February Flying for Fledglings, No More CHAOS here

ExpletiveDelighted · 30/01/2020 17:14

Welcome to February! This is a friendly ongoing thread where we follow (n some cases, very loosely) the Flylady method for sorting out our homes and lives!

Newbies are always welcome here! It’s a long running thread so please don’t worry if we appear cliquey. There’s a lot of chatter and support for all sorts of things, alongside the housework stuff.

Every day I will post a link to the Flylady launch pad, which is where you can access the information for that day - babysteps, missions, daily focus etc. But if you’re confused about anything, please ask!

Check out the website too - but we suggest not signing up for the millions of emails.

The great thing about Flylady is that you jump in where you are. Everything you do is progress. Don’t worry about not “keeping up”. Any achievement, however small, means progress.

More info to follow.

Good luck stressy!

I have done fuck all so far today 😳😳😳

Sizeablecontours · 29/02/2020 15:43

I'm doing nothing Lane . Totally crumped.

How's your finger Zoo? If it's on a joint, could it be a ganglion cyst. (Obviously I have no clue what I am talking about but someone I know had one.)

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 29/02/2020 17:49

I'm doing everything today. Thats how it feels anyway.

Burnt out Sad

Sizeablecontours · 29/02/2020 19:36

Sorry to hear that That Sad

Could you possibly head out for an hour or two tomorrow (spontaneously like Wink) and leave your oh in charge?

LaneBoy · 29/02/2020 19:57

ta da
✅read a chapter of my book for the first time in months
✅finished watching White House Farm
✅LOL
✅got DD1 to dry her washing
✅had friend and her DS round, suuuuper appreciate their company. I am mega anxious this evening and I love that they just chill with us ❤️ I’m really lucky to have friends like that
✅found a particular DVD to watch with friend (nostalgic! Been meaning to for months)
✅sketched a load of ideas for tattoos as someone asked me to 😅 I was a bit daunted at first but it’s been quite fun so far.

Takeaway nearly here. Living room is an absolute hole so will have to make an effort after dinner. No idea when DH will be home!

I really need to figure out a good balance for getting stuff done through the week. At the moment it feels like I do really well generally tues-thurs because we have all these courses and stuff and it’s easy to make the effort when I have to shower and be presentable. After those few days I’m exhausted (as much socially as physically) and crash.

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 29/02/2020 21:21

Flowers and Wine for everyone who is exhausted and needs a week night off. Sorry it all falls to you, That and that people are so bloody exhausting, Lane. SC thank goodness you have your house back, even if you are going somewhere else this eve (or did I make that up?).

Ta Das today
☑️ Bought new bedding that fits our new mattress
☑️ Bought a lavender wreath for the door, because I could.
☑️ Talked DD down from a panic attack at London Bridge station because she couldn't find the overland trains.
☑️ Sneaky boughten lunch with DH
☑️ Cleaned the fluff out of the tumble dryer - not just the filter, but right inside, the hose to the outside world and up to my armpit in the vent from the garden side! It's much more efficient now Blush. And is in the diary to do again in 6 months, not 5 years.
☑️ DH fixed a lock on the en suite, made the family bathroom door shut properly and fixed a blind in the study that had fallen down
☑️ Take away pizza for tea

Just about to gird my loins to read The Out of Sync Child Has Fun, to try to help DS3 and DD do more outside, which they find very overwhelming unless it's entirely in their terms. DS3 is overweight and hates it, and I'm not sure how to help him (given that I'm no longer svelte myself and can't fix that either).

ExpletiveDelighted · 29/02/2020 23:35

Evening all,

I did the big defluff thing of the dryer hose a few months ago Willow, oddly satisfying.

Hope you're fast asleep now That and tomorrow is better.

Lane - I finished White House Farm last week, it was fascinating, I'm old enough to remember it happenning. I've also been listening to some podcasts about it.

Tada!
Detailed bathroom cleaning (toothbrush holders, soapdishes etc)
Tidying - lots, over several hours
2 x LOL (dry but not put away)
Crochet - lots
Cinema - went to see Emma, very enjoyable

See you all in March

Cineraria · 01/03/2020 01:05

Thank you for the February thread, Expletive and to everyone for being good company and encouraging. I'm enjoying my home a lot more than I did at the start of the month.

Sizeablecontours · 01/03/2020 07:05

Hello everyone. We are now over here for 1st March...

Expletive I really want to see Emma, waiting for it to appear here! Thank you again for such a fab thread Flowers

What a lovely post Cineraria, great to hear the system is working for you!

Bower hope you are ok?

Willow we live between two houses atm; we are busy renovating country one we are going to "retire" to in a couple of years (but in reality neither of us will be retiring! Grin)

Hope you are surviving the weekend Toostressy
