Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, although Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) [[http://www.flylady.net/d/br/2017/06/11/please-explain-the-zones-6/
here]]

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for June is : drinking water!

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Morning.
Lost another post the other night. iPad keeps reloading. Agh. Anyway I am ok. Managed to do some flying at the weekend.
Having to go to work today as really needed😳

Sorry to hear some fledglings unwell.
Will get back later.

Bowerbird5 · 26/06/2019 06:43

Yeah! Success.🤗

foxessocks · 26/06/2019 07:02

chic yes it did go pretty quick, and with ds being out of the house all day it stays much tidier Grin my mum says her house is looks like a tornado went through it. Yep that'll be ds.

Expletive bless your dd I was like that when I was a kid but before I even saw toy story!! Anything that was an animal or person couldn't be thrown away, ever.

Don't even know what my plans are for today. Weather is a bit grey and miserable. Coffee first Brew

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/06/2019 07:20

Morning all!

Brew
ChicCroissant · 26/06/2019 10:02

Morning IVE I'm off out for the morning shortly so should be back at lunchtime. Have watched day 26 of the babysteps with Diane of Denmark this morning on YouTube, she is so good and calming Star

Expletive we have booked an apartment near the Nou Camp, and I had read about the pickpocketing (esp at Las Ramblas) so will be as careful as possible. My DD has the same inability to let go of soft toys as yours! Hope the Headspace app is helping.

Bower I hope work goes OK today, how long to the new broom Head now?

Ah Cag, the days of no. Always challenging.

foxes my parents used to say the house/an item had been 'croissant-ised' after they had DD for a bit. Grey here too today, where is this heatwave we've been promised?!

Catch you later ladies.

foxessocks · 26/06/2019 10:31

chic heatwave coming at the weekend apparently! I don't really like it hot to be honest although I do like a bit of nice sunshine and a gentle breeze! Me and the kids burn so easily I find too much sun a bit stressful.

Who is this Diane of Denmark by the way?! Does she have all the answers on how to keep the house in tip top condition for me? I think I'm back to ditching fly lady zones for a bit, my daily routine is well established now but the zones just miss big chunks of my house out so I need to do what suits me better. I'm thinking as long as I try to do some decluttering or deep cleaning every day that should work. 15 minutes a day is achievable surely! I do like the Monday home bleugh, Tuesday planning bit of fly lady and I tend to stick to that.

Sorry, just my waffling thoughts for this morning!

Ta da
Daily routine and s&s bathroom
Hoovered living room and moved stuff out the way and everything Grin
Checked a tax thing online - anti procrastination

Going to go out with ds soon to give dh some peace as he's at home doing the dreaded dissertation today. Got no money as nearly pay day so going to use a voucher I have for a cafe and then go to the library and park as all free. Hope everyone has a lovely day Smile

Sc hope you're on the mend !

ChicCroissant · 26/06/2019 14:12

Having driven through a misty forest this morning, I'll hold you to the promise of a heatwave foxes

Diane in Denmark - this is a link to her 26th Babystep which I watched this morning

I find her really easy to watch, very calm and positive.

Been out all morning, will do a quick 20 mins before going out to collect DD.

ExpletiveDelighted · 26/06/2019 14:56

Cag - yes please, although she also wants to see Men in Black, Spiderman, Secret Life of Pets 2 and Lion King so we might not manage all of them anyway.

Foxes - I'm like you, not a fan of heat and burn easily. It's 21, sunny and breezy with a few clouds here today, which is just about right, I really don't want it any hotter. It was grey and miserable looking this morning but has suddenly changed.

Lisette1940 · 26/06/2019 15:45

Diane lives in Copenhagen and is a Flylady mentor/life coach/ life cheerleader. She makes her videos for fun. It's a nice way to connect with the Flylady routine and to find out more about life in Denmark. She goes winter bathing or skinny dipping with her best friends everyday as part of her daily routine. She's very cheerful and good fun.

Need to tackle the fridge. Paella for dinner tonight.

🍒 Waves to all fledglings. Poor SC hope she's better soon. Takes a while to feel better after a bad dose.

foxessocks · 26/06/2019 19:27

Lisette well that's definitely more interesting than my daily routine which is basically unloading the dishwasher and laundry Hmm

Lisette1940 · 26/06/2019 19:34

I don't go (nude) winter bathing because it would frighten the wildlife foxes. Technically it's after her daily routine. I think it's a health thing in Denmark - fortifies the immune system. Grin

Lisette1940 · 26/06/2019 19:36

Yes, I'm getting groundhog Day at the washing machine. There must be more to life. Perhaps we should just be naked in summer.

Lisette1940 · 26/06/2019 19:43

It wasn't paella tonight because we defrosted the wrong meat. Pot luck instead. With added wine.

