Swish through September 2019 with the fledglings - Flylady thread

ChicCroissant · 30/08/2019 13:40

Let's swish and swipe our way through September, decluttering as we go with the Flylady! We have a mix of old and new fledglings and everyone is welcome to join us for chat and motivation. Thanks to Stressy for running a fabulous August thread!

The Flylady Launch Pad is the place to start each day - each week focuses on a different zone of the house to clean if you have decluttered it first (can't clean clutter) and you can also follow the Babysteps if you'd like to introduce one new element each day and build on that.

If you like to plan in advance, the weekly Sneak Peek will give you advance notice of the missions and zone coming up, it changes each weekend.

The monthly focus for September is making the bed.

Hello me darlins'! Hope everyone ok.

[Second attempt at writing a post on here and not have it eaten!]

[Leaves Ned a platter of hob nobs in naughty corner in an attempt to lure him back in.]

Summer was really great (very hot at times with record breaking temperatures) full of long- and short-stay visitors (despite my resolutions to the contrary) travel and building works , many horsey activities, and very sadly the death of a much loved member of the extended family and potentially serious illness of bil (but still having tests). Overall it was good though.

Just adjusting to a life back in town sans 🐎. Is it wrong to say I miss him almost more than DH when we are parted? Grin Grin. Me and he of the long face (horse not DH Grin) have bonded even more this summer and my heart is firmly glued to his 💕 even though he can be a bit of a naughty boy Grin and is testing my physical and mental strength and patience daily.

Happily, it is very quiet and peaceful in town today as it's car-free Sunday. The silence is deafening! Smile. Have been back for a bit but very busy. Sat and passed lang exam for French nationality last week (phew), caught up with friends the next (yay) and spent most of Fri at DD school, helping with org of Mass to celebrate start of new academic year in morning and doing Parents Assoc stuff (for which I have volunteered this year) the rest of the afternoon.

Busy in other areas of life, so much so, that I will be using the rest of today making lists and charts and filling in calenders etc to help me plan it all. Renovation wreck2 going on a pace (for which we need to make multitude of scary expensive decisions, eek), nationality dossier to complete and submit (the paperwork required is mad) continuing to seriously declutter wreck1 and decorate/renovate (where affordable) , loads of gardening happening wreck2 (having cleared old borders of nettles and brambles, have ton of bulbs and naturalistic woodland border to plant), new (small) business venture to plan for two years hence, Christmas presents to make (going eco this year and using up fabric stash to make presents) , new diet & exercise regime to follow, dhorse and dogs to continue to train, lang studies to continue, and new history of art course to start (possibly) and parents assoc work to do. So lots of it enjoyable but quite a bit to pack in.

All of the above means I have less time to Mumsnet but still up for running Oct thread , but after that ... who knows ... .

Immediately though need to investigate and unpack and sort all the bags and boxes still sitting in the hall and start huge amounts of washing (still washing last of bedding and towels used by summer visitors).

Really sorry to hear that things are tough going for a number of fledglings currently.

Chic so sorry that you are still feeling ill. Hope diagnosis is not as bad as you fear Flowers. And hope Strictly took your mind off things for a bit last night! (I watched it despite thinking I wouldn't be interested this year with Pasha and Darcy gone, and thought it was actually quite good after all!)

Laputa sorry things still rubbish generally and hope meds help eventually. Flowers Also, sorry to hear your DD suffering with female issues which must be really tough for her. It's so crap and unfair really. Can really sympathise as DD still suffering with bad pain despite various different meds. Wondering if teens can get endometriosis?

Bower sorry that everything continues to be so awful at work. Hope the time off helps a little bit Flowers. Love the sound of all the gardening.

Lisette that sounds really tough going re: family issues and again, really unfair Flowers. Your granny sounds like she was a wonderful person. Smile

Zoo oh no about your neighbour's dgd. Hope she is ok. Hope your foot healing well. And sorry to hear about dd2 school stress.

Wow Expletive your DD sounds like a brilliant cook!

Hope today proves more productive Toostressy

And hope new born (and you) and all rest of siblings are thriving I've!

