Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, although Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) [[http://www.flylady.net/d/br/2017/06/11/please-explain-the-zones-6/
here]]

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for June is : drinking water!

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Got fuck all sleep. Couldn’t settle due to wrist pain, Cagletini woke a lot, and then the Caglets decided it was a good idea to wake me up at 6.10 to ask why the Harry Potter game wouldn’t download on DD’s phone and I couldn’t get back to sleep. Annoyed is an understatement!

Home ed is slow going today, really haven’t achieved what I’d hoped to this week :(

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/06/2019 15:01

O.t was ok(ish) bought varnish to cover stones they painted week before.neede use upstairs bathroom to wash hands.my paranoia fears snooping..

Took scoutcat vets and completely disgraceful behaved...after 40 minutes wait while staff try to do skin scrape they had accept defeat.he was play up terribly, despite let vet take hair follicle no probs.i suspect very angry nurse set him off-- he responds poorly to stressy/agressive people.i offered go in with him and she barked at me that Wont help.vet end up giving cone and steroids as he has bald spots to try stop itch/chew and prevent lesions so no infection sets in.this cost, incl consulting fee £50almost as much as procedures should've had.needs sedative and scrape within 10days)or more steroids until I can get it done)procedure with sedative will top 100 quid....like I've got that sort of cash hanging around at mo

Cagliostro · 21/06/2019 17:20

Oh gosh zoo that sounds stressful and pricey 😰

Today’s been a mixed bag, still very sore (borrowed DD’s wrist splint but it’s a bit small) but I did get to actually go on a little date with DH. Mum isn’t exactly on the ball with childcare so once I’d got Cagletini off to sleep we went off to the local for pudding and drinks and at least got a couple of hours uninterrupted chat while she watched the sleeping toddler.

Off to a friend’s tonight, CBA really but we are sharing a takeaway and the chance to chat will be nice. Think I’m taking the toddler though.

TooStressyTooMessy · 21/06/2019 19:21

Where is the wine WineWineWine?! Why are my children never tired?!

Oh no zoo, that does some very expensive.

Hope you manage to enjoy some of your takeaway with Cagletini about Cag.

Lisette1940 · 21/06/2019 19:25

Sounds like Scoutcat was reacting to the price. Hope he is better soon.

Lisette1940 · 21/06/2019 19:26

Sounds like everyone's having a day of it.

Cagliostro · 21/06/2019 23:24

I didn’t take the toddler!!! She was being an absolute horror and DH got home just before my friend arrived anyway. Nice to have some freedom in the evening and she is already asleep without having missed me too much it seems!

Busy day tomorrow as it’s the Caglets’ Dance show - quick rehearsal in the morning too.

ChicCroissant · 21/06/2019 23:34

I have the white wine

I am shattered, will head to bed to finish my wine and read a book for a bit.

Link to the Launch Pad for Saturday

Sleep well fledglings!

Lisette1940 · 22/06/2019 00:06

I'm glad you got so time to yourself Cag.
Thanks for stepping in Chic. I wonder how poor SC is doing.

Beautiful night here tonight - Midsummer!

Cagliostro · 22/06/2019 07:48

Yes, thank you for links chic and I hope sc has stopped puking by now?! :(

My nose feels a bit runny and my throat a bit scratchy. Ordinarily I would make going to the pool a priority so I could sit in the steam room which seems to stop anything developing. But I’m not sure if I can fit that in today what with the dance show. Argh. It’s a cliche but I really really can’t afford to get sick right now!

Need to find 3 pairs of black trainer socks for the Caglets and their friend as part of the outfits, I forgot to put them aside from the new packs bought last week so hopefully there are some that have been washed.

ChicCroissant · 22/06/2019 10:41

Quick good morning, have cooked the breakfast (eggs and bacon on the weekend, yum!) and getting ready to take DD to her activity. Will catch up properly later, have a good morning fledglings!

Cagliostro · 22/06/2019 11:52

Morning! Just about.

Ugh getting all stressy. I HATE show day, it’s always stress and dashing about! Just lucky their friend is also in it and they have a car so later on we have a lift, but for now DH has taken DD (who is in an extra dance as she does modern as well as tap like the boys) to get cycling shorts and snacks. I did find the socks at least!

ChicCroissant · 22/06/2019 13:32

I managed to lock my husband out of the house this morning while I took DD to her activity Blush

IVEgottheDECAF · 22/06/2019 13:38

Could be worse chic. He could have locked you out!

