Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, although Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) [[http://www.flylady.net/d/br/2017/06/11/please-explain-the-zones-6/
here]]

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for June is : drinking water!

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Chic it is great. Best bit...we can’t see the neighbours at all when we are in it. I took the deck chair in, in case of rain, that what I fell asleep in.
zoo agree they should be marking it. He is still part of the class.

Sitting room isn’t too bad. A pile of RCs that need moved /put away and a good dust.
Right better get up and get cracking.

LivingInLaputa · 27/06/2019 08:47

Sadly I’m not that cultured lisette Blush but both films are based on (or inspired by at least) what you’ve said. I should read up more about Cagliostro actually... hmmm maybe a little topic for the Caglets (I’ve been wondering about having a “historical figure of the week” type thing from September Hmm

Zoo how do they justify not marking his work?! They’d be marking it if he was in school no? Bastards. Is there anyone you can complain to about that, OFSTED maybe?! LEA? I don’t know how it all works but surely they are still meant to given he is still on school roll.

I am tired and achy, didn’t make it upstairs last night. Must try and nap while everyone’s at trampolining later rather than faffing about online.

LivingInLaputa · 27/06/2019 08:47

Forgot the pics!

Lovely pictures! I haven't read Gulliver's Travels and only know Cagliostro in passing Blush. A pub quiz would fill me with dread Grin

ChicCroissant · 27/06/2019 09:46

Good morning, it is a gorgeous day here today - the sun has finally arrived! Which means the washing machine is running Grin

Feeling quite fired up today, let's see how long that lasts ... but while I've got the enthusiasm, I'll crack on! I see a day of clearing up stuff and YouTubing for inspiration.

Today's focus is Errand Day (need to pick up DH's prescription this week) and the mission should you choose to accept it is to detail vaccum the corners and skirting boards. I find feather dusters brilliant for dusting skirting boards.

See you at lunchtime!

LivingInLaputa · 27/06/2019 09:57

Morning chic yes it’s nice here too! I’m indoors with the baby though. Oops.

DH in too much pain to take her to trampolining though (she is VERY hard work there as obviously you have to stop her going too near the trampolines and she is not the sort of kid who will happily sit in a stationary buggy!) so no nap for me yet. He suggested I pop out to get some time to myself when he’s home so I’ll probably just sit in the pub garden with a book as I don’t think I’d manage going further. It also means the home ed is left to him today :o the caglets (oh crap can I still call them that?!) got up late so didn’t get anything done before they left.

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/06/2019 10:12

The sun has got his hat on!

Thank god for that! I need the motivation of light and warmth!

LivingInLaputa · 27/06/2019 10:40

I am sitting in the GARDEN (still a novelty even though it’s 11 months since we moved here!) listening to Muse while the baby runs about, kicks footballs and brings me flowers 😀

It was the most lovely weather yesterday - I’d found it unbearably hot on the way to swimming but afterwards I was sitting by the bus stop with sunshine and a perfect breeze. I nearly ignored the first bus to sit there longer 😂

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/06/2019 11:18

Sounds lovely laputa! Our garden is a tip. We have no grass or anything just uneven ground. Its rubbish. I've just picked up a load of broken tat though and binned it, plus given it a quick sweep. Its hot out there. My phone says 17 but feels like more!

Callmecordelia · 27/06/2019 12:38

Hello everyone.

I came out of a bit of a low patch, and straight into an episode of heat exhaustion. Stay safe in the sun and drink plenty of water - I have been so unwell with it.

Ta da
Nothing

To do
Lots

It's our first year of having a garden too. It was landscaped a year ago and before that was an unusable mess. It's the best money I've ever spent. Looking at my flowers makes me so happy.

ChicCroissant · 27/06/2019 14:47

Cordelia Flowers sorry to hear about the heat exhaustion, hope you are feeling OK now.

Laundry a go-go here with the sun coming out.

