February Flying for Fledglings, No More CHAOS here

ExpletiveDelighted · 30/01/2020 17:14

Welcome to February! This is a friendly ongoing thread where we follow (n some cases, very loosely) the Flylady method for sorting out our homes and lives!

Newbies are always welcome here! It’s a long running thread so please don’t worry if we appear cliquey. There’s a lot of chatter and support for all sorts of things, alongside the housework stuff.

Every day I will post a link to the Flylady launch pad, which is where you can access the information for that day - babysteps, missions, daily focus etc. But if you’re confused about anything, please ask!

Check out the website too - but we suggest not signing up for the millions of emails.

The great thing about Flylady is that you jump in where you are. Everything you do is progress. Don’t worry about not “keeping up”. Any achievement, however small, means progress.

More info to follow.

For some reason my brain turned skiving into skydiving 🤔 which would still be productive I suppose

✅got DS to do some work
✅put last LOL in dryer
✅did the approachable good listener mum thing for DD despite feeling like shit

Aaaaargh

Bowerbird5 · 08/02/2020 00:15

We3 what a great list🤗
Lane hope you feel better soon. You have been looking after everyone don’t forget.

That I think you would hear about it if he had it! Hope you feel better soon.
Enjoyed people watching at the after Mass fish and chips. Had a crack with one of the retired priests who has shown a real care about me. Such a lovely, gentle person.stayed for a while because some stayed on and their is always some interesting conversations.

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/02/2020 07:06

bower sounds like a lovely evening
That if you don't have strength to sort twatasaurus I can bring a shovel?a weekend utilising older DC is in order to keep essentials ticking overdon't try and be wonderwoman.your body needs rest BrewFlowers
Lane I'd rather be skivving than skydiving given my vertigo/fear of heights.and if we ask willow to support us with the pharmacy we could open by tomorrow, sadly I fear a police raid may shut us down rapidly, esp if we cause a decongestant shortage.....

Not much flying done yesterday.i had pop town for cat kibble and few other essentials.scoutcay decides that's be a great time to puke all over the cat tree.after the back of the radiator debacle I didn't think he could surpass that.but no,I was wrongly.he managed get vomit over grille on virgin box and over extension plugs/socket.WAS NOT funtimes with a cocktail stick on the virgin box...he clearly doesn't chew before swallowing eitherHmmand he managed get dd2 phone which now keeps shut down saying overheating....someone shoot me or that bloody cat
In other news made a start try tackle my unruly hedge before garden waste is charged to collect filled my brown bin and only clipped a section back to the little wall under it.think I need ask next door I can utilise her bin too...

Got call offering dd2 cancelled app at camhs for monday.i snap that up as it's our nearest one rather than wait for 19th march across county.mpnfays now crazy as D's also has camhs and his booster vaccines are pm

Opticians today at 9.dd2 intends "get showered and sorted" -think she's faff hair and make up so I need rouse her shortly as I don't do late!!
Storm Ciara hits us tomorrow, today's ment be nice so need crack on with things today and will try and have a hunker indoors day tomorrow

Have a good day fledglings!!

LaneBoy · 08/02/2020 07:37

Oh wow zoo that’s so good about CAMHS. Could you rearrange DS’ vaccines to make the day a bit simpler? I’ve got quite used to thinking “what’s the easiest thing to drop” 😳

I’d not be a very safe pharmacist, DH brought me up some paracetamol last night, and I remember thinking damn I need some water, then I woke up 3+ hours later with the tablets still in my hand 😳😳😳

I think I’m going to try and sleep some more.

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 08/02/2020 08:20

that, I hope the antibiotics are doing their thing and you're feeling a bit better. Lane, sorry you're feeling rubbish, still. My DM would diagnose lack of sleep...

