Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

TooStressyTooMessy · 31/03/2019 10:12

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

SC at least they're acknowledging adverse weather and modifying things

I've just had call from o.t
DS is being referred to be assessed for asd

foxessocks · 24/04/2019 14:19

Hi, sorry, bit behind on the thread. Hope hills okay too. Sc hope you manage to relax a little re dd , I did kayaking on a school trip once, I was totally rubbish at it but was fine! Have never been since mind you...not for me! Does your dd like stuff like that? I think I remember you saying before that she does.

I'm pleased with my ta da list today but have hit a bit of a wall now. Ds having an unexpected nap so I was going to work but can't log on Hmm now I'm not sure what to do! Was thinking of doing a workout thing but would perhaps rather go for a run when dh gets home. As the weather is nice. Decisions decisions.

Ta da
School run
Daily routine and s&s bathroom
Cleaned up cat sick Angry
Tiny bit of work
Supermarket
Post office
Order some photos online - anti procrastination!
Cleaned bedside tables
Took toys and other bits that were in my bedroom to the charity shop finally - anti procrastination!! Unfortunately as ds with me he refused to give one of the bigger toys up, spotted it before I could stash it in the bag Hmm and also he convinced me to buy him something in the charity shop Grin and then I got myself some books. So sort of decluttered then recluttered!

foxessocks · 24/04/2019 14:20

X post zoo glad you have at least had an update from them.

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/04/2019 14:38

foxes I'm a sucker for a chazza shop book too!!

Am sitting on my phone when there's loads things COULD be doing, but I'm tired and energy levels have evaporated!!
Winds picking up here, clouds setting inment be rain with risk heavy storms at 4pm.im wagering a guess it will be earlier.we get in at 345/350 so I'm pretty sure the weather will get us.it almost always does, usually whilst we crossing the nature reserve that's got no shelter and wind whips over us driving rain thru every piece of clothing and destroying brollies!
And I'm fed up I can't cook.usually bake cake or cookies first day back so girls walk in to inviting smells and nice snacks...

I have 15 minutes so I guess I can check on washing on airer before I go pick up lil zoo(as she's prone knocking everything off damn thing and then I return to find it on floor with cat on itAngry)

ChicCroissant · 24/04/2019 16:14

Me, the chazzer and cookbooks are a lethal combination. I have two really plain eaters as well, so the vast majority of the recipes inside will never be used at all, and those that are will be heavily edited for ingredients!

Good to hear that they are at least looking carefully at your DS, zoo - a little later than we'd like but at least it's a start now.

I haven't caught up properly on the thread yet or the house so will get on with sorting out paperwork, DVD's and games. Or will I get distracted making YouTube playlists instead. A bit of both, hopefully!

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/04/2019 16:32

Ooooh,cookbooks😍😍😋

I did remove washing from airer, fold and put away
Picked up lil zoo.short sharp shower that powered by gusty wind ment we weren't wet when got in,so all good.clouds are darkening again now though!
Folded airer up before cats think it's a new climbing toy(took longer fold wash than anticipated and needed leave as was late to get lil zoo)
Let zoolets eat Easter eggs for snackSmile
Lil zoo throats worsening, she's now developing a tickly cough.yayHmm

Lisette1940 · 24/04/2019 16:54

Ta das:

Picked up computer and got a fair bit done in work.

Party underway here so a bit hectic and no flying.
Cake made, including icing and is festooned with candles.
Pizza ordered.

To do:
Meal plan for the rest of the week. Must check freezer for space.
Green bin out tonight which means hedges are scheduled for tomorrow.
Need to clear excess stones in garage and arrange for uplift of recycleable old stuff.
Need to upload all the old work software on to laptop.

Dress to shoes is new aim for the rest of the week. It seems to work for me.

Cagliostro · 24/04/2019 18:00

I had a very slow start to the day. Home ed still fairly minimal but I did find a load of maths stuff to get started with. They struggle a lot with maths (especially DD - I think dyscalculia is very likely) so we are quite behind as we have to take a looooong time to go over something before moving on.

Then I went swimming and swam 500m in total! That’s a lot more than my usual, my arms hurt now :o spent some time in the lovely steam room and then did a few errands in town. Now chilling with line of duty, not getting into this series so much though really.

IVEgottheDECAF · 24/04/2019 18:06

It is raining

On my washing

That is all

TooStressyTooMessy · 24/04/2019 19:10

Zoo that is good to hear about the assessment, which I hope leads to better support Flowers

Great swimming Cag

Chic "so the vast majority of the recipes inside will never be used at all" - if like anything in my house they'll be pored over and enjoyed nonetheless!

Foxes arf at decluttering/re-cluttering Grin. I may have mentioned on here before how my late ma used to give an old vinyl record to our parish church sale every year, and every year us children bought it back Grin

Thank you Foxes and Zoo have received a text from DD saying "survived first leg, cold, hungry, tired, had to get changed at side of road under copper roof" Grin so I think she's ok! She does normally love kayaking so fingers crossed next two days will go ok!

Shame about the weather eh.

ChicCroissant · 24/04/2019 21:53

Oh, I love reading the cookbooks, often with entirely unsuitable food like a packet of crisps or a piece of toast. Dreaming of proper cooking.