Waves to IVE and Laputa

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/06/2019 15:04

Same here on the laundry front chic i have lost count of how many loads i have done but it was much needed as we had serious back log on going!

Hope you feel better soon Cordelia

I am 30 weeks gone today! I have never made it past 39+6. That is 69 days away.

LivingInLaputa · 27/06/2019 16:11

Oh no cordelia I’m sorry things have been so hard :(

Our garden is a mess TBH needs a good mow and never finished painting the fence etc but it has some decking and some grass and that’s enough for now! Also have some plants settling in.

The others have left for St. John Ambulance and the baby went back to sleep so I’m now listening to REM. Mainly because when I ask Alexa to “play Muse” it played the news headlines instead Hmm:o so a definite nostalgia music theme today! Going to attempt to finish my paperback shortly. Still got two kindle books on the go too. I must charge my actual kindle, I have the app on the iPad but I never use it because I end up faffing online instead.

Stilllivinginazoo · 27/06/2019 16:59

I've to me that's gone super quick.as you've suffered dreadfully I guessing it's dragged for you

I survived hospital trip.

TooStressyTooMessy · 27/06/2019 17:19

Hello all, have been at work the last couple of days but hoping to do some flying tomorrow, maybe even tonight!

DD1 is not good in the sun and neither am I so I can’t say I am looking forward to the heat!

Callmecordelia · 27/06/2019 18:25

Just don't do what I did - get dressed early when it was raining, forget your water bottle, then sit for hours in a blazing hot South facing office without a blind, and top it off with a sports day. The results aren't pretty.

I will be spending as much time as possible in the shade I think. Thank goodness DH was off today.

Stilllivinginazoo · 27/06/2019 18:57

CordeliaFlowers

Dd2 crisps in sun.both girls still really poorly.its been lovely here today.cool north wind with sun so it's been pleasant, not hot.i pop pick up couple bits from shop taking girls for bit fresh air whilst dp took D's CAMHS.lil zoo complained very tired.dd2 ears/sinus/chest/limbs hurt and was wheezy when we got inSadshe's adamant has to do ethic mocks tomorrow,I offered letter to get her home once that's done

DS stressed, lil zoo throat hurting/miserable so opt cream cheese on bagel with thin cucumber slices.blueberrirs, strawberries and cherriesand yogurt
Tray veg cooking for dd2 and I(hers to become soup)soft bread and cheese

foxessocks · 27/06/2019 18:58

Oh no call me that sounds terrible Shock and so easy to do as even when you check the forecast in the morning it can change in an instant!!

foxessocks · 27/06/2019 19:01

I don't know if any of you with little kids ever buy squeezy yogurts but my dc love them so for environmental reasons and money saving reasons I bought some reusable pouches and finally got round to filling them up with natural yoghurt mixed with some blended fruit (so healthier too!), dd loved hers and says she is happy to have them from now on - hooray! Ds wasn't so keen but I'm hoping he'll try again if I do a different flavour.

Only thing is I do need to purchase a bottle brush I think so I can clean it all out properly

I can hear both dc crying so I think dh is having some problems with the bedtime storiesConfused

Bowerbird5 · 27/06/2019 22:25

Oh dear!

Cordelia ouch!
Perhaps we could call them Clets Laputa but Caglitini really suits her name. I cant imagine her as anything else except of course her real name.

I managed to get up and make bed, feed animals, make salad, wipe up cat pee where she missed. I never did find wee on carpet despite duck like pose around sitting room doing sniff test. It must have just been smell from kitchen.
A bit more relaxing today without man in suit. Kids doing their usual though Sad it is sooo tiring. Had a lovely afternoon in KS2.
Had a detour on the way home. So not in until 6 due to detour and traffic that end of the city. Mug of tea and cake in the garden. Summer house was too hot! It was 28 on the car on the way home. Love the hot weather.Lost an important bit of paper ooops need to hand it in tomorrow though I am not signing it as some bits incorrect.

