Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, although Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) [[http://www.flylady.net/d/br/2017/06/11/please-explain-the-zones-6/
here]]

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for June is : drinking water!

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Goodness a bit aerated on here this morning.

I was thinking half way through the year. We have two family birthdays this month and a Christening on one of them. DD is away for hers which is strange and as she is travelling so I can’t send the flowers I was going to send. Think we will probably put some money in her bank acc.

House has stayed reasonably tidy. I need to find dining table and might need more than 15 minutes.
Kitchen and sitting room both tidy. Need to do boudoir.

You must be much, much further south zoo it is dull and chilly here. I wish it was warmer I want to do the garden. Looks showery.

We got quite a bit done yesterday. Trip to look for gardening fencing and happened to have lunch which was a lovely treat. Cafe is so good some just go for the food!

Cags that is a pain in the butt.

SC thanks for super leading last month and for new thread.

Right better get off butt. Pointy stick needed.

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/06/2019 11:42

Bower east of England, tis bloody hot out.temps expected to top 25oc...

Cag what rotten timing, poor little bean.hope she's ok with it all I know she has little choice in it,but you know I mean sensory wise hope the concert takes her mind off things

We had lovely stroll at nature reserve exploring woody areas so dd2 doesn't crisp in sun.was lovely.now home and hungry...

IVEgottheDECAF · 01/06/2019 11:44

Its warm here but cloudy. 17 at the moment with highs due of 20. It has just drizzled a tiny bit (on my washing) but has stopped now!

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/06/2019 11:47

I've ---> but I will only half heartedly prod you due to your current condition and ailments.good luck with visitors.hopw it's short and sweet and they don't make a mess/get in your nerves!!

I am contemplating whether I might tackle boudoir this afternoonShock

Singingcricket · 01/06/2019 12:37

[Tiptoes in and sticks head tentatively around door] [Brew anyone?]

I was going to make a bit of a joke about looking at baked goods on one side (on a diet!) and Christmas trees on the other Grin... and having to put Zoo's clutter blinkers on, but, er, I think the moment may have passed ... Confused

Hills (sorry and you know I really, really luffs u) but I think we should be free to say anything we like on here because the minute "you are incredibly privileged not to have ...x, y or z" gets said, it gets a bit full on frankly, and, as I've said, it could apply to almost anything! But hope you are ok - I know things are far from easy - and hope you can enjoy some peaceful solitude this afternoon up on them there slopes this afternoon!

And I hate to say it - as it is a bit tortuous thinking bout Christmas now - BUT if one is crafting Christmas presents, or budgeting over several months - it can be necessary to start really early. I know I start wracking my brains about "presents for the office" during the summer holidays because fixing on the right thing is the bane of my life! Also, I am intending to sew presents this year to be eco-friendly and use up stash and save money! (Yes, again, I've said all this before many times, but needs must this year as all of our money is going on exciting things like digger hire and drainage pipes!)

Anyway, I just came on here to say that I have started "moving in June"! OK so I am a month late Blush and it's all a bit pitiful [only ten mins on lowest programme of exercise bike] Blush but it's something, right? Cor blimey though [rubs backside] those bicycles are bloomin' torture! My cocclyxx is protesting! [Stuffs cushion down back of trousers.]

Bower If I may say so, I think you may need a comfy chaise longue and a good book, more than you need a pointy stick! Smile

Crikey I've top marks for hosting while far advanced pregnant and looking after all the other dc AND suffering with spd! Halo

Lisette what are you both cooking tonight?

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/06/2019 12:57

Ps if I'm not back by teatime please can someone send a handdome fireman to rescue me?!

Cagliostro · 01/06/2019 14:24

Thanks my dears! She’s just left with DH and I’m sitting here all wibbly worrying about my baby girl 😭 I think she will be ok, from what she said it’s not heavy at all and she hasn’t had any pain either. Just particularly awkward with the very strict rules about bag size etc, her usual Harry Potter backpack is far too big, she’s not even taking pyjamas! 😳 I just took her into town, got her ear looked at (pharmacist just recommended Savlon) and got some snacks and sanpro stuff, and a smaller bag to take with her. Also gave her the microwaveable wheat llama cuddly that I’d bought in the Boots January sale and put aside for this very reason 😁

But argh. As if I wasn’t worried enough about how she will manage the noise, crowds etc! 🤦‍♀️ I guess actually she is less anxious about the period side of it than me because I am super paranoid about leaks etc whereas obviously she has no experience of that. Really just hoping the gig is amazing and she can enjoy it for what it is!

I’ll stop TMIing now 😳😂

Callmecordelia · 01/06/2019 14:39

I have a cold so I'm putting off starting fly lady again..... Hmm

Thanks for the warm welcolm backs on the other thread, and SC the garden is fabulous, as is your memory! I am very impressed you remembered.

