February Flying for Fledglings, No More CHAOS here

ExpletiveDelighted · 30/01/2020 17:14

Welcome to February! This is a friendly ongoing thread where we follow (n some cases, very loosely) the Flylady method for sorting out our homes and lives!

Newbies are always welcome here! It’s a long running thread so please don’t worry if we appear cliquey. There’s a lot of chatter and support for all sorts of things, alongside the housework stuff.

Every day I will post a link to the Flylady launch pad, which is where you can access the information for that day - babysteps, missions, daily focus etc. But if you’re confused about anything, please ask!

Check out the website too - but we suggest not signing up for the millions of emails.

The great thing about Flylady is that you jump in where you are. Everything you do is progress. Don’t worry about not “keeping up”. Any achievement, however small, means progress.

More info to follow.

SC I hope you weren’t funding these prepaid cards and euros?! But huge well done for not making the pancakes. Honestly these people sound more demanding than my two year old.

That hope you’re ok, is it a repeat of the pain you had the other week?

LaneBoy · 25/02/2020 18:30

Zoo does the visit really have to happen tomorrow? If it would only be a short one anyway? It’s not like you chose to cancel the original any more than she chose to need to attend a funeral! It’s ok to say actually I’m not well enough for that.

(She says, knowing full well how hard that is - pretty much spent all of therapy yesterday discussing the issue of asking for help! ACEs was about that topic today too)

foxessocks · 25/02/2020 18:41

sc I can't believe your guests!! So glad you didn't make them pancakes but really...i have no words!

We've just had pancakes made by dh, he even flipped one much to the dc delight. I'm glad I decided to stay at home and have them (was contemplating going to the church for their pancake party but dd had a headache so we decided not to) she seems ok after some Calpol and it sounds like both of them are now flooding the bathroom Hmm

Tinselette1940 · 25/02/2020 18:41

I think I am properly better SC but I'm easing my way into my Flylady zone cleaning. I've to have the 24 blood pressure monitor and final doctor visit the week after next.

Well done on delegating the pancake making 😉😊🥞. We've cut back on guests after our last guest who was just torturous...

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 25/02/2020 19:49

SC, those guests are properly taking the piss. Who was it said fish, and guests, stink after 3 days? Might have been an Ancient Roman. Anyway, he was right!

DS2's meeting was helpful - we think the school have finally got it. And it's a good job I stayed here as DS3 had a total hysterical meltdown in the middle of his maths lesson and I had to be here to cuddle and soothe.

I got the house Ta Das done but nothing else, as I had a minor meltdown of my own this afternoon and went back to bed for an hour and a half. I've been devoting all my time, even reading time, to holding the DC up and I just had nothing left to give by 1.30 today when the GP said he didn't want to refer DS2, he thinks we're over-medicalising the problem. That's very easy to say if you're not living it. Anyway, we have agreed to step back for a bit and I slept for 90 minutes then read a Georgette Heyer novel until pancake time.

Just finding the kitchen and putting the washing away, then I'm getting in the bath.

SC I live in Idaho, USA. A few short hours away from Yellowstone and the massive volcano. There are lots of little pockets all around here that have hot springs. I love it!
zoo don't overwork yourself, is that appointment really necessary to do tomorrow or could you reschedule?
That I hope you have been able to get more sleep than last night.

Ta Das
~LOL x3, didn't get to our sheets though
~I was looking up passport info. I need to renew mine before booking flights (it'll expire before our trip) and discovered I don't need to worry about the others passports. I thought there had to be 6 months left after the trip, but that's only certain countries, UK isn't one of them! So that's a relief.
~living room sorted, things put away and cushions fluffed.
~lunch with DH
~401(k) rollover sorted, still have to rollover retirement but there's paperwork involved, can't just be done over the phone. Cashed out ROTH as not much of a balance.
~groceries picked up, just a few items that I needed.
~checked schedule at 2nd job for next week.
~pancakes made - 3 different types! American, British (with lemon and sugar of course) for dessert and keto for me. DH cooked bacon and sausages to go with them.
~Cleaned up kitchen, team effort. DW is loaded and ready to get turned on when we go to bed.

I also managed to fit a nap in this afternoon, about 2 hours long too! Must have needed it. Back to work tomorrow so will sort out outfit tonight before bed.

Sorry I haven't remembered everyone, I have been keeping up with the thread, but not responded.

HungryHazelEyes · 26/02/2020 04:56

SC I wanted to mention to you that your guests really are taking complete advantage of you and you really shouldn't feel obliged to entertain and accommodate them. I guess I haven't had that problem as it seems none of my family are interested in visiting us (and we really don't have much room) so haven't been in your position.
I really hope they step up and help more. What did they do/ say when you gave them ingredients for pancakes to make them themselves?

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/02/2020 06:22

hazelmy D's obsessed volcanoes/Yellowstone!afternoon naps are the best!
Willow good to hear you napes and read.hope battery power is at least at halfway point now.i tend push on til I can't...
ED I had cat poo clearing on D's bed

THAT90sBITCH · 26/02/2020 06:48

lane it wasnt same pain as last week thank god, it was more like period back/stomach ache but randomly mid cycle! The water infection cleared up quickly with anti bs and that back/stomach ache was short lasting

Unfortunately another shit nights sleep here hazel. Baby slept 10-1ish but after that couldnt get him back in his cot again. Did manage to get him to sleep in our bed but still with me holding him about 330 for couple of hours but i still feel 🧟‍♀️

zoo i would hate to keep having judgy people in my house Sad

Anyone see the thread on leather paint? I am tempted to have a go on our cream dining chairs. Honestly who has fucking cream with kids

Cant remember if i said already but last weeks library visit went well. Dc 1 and 2 have read their books already although they only got 6 each not the 20-odd they were allowed Shock They are now reading each others books which is a perk of having two close in age!