Two loads of washing done since home. So now up to date again. Love it when just me as only two to three loads a week including bedding , towels etc. I used to do more than that a day. First job was always feed the washing machine, put kettle on, feed kids. Used to empty dishwasher while kettle boiled and it was a challenge to do it before it boiled.
SC hope you are on road to recovery.
Right bedtime.Another day another dollar.
Have a good day tomorrow.

ChicCroissant · 27/06/2019 23:19

IVE racing towards your due date now

In our previous home we had a conservatory built and I bought two large plants for it. We then went out one exceptionally hot day and left the doors shut, which meant the heat built up like a furnace and the plants never fully recovered Blush I can believe the summer house was too hot today, Bower!

Going to try and get an early night, so waves to zoo, stressy, laputa, foxes and the hopefully-cooling-down Cordelia

Link to the Launch Pad for Friday. It's nearly the weekend fledglings, we've almost made it!

TooStressyTooMessy · 28/06/2019 08:59

Morning everyone! Have a day at home today so am going to try to blitz things with a general tidy. Busy evening coming up with a school thing though. Also need to do quick food shop.

ChicCroissant · 28/06/2019 09:14

Morning Stressy, another gorgeous day here so have one load of laundry on the line and another in process in the machine! Ironing is starting to build again SadGrin

Zone-wise we are still in the living room/lounge, today's mission is to put out any hot spots many here

I will need to hit the shops briefly myself later, must not get drawn down the YouTube wormhole again today ....

Singingcricket · 28/06/2019 12:16

Hello everyone

Just popping in to say thank you very much for all the kind enquiries

So sorry to abandon the thread so suddenly

Had mahoosive onslaught of illness (mine then dd's), builders, mice that came with the builders (oh joy) exam result stress, visitors (still here) all at once - plus covering bits in office with people away - and there have been quite a few hectic days (still ongoing).

Seriously huge thanks to Chic for stepping in so kindly and seamlessly! Flowers

I am feeling much better thankfully although hot weather is starting to be a bit of a challenge but not as bad as one of my friend's has it in the depths of France where it is in the forties.

Happy to report that dd passed all of her exams except maths thank heavens and will only have to retake maths in summer. Phew and treble phew. She is hugely relieved and happy.

Two days after getting the good news though she had an attack of colic so severe she fainted in the bathroom and I had to take her to a & e (was there for five hours Wed pm) and then the next day to see gasterentologist. They are testing for coeliac/lactose intolerance/other things. I am sure all the school stress doesn't help. She still made it to end of term mass and presentation of reports though!

Spent last couple of days trying to cope with builders drilling and mice popping up everyone (have got in the professionals) and washing out under the kitchen sink and all floors and surfaces with Dettol. Enforced decluttering is good though seeing as it rarely gets done otherwise.

Hope everyone is ok.

Noted your nc Laputa! Smile

So sorry to hear about heat stroke Cordelia which sounds really awful. Hope you are feeling much better now. And sorry about low patch too Flowers

Sorry to hear your brood are ill Zoo take it steady. That's really crap about the school not marking your ds's work. You (and he) must feel abandoned. Sad

Hurrah for 30 wks I've good luck with the final few Bear

So sorry - time is up - must go and attend to various things! Apologies for not catching up with everyone's posts!

But cherry/cheery waves to Foxes Bower Lisette Honu Toostressy Expletive Hills and everyone I've missed (sorry can't scroll)

Tally-ho for now and thank you again to Chic xx

Arf at Diane of Denmark btw! Might start vlogging as Buggered of Bxls! Grin

I forgot to hit post at lunchtime Blush

Good to hear from you SC, ugh with the mice - we had that problem a year ago and I was frantic (I don't like mice, apparently!). May the pied piper lead them away from your property ASAP! Well done to you DD as well, I hope she is feeling better now.

DH was supposed to be doing something after work today but has come home instead as he's not feeling well. So likely to be a quiet night here, I'll catch you later!
