Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

Evening! Not much flying today, have been out and bought Easter Eggs though. DD has reluctantly been hauled out of her armchair on a couple of occasions and is now thinking she wants to go out more - as the weather is supposed to be good over the next few days, this should be doable!

Catch you tomorrow fledglings!

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/04/2019 06:47

stressy sadly our brains are wired to remember repeated stressful events as a threat,so even if past few visits have been better it will be a while before you stop dreading things.i hope this one goes well and involves chocolate

Hills there's always one who is too hot or too coldHmm

DS was stressed, but managed Maundy service.first time we've all gone together and that was very special for me

Cats are yowling for breakfast and lil zoo is up so best get on

Bowerbird5 · 19/04/2019 07:27

Zoo how lovely. Well done DS. All the kids had their feet washed this year. So cute from 11 down to😃

Too stressy yes I don’t need another stress. I felt like your name last night. She ranted at DH when he came out of pub for a quiet pint. Don’t know what we are going to do. It isn’t like one of her parcels ( we take in) we can send back. Home was my sanctuary after school. Now it isn’t.

I wrote last night but it hasn’t posted. Wish you good flying.

Bloody hell next doors on other side( semi) are thump thump thump. He must be building something( joiner) it is 7 o’clock in the bloody morning and I have a migraine. At first I thought it was the kids but it is still going on 25 minutes later. I wonder if that is what woke me up.
Might go and look at house in son 2’s village.

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/04/2019 07:27

Ps
Ment be bad luck to wash clothes on good Friday if anyone's feeling like need dodge a task today!!

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/04/2019 08:01

Does table linnen count Zoo?

Although tbf I suspect that it was actually social pressure than something that actually causes bad luck.

Today has not started well. Over slept. Already had one heated discussion which is going to errupt again.

My first job of the morning is to head into a local town and pick up anti-virus because it runs out today and internet being down is apparently life threatening. tbf I won't appreciate it either as have been using youtube videos to wind down

I then need to make several versions of cake. Because killing people with cake shows that you love them... Go ahead its Easter. Eat all the food you are supposed to be avoiding to be healthy and not have a heart attack or stroke Hmm - yes its a long story.... Nope not going to bore you with it. Yes this is what the heated discussion was about.

After that I have a whole heap of mending that needs finishing on the sewing machine, a fish tank that needs cleaning out, ds to tell me I am doing it all wrong, and people complaining it is sooo cold whilst it is hot enough to make me feel sick...

Anyone want to take my day? I did the ikea run last night because bank holiday weekend...

TooStressyTooMessy · 19/04/2019 08:06

I’ll swap you if you make the trip to my parents Hills Grin.

Thanks zoo and Bower, that makes sense about stressful events actually. Oh well, we will see how this one goes. On the way now, left just 10 minutes later than planned so that’s good. Hoping to be there for lunch. There will be definitely be chocolate Smile. As you say, common sense goes out the window with festivities Hills!

Lovely to hear you got to the service zoo. Yours sounds lovely too Bower.

Big wing flaps to all.

Bowerbird5 · 19/04/2019 08:06

Ooh thanks zoo. I don’t need anymore bad luck.

It continued until 7:40am. The thumping was getting louder even DH could hear it.All quiet now. I am turning into a grumpy old woman since my birthday. I stuck dressing gown on and went around. He putting a bloody window in...at 7am he may have started earlier but I woke at 7am. Who does this? Do people have no consideration for neighbours anymore. Headache twice as bad now going to try and get back to sleep.

TooStressyTooMessy · 19/04/2019 08:06

Hope you get your good weather Chic. Meant to be nice here too.

Perhaps it's the symbolism of hanging something up to dry and the image of the cross? No washing planned today anyway.

School is back here since Monday after two weeks off. But they've today off and are back Monday.

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/04/2019 08:28

Ah so shoving stuff in the dryer should be ok? Excellent!

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/04/2019 08:53

Lisette possibly.ive googled it and apparently a lady was washing at side road and got some of Jesus blood on her laundry?I will ask at church this morning and report back later!!dd2 is helping with the little ones crafts(crosses of paint hand prints and crosses of news headlines for older ones)after the children's hot X bun service.

Tada
Cats fed
Bleach lav
Bins and littertray sorted
Wrestled D's into having his greasy mop hair washed
As almost waistlength going blow dry it now

IVEgottheDECAF · 19/04/2019 09:47

Morning all

All well at scan and DC5 will be DS4. DD not happy, family members suggesting we try again to give her a sister Shock

I always wash stuff on good friday. I am a rebel.

Lisette1940 · 19/04/2019 09:57

That's lovely news ive. So glad all is well.

ExpletiveDelighted · 19/04/2019 10:02

That's great news Ive.

Well I'm doing two loads of washing this morning, its a beautiful drying day and I'm not superstitious. I have got quite a lot of odd jobs done this week (its amazing how much free time is gained in the
school holidays when all the Scouts, Guides, football etc isn't on in the evenings). The DCs have been mainly mooching round the house or out kicking a ball around at the park.