We3, that is not a skive day, and I cannot fathom where you are finding the energy with 4 DC and studying to do. Have you any magic energy pills to contribute to the pharmacy? I think we should keep Wendy tootling round to hoover up any evidence stuff that gets dropped. We could sell the resulting fluff and mixed pharmaceuticals as Alternative Herbal Medicine possibly a step too far Wink

I was out for a lot of yesterday and left DH holding the fort with DS3, who has no fixed lessons on a Friday. DS3 got lots of work done, but let's just say they were Flying by the seat of their pants and I got back at 4pm to a bombsite. DW not run, wet washing still sitting in the machine, everything anyone had touched all day (it seemed) put down on the kitchen table. Hey ho.

To dos for today:
🔳 Get DS3 to change his bed
🔳 LOL x many
🔳 Sort through all the bedding that used to be under DS2's bed.
🔳 DW rotated and run again
🔳 Fill in the next set of EHCP forms
🔳 Either fix the printer and buy new ink, or decide it's beyond saving and order a new one.
🔳 Contact the Furniture Project about the old single bed
🔳 Decide what's for tea
🔳 Chase up DD's Kung Fu taster for Monday
🔳 Buy joggers for DD if above is happening.
🔳 Look at the missions I've missed this week and see if I can cram them all in
🔳 Sort out DS2's provisional licence paperwork with him, then get him to go online and apply. Can't believe he will be 17 next month!

Cherry waves to everyone. Happy weekend!

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 08/02/2020 08:21

Oh, blast, zoo, meant to say really good news on CAMHS. Hope it really helps.

KTCluck · 08/02/2020 08:24

sorry there are so many stressed and poorly fledglings \ DC on the thread. How is the pain this morning that?

I've just caught up after a very full on work trip. DH is away for the weekend so won't see him until late Sunday. It's going to be a lazy snuggly.sort of day.for me and DD. DH followed instructions and I've come home to a lovely tidy house so I definitely won't feel.guilty for minimal flying today.

Ta Da:
Errr. Nowt.

To Do:
Get up dressed
Breakfast
Unpack case
LOL
Suitcase put away
Depending on how the day goes I might do some of my usual Saturday home bleurgh and look at the weeks missions that I've missed. I have Monday and Tuesday off work though so won't worry if not.

LaneBoy · 08/02/2020 09:36

:o Willow if only it were as simple as getting more sleep eh? :o My mum likes to tell me to go to bed earlier and to make sure I drink water (which I actually do, I hardly drink anything else!) Hmm

Well done on getting through the work trip kt!

Willow if you do get a printer then I recommend HP instant ink! You just pay a certain amount a month for however many pages (we do £3.49 for 100) and they send ink whenever you need it, there’s a sensor in the printer so they know when to post it. It’s taken one hassle away at least.

I should really get up. Haven’t taken meds, didn’t get back to sleep, just faffed about on my phone, such a waste.

Feel really low this morning TBH but I should at least get my usual child free time later. Must make the most of it, even if that’s just a new series on catch up (I wrote a list! With 🎯 next to the ones that won’t be available to watch much longer), I might try drawing with the charcoal pencils I got last month.

Have a good Saturday all.

Tinselette1940 · 08/02/2020 09:46

Oh that I hope the antibiotics work for you. Mine did work but have currently gifted me candida so treating that now.

Zoo I'm in stitches here about scoutcat although I concede that the choice of location for barfing was very inconsiderate. Drat that cat.

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/02/2020 11:08

willow alternative herbal medicineGrin
KT enjoy snuggly day, well done for mrKT actually following a list

LaneBoy · 08/02/2020 11:33

ta da
✅dressed
✅LOL
✅gathered enough other stuff for a second LOL
✅put DD’s dirty stuff in her room (she needs to wash uniform anyway)
✅threw some rubbish away
✅opened a few windows
✅sorted dishes in kitchen, too dizzy/sore to actually wash up yet but at least it looks slightly less like a hovel now

Going to curl up with a drama - think I’ll go with deadwater fell as it expires on the app fairly soon. Also, David Tennant. 😇

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 08/02/2020 12:33

Sorry your still feeling crap lane.
Hope the antibx have kicked in for you that.

