February Flying for Fledglings, No More CHAOS here

ExpletiveDelighted · 30/01/2020 17:14

Welcome to February! This is a friendly ongoing thread where we follow (n some cases, very loosely) the Flylady method for sorting out our homes and lives!

Newbies are always welcome here! It’s a long running thread so please don’t worry if we appear cliquey. There’s a lot of chatter and support for all sorts of things, alongside the housework stuff.

Every day I will post a link to the Flylady launch pad, which is where you can access the information for that day - babysteps, missions, daily focus etc. But if you’re confused about anything, please ask!

Check out the website too - but we suggest not signing up for the millions of emails.

The great thing about Flylady is that you jump in where you are. Everything you do is progress. Don’t worry about not “keeping up”. Any achievement, however small, means progress.

More info to follow.

I have seen something like this relating to migraines on FB zoo maybe worth a shot? I should try it myself actually.

Aww. Support worker emailed me to see if I’m ok as I’ve never just not shown up for (completely optional) playgroup before. Not entirely what to say without launching into an epic rant about life though :o

Thank you everyone I feel much happier about it now Smile I've ordered the bigger book as I definitely need more space so have to wait for that to arrive which is annoying because I'm in the mood to get it done now!

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 06/02/2020 16:44

Oh, bloody hell, just nearly lost it in Tesco when I upended my purse at the pharmacy by accident and tipped all my change on the floor. Couldn't get the cold meds we need because Sudafed can be used to synthesise crystal meth, so I could only have tablets or liquid, not both.

DS3 hysterical over equivalent fractions again. DS2's migraine has gone, but something is tipping him over the edge, they're stess induced and he's not had one since Y10.

May well be repeating myself here. Bugger all of it.

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 06/02/2020 17:01

😂😂😂

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 06/02/2020 17:09

Willow I sometimes just go round twice when I want to buy something pharmacy can't sell me all in one go. If it's busy enough they forget what they've already sold you.

Pulled my finger out this afternoon because I've been neglecting the house for days.
✔️ school run
✔️ dinner (cottage pie)
✔️ cleaned oven while it was still warm because it's way easier
✔️ emptied fridge and cleaned it
✔️ cleaned microwave
✔️ cleaned hob
✔️ dishes

Now back at college for a mock maths exam 😬

LaneBoy · 06/02/2020 19:46

:o at willow the druglord :o

Not sure it’s my day 🤔

LaneBoy · 06/02/2020 19:56

Hope exam is ok we3!

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 06/02/2020 20:29

Hope it went well We3.

I am such a drug lord that the boudoir resembles some kind of crack den, with a double mattress on the floor and bedding strewn everywhere. 😂

DS2 is building his new bed and the mattress is "relaxing" in our room. I am therefore going to relax in the bath instead.

LaneBoy · 06/02/2020 21:34

ta da

My finger hurts. Bah.

ExpletiveDelighted · 06/02/2020 21:36

I have cleaned out my cutlery drawer! That is the first mission I have done on the exact day so far this year

I have also conquered my fear of house insurance, got my quotes and taken out a new policy. I don't know why I make such a fuss about it, it's just that the horror stories you read about claims being rejected seem to twang something in me, then I get anxious answering all the questions. I seem to be having a bit of a spell of worrying about stuff unnecessarily at the moment.

Reading about the antics of Wendy the hoover and Willow the drug lord have made me smile though, as has Cagletini trying it on!

Zoo - we have to pay £80 a year for our garden waste collection, bloody annoying when we don't use it for months on end over the winter. I make sure I always fill it in the growing season though. Might cut my buddleia back this weekend so I can fill it up for collection on Monday, thanks for the reminder.

We3 - hope the exam went well.

Chic and Foxes - nice to hear about some crafting to dos and tadas! I have never tried scrapbooking, but it always seems like a lovely idea. I am part way through a crochet blanket for the Woolly Hugs project, I take it everywhere as I spend quite a lot of time sitting by football pitches and swimming pools, keeps me occupied.