Cag - I saw your earlier posts about the Periodic Table lecture, have you seen the Periodic Table app that the Royal Society of Chemistry has, we use it a lot.

Zoo - glad your sense of humour is surviving, not sure if mine would in the circs.

ChicCroissant · 19/04/2019 10:53

Good news IVE!

Weather looking OK here so will go out later, DD wanted to watch Aardman film (but currently on laptop and headphones so not watching closely ...) and we'll do some shopping.

I was thinking of baking some hot cross buns today, but it's a long process with the risings. Does make the house smell fab though!

Will also tidy. A bit.

Cagliostro · 19/04/2019 11:19

Ooh thanks I’ll check if we’ve got that one. ATM I’m looking for some useful stuff for atomic structure because most things are aimed at older teens.

Off to aqua fit again soon yay! Am a bit achy but I think it’s more likely because I had aspartamey drinks last night when friends came round and I’m really starting to notice a link there. Sigh.

Awww IVE have you started planning names and stuff? ❤️

foxessocks · 19/04/2019 14:21

I've that is a lot of brothers Grin glad all is okay!

Zoo oops only just saw what you put and dh has already done 3 loads of washing today Shock. Good job I'm not superstitious I suppose (although maybe don't tell me what you find out from the church just in case I decide I am! Grin)

Ta da
Gone into town to collect my re sized ring (it is now so shiny my other ring looks so dull so I'll have to get that one done too!)
Bought the dc new summer clothes as they had none.
Went to supermarket

Dh gone to supermarket to pick up our Easter order (despite us not hosting anybody we are just greedy!)
Decluttered car

To do
Bathroom
Decluttering
Declutter purse and bag

I also really need to get my feet "summer ready" any tips anyone?! I think I might get some of those socks things for dry feet. Footner? (Sorry if anyone hates feet and doesn't even like talking about them like me)

foxessocks · 19/04/2019 14:22

That should say dh gone to pick up from the butchers...I've already been to the supermarket!

ChicCroissant · 19/04/2019 17:20

A foot file works well on feet if you use it, I've got one that has four sides (grater-like bit, pumice stone, emery-type file and a brush) and it's brilliant if you use it in the shower. Moisturise afterwards and give it some time if feet have been neglected. Just give your feet a quick file when you are in the shower. I go through phases of using it but it really does work when I do. I've never tried the Footner option though.

Been out today (lovely weather) and completed an outdoor Easter Trail, it is always fun. Looking forward to a traditional fish tea tonight, hopefully with a home-grown salad for a starter.

DD has bought some more music that she wanted (Billie Eilish) so is happy with that. I need to prep some stuff for tomorrow. Have not made hot cross buns though! Could always do that tomorrow instead, even if it's not the right day.

TooStressyTooMessy · 19/04/2019 17:35

Well we are here at my parents. So far things are ok, hope I don’t jinx it now! Will report back and catch up later. Super hot here!

OP posts:
Lisette1940 · 19/04/2019 18:03

Foxes this is what I use but it's very effective so you need to be careful. It's a foot file: Microplane Colossal Pedicure Foot File Foot Rasp Pink www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0084JQFIK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_w6FUCbRM5T1Y0?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Never tried Footner so can't advise on that. I have hooves not feet (!) so a foot file is being used chez Lisette. I have a painful fissure on one heel caused by dry skin at the moment.

Lisette1940 · 19/04/2019 18:05

Note: the file I use can't be used in the shower. You need to use it on dry feet.

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/04/2019 20:03

foxes I use similar to Lisette(cheaper pedi egg )slather on vaseline.add plastic freezer bags and secure with rubber bands.add socks as warm feet soak in better and leave at least an hour/overnight it betterif you can leave til mirning.,pat feet dry(bags may make them sweat a bit,but they should be MUCH softer)

So the superstition is it washes away a lifeShock

Still done naff all to house.its disgusting now...

Did attend children's service at church.only one other family there which was sad as layreader had clearly gone to huge amount effort for the service.i took some co op fudge/choc mini hot X buns as D's don't do dry fruit and they all got eaten!!

Trip Asda George(20 mins walk away) withdd2 as her drawers are all fraying dreadfully(Primark quality)
Lunch(tuna for all but dd2 so we had our fish today!!)
Trip another church in our cluster for a four point stations of cross which was happening during the three hour vigil.church silent except for intermittent readings and couple hymns, but curate has autistic son and she warned us when they were coming so I took D's outside briefly!he held wood and heavy stones,a rosethorn crown, nails and lit candles then we went to creative station and drew what we felt.he did a lamb of God picture(loves lambs) and one his worries as monsters with a cross shining light pushing them away.we spent over an hour in there and it was calm(and cool) and we all came out glad we went
Walked back with friend from church who came with us(was"her" church we visited for that)
Had stroll in sunshine
Did sandwich tea for Littlie's,they're now watch dvd in D's room
Just about to eat and watch bit TV

I've if "d"p is offering to carry number 6 I guess family could get their wish for another try for DD to have a sister??Grin

foxessocks · 19/04/2019 20:16

Thanks for the advice re feet I'll be making some purchases soon definitely!
