Welcome to the first Flylady thread of the decade! This is a friendly ongoing thread where we follow (loosely. In some cases, very loosely. Blush) the Flylady method for sorting out our homes and lives!

Newbies are always welcome here! It’s a long running thread so please don’t worry if we appear cliquey. There’s a lot of chatter and support for all sorts of things, alongside the housework stuff.

Over recent months we have agreed that big lists of daily links aren’t necessary - on a daily basis I will post (if I remember... it is maybe 18 months since I last hosted so please forgive any screw ups Blush) a link to the launch pad, which is where you can access the information for that day - babysteps, missions, daily focus etc. But if you’re confused about anything, please ask!

Check out the website too - but we suggest not signing up for the millions of emails.

Information on getting started here.

The great thing about Flylady is that you jump in where you are. Everything you do is progress. Don’t worry about not “keeping up”. Any achievement, however small, means progress.

Anyway, huge thank you to Stressy for running our very busy December thread! Thanks

And... HAPPY NEW YEAR FLEDGLINGS!!!

THAT90sBITCH · 13/01/2020 11:37

You are a brave lady! Are they boys? Girls? A mix?

My rabble are 11, 10, 6, 3 and 4 months!

There is too much dust in my bedroom which is making its way up my nose Sad

frankincenseandmur · 13/01/2020 11:46

It’s got much easier now they’re a bit older because they listen to me. The first 2 years is a bit of a blur, we barely left the house it was just about getting through the day. I have 2 of each. Yours are lovely ages.

Welcome frankincense good to have you with us.

I'm not sure if he'll achieve that kind of stunning loss kings well done you! But he is weighing himself through the week and does seem to have lost some weight so far.

Need to get some lunch and then do the shopping, spent longer ironing than I'd planned but have school and work shirts done for the week now. Catch you all later.

TooStressyTooMessy · 13/01/2020 12:51

Grin single for life socks

Tinselette1940 · 13/01/2020 13:03

No flying here 😜. Dr thinks it's viral but if temp doesn't go down in 48 hours, I go back to her.

Just the odd pottering.

TooStressyTooMessy · 13/01/2020 13:20

Oh dear Tinselette, hope you feel better soon.

SC, I have fixed my printer issue! In my case it was that I had the multi page setting turned on. I had to go into the print screen then the printer properties to turn it off. Definitely worth you trying the shrink to fit thing too though as my googling told me it could be a number of things. Look at the print menu but also specifically the printer settings menu.

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/01/2020 13:33

Cheery waves to all!

Zoo -wowee that's some list. You got an extra set of octopus arms or something? ??

Welcome frankincense this lot are lovely - im pretty new too and they put up with my whinges! I can't imagine how on earth ypu are managing with 4 babies!! Blimey, ypu got some helpers?

Not done v much today as shattered with a poorly horribly snotty Babe - all night nursing gives me such a sore back. Had a damp specialspecialist round this morning for a couple of hours chatting about the falling apart house so long term good to think we may be making some progress. Will be major works to repair and looks like we will have to move out for a week or two - but I reckon this will be quote nice actually. Stopped me mid sort out of crappy paperwork pile however.. may just put it back where it was!! Albeit slightly thinned out..

Dd slept all night so morning routine went really smoothly for once. Still there when thr bell ringing by hey ho no shouting before we left so counting blessings.

Got a half price organic chicken this morning after school run so I'm pleased about that but it does mean I have to do "proper" cooking which I wasnt planning to today... heard a nice recipe over weekend which dd in the car said sounded good- truly astonished hearing this from miss picky. Chicken pieces with fennel, sliced orange and new potatoes roasted in a tin. Just happen to have fennel happily.

Ta da!
Kids dressed
S &s
Lol x2
Dw
Set fire
Tore up amazon box for fire basket
Nice leftover lunch- cleared fridge out
Meal planning (last night)
Started collating various to do lists - prob 4 on the go atm...
Booked collection of cupboard I cleared tother day.
Damp guy
Endless boobing the babe
Proof read/ edit of dh's essay
Set up funky message board :)

Dh submits his ridiculously late essay shortly and I feel calm will reappear round here at least a little more. Dd will be thrilled - so this is what I wrote about on the boardboard for her to read when we get back home. She's just not that interested in the boring school stories yet adores stories and 'reading ' picture books...

Wrote flylady mission in diary , bathroom cupboards - and will do this later in week.
Not managed to do weekly missions as yet.

To do.
have a look at last terms basic weekly plan - tweak then discuss with dh. Try to get in another evening out solo if poss, thinking maybe a choir. Tonight first night at exercise class leaving him to do bed for both kids. Reckon he needs to up skill!!

Recently re read the mental load and this says just leave ypur fella to learn by himself... ah poor kiddos! !!

Strategicchoring · 13/01/2020 15:33

SC dd2 is a PSYCHO and will wear two unmatched socks as long as clean.makes my teeth itch and she knows drives me so potty to wear docs or slipper boots so I don't have to look at themGrin

TooStressyTooMessy · 13/01/2020 18:09

That article is so true rachael.

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 13/01/2020 20:27

My dc not only wear odd socks but also wear socks with the days on but on a different day to what it says on the socks. Fairly sure they do it on purpose to annoy me.

Got in at 4.45 to find husband had fed the dc and switched the washer from wash to dry and that's it!

So since then I've
Done a load of ironing
Load of washing done and out to dry
Hoovered the whole house
Made my dinner and dc lunches for tomorrow
Mopped downstairs
Cleaned all the windows, mirrors, well all the glass stuff
Polished whole house
Emptied all of the bins
Done the dishes
Sorted the medicine cabinet while waiting for dc2 to get ready to come to the shop
Went to the shop
Just cooking some pasta for my lunch tomorrow and then I'm going to get some college work done.

LaneBoy · 13/01/2020 20:32

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 13/01/2020 21:20

Welcome frank! Rachael, hope the babe is better soon and DH manages bedtime in one piece... Tinselette, hope you are recovering and don't have to go back to the GP. SC, you'll have us all speaking RP at this rate!

Today has been flat out again, not flying but sorting financials.

Ta Das

  • Dog walked
  • Family accounts straightened out and total moratorium on spending anything agreed
  • My business accounts updated
  • Mum's limited company accounts reviewed and list of questions for the accountant handed over
  • Dw rotated and run
  • two laundry loads washed and dried
  • our bed remade
  • (long) chat with DMum about family history (she is very keen atm)
  • client research for 2 hrs
  • DS3 homework
  • DD's Latin lesson (tutor, but still someone in the house)
  • put DS3 to bed while DH had a video conference interview.

Not the most successful flying day, but most things got done. Hope tomorrow will be quieter!

KTCluck · 13/01/2020 21:49

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone. You really are a lovely bunch.

I slept in this morning so instead of exercising and the full morning routine I’d promised myself before bed I actually had to get ready in record time and only just made it to work on time Blush.

DD went to bed pretty easily and I’ve gone to bed leaving a shiny sink so that will have to do. Going to read the weeks missions to hopefully inspire some enthusiasm or when I wake in the morning.

Welcome Frank hope the thread helps. I have 1 2 year old and I’m worn out. You must be superwoman!

Bower singing at the sage must have been amazing.

Hope poorly fledglings / babies are on the mend.
