Swish through September 2019 with the fledglings - Flylady thread

Let's swish and swipe our way through September, decluttering as we go with the Flylady! We have a mix of old and new fledglings and everyone is welcome to join us for chat and motivation. Thanks to Stressy for running a fabulous August thread!

The Flylady Launch Pad is the place to start each day - each week focuses on a different zone of the house to clean if you have decluttered it first (can't clean clutter) and you can also follow the Babysteps if you'd like to introduce one new element each day and build on that.

If you like to plan in advance, the weekly Sneak Peek will give you advance notice of the missions and zone coming up, it changes each weekend.

The monthly focus for September is making the bed.

Heat oil in a large stockpot over medium-high heat. Add onion and carrots and sauté for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and translucent. Add garlic and sauté for 1 more minute, stirring occasionally, until fragrant.
Stir in the vegetable stock, lentils, corn, cumin, curry powder (plus saffron and cayenne, if using) until combined. Continue cooking until the soup reaches a simmer. Then cover and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the lentils are completely tender.
Using either a hand blender or traditional blender, puree the soup until it reaches your desired consistency. Add juice and zest of one lemon and salt and pepper and heat through.

Lisette1940 · 14/09/2019 18:40

It's the corn and lemon that makes this soup great. Made it today and though I'd pass it on.

Bowerbird5 · 14/09/2019 18:42

I’m First. Yeah! Lovely 💕 snuggly little bundle. Thank you for cuddles.
Holds on to baby I’ve until someone else pops in. 👶

Zoo I said I was awake not up! There is a difference.

Eventually had another hour or so. Headaching with thoughts whirring around.
Completed all summer house tasks and swept. 20C here.
Washing done. School clothes done but won’t need them next week.
Plan for decluttering in head.
Washed up friend’s dishes and loaded dishwasher as she had nine for lunch bacon and egg butties. She cooked with a hangover so I did dishes and work top while she comatosed on sofa with small fry. GS2&3 GS3 smiled and clapped hands at me today.🤗 does friend’s dishes count as a TaDa?

Gardening.
🧹
Need to vacuum and do one bag declutter school crap tonight.
Then ironing pile to tackle.
Need to make food.

Zoo I was wondering that about buddleias I think we have five now. We planted one Black Knight.😳 a white one has sprouted near school and I was eyeing it up. Can you propagate from a cutting? I fancy a white one. The rest are common.
Black Knight should be spring but I think it will break if left in winter winds. How low do you go I have always been leaving them but last year cut two back. Going to try to be ruthless this year.

I’ve 🧙‍♀️ witchcraft indeed. Think she put them in the cauldron and sang “ Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble.

Bowerbird5 · 14/09/2019 18:44

Thanks Lisette, hides baby inside dressing gown.

ExpletiveDelighted · 14/09/2019 18:46

Buddleia self seeds in our garden. I am ruthless with it in spring, take it down from about 8' high to 2' every year. In Feb when I do it the main stems are covered in little shoots so I imagine it would propagate well in spring.

Bowerbird5 · 14/09/2019 18:46

Damn so slow at typing.

ED: no you can prune some in Autumn it depends what type.

foxessocks · 14/09/2019 19:24

I've aww I hope everything is going okay?

Finally got dd some new school shoes today Blush wow, nearly fainted at the cost Shock we were feeling very generous and let her get the patent ones she has been going on about which no doubt be ruined in about a day Grin

I like the sound of that soup recipe!

IVEgottheDECAF · 14/09/2019 20:05

Hi everyone. Love this thread! In the last 2 pages we have gardening tips, cooking information, general chat, new baby snuggles and the occasional bit of flying Smile.

Bower, friend’s dishes totally counts. zoo, amazing to have all uniforms washed! foxes, I actually think patent shoes are more hardwearing as long as they are good quality. Clarks also sells patent restorer / repair (looks like a little bottle of black nail polish!) which is fab. I’ve used it on many a to shoe actually!

Flying ta da: read through a load of school paperwork and put some school dates in calendar.

Lisette1940 · 14/09/2019 21:51

I've to hang a picture tomorrow in ds's room. Tidy spare room, do a rubbish cull.

Thought today was Sunday so delighted to find another whole day ahead before Monday!

ChicCroissant · 15/09/2019 00:09

Patent shoes seem fairly bombproof IME, DD has worn holes in the soles of shoes before wrecking the tops. I think they will last well.

Good evening fledglings! I have made a note of the recipe, I love lentils.

Launch Pad link for Sunday and the Babystep is make your bed as soon as you get out of it The habit for September is doing your evening routine.

Sleep well (IVE do the best you can in the circumstances Grin )

Due to recent oversharing on my part and the desire to stay unidentified on mn there will be no baby picture Sad but he looks a bit like this 👶

I could do with a name change i think!

ChicCroissant · 15/09/2019 12:18

Morning! DH and DD out for a bit, so a chance to get on with things - apart from it not being a fab day pain-wise, would love to work out what is triggering the problem!

Keep flapping, fledglings!

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/09/2019 17:27

Got couple bramble scratches when attacking buddleia.was wearing no socks and low cut shoes,so top of right foot, nothing major.ran around garden barefoot play lil zoo/dancing after.was fine, just bit itchy
Bit itchy in night.was fine when got up
About 2-3 hrs after got up start to swell.we been out n about today to local village attraction and ok can barely stand on it now.its red, itchy and warmer than other one.
Now elevating it in hope it goes down as D's won't cope a+e,and dd2 doesn't want me to leave her in charge whilst DP takes me.fuck, fuck, fuckity fuck

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/09/2019 17:36

Shock that doesnt look good! Could dp drive you there with dc in car, he could take ds and lilzoo home and leave dd2 with you?

TooStressyTooMessy · 15/09/2019 18:04

Sounds as if you need to get that seen zoo. Ive has the right idea - could be drop you off and pick up up later? Other option is phone 111 and they may give you a timed appointment at a walk in type place (they might not but it’s worth a go).

foxessocks · 15/09/2019 18:45

Better to be safe than sorry zoo that looks nasty, hope you're okay.

Lisette just getting the dc to bed and then I think I'll join you with the Wine!

Lovely day here, perfect weather, we went to a little fun day with our friends, had bouncy castles and stuff it was so nice. We didn't stay too long as friend is very pregnant and exhausted!

Spent the rest of the day blitzing the house, I've tidied like a mad woman!

Leftover Chinese for dinner tonight ...the dc had spaghetti Bolognese from a tin 🙊 not exactly a nice Sunday roast!