Big waves to Foxes , Tidy, Honu and anyone else I have missed!

Had better go. Dd complaining loudly about clutter in hall and how she felt embarrassed by it when her friends called around for her yesterday. I agreed with her that it was bad and apologized profusely but when I asked for help carrying it all upstairs (at least three trips up four flight) and asked if she could possibly carry her suitcases up to her room, she immediately started complaining loudly about something else ... . [Hmm

Wishing you all a lovely Sunday! Smile

Solitarycaddis · 22/09/2019 20:06

[oh dear, have obviously killed the thread, had better go away again 🖐️]

Lisette1940 · 22/09/2019 20:17

You haven't SC Grin. We're lurking!

TooStressyTooMessy · 22/09/2019 20:44

I’m still here Smile. Just putting DD1 to bed, DD2 is asleep already. Laundry nearly under control for now. Tidied a bit of a cupboard today (that is more than it sounds; it’s a big cupboard!).

SC, that sounds as if you are getting organised for autumn / winter! I hope all your visitors were not horrifically stressful as I do remember you saying you were going to cut down on that Grin.

I am debating sitting and watching telly with Gin. I almost never do that. I watch loads of telly but it is on my phone while I do something else. Only actually have enough gin for a half measure (do not fear, it has gone on the shopping list Grin) but I could sip it slowly. Very very unusual to be nearly ‘finished’ at this hour for me but we had a quietish day for once so could get stuff done that way.

SC, you don’t have a link for that thread you mentioned on my thread about communication do you? No worries if not as I think your explanation made sense.

Solitarycaddis · 22/09/2019 21:16

Phew Lisette assumed I had bored everyone to death by wittering on far too much as usual Grin

You have definitely earned that gin by the sound of it Toostressy! That particular thread is pages and pages long but I will try and pm you with relevant section. I should have done so earlier because I don't think I explained it very well/accurately! Confused

TooStressyTooMessy · 22/09/2019 21:53

Thanks SC, don’t worry too much if you can’t find it though.

Spoke too soon about being finished. By that point had lost interest in gin so had crisps and skittles instead! Going to find something to watch on my phone in bed instead.

Solitarycaddis · 22/09/2019 22:00

No worries Toostressy I'll have a look tomorrow!

ChicCroissant · 22/09/2019 23:50

Sorry, have been out for a lot of the day and looking at jobs this evening.

Waves to all fledglings, party in the naughty corner tomorrow so I will stock it tomorrow morning.

Link to Launch Pad and Babystep which is the afternoon/early evening routine.

Zone for next week is the Master Bedroom and the dreaded job of clearing the floordrobe ...

Sleep well!

Master bedroom.eeeek

Solitarycaddis · 23/09/2019 07:09

Welcome to Autumn everyone!

Oooh a party?

Boudoir tidy-ish (for once) - well as tidy as it ever gets - but still have loads of clothing and suitcases to put away and bedroom chair is covered in piles of stuff of course. Really need to get rid as no one sits on it and it's just a vessel for crap.

Hope job search going well Chic!

IVEgottheDECAF · 23/09/2019 08:10

ChicCroissant · 23/09/2019 09:30

Good morning fledglings - it's my birthday, it's my birthday, gonna party like it's my birthday Grin I've had a delicious breakfast which is about the extent of the celebrations today as I am still a tad nervous about the medical investigations tomorrow (could have been worse, could have been today!).

Back to normal now, laundry, washing up, ironing - let's attack this week before it attacks us!

Isn't it usually Foxes who brings the party rings?

[Makes strong Brew for I've]

ChicCroissant · 23/09/2019 10:06

Oooh, party rings!

I'm not expecting bad news tomorrow, just a bit of undignified prodding. I've had worse, I'll survive!

Happy birthday chic GinCake

Bowerbird5 · 23/09/2019 11:03

Happy , Happy Birth Chic.