Ta-da's for today
✔️ S&S
✔️ 2 x LOL
✔️ ironing
✔️ bathed, dressed, hair, makeup

To-do's
Finish hoovering when little fella wakes up
Take him for his feet measured and to get shoes. Been saying I'm going to do this for a month so really need to try and actually do it today.

LaneBoy · 08/02/2020 13:44

Watching deadwater fell why did nobody warn me I’d end up sobbing in episode 1 😭

I’m moving laundry on in the ad breaks. One small advantage of channel 4 I suppose 😅

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/02/2020 14:05

If anyone has pointy stick, prod it this way I am really flagging/unmotivated!!

Tada
Fed cats
Wash on
Put away some town shop from yesterday

Optician for zoolets.ds longsighted and needs glasses.he was quite rude with staff saying he didn't care what looks like as he don't have to look at themluckily they are very nice and help chose frames they thought would suit him, then it was between dd2,lil zoo and I to pick which we liked best.
Top up shop on way back
Took dd2 over nature reserve for a stroll as very agitated and her phone is fooked...do said will get a new one tom as it's her best coping strategy with panic attacks- he's at work today

Nudge dd2 to revise, even a little, for Spanish mock speaking on Tuesday

Lisette1940 · 08/02/2020 14:48

Is that first shoes for your little one we3kings?

------>☕ for zoo

Waves to fledglings. Have put away weekly shop and am currently organising the universe on paper.

LaneBoy · 08/02/2020 16:06

I definitely need to do that lisette although I usually then have trouble transferring said organisation from paper to reality!

ta da
✅lots of relaxing TV time. I’m on the fourth and final episode already!
✅second LOL in, first in dryer

Will get DD1 to do her laundry later

THAT90sBITCH · 08/02/2020 16:16

Afternoon all

So this morning i thought the pain had gone. Then it came back on the other side and now both sides hurt Sad

I have bad bad bad washing backlog not helped by the babies bedtime nappies leaking repeatedly requiring full clothing plus bedding changes

Ta da

Dd to activity and back
Top up shop
Wash on
Dryer on
All fed none dead

Bowerbird5 · 08/02/2020 17:21

Well I’m glad we are inside. Looking out across the village green with tree branches really moving and grey sky getting dark too.

————————————> I need one too. Feel tired today. Wasn’t too late last night and slept reasonably well and slept in.

Dressed to uggs
LOL
Quick tidy around kitchen, wiped worktops.
Went shopping in town. Tiles and new back door. Hmm. No tiles until Friday may have to change our idea.
Collected ordered ones.
Went to look at doors they didn’t have one outside door. Door furniture has to be ordered from another warehouse. Ordered a door if we don’t like it we don’t have to haveit if we don’t like it.

Some lunch.
Somefood shopping.

Put shopping away after cleaning fridge out.

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 08/02/2020 17:24

Love the 'all fed non dead' that. Im going to use that in the half term holidays when DH asks how my day has been 😂.

More ta-da's
✔️ finished hoovering
✔️ got the shoes! Yes lisette they are his first ones although it's taken me that long to sort them we skipped the baby ones they do in Clark's and went straight for the proper shoes. Forgot how expensive Clark's shoes are. They'll be his first and last pair. Also had a look in a few other shops for a new top to wear on a night out I'm going on at the end of the month. Couldn't find anything but then on the way home has a think and I'm going to wear something I already have. Also nipped into matalan for new tea towels as I noticed when clearing out the kitchen cupboards that we desperately needed some. And grabbed a hairbrush for DS1 because he always pinches mine when he goes swimming with school.
✔️ came back to a load of dishes that DH had used. He was going to do them when he's finished watching his film but I just did them so they were done.
✔️ took 3 of the dc for a sleepover at my DGM. DS3 is staying at home as all of a sudden he has a temp and is saying he feels sick and his mouth is sore. He also has a massive lump in one side of his neck like swollen glands but only one side? Had a look in his mouth and can't see anything but strep throat is going round his class so I'll see how he goes and maybe GP on Monday if no better. Typically his teacher stopped me on Friday and asked me to stay back for the assembly on Monday as he's getting an award and now he might miss it.
✔️ food shop partly done in farm foods

Now heading into Aldi for the rest and then home to do some ironing and make dinner.