Links for Friday launchpad - the mission will be to clean out under the sink. I did this a few months ago and it is still in pretty good shape but I will try and do the tupperware drawer instead as it is in chaos again.

Night everyone.

Thanks everyone it was hard! 2 more next week too.

I tend to do the whole weeks worth of jobs on a Sunday rather than on the actual day they're supposed to be done as by the time I get the basics done through the week there's no time left.

Going to get cracking on the kitchen tomorrow once I've done the school run because it looks like a bombs gone off and the guy it coming to hopefully fix the boiler 🤞

LaneBoy · 06/02/2020 21:56

Well done expletive! You’re on a roll I understand the anxiety of forms and stuff, I’ve not done insurance but just the panic over getting things wrong somehow, it makes me put them all off.

I’m actually wondering about starting to try missions - I’m in a place now where I can actually just crack on with something, and I need to stop getting hung up on “but I need to get XYZ done first” as there is so much that needs doing and it’s too easy to just not do anything! But something is better than nothing. I think I may make that an aim for later in the month.

Tinselette1940 · 06/02/2020 22:12

I'm exactly the same about our insurance Expletive. It's up in early August and it's always crunch time because usually we are travelling. I have what dh calls 'metafret' over it and then it's gone for a year.

TooStressyTooMessy · 06/02/2020 22:21

I also find sorting out insurance stressful. Thankfully DH does it but it still takes us ages each time. Then I stupidly look at threads on here about time management / admin where people describe it as an easy 5 minute job Hmm.

LaneBoy · 06/02/2020 22:27

Metafret! What a cool word. Very apt.

Well done for getting through the exam we3 :) Hope you get useful feedback from it.

Think I’m going to bed to write journal and sleep soon, will get Cagletini’s clothes ready first though as she’s back to nursery tomorrow. I have to collect her, I haven’t actually done a proper nursery run at all yet Blush but DH has a meeting. At least it guarantees I get out of the house. This month hasn’t gone so well for that as I stayed in Feb 1/2/3!

LaneBoy · 06/02/2020 22:29

Oh stressy I have never understood people who see such things as quick jobs. What must it be like to not overthink everything? Blush I feel like I find everything like that more complicated than it should be.

ExpletiveDelighted · 06/02/2020 22:36

I'm glad I'm not the only one with the insurance worries. I like "metafret"! I'm the same with travel and car insurance and unfortunately the car is due next month. I did the house one through Compare the Market last year and it had saved everything so that did make it easier today as nothing has really changed. Last year I did a big "stocktake" of how much our possessions are worth, how many valuables we typically take out of the house etc (the latter has gone up since the advent of smartphones). That took ages but won't need repeating every year. Unless we win the lottery!

THAT90sBITCH · 07/02/2020 03:48

I think i just wing it with the insurance. Hopefully this never bites me on the bum.

I did the cutlery drawers because i bought new trays! Didnt even realise we were in the kitchen as i am so not flying!

Right. I know mn is not the place for medical advise but what do people reckon to this. So yesterday AF arrived i thought with some period pains. Now i dont think they are period pains.
I am sore on my right side from belly button height, this is sometimes constant sometimes not there unless i move. Pain worsens on walking / bending / lifting and spread into lower abdomen. Yesterday had some back ache but not now. When i go for a pee i have some pressure and low stomach pains plus the side pain. No fever / sickness etc and it doesnt seem to be getting worse. Pain is around a 7 on 1-10 scale. Any ideas?

LaneBoy · 07/02/2020 04:21

Yikes that sounds horrible that :( no idea what that could be really but I’d get a same day appt and at least get checked for a UTI as symptoms really vary with those and at least it’s easy to rule out/treat.

ta da
✅future friend - to DH really as he’s the one taking Cagletini to nursery :o but anyway her clothes are ready

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/02/2020 06:57

that get it checked asap.UTI or appendix my first thoughts,or bowel issue of some kind. 7/10 is pretty badFlowers

THAT90sBITCH · 07/02/2020 07:04

Damn it. Will phone gp this morning. From what i read appendicitis you usually have sickness quite quickly and i dont feel sick at all so hopefully not that
