Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

Ugh major stresshead here. Had a panic attack in the middle of the night, not felt any better all day really. But did manage to still do some home ed with the Caglets after DH left (hospital app) despite having said I couldn’t cope with it, we discussed more Macbeth (watched videos about it too including a Lego one) and then I finally took the plunge into long multiplication with manipulatives (yes DD really is that behind). Nightmare as their concentration is SO bad and DD always acts up with maths anyway due to anxiety about it. But we did it.

Also got a friendly nudge about DD’s art award as we’ve not been keeping up with the homework, so need to do lots of that over the next few days. Argh.

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/04/2019 18:15

Cagliostro · 25/04/2019 20:13

Oh that sucks zoo :(

I escaped for a bit this evening. I am probably in the pub too much! Not boozing but still.

TooStressyTooMessy · 25/04/2019 20:21

Hello all,

I can sympathise with needing to out dry laundry away so you can start more Chic - I’m sure we all can!

Glad your DD getting on ok SC.

Hope lil zoo’s throat ok zoo.

Well done on getting summerhouse moved Bower. Could you ask a landscape gardener or similar to give some advice on making the whole area prettier / better?

Mog, I have a similar issue with MN eating up my time and have vowed to be better again.

lisette, very kind of you to take the time to give information to your colleague. I’m sure they will appreciate it at a stressful time.

Pub sounds good Cag! Well done for getting through the day.

Dinner sounds nice foxes, hope it turned out ok.

Big wing flaps to everyone else.

Morning all!

Thanks for link Toostressy!

Salsa dish sounds lovely Foxes!

So sorry you have had to relocate summer house Bower

And sorry re: panic attack CAG hideous things

How you are managing without oven I do not know Zoo but well done for doing so!

Tedious here. Meant to be having mini holiday with DH while DD away but he is always working (he was out for long business lunch yesterday and still in office past 9 pm last night). So I made a probably unwise comment and we bickered. Don't mind at all if given advance warning so can get on with my own stuff, it's when I we've planned to do stuff together and he doesn't show that is annoying.

On the positive side: DD enjoying trip. ( They are doing a chateau visit plus a couple of kayaking legs each day) so received text last night "survived 4th leg, Madame X capsized, saw frogs on lilies, only ate peas and carrots for dinner, Y lost her phone"

Shadycorner · 26/04/2019 07:00

Oh yes Flying : currently "path clearing" for cleaner Blush. Made DD give bedroom big tidy ladt week so cleaner can tackle properly while she's away. I am tackling boudoir (third try ) and home office. Laundry pile nearly conquered. About to walk the furries first though!

Have a good day everyone!

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/04/2019 07:12

Aw,sounds like she's having great time SC

Lisette1940 · 26/04/2019 07:27

Glad school trip going well SC

Ta das:

Load of washing on, dishwasher emptied.
School prep done. Swim bag ready for lesson. Dinner organised.

To do
Rain postponed the gardening yesterday so I'll try again today
Will have a 10 minute think about organising stuff for the next month.
Continue with zone 4 cleaning.
Work. Then school pickup and swimming.

Cagliostro · 26/04/2019 07:30

Madame X capsized :o I shouldn’t laugh but :o makes me think of an Enid Blyton book or something.

Can’t sleep. So annoying. And it’s raining. Got doctors today, I need to see them in order to put propranolol on repeat prescription so just a discussion of whether it’s helping. Friend is taking the Caglets to their monthly Lego club since it clashes. It was this appt or wait four weeks though!

I’ve been trying to make my faffing about time a bit more productive. Last night I started planning a load of activities about Macbeth, there’s a website I can sell them on for a few quid too (I already checked you don’t actually need to be a qualified teacher to do this). Things like matching/ordering activities to check they’ve understood plot, language etc. I do that with mine a lot for many subjects, as they really enjoy it, so if I can make a few quid out of it then why not.

Bowerbird5 · 26/04/2019 08:06

Hi just a quick post.
Yes, poor lads that had to move it. Due to insulation it was twice as heavy as before. Glass in yesterday so coming back to finish it off today. I have left them some cake😀 not a word from the neighbours so don’t know whether it is better or worse for them but it looks plonked in our garden instead of the neat position we had it. Next time check all measurements and make sure joiners know - awkward neighbour alert. I hope they are happy but we won’t be inviting them around.

I haven’t done much flying apart from dishes etc.i am full of hay fever.it has been difficult with people in and out the house taking half the garden with them. Good point about landscapers I could do with Alan Titmarsh. I have had lots of gardening books out and Pinterest ideas.
Off to do my other job this weekend. So see you Monday. My boudoir is a messs again of clean washing. Do has brought it in and up but not sure what is what. I really need to get ironing again.

Happy weekend to you all. I hope all goes well. I will get back to flying next week but I have done decluttering and sheds and gardening so not ideal.

