Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, although Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) [[http://www.flylady.net/d/br/2017/06/11/please-explain-the-zones-6/
here]]

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for June is : drinking water!

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Hope everyone is having a stress free Sunday?! I've just spent two hours at soft play with the dc, it was a birthday party so not my choice! It was too hot.

In other news, dh stayed at home to work on his dissertation some more and he is very stressed. I can't really help him since I've never done a dissertation myself and I definitely don't know anything about the subject Sad. It is making me feel stressed too!

foxessocks · 23/06/2019 16:23

So not stress free here!

ChicCroissant · 23/06/2019 21:40

That does sound a bit stressful, foxes, hope the dissertation is going well.

We've booked a holiday! DD wanted to go away and preferably to Spain so we are going to Barcelona for a few days. All advice welcome if you've already been. None of us speak Spanish so we'll be doing a crash course in some useful phrases between now and departure in August! I have joined the August princessing thread to motivate myself in the meantime.

DD now pretty bad with her cold, always the way when I have stuff planned for the early part of the week Hmm Hope she feels better soon, her nose is running like a tap poor thing!

Here is the link for the Launch Pad ready for Monday morning. Let's attack this week before it attacks us! Sleep well fledglings!

ChicCroissant · 24/06/2019 08:28

Morning fledglings! DD is still poorly here so that has changed my plans a bit but I am still aiming to power through on the housework front.

Living room zone this week - mine could do with a bit of a tidy so will get on with that today. Mission today is checking under the sofa cushions, mine are not removable so that's an easy win for me this morning Grin!

Catch you later.

IVEgottheDECAF · 24/06/2019 09:10

Omg under my sofa cushions is disgusting. Its one of those jobs everytime i look i think urgh i need clean that after! But then its out of sight out of mind!

I am still slowly plodding through dds bedroom. I need to finish that first i think.

IVEgottheDECAF · 24/06/2019 12:39

Ta da

School run and shit
Uploaded shop n scan shit
Sorted mat allowance claim
Printed returns labels
Bought DN bday present
Ordered baby bits going cheap on Amazon

ChicCroissant · 24/06/2019 14:50

I have not done as much as I thought, deliver of new books (not cookbooks, for once!) and I've gone down a Diane in Denmark wormhole on YouTube!

Will crack on!

TooStressyTooMessy · 24/06/2019 19:35

I have not done as much as I thought Grin. Sorry Chic but I had to laugh as that is the story of my life! Also I have been to Barcelona! A long time ago in my pre children life. I only went for a quick stopover so can’t give many tips but I remember it was a really good mix of city and beach so you need to pack for both. They are so close together that you may end up flitting from one to the other.

Also foxes, your DH has my sympathy. Writing up a dissertation is a miserable experience.

Done a bit today but never as much as I would hope. Did manage to clean two fridge shelves. Rock and roll.

This last half of term is so busy!

Big wing flaps to all. Hope you are ok SC.

ChicCroissant · 24/06/2019 19:44

Grin yeah, story of my life too! Such great plans, so different IRL!

Not that my week was scheduled to the minute anyway but it is altering hourly. It will all fit in

I've had a message from our esteemed thread leader SC who is not feeling so good today, so I've told her I am taking over for the remaining days of the month.

I will be back later with the links, quiet day on the thread today probably because everyone else is busier than me

ChicCroissant · 25/06/2019 06:59

Apologies for the late links Blush

launch pad link, here you can find the flight plan for the day, the daily missions and the zone work.

Hoping DD is feeling better today, not sure what I'm doing this morning but I will be out for most of it catching up on what I should have done yesterday.

Very rainy here again today, so not a day for laundry drying outside unfortunately!

Cagliostro · 25/06/2019 10:30

Morning all. Very quiet on here. Really hope SC is ok!

Tough few days here, anxiety crazy high and now exhausted from a day out for DD’s birthday yesterday. I even built in a long rest as we saw Toy Story 4 (which is amazing BTW). But I am super sore today and can’t imagine we will get much work done. Then tomorrow DSCs are visiting to give DD their presents, so probably won’t do much then either. The last few weeks of term are really crammed and are rushing by so I am not sure how many of my home ed aims will actually be achieved.

I’ve finally decided on a name change but I’ll try and remember to stick to this one until July!

Lisette1940 · 25/06/2019 12:24

Thanks for the heads up about Toy Story 4 Cag.

Did clothes shopping for a wedding in August - I hate clothes shopping but I live in leggings rags most of the time so I had to do something. Also I never get to go to weddings so I'm delighted to be asked. The bride is a uni friend who's had cancer but recovered and I want to make a big effort for her big day. The family I come from is very dysfunctional and I didn't get invited to my sister's wedding which really upset me. Anyway I suppose my friends are like proper family to me. Framily. 😆

Thanks for the links chic.

