Welcome to the first Flylady thread of the decade! This is a friendly ongoing thread where we follow (loosely. In some cases, very loosely. Blush) the Flylady method for sorting out our homes and lives!

Newbies are always welcome here! It’s a long running thread so please don’t worry if we appear cliquey. There’s a lot of chatter and support for all sorts of things, alongside the housework stuff.

Over recent months we have agreed that big lists of daily links aren’t necessary - on a daily basis I will post (if I remember... it is maybe 18 months since I last hosted so please forgive any screw ups Blush) a link to the launch pad, which is where you can access the information for that day - babysteps, missions, daily focus etc. But if you’re confused about anything, please ask!

Check out the website too - but we suggest not signing up for the millions of emails.

Information on getting started here.

The great thing about Flylady is that you jump in where you are. Everything you do is progress. Don’t worry about not “keeping up”. Any achievement, however small, means progress.

Anyway, huge thank you to Stressy for running our very busy December thread! Thanks

And... HAPPY NEW YEAR FLEDGLINGS!!!

Passes Tinselettean Elderflower cordial. Hope you start to feel the benefit soon.

Z00 That is fantastic news. That will give her such a boost before the final exams. Do you have Parents In Partnership PIPs down there. We used to have it but not sure if it is still running. It means the parent can take a named person to meetings. They have training and are the "eyes and ears"for the parent so can back up in that type of situation. It also is a parent friend so that the parent doesn't feel as anxious going into a meeting.
Hazel Great list of people I get so far then start to forget who said what some days. I don't geton main computer much and can't scroll back on Ipad as I lose my post a lot of the time.
We3 Great TA DA list yesterday.
Willow the lovely thing about being here is that you can rant away without any making crass remarks. So it is a safe place to rant and sometimes that is all you need to move forward. I really felt for you reading that post.It is so hard sometimes to know what to do.

So I am up early Grin before 8 despite not going to sleep until 4 apart from my 15 -20 minute deep sleep. My eyes want to shut, my mouth wants a cup of tea and my back wants some painkillers. The builder is arriving but I forgot to ask what time.I was up for loo so stayed up now want to sleep.DH slept last night is still asleep. Gp asked after him and was amused when I said he's half man half mattress.Grin
Sometimes I like it because it means I can have some me time before he rises. I'm missing the summerhouse. they never came to fix the door so it is too cold. We are going to ask the joiner to look at it. Things are getting damp down there. Must venture in today.

Right kettle is boiled now so will leave a pot of tea for anyone. Nothing exciting to eat here sorry.

Bowerbird5 · 30/01/2020 08:41

Waves to That things must be going well if you have time to post...in awe of you.Smile

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 30/01/2020 08:51

Tinselette that is correct my name is an old one. Well my name was 3boysandabump and then I changed it when MN did the Xmas name change thingy so I had to keep the bump part for it to be similar.

Bump is 18 months old tomorrow so I'm definitely due a name change!

Fell back to sleep while I was feeding little one this morning. DS3 appeared by my bed 40 mins after I should have been up proudly telling me he had his uniform on, had taken his inhaler and was about to brush his teeth bless him.
I then got completely over invested in my book in the bath 🙈
So not much achieved other than
✔️S&S
✔️LOL
And a quick blast with the hairdryer and slapped some foundation on.

Strategicchoring · 30/01/2020 09:32

Just running in and out again to say "bloomin' well done to your dd2 Zoo and to your dc1 That! Fantastic work both of them! Star Star. And well done to you two for providing backup support.

Oh no Tinselette not a head cold on top of everything else. That's really grim Brew. And not fair.

Willow Smile @ performative teenage angst. Hope he is ok.

Good to know back will recover Bower take it steady

DD is very happy because she has used some Christmas money to buy tickets to see a female performer whose name I don't know who has hair like a badger.

🍒 👋 to all!

SC Billy eilish?(sp?)my girls adore her
That it took me AGES get my head around new system and I'm told a 1 is higher than a* so very elusive, which is unfair if virtually unachievable!!given he doesn't get much homework he must be doing really well in class.you must be dead chuffed!!I get termly updates for lil zoo each subject says -(below average)=(working to expected) and +(above average( naturally depending on topic this fluctuate a bit but she has strong regular pluses so far in music, maths(can't be a zoolet,we all crap at maths),English and ICT.= In pe semi redeems her,if it was a - she would deffo be my child.it a family tradition going back generations to HATE pe.my lot are active.we walk loads, they love to ride bikes and in summer we do loads multiple hour walks, play cricket and tennis

ExpletiveDelighted · 30/01/2020 10:12

I think the thread will be full by tonight, should we start the Feb one a day early? Has anyone volunteered to run it? I could if no one else is lined up.

Well done to DD2 in her mocks Zoo. DS also had some better than expected results in his, hoping the momentum can be maintained through to the summer. Agree about the 9-1 thing being confusing.

ChicCroissant · 30/01/2020 10:25

I don't think anyone else is lined up at the moment Expletive, are you OK to do it? I could at a push but I'm having some health issues again Sad Definitely getting my money's worth out of the NHS at the moment!

Will be back later, but if the thread fills up in the meantime thanks to Lane for a fabulous start to the year with the January thread!