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/04/2019 08:26

Tada
Wash on
Feed cats
Bleach lav
Attempt make enough space on dining table for breakfastBlush
Breakfasts
Poor lil zoo glands all up and swallowings very uncomfortable really struggled eat frozen berries and yogurt decided keep her home as voiceless too..
Make dd2 lunch
Wash in drier
More on
Clean out bathroom drawers(each zoolet has one full their stuff.terrible at trying remember put empty stuff put though, and intermittent explosions of shower gel etc)
Wipe drawers and reload(adding shampoo to next shopping list)
Clean bath
Clean sink
Wipe mirror
Wipe windows

Shadycorner · 26/04/2019 08:43

Thanks all! Aye, I am much relieved she's enjoying it. [I sniggered at capsizing bit too Cag Grin although teacher concerned is very lovely so I feel bad now!] Grin

In reality, all of the teachers who go on these trips deserve medals
I think! One adolescent can be hard enough but 48 of them ... .

Good luck at doctors! I take a beta blocker for arrhythmia (but it does help to prevent panic as well I think). The only side-effects I have experienced are a bit of hair loss (but that could also be from menopause) and more susceptibility to rashes etc (allergic reactions). Apart from that they've been great!

Shadycorner · 26/04/2019 08:45

Safe travelling Bower!

Great list Zoo!

TooStressyTooMessy · 26/04/2019 09:13

Morning everyone Brew.

DH is off today as his parents coming to visit later so we need to crisis clean have an organising day. Not yet caught up on laundry from Easter really so that needs to be a priority.

To do:-
Laundry rescue
Food shop and sort food for weekend
Home bleugh

YY to teachers deserving medals for school trips SC, or maybe just a bit more respect from so many people who seem to think they are a holiday for them Hmm.

Great list for this early zoo!

Bower, I know a landscape gardener and I really hadn’t realised before I met him how knowledgeable they can be and they can sometimes see solutions for things. Some firms will do a sort of consultation that they charge for and then they give you ideas you can do yourself although I don’t know how common that is. Ok, I will stop advertising now!

Cag, when you say I need to make my faffing about time more productive Grin, that just sums me up! Let me know PLEASE if you find out ways to do this Grin.

Hope the weather lets you do the gardening today Lisette.

Sunny wing flaps to everyone else.

Morning all!

Just having my breakfast, second lot of laundry in machine at the moment first lot not hung up yet, a common theme , have run the orthodontist and have an appointment for next week as the brace has an issue again Angry I didn't think it was going to take up as much time as it does!

Weather predictions not good here today, so laundry will be inside not outside. Must pace myself, it's when I run out of hanging places that is an issue (we have a tumble dryer but I don't tend to use it for shirts).

Catch you later fledglings!

Cagliostro · 26/04/2019 14:07

:o stressy I suppose the secret is to be a nerd :o it’s one of the reasons I’m enjoying home ed, especially now they are doing more formal work, as I have planning and stuff to do. But also, learning a language (well, learning Japanese and relearning French) and pushing myself to read more, I have loads unread on my kindle!

I still faff far too much though and don’t do anything practical... 😳

ChicCroissant · 26/04/2019 14:23

Have third load to hang up now (two out of the three are non-ironing loads though, I need some catch up time Grin ) and still ploughing through boxes of paperwork. Have relocated some of DD's books which were in a box downstairs back to her bedroom. Still have a large plastic box of stuff though me and DH have more, still ploughing through

I've found some unusued SATs practice books while I have been sorting, will check with DD before offering them around as she is past that stage now!

ChicCroissant · 26/04/2019 15:50

Showed DD the books and she said 'get those away from me', so if anyone on this thread wants any 10 minute practice SATs tests just let me know!

We don't have all the results yet but she seems to have done very well in her first set of secondary school exams - which is really good because she was so nervous beforehand, and the good results have come as a nice surprise. A great note to start the weekend on.

TooStressyTooMessy · 26/04/2019 16:42

Well done to your DD Chic Star. I don’t blame her for wanting the books away from her! My DC are not the right age to need them but thanks anyway.

Ah ok Cag, that makes sense Smile. I have tried to use time when I can’t resist faffing on my phone to check and organise emails etc rather than faff on here but not the best results with that Hmm.

Might be worth looking into then Toostressy. My dad was one in Oxford when he wasn’t allowed at sea because he had to wear ...glasses.

I am just setting off as dah needed the car to take DD to the station.i came home exhausted so had tea and cake and a nana nap. I worked from 8:30 -3:30 without a break. No tea, no lunch nothing but a banana.

Right must get going. Only two of us to night so I may call in at chip shop.

Cagliostro · 26/04/2019 20:07

I still avoid checking my emails 😳😳😳 I have thousands

TooStressyTooMessy · 26/04/2019 20:48

Can’t beat chip shop tea on a Friday Bower Smile.

Ah yes, emails can be a real challenge Cag Confused.
