Fledglings aim for an amazing August - the Flylady thread

...or just aim to get through the summer holidays!

Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a really lovely thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise not to as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

August’s habit is laundry - attempt to conquer Mt. Washmore!

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.
**

Please note that while there is lots of information on the website, from a security point of view we would advise caution with putting any personal details in or downloading anything.

Also a huge thank you to Expletive for the July thread CakeFlowersBrewWine.

toostressy enjoy your holiday, don't worry about us, summer holidays don't count for flying do they?! Grin

Laputa amazing about the assessments etc sounds really interesting and worthwhile , hope it doesn't get too overwhelming though!

We went out for dinner tonight and the dc have just eaten chocolate brownies and ice cream so bed time was not the easiest, ds only just settled down and I can still hear him singing Confused i did that stupid thing of making a threat that I really can't follow through on so I've had to back track, and I wonder why ds never listens to me 🤦

ChicCroissant · 08/08/2019 23:07

Sorry, not caught up properly yet but have a lovely holiday Stressy and don't worry about the links, I can do them if the fledglings want links through the summer holidays.

Laputa that seems a lot to take in - good to get confirmation of what you have already worked out for yourself but it can be a time of mixed feelings. It sounds a fabulous place though.

foxes how scary with the rash, you did the right thing though without a doubt.

No flying today here, unfortunately! In fact, we've got some stuff down from the loft tonight so it's looking worse rather than better!

Bowerbird5 · 08/08/2019 23:13

Toostressy Enjoy your hols. Just rinse through at bedtime and leave out. It will probably be dry by morning. Could you buy one when you get one? Might get a lovely new one.

Well today didn’t pan out as expected. I slept in after having a bad night due to a reaction to Aldi fish cakes which I didn’t really enjoy either. Then was slow to get cracking as felt sick and stomach churning. Got rid of it and started to feel better then waved to someone which was met by a request. That was ok I could oblige. Had ten minutes crack to them as someone who was talking to her drove off and asked her to explain. Someone very unwell in village. Very popular unassuming guy.
Then as I was about to go home a friend rocked up and asked me down to their house. I haven’t been before so felt obliged. I like him just felt guilty about the house as I was hoping to have all downstairs done today. He dropped me back off after a pleasant afternoon and then I had to get ready to go out to another village to see a brass band. Meeting another retired friend. Is this what it is going to be like if I retire? I threw everything in sitting room into a basket before I went out. Oh and I have a lunch invitation for tomorrow! That happened tonight. I wasn’t allowed to say no. I will be able to do shopping afterwards as nearby village shops are good especially the butcher.

Ta das
Cat and chicken fed
Half a basket of paperwork sorted through and filed in right folders or bags.
Vacuumed downstairs very fast before going out tonight.

Bowerbird5 · 08/08/2019 23:16

Waves to Chic. I don’t think anyone is flying much.🖐🙀

ChicCroissant · 08/08/2019 23:29

That sounds like a busy day, Bower!

I'm not doing much flying myself Blush so I'm a pretty poor example ATM!

LivingInLaputa · 08/08/2019 23:39

Ah thanks all. Am now in flare up mode, I slept for a while this afternoon and actually broke our house rule of no food upstairs as DH brought me dinner in bed! I couldn’t move 🙈 I’m not worried, it was pretty much guaranteed that I’d suffer after that trip.

Family support worker was amazing, I really like her! Lots of plans of things to help, organisations to contact etc.

I have a crapload of phonecalls to make and I should really try and do them tomorrow so they don’t bug me over the weekend. Otherwise I plan to take it easy, we do need to finish the laundry though! Curse you Mount Washmore!

LivingInLaputa · 08/08/2019 23:41

And yes definitely helpful with the home education stuff. Finding out more about the differences between their brains is useful, we have done a lot of stuff for them together but it’s now clearer that they need a lot more individual work according to their strengths and difficulties. Hoping to start making some plans and get a little bit of holiday work in place from next week again.

Lisette1940 · 08/08/2019 23:41

I'm doing a quick glide around the house tomorrow. Must shop for food, weed front garden, iron. Swish and swipe bathrooms.

LivingInLaputa · 09/08/2019 11:17

Sorry about the asshat menfolk 😡

Mega pain this morning, feel crap as does DH. Was hoping to escape the house a bit as I need headspace, but not sure I can so it may have to be a case of hiding upstairs instead!

TooStressyTooMessy · 09/08/2019 14:37

Hope you manage to get through the day Cag.

At airport waiting to board!

OP posts:
LivingInLaputa · 09/08/2019 17:38

Good luck stressy

Been hiding upstairs mostly. Pain is high. Decided to make those phonecalls, or some at least. Regretting it.

Months ago I was referred to mental heath team but was discharged instantly because the assessment I needed wasn’t under their remit. Been bounced from pillar to post since then as the system is a mess, MH getting worse by the week. Found out today (on one of said phonecalls) that actually the mental health team do have a consultant who could do what I needed. Devastated doesn’t cover it. I have been lower than ever the last few months and to think if that nurse hadn’t told me the wrong info I could now be on medication that actually works for me, I can’t even process it, all that wasted time.

Lisette1940 · 09/08/2019 19:29

Laputa Flowers that's such a shame.

