Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, although Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) [[http://www.flylady.net/d/br/2017/06/11/please-explain-the-zones-6/
here]]

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for June is : drinking water!

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Good to have you back sc sorry about the rough time though Sad

Ta das
Daily routine and s&s
Deep clean downstairs toilet
Decluttered bag purse car
Amended online food shop
Started dinner - changed my meal plan due to the veg box containing a lot of leeks and potatoes this week, so I'm winging it and making a bacon leek and potato tortilla, spanish omlette no idea what the difference is...

LivingInLaputa · 28/06/2019 19:21

Is it that a tortilla always has potatoes or something? But it’s prob the same I don’t know 😂 not like my kids would eat it either way 🙄😡

I antiprocrastinated a bit today. I had a GP appt, which was mainly to ask for a referral to ENT and she agreed straight away ❤️ But I also took the opportunity to ask for sleep clinic referral which I have been putting off for, erm, years. I am high risk for sleep apnoea as both my parents have it, my dad uses a CPAP machine. DH can hear me choke in my sleep and I feel it too sometimes. But I’ve been steadfastly ignoring it (embarrassment, fear etc). So I’m really pleased I have finally asked.

I also paid my therapist for the first session next week. Eeeeek!

foxessocks · 28/06/2019 19:32

You may be right! There is also the frittata though which has potatoes Confused anyway it was tasty. Ds was the only one not too keen but he's funny about a lot of stuff at the moment!

I'm a big believer in sleep, it's very important for health and mental well being too! My ds becomes manic when he hasn't slept well.

Did have a breakthrough with the yogurt for him though, natural yogurt with honey seems to be a winner!

Good anti procrastination Smile my mum has sleep apnea and she uses the.machine she says she feels so much better now because she is actually sleeping properly even though she didn't realize she wasn't ifyswim. My dad says he sleeps better too because he isn't worrying about her. So this is definitely a good thing to get checked!

foxessocks · 28/06/2019 19:33

Ok not sure what happened there but my post got all mixed up Confused it doesn't make much sense now but hopefully you get the idea!

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/06/2019 19:54

Tortilla tend to be eggs, potato and sometimes onion, usually flipped and cooked both sides in pan, occasionally pop under a grill
Frittatta has cheese, meat and or veg and is usually start on hob then pop in oven

SC what a nightmare!!hurrah for DD exam results, what a superstar.hope the colic gets sorted.good luck with mice,I had rats in loft oncenever been so scared in my life one would emerge into the house

LivingInLaputa · 29/06/2019 08:47

Morning all. Odd night as Cagletini decided she was wide awake at 2am and was happily wandering the hallway. Thankfully she did doze back off in the end but I’ve no idea what got into her.

It’s supposed to be a mega busy weekend. There’s a gaming festival in the next town over and I REEEEALLY want to go 😭 I haven’t made it to any of the board game meet ups I recently found out about. They have computer game stuff at this one as well so the Caglets would have a lot to choose from. But I don’t know if I have the energy or the concentration to do it and if it’s still hot it’ll be difficult.

IVEgottheDECAF · 29/06/2019 09:25

Laputa possibly the heat woke her? Dc4 hasnt been sleeping as well as usual this week. And he is now having a massive tantrum because he thinks he is Lord of the Sky Box and the only one who chooses what to watch ...

IVEgottheDECAF · 29/06/2019 10:58

DS and lil zoo drawing in his room as coolest at this point of day

ChicCroissant · 29/06/2019 12:09

Apologies for being AWOL, very sunny and warm here today. DH still poorly so dashing round a bit today, will be back shortly!

ExpletiveDelighted · 29/06/2019 12:30

Really hot here, I went to the allotment at 8.30 to water but it was too hot to do any actual work up there. Just been to the supermarket mainly as a means to walking round somewhere with aircon for a bit. About to put second load of washing on the line, at least the weather is good for that, but its too hot to do much else, hopefully it will be a bit cooler tomorrow. Feeling very sorry for those in mainland Europe with temperatures in the 40s.

SC - sounds like you have had a very hard week, hope those 🐭🐭 disappear soon.

Zoo - hope DD2 better soon, and your DH Chic.

foxessocks · 29/06/2019 17:20

We went to see toy story this morning and the cinema was lovely and cool, had lunch after so didn't feel the heat until we came out at 1pm! Since then the dc have been playing in the paddling pool and I've been doing as little as possible really.

