Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

Have noticed that smooth heels are slippery on smooth floors. Even without moisturiser. Velcro heels must have an evolutionary purpose 🤣

Cagliostro · 20/04/2019 17:06

I’m not too keen on the height of summer either really. Due to crappy low blood pressure etc I don’t fare well in intense heat! However maybe this year will be a bit better - logically with all the gym stuff I should be a little bit fitter, maybe less fat 😳😂 and also, living where we are now should help. In our old house we were 20 minutes walk from a park with zero shade (a playground in the middle of a field). Now we are a few minutes from a big park with forestry bits, a lake to walk round etc. So going out for a bit, as I did the other day, won’t be so bad.

I cuddled a sleeping baby for a while this afternoon but then put her down so I could come upstairs and sort through more crap from the boxes we moved with. I’m gradually condensing it into a few boxes and throwing stuff away. Currently sitting on the bed with a crime thing on Netflix and am surrounded by plastic boxes. Argh

Cagliostro · 20/04/2019 17:07

Lol Lisette! I find aqua tricky at times because my feet slip around on the bottom :o

ExpletiveDelighted · 20/04/2019 17:18

I'm a bit of a sun-grump too, don't like the feel of it on my skin because it feels like I'm burning even if I'm covered in F50, I get very anxious about burning. Also sweat easily, yuck. I dread another summer like last year.

Anyway, nice day with relatives today, just having a quick cuppa.

Lisette1940 · 20/04/2019 17:24

😂Cags. Just got back to swimming. Need to get fit. And 22 degrees up here today doing the gardening.

Shadycorner · 20/04/2019 17:28

Oooh please don't remind me of last summer Expletive! I had a series of visitors, loads to do, and was walking around with a damp tea towel on my head at one point Grin

Cagliostro · 20/04/2019 17:29

:o I’m so hideously unfit. I have to be careful about not overdoing it but hopefully by doing gentle exercise I’ll get there eventually Hmm swimming is a lovely way to do it anyway. I don’t go far at all but the aqua fit thing is a good workout. I’ve tried shallow ones but we have plans to attend the deep class too which will be different and eliminate the slippy feet issue :o

Slowly making progress on the sheer amount of crap from the girls’ bedroom. Problem is Cagletini’s bit just becomes a dumping ground, as we put the still packed boxes in that bit. So I think once we get it sorted I might just move the kallax (which was being used as a divider) to the end of the room so DD1 can have the bigger room for a bit. It’ll be ages before we get the baby in there anyway.

Bowerbird5 · 20/04/2019 17:41

I’ve lovely news about scan.
Hands a glass of ginger ale for congratulating.

Well I have done two loads of washing and been out gardening. We went to Debbie’s where a local firm has sheds and summmer houses so I went to investigate. Their 12 x8 is only 2.4 m high because ta da it is under the restrictions. B🤬 I looked at theirs before and they never told me that. For some reasons ours has been made 35 cm higher so puts us into the planning permission or two metres from boundary category. Guy is a builder of sorts and therefore if we don’t move it will report us to the local council, probably gleefully. They haven’t said a word today but we’re in the pub so we skiddadled out with our drink. I didn’t want to sit in there anyway on lovely day.
She had told DH that it was ugly which it is not. It is a sage green with white facia boards to match windows and doors - Georgian style.
We went to garden centre and after buying pansies and potatoes we also bought a gorgeous clematis and a yellow honeysuckle which grows to 3m I wonder where that may be going? So I am not going to converse with them. DH has taken turfs up and it will be moved on Wednesday ( hopefully) it will now have a garden at the back of it so we may plants things in it😇😬 to grow and hide the horrible summerhouse.

Their garage is newisish. They said they needed off road parking due to the junction, it is very long and they have never parked their cars in it.
It is roughcast creamy grey and they have a huge extention that we now look out onto it was garden before. The kitchen bit is lit up at night with blue or purple light. Like you would find on a dock. Too chavvy for my taste.
I’m surprised she hasn’t been around. It is a pity the joiners hadn’t reckoned that in because then we wouldn’t have to move it. I don’t think I can ask them to make another lower. We’ve waited months for this one. We have decided to plant up to it so it becomes a bit of a secret garden. DD and BF thinks it will look nice but not as good as where it is now as we have a weird configuration and it sat in there so neatly.

Right I am back out to finish pruning buddleia.

Bowerbird5 · 20/04/2019 17:53

I have just had an elderflower gin and tonic.

I forgot to say that I also purchased a dust bunny eradication. It is telescopic and will go behind radiators. There was a video to watch but I thought I had enough intelligence to work it out. Toostressy will vouch for me I am sure😂
Flylady would be proud of me and it was only £2.99

foxessocks · 20/04/2019 19:34

bower exciting purchases all round today then - I bought two new toilet brushes! Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/04/2019 20:28

Nice to see foxes and bower are living on the edge with purchases todayGrin

I am a summer grump.heat makes me dizzy and miserable.if I could have low seventies with a breeze I'd be ecstatic!!

Either way as long it don't try and move back in...

Lisette1940 · 20/04/2019 21:21

🤣

Cagliostro · 20/04/2019 21:47

I’m doing a last minute Easter egg hunt. Every year I say I’ll make up the clues earlier 🙄 we do really nerdy ones, so far they have to translate Japanese hiragana into the names of four of our board games with Japanese names. Then use coordinate grids to draw the letters which spell a word. I’m out of ideas now 😂

Cagliostro · 20/04/2019 21:57

And now doing periodic table spellings to spell out another location. DS has a poster of it on his door.

DH isn’t being much help but he’s sweeping up as we’ve been informed SIL and co are visiting tomorrow 🙄 plenty of notice as always 🙄

TooStressyTooMessy · 20/04/2019 22:19

We all live on the edge on here Grin.

Surprisingly ok day again Grin. Except I did manage to lose my Dad’s camera case that he gave me to hold. Thankfully camera not in it. Am annoyed that I remember being given the bag but simply cannot remember what happened to it after that. My disorganisation really frustrates me at times Confused.

Quick hello - not much flying today (I say that every day) but DD had a good time at her activity after a slightly chaotic start (the activity, not us - but not really their fault either tbh).

See you tomorrow loadies!

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/04/2019 06:35

Cag I was so tired last night I've not done my clues yet(need to do them this morning will I ever stop doing things last minute )
Good luck with family visit

TooStressyTooMessy · 21/04/2019 07:47

Thanks zoo!

I thought we used to have Easter bunny emoticons on here but they don’t seem to be here this year. Oh well.

Happy Easter fledglings Smile! For those of you who celebrate the religious aspect (zoo, Bower, anyone else) then I hope it is a special day for you.

For all of you I hope you have as nice a day as possible and eat a sensible amount of chocolate Grin.

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/04/2019 08:11

I thought I'd imagined bunny war emoticons stressy glad it wasn't just meGrin

Well clues made and hidden this year's are harder and ones in garden, two in neighbourhood
I've took copies clues in case they are spotted and removed but ones behind a planter outside church and other is under seat at a bus stop so I think they will be safeGrin

Cagliostro · 21/04/2019 08:22

Bunny war sounds a bit too Watership down to me :o

They’ve found their eggs, having solved all the clues (also ended up with some maths and grammar stuff). They are now doing the hunts they made up for each other, DS made horcruxes out of paper :o

Got a couple of hours to clear up before the others arrive, or maybe three since they are usually late Hmm

I’m resisting the temptation to open my egg now (it’s ruby kitkat YUM)

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/04/2019 08:30

We don't do clues in our egg hunt! Just a free for all