LivingInLaputa · 26/06/2019 20:03

Yes bloody cold swimming is definitely a Thing over that way.

I keep forgetting about my name change so meh here it is

I got to the swimming pool and managed 50% more than my usual swim (always manage more on my own because no chatting!) but the steam room was out of order so I tried the sauna instead.

Curled up on sofa watching Eat Well For Less

Lisette1940 · 26/06/2019 20:23

It's always a literary user name Living!

Was the sauna good?

ChicCroissant · 26/06/2019 21:12

< Shock at though of mass skinny dipping by fledglings>

LivingInLaputa · 26/06/2019 21:14

:o

Dunno about literary, they are both based on two of my favourite films 😂 (castle of Cagliostro and Laputa castle in the sky)

LivingInLaputa · 26/06/2019 21:15

And yes thank you the sauna was good, not as nice as the steam room though! Much busier too

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/06/2019 21:53

chic I won't be doing any skinny dipping.i cannot afford the cost of the necessary therapy those who needed eye bleach after seeing my saggy flesh would incurGrin

School meet today over D's.nothing major to report.he won't be back anytime soon.they will tell us subject matter and leave us to decide how we go tackle that, any work offered won't be marked.feel quite overwhelmed tbh
Heyho
No flying today as lil zoo still home with horrid cold/flu bug.
Dd2 very poorly with it but staggered to school for history mock.she looks and sounds like crap.has ethic exam Friday.im try convince her she should be off tom to rest if no better so fit for Friday's exam....

I have gynae app tom morning,D's has camhs pm

Hope everyone's ok

Bowerbird5 · 26/06/2019 23:09

I don’t I get confused.

I’m thinking cags.
👋to everyone

🤗to foxes. Hark at DS at your mother’s house.

Chic🤐we might have had visitors.
She starts in September. She seems very nice. I had met her before a long time ago.
GP showing concern for me. Understanding about my stress due to a couple of incidents which I can’t post about. He asks me how I am with a knowing look and a jokey comment every fortnight. Back was bad yesterday.

I m going to be behind again as working my day off means I don’t do middle of week jobs. Also making a Christening cake for friends. Hope it turns out well a bit worried now as I haven’t done one for ages. I was hoping to start it today. I did buy ingredients, a board, a new tin 🤔

Went to Summer house with a cold drink when I got in at 6 pm. Radio on and a magazine. Fell asleep, cat joined me. Had stir fry, chicken, noodles. M&S. I drove up to get cake stuff at Hobbycraft. The road changed here a few years ago and I hate driving up there. I am rather proud of myself not procrastinating ( much) and going straight after school. I realised it is actually easier to go from school instead of new bypass so didn’t get flustered.

LivingInLaputa · 26/06/2019 23:18

You are correct. From one anime name to another :o

Can I be a PITA and ask for Laputa as an abbreviation rather than Living 😳😂

I am SO SLEEPY 😭 but cagletini is not.

Tesco order is done and they managed a bit of home ed despite DSD being here. Busy day tomorrow.

There are two things I could go to tomorrow, networking/autism parent kinda things. I would love to have the energy. But I really don’t. So I’m putting myself first and saying NOPE

Bowerbird5 · 26/06/2019 23:24

Zoo I would also be frightening wildlife. I used to go when 15/16. My friend Sue had a water hole on her family farm. We used to ride up there tie horses and skinny dip (more or less ) then dry off and ride back. Ah those wonderful days of freedom. We also used to get up very early and milk so her dad could have a morning off.
Hope appointments ok tomorrow.

LL Great swimming effort.

Haven’t been to Barcelona but DD went with Uni. Loved it. There is a fairy grotto bar she said. Pick pockets and beware people with roses 🌹 one acts acts as decoy then other moves in and steals purse.😢 happened to y lovely friend. She would have given the shirt off her back to anyone in need. It made her Ill.
Need to get to sleep.

Lisette1940 · 26/06/2019 23:32

Hope chez zoo recovering from the myriad of ailments and exams. Like the sound of the summer house Bower

Laputa I was thinking of Laputa in Gulliver's travels and Cagliostro the 18th century Italian Occultist Blush I didn't realise the film connections. From periwigs to anime Grin

ChicCroissant · 26/06/2019 23:49

zoo, if they are setting work I think they should be marking it Hmm I hope your DD's improve before their exams, such a stressful time.

Summer house does sound fab, Bower, I imagine you stretched out with a drink at your side and a purring cat in your lap. Fairy grotto bar, you say (I will watch out for pickpockets as that seems to be a recurring theme and they are very nifty at it!)

Lisette and Laputa are obviously our phone-a-friend option for any fledgling quiz team with their knowledge of literature and films here Star