Dh put fairy doors up in the garden while we were out so dd thinks fairies have moved in, she is so excited it's very lovely 😍

This is my tiny to do list -
Cinema and lunch with the dc to get them out of the way while dh does dissertation
Daily routine and s&s
15 minutes decluttering and tidying in kitchen
Bid on a bundle of dresses for dd on eBay
Wrote shopping list for tomorrow we've got loads of birthdays coming up.

We've decided on chicken wraps for dinner because it's too hot to do much cooking. My original soup plan is definitely not good for today!

foxessocks · 29/06/2019 17:21

Hope everyone is keeping cool !

ChicCroissant · 29/06/2019 17:36

DH still poorly so will be having a bland tea for him, not sure what I'm going to do - DD often has something from the golden arches so I may have to pick something from there unless I cook don't want the heat

DD did activity this morning, then we had lunch and went to a local strawberry fair (there are a lot of things on locally today) and got home in time to watch the last part of Anne-Marie's set at Glastonbury (DD is a fan).

It is a bit warm, we have the fans on. Drinking lots of water!

Bowerbird5 · 29/06/2019 17:46

Hi all,
SC that is marvellous news. Maths tutor for a while would be good. I was in a class of six in 6th form( we had to take Maths) and I improved no end partly because I knew more than the others and partly because of the fantastic Maths teacher. A young lass doing her Masters. I passed!
Sorry about the 🐭🐭🐭at least they aren’t 🐀🐀🐀 I cant stand those. Building work nearby meant we ended up with one in the house. I noticed the fruit bowl fruit knawed sp chewed! I thought it was a squirrel and wouldn’t let DH put a trap down. We had red squirrels 🐿 living in drays on the green opposite and they used to come in the garden and pinch the bird food. Went into the kitchen one night and saw it arrrgh! It scuttled behind old pipes. Had the rat catcher next day. It died under the sofa. What a stink. DH says serve me right for not cleaning under more often. Now down weekly.
We get mice in winter but hopefully not this year with new kitchen as they can’t get behind now 😀

Laputa fantastic anti procrastination.

I haven’t got much done as I am baking a Christening Cake and because of work ( had to go in on day off) and the weather it is all being done today except the baby which I made on Thursday to dry out. I thought cake would dry out and be yucky. I have made two 10” V. Sponges and have started the lettering. Needed a wee so thought I would have a little break. I am making 24 cup cakes 🧁 to go with it as I imagine lots of people going as it is a church baptism. She has been going since 2 weeks old. A little poppet.
Better get back to it. I needed to go and buy more icing this morning and some lemon curd which is local but about 7 miles away. I had to get more eggs as her ladyship isn’t producing as many in this heat. Was 28 here this morning woo hoo! Wish I was outside. I do have the door and window open. It is lovely in the garden.

zoo ohh 😮A&E 😲 nightmare at this time.

Chic thank you. A sterling job.

Bowerbird5 · 29/06/2019 17:48

🧚‍♀️ Fairies 🧚‍♂️ How lovely!

ExpletiveDelighted · 29/06/2019 18:29

Well, pottered around for a couple of hours indoors where it wasn't too hot and have now packed a picnic and headed to the beach where there is a lovely breeze, so much nicer than it was inland. DH fixed the bath tap which has been dripping for ages but had got noticeably worse recently and we are metered. It was clogged with limescale, out water is very hard, unfortunately due to the layout of our house and pipes I don't think a water softener is possible.

TooStressyTooMessy · 29/06/2019 21:05

Super hot here like most places. Didn’t really do any flying but hadn’t expected to as had busy day. Hoping to get some bits done tomorrow. Planning to stay indoors as much as possible tomorrow as we have been out in the sun today and yesterday.

Lovely to hear from you SC Flowers

ChicCroissant · 30/06/2019 00:30

Very late link for Sunday to the Launch Pad

Bowerbird5 · 30/06/2019 02:30

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/06/2019 07:37

Morning, another lovely day her again today laundry

As it's the last day of June today (yay, almost July!) it's time for a new July thread - heading towards the holidays. Any takers? I can do it, I know that SC is unavailable through the summer this year and the August thread in particular is usually more of a chat one Blush .

I've cooked breakfast, need to clean up the kitchen (have unloaded dishwasher already), write a shopping list and go shopping, check calendar for the week and do some menu planning and clothes planning.

I got a bit distracted last week, I was waiting to hear from someone about going out to catch up which kept changing (at least one of the changes was me though!) so I'd like to plan my week out a little more and distribute the tasks needed evenly. If I do end up doing something different, I'll have a list to catch up on another day. Bit more planning needed for productivity.

Also planning to do the babysteps next month properly

Better start the menu planning and shopping list, catch you later fledglings!