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 08/02/2020 17:37

Does someone on this thread do journaling? I'm sure one of you do. Anyway saw this wellness journal in Aldi and took pictures for a friend so I'll put them on here in case I'm right 😂

That if the pain is getting worse I'd be ringing the out of hours service at least, if not heading to A&E in case it is a kidney infection getting worse. Sorry to be the voice/typer of doom there, but having gone through the same thing myself recently the antibiotics seem to help the pain really quickly in my case. I don't get so much pain as you, it's blood in my wee (apologies to other fledglings for way too much information there Blush )

Zoo good news about the CAMHS appointment as they seem to be very hard to come by. Agree with Lane that it might be worth dropping something.

I've had a mammogram appointment through the post today. The strange thing is that it is a 'welcome to the service' letter when I was part of a trial that had early mammograms so I've had some before - I was even referred to the centre that has sent the letter when the first one found a lump! So that extra EC money directed to the NHS has already started to kick in, obviously Hmm

The good news is that DD's stomach cramps are easing (I also think these are period related tbh) and her brace tightening this time was much easier than last time and not nearly as painful! If the teeth continue to move she's probably only got one or two more tightenings to go which is great! She has a list of things she's going to eat again once the brackets are off!

Not much flying done, laundry as ever and have hung it outside again, in the hope of the wind doing it's best. Are you all battening down the hatches for the storm? We have weather warnings but I don't think we are in the main path, although there is a lot of things being cancelled or closed tomorrow!

Back later for the Masked Singer thread on MN, we need all the help with clues from the MN hive mind!

THAT90sBITCH · 08/02/2020 17:48

Its not so much getting worse its just spread. I only took the second antibiotic this morning so obviously they wont have had time to kick in yet! Managing pain with pain killers but honestly if it did get worse i would go to a&e. Atleast it now being both sides means its not my appendix!

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/02/2020 17:53

we3 ooooh,like look of that journalbaby's first shoes😍😍😍😍😍

Chic glad braces are going well, and bless her on cramps.periods are crap for adults.i pity my girls when they feel bit sorry for themselves.reminds me then how ever firstly they can be they aren't grown ups to handle it all yet
On subject lil zoo headaches eased after couple hours into a period.please don't let this be a new standard
Lisette I must start my lists again.tailed of this week as running around and boy does it show!!
glad you are resting
Bower I see weather warning are pretty hefty up north.hope you guys are ok.
That OOH missis.no messing around

Winds start pick up a bit here, bloody howls here at best of times...

Tada
Gave whole cat tree a wipe over.discovered a cloth dampened with dilute zoflora picks up all dust/cat hair so it's now smelling less like scoutcatand decidedly less hairy looking!!

Located living room floor from debris.said debris piled and owners summoned to repatriate back into own spaces!

Floor swept and washed on hands and knees

Swept and wash kitchen floor on hands and knees

Put away more bags of "stuff"

3loads wash.two dry,fold and away.one in drier.another load on

Need find kitchen surfaces/do wash up mountain
At some point dining table surface might be nice to see again

Also I've cajole dd2 Spanish revision for mock speaking this week.shea not in good shape mentally so short attacks with pacing /loo/drink breaks.hummus and pitta snack was well received too

Stopped for a shower, now ready to wash up/find some surfaces so I can fix tea!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/02/2020 17:57