I can't tell you how much I love my mop with integral detergent bottle spray. Tis a thing of beauty.

Lisette1940 · 25/06/2019 12:28

Actually shoe buying was the worst. I 'totter' in any sort of heel that's not flat. Got a nude 2 inch heel to go with red dress and red fascinator. Will have to practise walking around the house in those shoes with a book on my head

Lisette1940 · 25/06/2019 12:33

chic - I loooove Diane. She's so lovely. I'd no idea others on this thread watched her.

ChicCroissant · 25/06/2019 13:57

Framily - I like that! You're like a blogger to me with the posh spray mop Lisette, if only I did as much work as the YouTubers! I like having them on in the background when I am doing something though.

Name change any time you like Cag, we don't mind. I am looking forward to seeing Toy Story 4 myself, will have to start putting the idea forward to DD.

Lisette1940 · 25/06/2019 14:16

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/06/2019 16:00

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/06/2019 16:15

zoo can the unuseful one not contribute to the vets?

Sorry for being a bit awol been feeling crappy

Lisette1940 · 25/06/2019 17:05

"feminine and flowery" - has he been looking at too many San pro ads zoo? I'm surprised he hasn't asked you to rollerskate around in white jeans. But seriously - he needs to cop on to himself.Flowers

Flowers I've

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/06/2019 17:29

Lisette I can't rollerskate or maybe he wouldGrinif I didn't know better I'd think he had been over reading pride and prejudice style booksHmm

I need to fix some food for little ones.thinking pasta as easy and soft enough for lil zoo to be tempted with..
Just had go buy soothers as can't afford more strepsils and dd2 scarf last of those at school.she has history mock tomorrow so had to go in no matter what.i also bought her some fruit puree as she doesn't like if I stew and puree apples myselfConfused

foxessocks · 25/06/2019 17:56

Oh no zoo I thought you'd been a bit quiet, sounds like a lot is going on.

Cag I'm taking the dc and my mum to see toy story on Saturday! Can't wait!

Sorry I've been quiet , it was my full day working today so it's been non stop. Kids are eating sandwiches and alpha bites for dinner Grin

I've managed the daily routine stuff just about so not too chaotic here but I need to do my meal plans and food shop online , will try and do before the bed time madness starts.

ChicCroissant · 25/06/2019 22:03

Speaking as a Jane Austen fan, unless DP strongly resembles Mr Darcy he can forget the 'feminine and flowery' bit, zoo more like Mr Collins Perhaps he'd like to be more macho and support the household financially? Could he help with the cat? Try to get some food and some sleep, zoo

Don't worry about being quiet on here anyone, we all have those times. It's mostly me, normally Blush

Well done on the full day foxes, did it go quickly?

Hope you are doing OK IVE, and waves to other fledglings Flowers

Link to Launch Pad for Wednesday

Sleep well, fledglings!

ExpletiveDelighted · 25/06/2019 22:47

Evening all,

I don't think we will be going to see Toy Story. DD (13) is very reluctant to give away any toys, even though she rarely uses them nowadays. A while ago she confessed that this is due to the first film we ever took her to see, Toy Story 3, she thought it was real and that toys have feelings. Last week we were asked for old toys for a tombola, she said she couldn't give any of hers and DS whispered loudly to me "better not take her to see Toy Story 4 Mum". Hmm.

Chic - I've been to Barcelona twice, both very short visits. So much to see. The first time I went, with a friend, we stayed near Las Ramblas and enjoyed the food market there, also went to Parc Guell and the Sagrada Familia. When I went with the family we did the stadium tour at the Nou Camp, which was OK, I've been on better football stadium tours in the UK, but it is just about the most famous football club in the world. We also went up to the Olympic village and on an open top bus tour of the sights. It is very well-known for pickpocketing Sad.

Sorry so many Fledglings are anxious/under the weather/suffering in the humidity. I had an anxious few days last week for no particular reason, so have decided to have a proper go with the Headspace meditation app. So I have been getting up half an hour earlier than usual, making a cuppa and going out to my potting shed to do it (it's half glazed so nice and bright inside, I have a comfy chair there and its a very relaxing place, full of tomato and cucumber plants at the moment). I have also been doing a few bits of Flying in the rest of the time.

Cagliostro · 26/06/2019 00:00

Expletive I can PM you re the plot if you like, I can’t say why here without spoilers! :o

Cagletini has been SUCH hard work today. Her favourite word is, of course, NO.