LaneBoy · 26/02/2020 07:03

Morning Fledglings

Been awake a while (think I confused my body by being asleep by 11.30 🤣) but currently have a toddler snoozing on me so I’ve not got up yet. I really should learn to embrace those mornings where I’m actually awake before my alarm - I’ll only be even more sleepy and useless later anyway!

Glad I left my meds by my bed - definitely going to be a permanent feature on the Future Friend list (I sometimes end up sleeping downstairs if not well/Cagletini being a pain so it’s not just leaving them upstairs IYSWIM). Taking them early and hoping they kick in fast.

Need to pay into my savings (still haven’t set up a standing order. It’s the govt help to save acct and you can pay in every month so I don’t want to miss the bonus) and then get up. Was hoping for a quick shower again and leave my hair till tomorrow but just saw a fucking giant louse in toddler’s hair. Presumably yet another thing picked up from nursery along with all the germs 🤬 but at least now I’m awake I have time to comb my own hair through properly. DH can do DS’ and his during the day, DD will have to wait till after school.

THAT90sBITCH · 26/02/2020 07:16

Lane i am doing the help to save thing too. Stupidly i signed up and didnt use it for 18 months. Now kicking myself!

foxessocks · 26/02/2020 07:28

zoo was it you who used pink stuff to clean your oven? I don't know if I dreamt it!

Morning all! Smile

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 26/02/2020 07:35

I've got the pink stuff in to do mine but haven't tried it yet.

Bowerbird5 · 26/02/2020 08:10

Thanks. It was ok. Feeling a bit flat at the moment. Went to GP who was his usual cheery self. He took some bloods.

I’ll pop back later going to attempt getting up and going to church.

LaneBoy · 26/02/2020 08:48

Hope you can have a relaxing day bower ❤️

Very odd that but glad it’s not lasted, I get weird pain around ovulation sometimes. Shame about the savings but you still get the bonus on what you do pay so never too late!

Zoo I know it’s so so hard as you are so independent but there is absolutely nothing wrong with responding to their “not coping” talk with “actually no I’m not [insert swear word if you want] coping because XYZ and I need more help than what you’re providing”. Nobody in their right mind would expect you to be coping perfectly with the amount of anxiety your kids are displaying, home ed that’s been forced on you, EHCP, assessment pathways, health stuff etc, not least when “D”P is being useless.

ta da
✅paid into savings
✅got DD to flatten and take out the ludicrous amount of loo roll tubes in the downstairs toilet as it’s recycling today (really must remember to take the bins back round at some point this week)
✅shower, hair (no infestation thank goodness but we will still check everyone throughout the day), moisturised even! Self care! Woo!
✅replied to email about next therapy session (need to check diary though)

Decided two more things I’ll add to my FF list:
🔰Ensure phone (and iPad if I’ll need to take it out with me, but I rarely do) fully charged (you aren’t really supposed to charge them overnight anyway apparently?)
🔰choose earrings (really trying to remember to wear them regularly now as otherwise it gets painful after a few days when I try again!)

(I’m keeping FF just for “getting out the door” type stuff for now I think, as opposed to house stuff, I’ll probably do that separately. Not that the control wall is up yet 🙄🙈)

Need to go soon and no time to dry hair. Oops.

Hi all!

SC I can’t believe your guests returned after an hour! Well done on the pancakes though.

We3 I hope that was an automated message. How ridiculous.

Zoo, Lane, Willow Flowers for all you have going on at the moment.

Too I have daily adulting fails. I’ve already smashed a glass this morning trying to carry too many things into the kitchen. Despite knowing fine well I was going to drop something I still persevered Hmm

Waves to everyone else.

Ta da:
✅ beds made
✅ LOL
✅ upstairs semi tidied
✅ scrambled egg on toast for breakfast. DD is insisting she now needs a cheese sandwich. She doesn’t.
✅ some dishes hand washed
✅ glass cleared up

To Do:

  • get us both dressed (DD wants us to go to the park in our pjs)
  • empty dishwasher and load breakfast things
  • wipe benches and run hoover over
  • tidy living room and hall
  • usual Wednesday home bleurgh upstairs
  • look at the missions and do some
  • something out the freezer for tea
  • make soup for lunch / work and prep overnight oats
  • another LOL
  • tell nursery I’m keeping DD off on Monday since DH keeps forgetting when he does drop off - I’m meeting family in York for the weekend but DD is staying at home with DH so I’m taking Monday off to spend the day with her. I’ve also got Friday off to get my hair done and do my usual Saturday jobs so I have Saturday morning with her before going for the train.
foxessocks · 26/02/2020 11:01

KT I misread that and thought you meant your dh forgets to drop your dd off at nursery - I was wondering what he does with her instead, leave her in the car Shock glad that isn't the case Grin

Thanks zoo I will look for one of those (gives me an excuse not to do it today Grin)

My main ta da today is finally got gifts for my two nephews for this weekend. And I've eaten more birthday cake 🍰

foxessocks · 26/02/2020 12:30

First bit of deep cleaning for ages, I cleaned out under the sink! Then I've wasted about half an hour on my phone 🤦‍♀️

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/02/2020 12:36
