Swish through September 2019 with the fledglings - Flylady thread

ChicCroissant · 30/08/2019 13:40

Let's swish and swipe our way through September, decluttering as we go with the Flylady! We have a mix of old and new fledglings and everyone is welcome to join us for chat and motivation. Thanks to Stressy for running a fabulous August thread!

The Flylady Launch Pad is the place to start each day - each week focuses on a different zone of the house to clean if you have decluttered it first (can't clean clutter) and you can also follow the Babysteps if you'd like to introduce one new element each day and build on that.

If you like to plan in advance, the weekly Sneak Peek will give you advance notice of the missions and zone coming up, it changes each weekend.

The monthly focus for September is making the bed.

Actually SC intervention is probably necessary but I was trying to say that they are nearly gone.

I hadn't heard of Stroopwaffels until recently zoo. Ds put me on to them. Big in the Netherlands.

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/09/2019 09:49

If you insist zoo ........

☃️🎁🎄🤶🎅🦌

I have never heard of stroopwaffles?

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/09/2019 09:51

! Not ?

Lisette given that I am living in a country where waffles are omnipresent, I can happily send you top-up despatches when supplies get low Grin (although those look like they are an unusual shape!). My neighbour in the country makes traditional ones with a tiny waffle iron, then hands out mugs of Belgian hot chocolate to dip 'em in... they are delish...but mainly served to the kinder sadly!

Lisette1940 · 26/09/2019 09:59

Thank you SC. They are usually rounder I'll admit 😁. I broke my waffle maker the other day, much to my annoyance. I have heard great things about Liege waffles

Solitarycaddis · 26/09/2019 10:07

Oooh I will have to investigate the Liege variety! I only know (and make) their salad .

Lisette1940 · 26/09/2019 10:08

Okay, I've decluttered my wardrobe
Emptied dishwasher
Load of laundry
Child despatched to school

Zone four work later to include dusting skirting boards and intense Hoover. Will dust from ceiling and move methodically around the room as per organised mum advice.

It's really dark and gloomy here with rain. I am determined to get out for a walk whatever the weather.

I also need to stretch.

I am a complete novice at running a thread but I've been trying to get to grips with links and to shadow what Chic has been doing. I'm away for a bit of October so could I tentatively offer to run a thread in November?

Solitarycaddis · 26/09/2019 10:23

Oh that is very kind of you Lisette! If I do Oct, and you do Nov, then we only need some kind person to volunteer for Dec and the thread has survived another year!

Right must stop ironing with one hand and mumsnetting with the other and crack on Grin

Lisette1940 · 26/09/2019 10:37

Be delighted to, if that's okay.

Tidyhomewannabe · 26/09/2019 10:52

Thanks hope you are both feeling better soon laputa & zoo!

I have never heard of these waffles - I will now be in the hunt for them !

Thanks for your well wishes, I couldn't hold it together anymore and had a full blown crying evening/night on Tuesday and I feel so much better for it, I kept it together for weeks to get mil and oh through the funeral and comforting the children, it takes it's toll in other areas. Funny what a good crying session does! I felt less tense and a lot more like myself since then .

Ta da
Beds made
Washing done and out on the line
Kids fed, clean and at school
Tidied living room
Ironed any dry uniform (saves a weekend job if I have to go up to mums if she's poorly, she started another round of chemo yesterday, ironing today means I can relax a little knowing at least they'll have uniform for Monday)

To do
Fold dry washing and put away before picking up dd2 from nursery at 11.10 ...........

Lisette1940 · 26/09/2019 13:10

Tidy apologies, just catching up with your news. So sorry Flowers.

Ta da
Stew in oven for long slow cook.
More laundry!

Stretching session ahead. Then zone 4.

LivingInLaputa · 26/09/2019 13:14

DH got me some fancy hot chocolate recently, I need to get one of those little hand held milk frothers and then some stroopwafels to have with it 😍

Throat still annoying me but I managed playgroup, our family support worker runs it and wants me to go every week.

It’s a secondary school open day this evening. The school where DD is likely to go if we apply soon because it’s the only one with spaces. Such a hard choice because there are reasons it has spaces IYKWIM. However, while results are bad I have heard incredibly good things about their SN support unit, which is where I’d hope DD would be spending a lot of time. Most of the other schools don’t have that.