Singingcricket · 01/06/2019 15:14

Take care of yourself Cordelia and get better soon [proffers Flying dispensation].

Aw Cag it's only natural you are worrying! Flowers Before we got medication sorted out (and even then ...) I spent most of the last two years worrying about dd passing out, throwing up, or leaking during lessons/exams/PE/out with friends or driving to school to collect her at short notice. I know it's not the same for everyone, but it is a real disadvantage if you have gynae issues - they certainly plagued me all my life - it isn't fair really what some girls have to contend with at such a young age. So completely and totally sympathise! Hopefully your dd will be distracted by the concert and it won't trouble her too much! I hope she has a lovely time! (Certainly a night to remember anyway!)

Hi Foxes you've reminded me that some of our radiators need a thoroughly good clean. Lakeland do some quite good radiator tools /brushes that reach tricky places including a sort of flat banana leaf type pad thing on the end of a stick that reaches the bit the hoover nozzle can't access.

Off to search for French study books which are scattered all over house!

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 01/06/2019 15:42

cag it's not really a consolation but dd1 has horrific periods and it took a few goes for this to surface,so fingers X if she is "unlucky" it will be at home with mum first time that happensFlowersI wobbled each one first period as it's like end childhood.but that might just be me....

Tada

Cagliostro · 01/06/2019 17:03

Thank you again lovely folk!

They are at Wembley now but the “host” family are 50 mins behind schedule Confused so I’m quite glad I didn’t go really!

I’ve had a lovely time with DS as Cagletini dozed off so we played a couple of board games just us two. Also I’m taking him to see Lego Movie 2 tomorrow (cheap screening) as he has rather missed out in the fun trips stakes lately compared to his sister :o

Lisette1940 · 01/06/2019 21:08

Had guests for dinner. Cuddled squidgy guest baby for quite a while thus giving guest parents a break. Baby did not want to leave me 😄 👶.

Managed to get carrot puree stain out of carpet.

Have hit the vino 🍷

Bowerbird5 · 01/06/2019 21:14

Zoo well done on the boudoir. We went into the garden instead so I have re-potted all the houseplants that DD left. I have two more to do tomorrow.

It has been cold up north. We have the wood burner on tonight!

SC you’ll be pleased to know I have lazed about quite a lot today. It started to rain after lunch. 2pm so we came inside. DH fell asleep he has weeded nearly all of one bed. I watched tv. Oh and cutcat claws.
She isn’t speaking to me now.

Neighbours are definitely not speaking to us. He went past as I went to gate to bring bin in and looked me straight in the eye and said nought.
She was very loud later. Our neighbour at the bottom saw us today and said how lovely the summerhouse was.
We are planning the garden around it. I will be pleased when it is done. The new bed is looking good lots of the plants flowering now.

Cags oh your poor DD I hope she is ok and enjoys herself.

TooStressyTooMessy · 01/06/2019 21:28

Yes thanks SC, it was successful although time consuming. Got sandals for each child. Plus lunch in Starbucks which of course pushed the cost up.

DH did home bleugh and tidied garden while we were out, although house now messy since we are back Hmm.

I am really wanting to sit on the sofa with Wine but DD1 can’t sleep so instead I am lying on her bedroom floor. Still have physio exercises to do as well.

The kids were really well behaved in town which I know is great but then monsters at home Confused. Having one of those days where I think I will NEVER figure out this parenting lark. Spoke to DH and we think they are much better when we have a clear plan and lots of stuff to keep them busy as they just don’t get tired otherwise so we are going to try to be a bit more structured on days ‘off’. Excepting the odd lazy day in the holidays of course.

Bower, can’t believe you have wood burner on! Really hot here today. Definitely into summer here now.

Not managed to catch up on all the thread but well done for starting moving SC.

Aww Cag, what rubbish timing for your DD.

DD1 appears to be asleep now so I am off to do some quick physio and find the wine.

Big wind flaps to all.

ChicCroissant · 01/06/2019 22:30

Checking in for June, from my hotel room, wine glass in hand start as you mean to go on

Thanks for May SC and for running June.

No flying so far in June, obviously. Will be home tomorrow night. Having a nice time with family so far

Singingcricket · 01/06/2019 23:14

Whey hey Chic and chin chin! Grin

If it's any consolation Toostressy DD has been extremely difficult all day . Not enjoying this parenting stage at all.

She does apologize for being rude & stroppy and then does exactly the same an hour later Confused

*Bower yay for lovely summerhouse and boo to horrid neighbours!

And aw to squidgy babies Lisette!

Waves to everyone else!
