⭐️ you need one of these baby mop onesies (pic from google, not my kid 🤣)

Also meant to share a very flylady word I saw on FB the other day.

Social plans fell through today due to ill friend but I still get plenty of time to myself this morning. Determined to pick up my book where I left it - I haven’t actually attempted reading since starting meds in November. I keep renewing the library books. The great irony is, one of those books that I’m halfway through is about ADHD 😅 but anyway, I’m going to try and read a chapter of the thriller I was reading, and finish watching White House Farm at the very least.

Also haven’t done any course work or finished my therapy notes yet so must try that.

Breaking out the stronger painkillers this morning I think!

LaneBoy · 29/02/2020 09:02

Oh now I pop back here and see the namechange announcement 🤣 excellent choice!

Achieved nothing but eating breakfast today so far!

Cagletini watching baconface. DS is up, but I only know that because I can hear the telltale sound of Lego rummaging.

Sizeablecontours · 29/02/2020 09:04

That 😂😂

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 29/02/2020 09:25

Love the new name, That! Thinking I might Springify my name if I get brave. But I'll have to remember my password for that 😂.

Expletive, thanks for a calm thread through hectic weather (and life!) and dark. Feels odd having an extra day, like the extra hour when the clocks go back. I should do something Important and Useful with it! Will probably do laundry and plan stuff in my bullet journal (not set up March yet, properly).

SC (loving the new name there too), looking forward to March, and very pleased you have said No Easter Visitors.

Zoo, hope things are better today, and also for Lane.

To Dos today
☑️ Strip our bed and turn the mattress
☑️ Get DS3 to strip his bed
☑️ Order a weighted blanket for DD and accept I'm never going to have the time / energy / focus to make one.
☑️ Go to Dunelm for a new set of bedding for us
☑️ Do Planning
☑️ Walk Willowhound
☑️ Hoover top floor, upstairs and down

TooStressyTooMessy · 29/02/2020 09:42

Love the new name That Grin. Thank you for such a lovely thread Expletive StarCakeFlowersBrew.

Yay for no visitors this weekend SC and none at Easter Star.

My parents are visiting later Confused.
I am pretending I am calm about this prospect. Kids super excited. DH in his traditional bad mood in preparation for the visit ConfusedConfusedConfused.

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 29/02/2020 09:51

[Gin] for you Stressy. The traditional spousal bad mood about in-laws is standard issue, I think. Good luck!

ExpletiveDelighted · 29/02/2020 09:52

Willow, I don't seem to be making the most of the day, still on the sofa, but the rain has stopped and the sun is coming out so better get moving.

Stressy - hope the visit goes ok Flowers.