Cag Wine

foxessocks · 22/06/2019 15:30

How is everyone getting on? I took the kids swimming, for lunch and shopping today while dh studied. I'm shattered, they're exhausting!!
Dh has managed to do so much washing today the basket is empty Shock. This has never happened. Think he has been washing instead of working...

Anyway my tiny ta da
Supermarket for a few essentials (and unessential jelly because the kids were with me and wanted some Confused)

To do
Finish daily routine
15 minutes bedroom cleaning
Make some cakes or something
Cook dinner - chicken parmigiana

Lisette1940 · 22/06/2019 16:32

Psyching up to the exercise bike.

ChicCroissant · 22/06/2019 19:16

Evening all, had a Wii Fit battle with DD this afternoon she won and did a bit of laundry the last load may still be in the machine. Have just had our normal takeaway tea and the weather has been gorgeous all day.

SC is feeling a bit better, but there is now the threat of builders again for her (I say threat because I've got a friend waiting and waiting for builders at the moment so I don't like to commit Grin ) so I will be on duty for at least the weekend. Get well soon and get as much rest as you can SC!

ChicCroissant · 22/06/2019 21:12

Hope everyone has enjoyed the lovely weather today!

Cag I hope the dance show was wonderful, Lisette and foxes well done on the exercise today and IVE I know the Wine was for Cag but I'm going to take you up on that myself Grin

Link to the Launch Pad including the Flight Plan for tomorrow.

Sleep well, fledglings!

Lisette1940 · 22/06/2019 21:29

Thank you - I had a faster time today. Maybe a walk tomorrow.

TooStressyTooMessy · 22/06/2019 21:49

Hi all, thanks for doing the links Chic. Unfortunate about locking your DH out!

I worked an extra day today so that was good as extra money. However since then I have generally wasted the day and spent far too much time on here and on Facebook. Really annoyed with myself as could have done something productive and instead have achieved nothing Angry. Aaaaggh. Going to go to bed and hope to be better tomorrow. Will have to get up early as we have a busy day and I have done very little prep Angry.

Hope dance show went ok Cag.

Bowerbird5 · 23/06/2019 00:14

Hi,
Have tried posting and lost them each time x3 over the week so going to try again and go for short posts. Have been reading yours.

Hope dance show went well. It takes me back to DD. She is swimming in the Great Barrier Reef😃 going to lots of islands off the QLD coast.
SC hope you feel better soon.
Lisette and foxes I’m impressed. My exercise has been gardening today. Found a clock face in the shed which has stopped working but then I thought I would just put the hands at 5pm then it will be gin o’clock.
Have three loads washed.
Cleaned kitchen except floor. I need a new mop.
Toostressy never mind just challenge yourself tomorrow.

Chic thanks for taking over.

Waves to others and posts before it disappears again.

ChicCroissant · 23/06/2019 10:13

Bower I wondered where you were, MN has been a bit odd with posting over the last couple of weeks for me too. I like your style with the clock hands Gin

I bought a mop a while back, Vileda - has a large flat head that folds up and a microfibre sleeve, cleans my odd kitchen floor quite well actually (vinyl tiles with an indented pattern, hard to mop without the indents filling up with water). Now you can get similar ones with a spray function like bloggers use easily led but I just stick the microfibre sleeve in the sink and wring it out well living my best life

Stressy we all need a day off occasionally, 'sharpen the saw' is the way I've heard it described (7 habits).

DD has been fighting a cold all week but it's got her today, there is a trail of tissues! I'll be battling that today!

Catch up with you later, fledglings!

TooStressyTooMessy · 23/06/2019 10:15

Thanks guys Smile. Nice to hear from you Bower.

Just dropped DD1 at an activity so we will just have DD1. Going to try to start again today and hope to be more organised... again Hmm.

Bowerbird5 · 23/06/2019 14:10

😡🤬it has just done it again. Reloaded and lost my almost finished post.

I looked at those mops so thanks will get one tomorrow at the Range on the way home.

Been doing some of boudoir as never completed and it annoys me every night.

ChicCroissant · 23/06/2019 14:27

www.wilko.com/en-uk/vileda-mop-active-max-system/p/0304986

This is the one I have, the head is quite big so might not be suitable for smaller areas (cloakrooms) but it's great in the kitchen. The spray one has a similar head and you can buy replacement covers (I think I could probably make some myself as well).

Eaten lunch, dispensed more calpol.

I'm all fired up again at the moment to make a difference to the house. Just need to stick with it and stop buying stuff!
