Fledglings aim for an amazing August - the Flylady thread

...or just aim to get through the summer holidays!

Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a really lovely thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise not to as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

August’s habit is laundry - attempt to conquer Mt. Washmore!

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Please note that while there is lots of information on the website, from a security point of view we would advise caution with putting any personal details in or downloading anything.

Also a huge thank you to Expletive for the July thread CakeFlowersBrewWine.

Glad you are feeling brighter bower
Stressy hope you enjoyed having time out by yourself!

Callmecordelia · 04/08/2019 06:56

Signing in. Doing more lurking in the naughty corner than flying....

IVEgottheDECAF · 04/08/2019 07:03

I am sore today Sad

ExpletiveDelighted · 04/08/2019 07:34

Well, I'm glad I decluttered my bedside cabinet yesterday as I managed to knock over a mug of fruit tea on it last night and it mainly went into an empty drawer not a full one (I had left one partly open).

DS is due back today, I have missed him, so I'm off to the airport later to pick him up. First of all I need to stick some washing on (clearing the way for the no doubt disgusting contents of DS's rucksack) and do the litter trays. Then reorganising more stuff with the Ikea storage bags I bought on Thurs, they are for out of season duvets and spare pillows.

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/08/2019 13:09

Drama here again today...lil zoo ongoing tummy/back pains- 3weeks of painkillers on and off, dragging when wee is continual, got up today with lots pain and went right side only and felt sick...we were told back to a+e if that started as suspect appendix
Well just had call from so on way home.not appendix.they think is most likely periods approaching...I suffered dreadfully with pain as does dd1(to point she's a walking pharmacy) and something tells me she's about to step onto the same boat poor little thing.shes only 11 and I don't want that for her anytime soon

Bowerbird5 · 04/08/2019 13:22

Oh poor lass. Kids are starting earlier these days...I know that is no comfort. Used to think when Yr^'s were tetchy with each other it was probably hormonal.

Ta Das in the Power of 3
Made bed
Washed up. Last nights (and breakfast.) I had a large glass of wine and then couldn't be bothered. Then had a second glass of wine. I blame the Rose' as I'm not used to drinking it. That's my excuse!
Wiped worktops.

Been to Mass. Waiting to see if friend wants to go out.She wanted to go to an antique sale. I am quite happy to mooch about with her but don't want to buy anything as I don't need anything because I am trying to declutter. Would change mind if something for summerhouse or garden.

Bowerbird5 · 04/08/2019 13:23

YR6 sorry.

TooStressyTooMessy · 04/08/2019 15:41

Hi all, sorry have been AWOL. We went into London today! On the way back to my parents on the train now. It has been ok, have had enough really now though and am keen to get back! London Eye was great actually. Chic, thanks so much for the advice to watch the 4D show which was awesome. We might have missed it otherwise.

Rest of the day was a bit stressful wandering round tbh. Can’t believe the thing I was stressing about was really good but it was the rest that was stressful. Anyway, it was ok and at least we are on the way back now.

Oh poor lilzoo, as Bower says, girls start much earlier now. Hope your DS had a good time in the end Expletive.

Onthebrink67 · 04/08/2019 19:03

Hiding in the naughty corner but I have ice cream. Nothing done here but laundry. Away from Tuesday so tomorrow will be sorting stuff out but will be back next weekend so hopefully I will come back with a plan.

TooStressyTooMessy · 04/08/2019 19:40

Thanks Bower, tbh I am no fan of London myself. Have been many times before but this was the first time we took the girls.

Have really had enough of this day. Will pop back with launchpad links later.

Hi all, MN seems to be struggling today. Not sure if anyone has been trying to get on or saw the error message about the servers. I’m in now but not sure for how long! Hope everyone is ok, good luck with anyone attempting any flying today Grin. I’ll come on later tonight to see if the site is working properly and hopefully post a launchpad link.

ExpletiveDelighted · 05/08/2019 13:25

Wow Zoo - you are taking Home Blessing to a whole new level there.

Bowerbird5 · 05/08/2019 13:29

Seems to be working now. It wouldn't let me into our cosy corner Confused

Well things haven't gone to plan today. Was going to do dining room. On here for longer than i should sussing out ebay, EWM who have a lovely linen look jacket I spied while out shopping BF didn't like the skirt that was with it and said it was old lady but I reminded her I probably fall into that catergory now. Sad
Think I will wear another skirt next week and try jacket on with it.We have to smarten up at work. As job didn't work out I feel mean leaving them in the lurch so going to try and do first term until they can get someone. Also be money towards payback on kitchen and for C shh not going to say it. December in case there are any expenses regarding that month.

Warning :
Do not leave your bin lid off during this hot weather.

Do not read if pregnant or squeamish!

I have a press lid bin but left it open on and off while cooking etc.
I came down this morning to shut lid bin but when I opened it it was crawling with maggots urgh! I had to empty bin into another bag wash lid and some fell on the floor and crawled away so been chasing them and i ran out of kitchen towel yesterday, so had to grab toilet roll from outside loo. Now had to wash the floor but seem to have got them all. I will never leave bin open again. Yuk Yuk Yuk!
Haven't started the dining room as I washed bin lid in gutter then had to brush it away. Next doors are leaving their bin outside our garden wall evenn though they have much wider frontage. Hmm! They don't bother to bring them in at all. So moved them back to their side (Post Box marks boundary easily) and swept all of my path by road.It gets mossy when they leave their bin there which is annoying too. This might start a bin war. I was tempted to write their house name in paint the other night. People will think they are ours and they are always over full despite only two living there. I recycle a lot I guess they don't bother. That's my grumble of the day.

Bowerbird5 · 05/08/2019 13:30

Ha is that because no mum'snet zoo.?

WOW best attempt catch up. Maybe half.

TooStressyTooMessy · 05/08/2019 15:37

Oh no Bower. Well done for dealing with maggots Star.

zoo Star amazing list!

Had an ok day out with my mum and dad to a National Trust type place. DH has now taken the kids (since they are not tired Hmm) to the park which gives me half an hour or so to pack as we are leaving tomorrow. Currently alone in the house which is bliss.

ExpletiveDelighted · 05/08/2019 19:52

Zoo have you tried heating a bowl of hot water (from the kettle) and a squirt of lemon juice in your microwave? Heat it for a minute or two then leave the door shut for 15 mins, the lemon juice loosens all the crud been there.
