Swish through September 2019 with the fledglings - Flylady thread

Let's swish and swipe our way through September, decluttering as we go with the Flylady! We have a mix of old and new fledglings and everyone is welcome to join us for chat and motivation. Thanks to Stressy for running a fabulous August thread!

The Flylady Launch Pad is the place to start each day - each week focuses on a different zone of the house to clean if you have decluttered it first (can't clean clutter) and you can also follow the Babysteps if you'd like to introduce one new element each day and build on that.

If you like to plan in advance, the weekly Sneak Peek will give you advance notice of the missions and zone coming up, it changes each weekend.

The monthly focus for September is making the bed.

I am back, have a prescription for some meds which I will go out and get shortly. Fortunately no invasive tests today as they thought it would be too painful so I've got a few weeks respite! But very reassuring, even if it wasn't quite the one-stop shop that was promised.

Will catch up with the thread later, really should do some work at home Blush

We went to the toddler group, there was indeed a new baby bower! Sadly one of the ladies there had a stroke last week so I made sure to write in her card as well. I've been going to this group since dd was a tiny baby so it was nice to show my face again as I don't get to go much now.

Went to the post office and shop too and managed to miss most of the heavy downpours sc! I bet it will rain on the school run this afternoon though.

Carys bower we changed our mind on dd name as she didn't look like what we had picked 😂 but ds was pretty much a definite all along because we both just always wanted that name so that was ok!

I need some get up and go...two hours ish before school run to get on top of this housework!

We are probably about to embark on a lot of house renovation so I can't be bothered to spend much time cleaning the bathroom for example if we're about to rip it out. It's an excellent excuse!

Bowerbird5 · 24/09/2019 13:40

It rained a lot here last night. I took my raincoat but as village you can almost park outside the dentist and butchers opposite and gift shop a few doors along. So I didn’t get caught. In for the rest of the day.

Need to get off the bed and go and make a cake for afternoon tea. Wish I had thought to get some ham and make sandwiches. I could do some egg or tuna.

Carys yes I know the feeling. I chose DS3 as the boys saw me in labour and said I had done all the work so I should get to pick. With DD I didn’t think DH was going to stick around so I chose it as I was I’ll he agreed. She likes it though it suddenly became popular which was annoying. She uses the two names for her Art work and drops the surname which I don’t like either. Mine was much nicer.

Chic Great news. Although you might have preferred to get it over with today. Hope the meds help.

Bowerbird5 · 24/09/2019 15:40

Just got soaked nipping out to feed Henny. Cleaned her out while I was there and it decided to chuck it down. Nipped out with no coat...dopey!

Friend just called but the cake wasn't ready damn. Told her she will have to come over again to have some. Brr it has got colder too.

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/09/2019 17:24

Carys dp picked dd2+3 and we loved name and it suited them.ds was chosen at 36/7 weeks after he fell in love with neo (matrix fan)and set his heart on it then my uncle said"what neo,as in neo nazi?" I was like.erm no ditches name and took us ages to find another we liked.all three have very unusual/outing names so I can't really say what they are!!dd1(different dad) wanted names like Deborah(a have a NC sister with that name..)or Lorraine.shw was due Xmas and I liked Holly but he felt it a bit crass.many an arguement later we got it down to two and day before was born I saw one was most common name in our region, other was second...I picked number 2 and I spent her childhood whistling her in public as shout her name half a dozen kids turned heads!!

foxessocks · 24/09/2019 18:37

Love all the how you chose your dc name stories ☺️ dd was from a book I was reading when I was pregnant and I loved it but we had another option which we preferred until we saw her and thought no it doesn't fit! And ds is just a really traditional name which we have always both liked.

Oh this is making me wistful I loved choosing names!!

This evening I made salmon, potato wedges and peas and sweetcorn but then I proceeded to tip all the veg down the sink by accident 🤦🤦 there was enough for the dc left but none for me and dh!!

Also ta das...haven't done ta das for ages...