Solitarycaddis · 26/09/2019 13:17

Sounds like you have a lot of really difficult things going on at the moment Tidy. You must be torn all ways. Flowers

Lisette about thread running - that would be fab! Smile

Oops I have been very badly behaved this morning and got lost down a Mimsnetting rabbit hole when I should have been prepping. DD and friend making their own way by train and just realised oops dh picking me and furries up in an hour (oh dear) and he hates being late. Yikkkess!

foxessocks · 26/09/2019 16:14

All your talk of these waffles is making me very hungry! I've never tried them either...🤔

I keep waking up at 4am so I am tired. Brew BrewBrew

The dc are painting in the kitchen and I'm hiding because I don't want to see the mess they're making.

Lisette1940 · 26/09/2019 16:28

foxes I read that as 'The dc are painting the kitchen' Grin. Gosh Foxes is brave, I thought. I'm sure my 10 year old would love to paint the kitchen!

Bowerbird5 · 26/09/2019 16:49

Ha Ha! I thought that too Lisette and had to reread it.
Tidy so sorry to hear some of your difficulties. You can always come on here for Tea and sympathy and never mind the Ta Das. We're here for you.

It is amazing how inviting someone around (even to just pick you up) focuses the mind on cleaning. So I was up early about 7am after late ish night. 11:30 -11:45pm.

Wash done.
Wipe down kitchen and put away pans.
Wash dish rack.
Vacuum all downstairs
Wash floor in kitchen stand in cat bowl to add to water.
Empty cat fur and dust clogged vacuum.
Wipe up bits I missed and vowed to do it outside in future. Wipe fridge, wipe bin.
Make bed.
Swish and swipe bathroom. Put clean towels out in case visitor wants a wee.
Wipe down all kitchen work tops and put wash rack back together. Tidy around hot spots.
Wash self and get changed. Ready for pick up at 10am.
Tried to organise buffet. Went for coffee to mull over options drew up list with friend. We are catering for 45 this weekend.

Lovely to have you back Laputa.
Hope you and zoo are feeling better soon.

MMMStroopwafels yumyum.

Bowerbird5 · 26/09/2019 16:52

DH has finally let me know where he is. On a train. He has been AWOL for nearly a day. He was supposed to get home yesterday but flight was cancelled due to fog and he didn't know what time he would get flight today beginning to wonder if he was holed up in some Scottish Hostelry somewhere!Confused

foxessocks · 26/09/2019 18:20

Well the mess they made they practically did paint the kitchen! 🤦

Bowerbird5 · 26/09/2019 19:49

I painted with 28 6yr olds a few weeks ago. It was better than i expected and only one spill of water. Sad

Solitarycaddis · 26/09/2019 20:21

LivingInLaputa · 26/09/2019 21:47

Open evening a success! Pretty sure we will go for it, but still need to start EHCP process first. The SN support is huge there and DD loved it. They also offer dance GCSE so she’s somewhat in love! I’m a bit overwhelmed by the whole thing really.

ChicCroissant · 26/09/2019 21:49

I am back! Internet went off at midnight last night and has only just come back on with new provider - lovely. I think we have all missed YouTube Blush Will catch up with the thread now ....

OP posts:
Tidyhomewannabe · 26/09/2019 22:18

I've posted a few times today and they've disappeared - I don't know how I've managed that Grin

Lots of tadas today, even managed to sit and watch a bit of a film with oh this evening , which hardly ever happens lately so a lovely day overall! Came upstairs to read now , settles my brain before sleep.

Welcome back chic, glad your internet wasn't off for long .

Fab laputa! Do you feel more settled about the school now you've visited?

Thanks sc & bower Thanks

Bowerbird5 · 26/09/2019 23:01

Grin it's supposed to be pleasure SC. Just a buffet we were hoping a small very good supermarket chain we were going to make some platters for us but no they only do them at Christmas. We don't really want to carry shed loads of food 1 1/2-2 hrs in the car especially as pal has a huge dog in their van who might be quite partial to food. So we have made a plan B.
Top list for you SC.
Our house is starting to resemble a looked after home. Not completely lots of room for improvement.

*Laputa that sounds promising. GCSE in dance whoo whooo!

Tidy It seems to happen regularly and always, always when it is a long post - bloody annoying.
We all seem to have had a relatively productive day. YeaH us!
