Swish through September 2019 with the fledglings - Flylady thread

Let's swish and swipe our way through September, decluttering as we go with the Flylady! We have a mix of old and new fledglings and everyone is welcome to join us for chat and motivation. Thanks to Stressy for running a fabulous August thread!

The Flylady Launch Pad is the place to start each day - each week focuses on a different zone of the house to clean if you have decluttered it first (can't clean clutter) and you can also follow the Babysteps if you'd like to introduce one new element each day and build on that.

If you like to plan in advance, the weekly Sneak Peek will give you advance notice of the missions and zone coming up, it changes each weekend.

The monthly focus for September is making the bed.

I'm sure your bun efforts will suffice Zoo. Our biggest problem was that DD has a thick blunt fringe which luckily she was allowed to wear loose in class but for shows it had to be plastered back with half a tub of gel.

Well, school holidays feel like a distant memory already . It has been a hectic week, not only back to school and resumption of extra-curricular activities but I had a puncture in Tuesday and DD has had her fixed braces put on and is now wearing a sad-face everytime she thinks of yet another food type that's going to be really hard to eat.

Flying-wise - unfortunately when I got the puncture my car boot was rammed with stuff for the charity shop which all had to be turfed onto the back seat to get the spare wheel out. So yesterday I had a big sort out and 4 binliners worth taken to the shop. I am going to push on with decluttering, it has really built up again Sad.

Hair nets/bun nets - if you have an independent chemist they sometimes have them, Boots used to do them but I don't think they do any more. Can also get them from dancewear suppliers and often the dance school will sell them.

You can probably do it without the bun net, I'm just not neat enough Blush

I'm not bad at sewing the elastics and ribbons, I have seen others get it wrong though - there is something about ballet in particular that makes them very exacting on the details!

I am hoping that my test results are in today as I'm not feeling great this morning. Will drink lots and hope for improvement!

One load of laundry done, another load in machine now. Going to get some proper breakfast instead of handfuls of dried fruit bacon calling alluringly from fridge tbh

Flap on, fledglings!

How are we doing? I've done my two loads of laundry for today (my current aim to clear a bit of a backlog) but not much else tbh.

My test results came back clear (no infection) so I am being referred elsewhere for more tests - DH has already said he'll come with me and I can take painkillers in the meantime.

Catch you later!

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/09/2019 16:30

Almost half a can hairspray to get it that controlled....

Lisette1940 · 12/09/2019 17:37

Both are lovely but pic one has the edge.

TooStressyTooMessy · 12/09/2019 18:33

Good luck lilzoo if it is tonight! I would hope that hair would be fine for a trial, it looks good. If it is wispy gel might make it easier next time.

Bowerbird5 · 12/09/2019 19:54

Zoo cats bum face🤣

Great hair. Your kids look very similar from the back😁

Just watching Helen Skelton about scams really interesting as I have had attempted scams including one from HMRC which really upset me and made me feel very vulnerable. It was really convincing and he told me I was going to be arrested. It was only when he told me to take some money out that I twigged.

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/09/2019 20:47

Well....she LOVED the class and has decided not to bother with other(closer to home) trial.someone else started tonight although they moved up from grade one
Teachers happy her to be in grade two,not too big class, she's not biggest in the class, hard to tell if oldest.she came out rosy cheeked with face splitting grin and declared she was staying❤️
I nervously ask hair was ok and teacher exclaimed it was perfect and "mum's will have you in a corner helping for exams and performances" I turned beetrootBlushI noted lots kids had ponytails, but she was keen for lil zoo to keep her bunSmile
We discussed on way home about other(closer to home) trial but she's worried she will miss a week to do that as it's same day in other school.we found it to be a 45 min stroll,so bet can do it in 30-35 faster speedand dad can do some drops and pick ups
She's been excitedly showing me what she's learned, remembering some of the terminology and she was so absorbed try get me to do it too.like a fire been lit under her!she's bit fretful not as flexible nor knows all terminology ,but i said it will get easier.i pointed out some may have been dancing since could walk and she's just starting at nearly 12!!

Just fed them huge corned beef salad baps, fruit, yogurt and crisps she's now in shower!!

Just wanted say thanks to everyone who offered encouragement/advice!!it seems I am now a dance mumGrin

Lisette1940 · 12/09/2019 20:53

Aw bless! Congrats on being a dance mum zoo. That's just wonderful.

I spent and hour and a half standing pitchside tonight. Hot tea!

ExpletiveDelighted · 12/09/2019 21:04

Yay! That's lovely news Zoo

TooStressyTooMessy · 12/09/2019 22:00

Sorry to hear you are still unwell Chic.

Bower, yes the scams can be so realistic can’t they Sad.

Yay zoo GrinGrinGrin. So exciting. I may be a bit over-invested in this Smile. Love hearing dancing stories.

In other dance news I went to my first tap class and loved it Smile.

Lots and lots of school paperwork and general stuff to sort out here but at 10pm I don’t think I’m going to be starting it now!

ExpletiveDelighted · 12/09/2019 22:04

That's great Stressy - I love my tap classes too.

Bowerbird5 · 12/09/2019 23:03

zoo Ta Da! Great news. 🤔Wonders if there are any of DDs pink ballet leotards in craft ( extremely messy )room. Let me know if you need pink and I will have a look. Might be other colours but it was pink for exams up here. My cousins granddaughter has just been to a summer school with the Russian ballet! I didn’t know she was that talented.

Chic sorry you are unwell.

Not much done but did tidy kitchen. Still trying to dry washing. Have some over Everhot bar so will have warm tights for tomorrow.😁

Hope you are ok I’ve not heard from you expect you’re busy but missing your humour.

Waves to Lisette coming up your way next month.

ChicCroissant · 12/09/2019 23:45

DD's size 5 tap shoes still fit at the moment I think we have a black pair of 4.5 shoes if anyone needs them instead of the size 5. I think I have some satin ballet shoes as well, I will check the size.

IVE I hope you are getting lots of lovely baby cuddles and Laputa, hope you are doing OK as well.

We've almost made it to Friday - yay! Launch Pad link here Babystep 13 (do a mission) and we are finishing off in the Kitchen zone.

Sleep well and I'll see you tomorrow morning.