Made an apple cake
Put some more stuff on eBay
Laundry
Dishwasher

Hmm not as much as I thought 🤔

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/09/2019 18:57

My planned stew went out the window as lil zoo wasn't bothered so they had very soft bread and butter.ds had a piece of cheese.lil zoo is making fruit salad at school tomorrow if well enough so she's now chopping apricot, strawberries, apple and black grapes and complaining it's "not exoric enough"she should have orange and kiwi (allergy issues)apple, grapes and one other fruit ...

Solitarycaddis · 24/09/2019 18:59

Ta da:
Wm loads 3 & 4 hung up
2 more on
Lunch served and cleared up (2 dw loads loaded and one emptied)
Trip out to chemist, lab shop with dd, and bank all in pouring rain
Came home and felt shivery and achey; hope it's not the flu
More admin/paperwork

So glad appt wasn't too bad Chic and hope meds do their stuff!

Foxes I have been using that renovation excuse for nigh on 20 years! Grin. Hope you didn't get soaked again this afternoon!

cold here too!

Carys/Zoo/Bower/Foxes we didn't use our prepared name for DD either as it didn't suit her. And my other favourites didn't work in the native langs where we live (Dutch & French) so we ended up going for the name of a favourite Aunt. Love the name Carys btw!

CarysRed · 24/09/2019 22:22

Just to update you all! I’m in labour. They’re happy to let it progress naturally but I’ve been given steroids for his lungs. Fingers crossed he’s here soon!

I am shattered so will head off for an early-ish night.

Launch Pad and Babystep about reading the Flylady's own testimonial.

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/09/2019 07:53

Ah hes lovely. Good size for a few weeks early too. Congrats Flowers

ExpletiveDelighted · 25/09/2019 08:02

Congratulations Carys Flowers

CarysRed · 25/09/2019 08:09

Oops should say 5lbs 13oz. The midwives were saying he’s big for a 35 weeker, but DP was 10lbs when he was born so I think he takes after him!

LivingInLaputa · 25/09/2019 08:46

Ohmygosh soooo gorgeous! Congratulations and welcome to the thread.

Hello to all. Sorry I missed your birthday chic

I’m still lurking now and then.

Ended up soaked from rain yesterday and now have a horribly sore throat, I’ve not managed to get to the steam room for a few weeks but I’m making the effort to go twice today as that normally helps a lot. Not even going to swim, and I’ve cancelled the yoga class I booked last night, I ache all over, but the steam room is so useful.

I completed all the stuff I had to do for the psychiatrist - the screening form took hours and was somewhat depressing as it’s basically a checklist of all the things I’m rubbish at 🙈 but it’s done and I’ve dropped the form plus an ECG printout at the office, now I just have to wait.

We have our family support worker coming today too, but she’s awesome. I said see you Wednesday, please excuse the messy house and she replied “I’m here to see you guys not your housework” :o ❤️

Lisette1940 · 25/09/2019 08:56

Congrats carys!!

Family support worker sounds fab Laputa.

Busy day here.

LivingInLaputa · 25/09/2019 09:02

She’s truly ace lisette she’s also really sweary 😂 I like that. None of this airy fairy patronising nonsense ❤️

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/09/2019 09:30

Laputa I like a down to earth person.too easy to be judgy pants when you are in social support(in my experience) and the temptation to look at their lives with fine tooth comb I bet houses aren't spotless and teens did wild things still!!I had a HV who was fab!she admitted her son ate a kiwi, skin and all,as she forgot to peel it/show him how to eat it aged 4 and her kids are dry pasta if tea wasn't quick enough!we got on like a house on fireGrin

Carys utterly edible is all I can say!!my D's was 5lb 11 at 40 weeks(placenta was failing, ended in c section after failed induction) he was so small I loved fact he was little so much longer than the girls.hes 14 in December and most certainly not little anymore!!enjoy new baby cuddles

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/09/2019 09:31

*ate not are ....

Solitarycaddis · 25/09/2019 09:41