Tinselette1940 · 30/01/2020 11:54

we3kings how lovely that the bump is 18 months! SC am feeling better and head cold receding. I pottered a little in the boudoir, picking up hankies and tidying the floor beside my bed. I'm up and walking around downstairs but I promise I am taking it easy and not trying to clean.

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/01/2020 12:42

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/01/2020 12:43

Ps after this we have just 14 posts left....

Bowerbird5 · 30/01/2020 12:44

Good because my friend tried doing some work and ended up back in bed. That is when I went wrapping. Took her 6weeks to feel anywhere near a bit better. She is rarely ill.
It started with dry and tingly lips whoever's child was feeling like that yesterday. Headaches then moved to muscles.

RANT ALERT!
Well sometimes it really isn't worth ask men to do anything to help is it?
Last night when suggested we put Christmas crockery away because of work being done in house DH said it was too late at 8.45pm. So today he "helped" he huffed and puffed because before we put it away I suggested we move boxes out to suck up dust bunnies. I have a method because he never does this.See whether you think this is mad.
I take out first box, then push second box from one side to side near door as there is room to get it out there. Do the same with 3 and 4. Then I vacuum all that area. Push other boxes over to that area, then vacuum where they were. Slide those boxes back after wiping tops and corners. Vacuum again as sometimes dust bunnies run alongside and jump off onto the newly vacuumed bit. I then clean boxes taken out and position then give a good shove which gets them right across to other side nicely. Then replace others. Then vacuum side near door including very old, beautiful Persian rug from Granny's house.
I gave instructions slowly and in a helpful mannerHmm no he had to take ALL the boxes out stacking them up then moaned when I suggested he needed to vacuum both sides under the bed. got a feather duster and sent dust bunny babies flying around bed room. Got annoyed when I said i used a cloth(then you can trap them) huffed off downstairs and proceeded to bring china up with out helping get boxes back. Did two at my request then off down again. Brought all the china up and buggered off and didn't come back up until I finished all because he asked me if it would all go in there and huffed when I said "Well it all came out of there." Ok it might have been said in a slightly sarcastic voice. Anyway all carefully wrapped in bubble wrap and back under now till next ChristmasConfused
Bloody builder hasn't turned up yet. Mid morning my foot! Why are men so unreliable. I spent hours looking at Pinterest and looking for mosaic glass tiles and found somewhere to deliver next day if you send order before 12. I don't know how much is needed until builder comes. Now they wont come until Monday.
I was squashed into a smaller than I need space on the floor with my bad back and he wonders why I might be a little exasperated with him because he doesn't follow instructions. It is a tried and tested method. I dont feel i have the energy for the rest today.I got up after only 4 1/2 hrs + 15minutes of sleep because the builder was coming.Blah! Bar humbug.

RANT OVER Smile

Tinselette1940 · 30/01/2020 12:55

Crumbs 😲 - I'll heed both your warnings. I'm really not doing much - am in chair with blanket, drinking hot orange juice. I get up and walk around for circulation purposes only. I think there is a temptation to get going when you feel slightly better and you are right, people relapse. I have a med cert to Monday but I suspect that will be extended as not off antibiotics til Tuesday.

Bowerbird5 · 30/01/2020 13:04

Excellent news zoo Gardening is a really good occupation to have for sensitive, anxious people it might lead to a career. BF son went into it straight from school at 16 and loved it. Then he had back problems and they discovered he has a bit of his spine missing.Shock and the Consultant said he needed to give it up. He works with adults with special needs now. A right asset to the company he works for and he takes them on holiday too.

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/01/2020 14:52

bower that's my hope as he needs a direction and feels he will be an authorbut he tends plagiarise ideas and his vocab isn't as florid as dd2 so it would be nigh on impossible dream.i don't want to crush his hopes so am very much hoping a love of horticulture will develop from therapeutic to a passion

Quick tidy of kitchen
Lower floors all swept
Bit tired now, might has a 20 minute lie down

Strategicchoring · 30/01/2020 15:24

Yes take it steady Tinselette Bower and Chic and anyone else feeling fragile.

Bower my dh wouldn't recognise a dust bunny if it jumped up and bit him on the nose! Frustrating when you have a tried and tested routine that is ignored though! Brew

Thread running: Expletive if you are ok to do Feb then I can do March. (I can't do Feb as have guests/job expanding.) Are you sure it's ok though with your increased hours etc?
Very well done to your ds with his mocks! Star

LaneBoy · 30/01/2020 15:25

Not caught up yet. Should I start a new one or does whoever is doing February want to start a little early?

If nobody is doing February (I know sc has volunteered for March) I am happy to anyway.

I am just off to get myself some antibiotics so normal (or what passes for normal) service should be resumed shortly.

Either myself or Expletive can do Feb I think, but yes could start that thread early (only six more message now!).

foxessocks · 30/01/2020 16:04

zoo huge congratulations to your dd! Such good news!
Sorry haven't quite caught up with last page so don't know if I missed anything there.
Zoo thanks for veggie sausage recommendation I have not tried Linda McCartney but have been wondering whether to so that will be next on the list and I love chorizo...

ExpletiveDelighted · 30/01/2020 16:51