Have done two loads of laundry but only hung one up, cleared up after dinner, badgered DD about homework which she has ignored that will make tomorrow night fun

Ugh, just remembered that I need to iron some shirts Sad

See you tomorrow fledglings!

Apologies for the double post, I got an error message the first time Angry MN is not working fully tonight Grin

Bowerbird5 · 24/04/2019 22:18

Hills was thinking about you today as while I was having a wee a bloody great wasp started buzzing on the window. It was a very quick wee I can tell you.
I was also reminded at lunch time when DH had a cider. I remember a campsite in France where a camper putup several cider traps. Please come back when you have had a rest. You have come across as quite stressed recently I hope things work out and you return.

SC that is priceless about the record.

Cookbooks mmm might have a few.
Might be in there own bookcase ( 6’x1’) and a few in cupboard that won’t fit in. I told everyone don’t buy me any more cookbooks.

Neighbour came around to ask when we were moving it. He wanted to work with us on where it was to go😳😤 it was going to be next week at earliest then they phoned last night to say they had moved other jobs around and could come today. I had a bad asthma attack so was unable to go around and tell him🤔 the lads had a lot of trouble but they managed to take it apart and eventually got it back together. I took them to the pub for lunch. They were knackered and really appreciated the gesture. No further on but it is moved now. I don’t like where it is. It looks like aliens accidently dropped it in the middle of the bottom of the garden. The view from there are good but it doesn’t get the sun as much. We will have to redesign the garden around it. We are now legal so nothing can be done neighbours haven’t bothered to come around today . I hope they are happy. I am not. We won’t be inviting them around. Ever!

ChicCroissant · 24/04/2019 22:31

The Dream:-

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/04/2019 06:31

Chic isn't reading cookbooks eating crap normal behaviour? it is for me
Snap on dream Vs reality, cept my wobbly pile is dumped in my room

Lil zoo throat worsened.had cereal and ice lolly for dinner.uo til near midnight.uncertain on school today, yet ment be doing parents evening at 330

Lisette1940 · 25/04/2019 08:04

Sorry to hear about lil zoo's throat worsening zoo. I think it's the most miserable stage of a virus. I'd rather be sneezing.

Ta das:

Wrote long email to new colleague who is moving here with her family from abroad. They've asked for pointers and help with settling in. Email looked very straggly and incoherent so I'll have to gather more info. It's only three months before they come and they're panicking a bit over moving their kids.
Bin out, laundry on. Meds in child.
Zone 4 floor declutter.
Looked ahead to summer to do some planning for the six week holiday otherwise we'd waste the time with nothing organised.
Fantastised briefly above living somewhere new and starting again.

To do
Hedge needs trimmed before school pickup. Plants need to be watered.

Swish and swipe bathrooms.
Clear living room clutter.
Work out something for dinner.
Think harder about colleague's questions about moving here. Find fun stuff to do for kids moving to the area.

Work - post out stuff and do an overview of where I am.
Change bed sheets.
Soccer.

MogTheSleepyCat · 25/04/2019 08:30

Morning fledglings.

I have decided I need to stay off my laptop in the period between home-from-school-run and DS's bedtime. I just get sucked into the YouTube wormhole, or trying to solve geocache puzzles and suddenly it is 17:45 and DS hasn't had any tea....

Foxes and Chic I am also a charity shop fiend! I love a good rummage about, as well as taking in lots of donations. Round these parts there seem to be a few shops that have quite affluent donors so some lovely things can be found. WRT to books though, I am trying to use the library more easier said than done

TaDa
Cats and DS fed
DS wrestled into uniform
Towel wash load on
DW loaded and on

Off to work now. BBL. Wing-flaps to all.

ChicCroissant · 25/04/2019 09:51

Lisette belated birthday wishes to your DS, I missed that yesterday - glad he had a good day.

Have done one load of laundry again, not hung up yet and a quick shop after dropping DD off at school. Still sorting and filing paperwork as well as general housework. Ironing. All the exciting stuff.

Back at lunchtime.

Lisette1940 · 25/04/2019 11:33

No stress chic - thank you! He's very wobbly in the bike and not quite riding without support. Getting used to balancing.

ChicCroissant · 25/04/2019 14:00

Afternoon! I've done a bit of ironing still far more left to do and not enough of the paperwork! Will hang up the clothes now and put out the second lot of laundry (darn this rainy weather!) to dry. Have put dry laundry away to make room for more Sad

Balancing can take a while sometimes, Lisette!

Got 45 mins before I'm out again, will use the time wisely. A couple of Serious Jockin' podcasts/reruns helped with the ironing today! Might be time for some soothing YouTube.

foxessocks · 25/04/2019 14:07

Afternoon! The sun has come out in time for the school run (well I hope it stays out anyway!)

Ta da
School and nursery run
Some work
Orthodontist appointment
Decluttered make up and jewellery
Dusted dresser
Daily routine including s&s bathroom

To do
School run
More work if possible
Dinner - going to try an idea I saw on here last week to use up tomato salsa. Salsa, beans (although I actually only have chickpeas but think they'll do!), then fish or chicken all in one dish and oven cooked. We are having cod. Hope it turns out ok!