Did not weed garden due to rain.

But got everything else done.

Shopping for school shoes tomorrow as ds back to school week after next Grin

IVEgottheDECAF · 10/08/2019 10:20

Its like a ghost town on here 👻

Bowerbird5 · 10/08/2019 10:57

Waves to I’ve👋
Sorry about manchild. Why can’t men step up to the mark when woman are busy growing babies or just when we need them.

Zoo very picturesque glad you have such lovely places to walk with DS.

Local show washed out and woke up feeling sick so quiet day for me. Think the fish cakes have triggered a medical condition I have. Means I might need antibiotics. Damn!

Still sorting and decluttering slowly.

TooStressyTooMessy · 10/08/2019 11:00

Laputa Flowers, are you at least in the system now?

Absolutely don’t blame you for singing Lisette Grin.

I’m here Ive Smile. Day two of our holiday but really day one as we arrived very late last night. Kids loving the swimming pool. Tbh I hate hot weather but it is ok and I have managed to get rash vests onto them at least. Not managed hats while in the pool but they will definitely have them on outside of it. So no real possibility of flying here!

Hope everyone is ok. Absolutely blazing hot here it I hear the UK is a bit of a mixed bag.

IVEgottheDECAF · 10/08/2019 11:08

Wet and miserable here! Enjoy the holiday stressy!

Ta da

Wash on x2

Pots washed

DP is still being a useless cunt. I hope he realises i have no intention of going to his family event later, i will be going to bed and he will be taking the DC.....

Bower if you retire you can become a lady that lunches 🍹🥩🥗

Zoo reckon if we dig a really big hole both our man childs can rest in peace....

Laputa thats really crap that all that time has been wasted, i would probably make a complaint tbh

Waves to everyone else

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/08/2019 12:03

I've I will go get a spade...

Tada
Cats fed
Littertray and bins

Carbonelle(nelly) showed an interest in the great outside when we had the super hot spell(well sat on backdoor step intermittent yowling to be reassured it was ok/safe) she's from a large cat household none of which went out and is quite timid.i decided safest option was a harness and leash and for last three days I have put on her leash after her breakfast and she has had opportunity to go out back for a sniff.its been very short trips but she comes when I get leash out and seems very happy and more loving so I guess she's content with it.i never expect her to manage going out by herself as she really couldn't cope with traffic/noise as panic runs dragging me behind into the house if anything startles her as it is!!so I've inadvertently given myself an extra job ....walk the cat first thing!!Grin

Breakfasts for D's and lil zoo(dd2 fail get up,so don't get fed cos I'm evil and can't be doing be kept awake half night by nocturnal teens that can't get up in the morning
Trip out for bread and milk
Me and little ones attacked next doors hedge- she works nights and looks after her granddaughter(who is now 10) and has done since she was 2 when made ward of courts.shes also cealiac and looks utterly exhausted all the time.i saw her the other day and she tells me on b12 injections, folic acid, iron and vit d..I offered sort hedge in exchange borrowing her lopper/shear things that crank and cut thru thicker branches than shears can.she readily agreed.
They gone off to Cornwall today, loppers lent so I set to work on hedge.took us 2hours to get it down from around 7ft to about 5!!I nearly got blown off step ladder which was a bit hairy but it's done.we filled our brown wheelie, hers and a neighbour's and we still have a little bit left but hopefully she be ok with it!it's not perfectly neat as some branches are super thick and lopping isn't as predictable so it's not dead level.but it's better than it was!!

Came in at 11,dd2 just woke upShockhoping this puts her in a better mood.lil zoo almost fell headfirst into bin whilst pushing down hedge bits so she's had a shower/hairwash(and clothes are washing) and they watch Simpsons now
Lunch shortly- tuna, tomato and red onion(not fit D's) sandwiches/roast pepper, garlicky courgettes and butterbean with cottage cheese and a crust of bread for dd2

To do
Bit painting in D's room
Something with front room

It's super windy here today, very blustery.we had short brief but drizzle in the wind.very overcast so I wasn't brave enough for camera club today in case hammers down.theres no shelter from it in nature reserve til we get to the barn and I didn't fancy being half drowned!!

Stressy hope you having a lovely time

Bowerbird5 · 10/08/2019 12:30

Enjoy stressy it is persisting down here. Rained all night by the looks of it and still ☔️ torrential. Lightning last night and early this morning.

Runs out between showers and grabs a spade.

Still feeling really nauseous.

zoo wow at getting hedge done that is an amazing job.

Ta das
Cat fed twice, giving small amounts so she eats all and it doesn’t attract flies. DH told me he had found maggots one day too. So I am keeping cat bowl clean as it sits just inside kitchen door which I keep open in warm weather.

Chicken feed, she is looking quite bedraggled so must have got caught out. I have put her food undercover. No eggs.☹️ 2days.
Washer on with towels.
Dishwasher on with limited amount. I forgot to put it on Thursday oops. Plates were rinsed.

I’m drinking peppermint tea and honey but feel really grotty so sofa for now.

Lisette1940 · 10/08/2019 15:27

Got school shoes and gym shoes. Ordered soccer boots (astro, hard ground, indoor) and wellies. Fingers crossed he won't grow out of them by December.

Relaxing before paint jobs.