SC I had written a long post on the ipad just after you posted and lost the lot arrggh it seems to be doing that a lot lately. Anyway briefly I loved hearing all your news. I had a bit about dhorse. oh I know I was saying that I ditched my first boyfriend for dhorse. He kept arriving at 4pm because he was working nearby (friend's brother) and I normally got home about 4:15 from school and had a quick snack, change and went riding for up to two hours a night. Despite hints he kept coming around ALL the time, he was very intense, so I ended it. His sister wouldn't come riding or speak to me anymore. That taught me a lesson.

So yesterday was mixed feelings. Today I feel sick to my stomach but can't discuss. A friend brought me some beautiful, yellow roses last night. I am really struggling.

I did say yesterday " Is enjoying cleaning a sign of depression?" as I thought that while washing the bathroom floor by hand.

Will start on boudoir presently making another drink for summerhouse. I am sorting and decluttering down there in the sun. Magazines.

Try and have a nap in the afternoon I've while the others are at school or have you another little one at home as well as baby. At the very least a lie down with books.

Bowerbird5 · 23/09/2019 11:05

OooH what happened to the day. This could start a rumour between fledglingsShock

Watching TV on phones what new fangled thing is this?

Solitarycaddis · 23/09/2019 11:23

Bower so sorry everything is so horrible ATM with work. Hope the day gets better for you Flowers Thank heavens for supportive friends.

Yes, my tablet does that a lot too (eats posts). And Mumsnet seems to have lots of glitches currently.

Definitely feeling bereft without dhorse today but it helps knowing that my farmer friends who look after him love him loads too! Grin

I think that shows quite a lot of maturity to elbow a bf in favour of a hobby at that age! DD has just given her bf the old heave ho but won't talk about reasons why. He unfortunately failed his exams so has moved schools so it perhaps came to a natural end. They only went out to cinema/bowling/skating/Starbucks together so not romance of the century or anyrhing heavy, but still, first love and all of that! I am making her lots of cake ... .

Flying slowly so far today ...

TooStressyTooMessy · 23/09/2019 12:41

Bower FlowersBrew.

Happy birthday Chic Smile!

Bowerbird5 · 23/09/2019 14:13

Sounds similar to my relationship. I wouldn't regard him as my first love so rarely think of him. He was just too intense. He was about 18/19 and I was 17 and still at school because of travelling and schooling in different countries I didn't leave school until I was 18yr & 7mth by then I had had a first love with someone a few years older.

I am off work again this week. GP signed me off for a few weeks and I may need longer. At the moment I can't see me going back. Maybe a few weeks off will help me decide.

Bowerbird5 · 23/09/2019 14:14

I got interrupted.

Are you having a lovely day Chic?

ChicCroissant · 23/09/2019 14:36

No rush to return Bower, it's better to get yourself sorted first and then decide what you want to do. Flowers

I have done nothing today, bit of a YouTube loop! DH told me he'd ordered flowers so I have been waiting for them to arrive - still not here! I was planning to get myself a nice lunch but have raided the fridge instead. Would have liked a long shower/hair wash but that always makes the doorbell ring so have avoided it! Need to collect DD now and take her out later.

Got blood test results from the GP, although normal blood count is OK something else has shown up so maybe my family history of auto-immune stuff has finally caught up with me. I hope all is revealed tomorrow!

Just to add to the sense of chaos (should really have worked today on the house!) we are changing phone and internet providers later this week so if I go very quiet, I've probably just lost the service for a few hours. Most irritatingly, the new provider says we have to change the phone number and haven't given us the new one yet Hmm

Happy birthday chic!

Sc funnily enough I do have some party rings leftover from ds birthday, they aren't as nice as they used to be!

🎁🎂🎉

Bowerbird5 · 23/09/2019 17:59

Union rep has been in touch today. She is pretty good I had an early email from her.

Haven't done much today since it is CHIC 's B'day! That is my excuse. Son 1 came around to check up on me. Had a cup of tea then he was going for a swim before work at 5pm.

Think I might go and see if any fairies have tidied the boudoir and if not I guess I better do some. Aren't fleeces and coats bulky and a nuisance when they wont fit anywhere. They take up three times the amount of room in the drawer.
